I saw fnaf at freddy's last night and the entire row behind us was filled with maladapted zoomers that were talking pretty loudly through every quiet part of the movie until my bf told them to shut up. The guy two seats over was on his phone the entire time except for the parts where people were dying. I enjoyed the movie a lot but it would've been better without the interruptions.

Well, the birthday cake was a pretty good success! Mirror glaze is incredibly hard to get a good picture of, and I probably should have gotten out the Good Camera for this, but here it is:
Nutella Brownie Mousse Cake with Milk Chocolate Mirror Glaze from Love and Olive Oil
It was actually a very easy cake to make, as long as you plan your timing accordingly. Basically what you do is you make a brownie, cut it into a circle a little smaller than you cake pan. Then you make some mousse, and pour it into the pan around and over the brownie, and freeze overnight. Then, in the morning, you make the mirror glaze. The speckles are gold glitter mixed with a bit of vodka, and flicked all over. It looked better in person.
The brownie is was very, very good, and I would probably make that just as a brownie to eat. The mousse was also delicious. The mirror glaze called for 6 t of gelatin, and I found it a little rubbery. If I make this again, I might try pushing that a little lower. Presumably, I could also have just make a thinner coating. It's a pretty rich cake. We served it with a variety of berries. The kids wished we had some whipped cream to go with it, and that might have lightened it up a bit.
We had a very nice birthday overall. My son wanted to go to a hockey game, but when we looked into pro tickets, they were very expensive for terrible seats, we were worried it would be a huge production and not end up being very fun. Then, he had the great idea of going to a *college* hockey game. As it turned out, my two alma maters were playing each other at the rink near my folks' house, so we got to go have a nice visit with the grandparents. The game was really fun-- the teams were very close in skill, and it went to overtime. It was all very nostalgic--Mr. P worked at that rink when we first started dating, and it also make me remember my own college hockey days. My son enjoyed it very much. His birthday isn't actually until Tuesday, but he is going to be twelve and he is five foot four.

i've seen the odd post in defence of watcher and i get that you wanna support your fav indie creators, but. listen. this is a stupid, potentially financially disastrous move by them.
'but they want to be free to make their own content and not be beholden to youtube!'
yes, that's totally fair. what's Not fair is locking future seasons of previously free series behind a paywall, and Any future content at all behind said paywall, all without warning, or even asking the community what they think would work. there are many different ways to go about making exclusive content, and having more control over what you make, and this was probably the worst way to go about it.
'but they're a small group that doesn't make that much money!'
they have a patreon that gets about 100k per month. that is on top of ad revenue, merch sales, ticket sales for live audiences, and sponsorship deals. they're also asking for a subscription that's MORE than what a dropout (another subscription based group that does various shows) subscription costs, while having LESS content and at a lower frequency.
and, ultimately, this was something they hyped up, presented in a weirdly guilt trippy but trying to be inspiring tone, all without warning and in one fell swoop. while also being unclear in their over produced announcement video about whether or not old, existing episodes will still stay up for free, requiring them to clarify after the fact.
it was so, so poorly thought out. there are many other ways they could have handled this- using their patreon or even youtube membership to trial paid for exclusive content for example, or even just. putting up a poll to ask if people would like that kind of thing, and for how much.
they didn't. they just did it and expected everyone to cheer for them. utterly bizarre, deeply disappointing, morbidly hilarious.
