NIGHTLY, HAWKTER, GENJAR (Dark/Flying) & Mega GENJAR (Dark/Fighting)
Convergent evolution line of GHASTLY, HAUNTER, GENGAR & Mega GENGAR.
They are nocturnal birds with the ability to imitate the cries of other pokemon, and even sounds made by humans, in order to attract unsuspecting prey into the dark forest and attack them by surprise.
They are mainly inspired by Nightjars, also known as nighthawks or frogmouths
GENJAR is also inspired in Owlbears from D&D
Mega GENJAR is based on the defensive posture owls will take when they feel threatened, ruffling their feathers and trying to look bigger and more intimidating

Say hi to Marziclast, the Ginger Dough Pokémon!
It’s a pure Rock type who- doesn’t do much…
Its name comes from the words “marzipan” and “clast”, i chose marzipan instead of gingerbread because in italy we use the two terms interchangeably even though they’re very different things and i thought this naming mistake would kinda fit a Pokémon idk
For this design i got inspired by something that’s REALLY out there for Pokémon standards, can anyone guess what it is? 🫣

Hey @n0rtist ! I noticed your new fakemon shares a concept with one of mine so I doodled them hanging out together! I genuinely love your take on the stick bug sudowoodo mimic and the colour palette is really pleasing to look at!

To reiterate
Convergent Evolution is what happens when two unrelated creatures develop to look and act the same by sheer coincidence.
Convergent Pokemon are Regional Pokemon in reverse. Not two creatures that evolved from the same creatures and turned different, but two creatures that started from two seperate starting points and came together at the end.

polygrigus aka convergent fakemon. more in depth explanation about its ability + the signature move below art
Polygrigus, very obviously based on POLYBIUS don't think that needs to be explained. The "distraction" effect is a new one, works like infatuation but doesn't rely on gender and has a higher chance to be distracted compared to being immobilized by love. Every move that got the ability effect also has every move, regardless if it's special or sound or dance or whatever, will now become a contact and replace what it previously was.(that means throat spray won't work on what used to be sound based moves)
It also has a signature move! Confining Wires, a special 65 bp ghost type move that deals contact damage . Its a trapping move, the main difference being it doesn't get countered by moves like u-turn. It's also kind of dual electric type? It hits electric & water pokemom for super effective but ground resists instead of being straight up immune.
also. don't really wanna get into it's full move set it would take a REALLY long time but this thing would learn
-all terrains
-all weathers
-all field(non hazard) effects like trick room or gravity
it DOESN'T learn any status moves like will o wisp or any hazards like spikes.
Also learns alot of psychic & steel type moves, obviously.

TINISTEE & POWKEGEIST (Fire/Ghost)
Convergent forms of SINISTEA & POLTEAGEIST, this pokemon were born when the souls of miners that perished in a cave explosion posessed the left behind gunpowder used to blow open the mines, using the abandoned detonation boxes and powder kegs to contain their new bodies.
This pokemon can create small explosives by compacting their gundpowder into sticks and balls, which then can be lit and thrown, in order to repair their bodies and recover the lost gunpowder they feed on the minerals required to craft more.
Their shiny colors are based on the colors of SINISTEA & POLTEAGEIST
TINISTEE, with its name being a reference to T.N.T. is based on a detonation box, the ones used to remotley detonate dynamite, it constantly carries sticks of compresed powder ready to be thrown or hide them around their territory, as they are able to make them explode from afar to take any enemy by surprise
POWKEGEIST is based on a Powder Keg, its body contains enough powder to craft a lot of bombs before having to replenish, and if necessary, it will go into its keg and light itself up to create a massive explosion

Convergent Evo: Tardiursa -> Ursagrade
Based on: Tardigrades, also known as Water Bears
Tardiursa inflate their foamy tails to allow themselves to float and drift along the surface of water. They often blow bubbles and have a large one collect around their mouth as they practice diving. Noticeably smaller than Teddiursa and often times more friendly, which is why Ursagrade is so protective over them.
Ursagrade will often use their foamy tails to carry and protect their young. They use their well-developed 4-arms to tear through the water, through rocks and ice, and even their prey. They're considerably smaller than Ursaring, but just as strong and fierce, perhaps even more so, but only out of a deep love and need to protect their young, Tardiursa.
Could maybe use a little more work on Ursagrade, but this was my first draft idea. I think Tardiursa is perfect!
