I love how Spencer gets defensive of mentally ill unsubs. Just imagine how many comments he probably got about his mom growing up. That was the 80s and 90s - people were less aware of mental illness, made fun of it more, and people loved to talk.

I wonder if he always stuck up for her or if he couldn't. If he knew he shouldn't snap back at the neighborhood boys that were twice his size or the teacher that talked about things she didn't know about. I wonder if people made comments like that about Diana. Saying oh it's too bad what happened to poor Diana. She is too ill to work and her husband left her... She was so sweet too. And Spencer knows she is still sweet - that she can be sweet when she is lucid enough to remember who he is, when she reads to him and calls him Crash - even though she might never know that she is the reason he is bruised.

I like to think that Spencer stood up for her but he might also be too smart for that. He would have to shoulder those comments about his mom. He would go home and cry into his pillow because the world was hating on the only person he had left for something she can't control. But then Spencer gets himself into the FBI, gets a badge and a gun and a score of degrees, and he never has to listen to another negative comment about his mom - or anyone with mental illness.

Spencer might not have always been able to protect his mom, but he sure as shit isn't going to let anyone bad mouth her now.

I feel super bad for asking but how do you make such high quality gifs? I totally understand if you don’t want to say but I’ve only ever been able to find episodes in 720p which makes the quality ass :(

hi anon! don't feel bad at all 💞

i use 1080p screen caps (sometimes i use 2160p but i dont think the gifs look better its just the files i have at times), but u could still try experimenting with sharpening. different people have different methods but i like double smart sharpening

#1 filter is 500% 0.4px radius remove gaussian

#2 filter is 20% 20px (but this depends on the media definitely play around with it)

last thing is with cm i add some noise 0.5-0.8 typically. this is just bc criminal minds is very lq and the noise makes it look more even to me. when i edit other movies and shows i leave that part out.

I had a thought/request for cm? I think it'd be so cute/soft if like... the reader took meds or something, and while they are on a very important case it comes time to take their meds but they're very invested in working stuff out or whatever... and then a few of the team members phones go off and on of them is like, welp it's time to take your meds, and you're just like 🫠 you have an alarm to make sure I take it on time. I need some team fluff!

There's no room for recreation in your schedule. You personally think that being flown to the sunny beaches of florida and being confined to a stuffy police precinct is evil, but so are serial killers, you suppose.

Your head is starting to ache, and by the deep sigh that JJ lets out, hers is, too. The last thing on your mind are the little pills in your go bag, but your eyes are starting to droop from where they're scanning over a plotted map. Lines are starting to blur together, and you're thankful for the intrusion of an alarm.

Wait, two alarms.

Three, you note, frowning as you glance at the clock: 8:00.

Hotch's phone is one that buzzes as its pressed to his cheek, and he interrupts his running dialogue to scan the room for you.

"-understood. We'll send a team out, they should be there in 20. Y/L/N," He calls, and you stiffen slightly, ready for orders, "Take your medicine."

Those weren't the orders you'd been expecting. Your brow dips, creased in a frown as Hotch goes back to his conversation.

You glance questioningly at Reid, but all the doctor does is hold up his own phone.

"Your medicine," He prompts, showing the alarm ringing on his screen, "You're supposed to take it at 8:00."

"Here," JJ sticks a hand over your shoulder, pill bottle in hand, "Do you have water?"

Aaron's still engaged in conversation over the phone, but apparently parenting has given him good multitasking skills, because he hears JJ's question and passes his own water bottle to you, the plastic looking comically small in his large hands.

"Thank you," You mumble, "Uh- you set alarms on your phones... for me?"

"You don't do it for yourself," Derek teases, pinching at your side as you struggle to juggle both the pill bottle and the water. When you get the cap off of the medicine bottle Morgan takes it from you, shaking out the dosage you need and screwing the cap back on.

"I take them," You defend yourself, taking a swig of water and washing the medicine down, "I was just preoccupied tonight."

"And that's why we have the alarms," Rossi reasons, "Penelope had to help Reid and I with ours, she's the one that found your medical records and told us what time you needed to take them."

"That snoop," You scoff, "Someone has to take those computers away from her."

"I've tried," Aaron reasons, finally off his phone call, "She always outsmarts me. You took the meds?"

"Yeah," You nod, "Uh, thanks, guys."

"Anytime," Derek goads, ruffling your hair despite your protests to fight him off, "Someone let Garcia know you took 'em, or she'll call you herself."

Before Prentiss can pick her phone up off of the table, yours rings. There's a round of snickers throughout the room, and you raise it to your ear with a fondly exasperated sigh, "Yes, Penelope, I took my meds."

In 1953, Alcoa Aluminum put out an advertisement promoting their new Del Monte Foods HyTop twist-off bottle cap. The advertisement shows an image of a woman with a bottle of Del Monte ketchup, appearing excited and stunned as she is about to open it all by herself. The woman is wearing red lipstick and has red nail polish on, matching the color of the bottle itself. At the bottom of the advertisement, it reads “You mean a woman can open it?” What this advertisement is saying is that this bottle is easy to open, however, it uses blatant sexism to do so. This advertisement reinforces the stereotype that women can’t do things by themselves and always need the help of a man to do anything. Alcoa Aluminum’s choice to use gender stereotypes to promote a product further emphasizes the societal stereotypes of women. In more recent years, this advertisement has become widely known for the extreme sexism it uses and has received many scathing reviews online.

In 2011, Mr. Clean ran a Mother’s Day promotional advertisement titled “This Mother’s Day, Get Back to the Job that Really Matters.” In this advertisement, a mother is shown wiping down a window with a Mr. Clean magic eraser, with her young daughter right beside her. The Mr. Clean logo is in the bottom left corner of the advertisement, which is a bald man in a white shirt with the words “Mr. Clean” in red next to him. The young daughter is seemingly being taught how to be a good homemaker, as that is her supposed duty as a woman. It shocked me that an advertisement like this came out as late as 2011, as it is arguably just as sexist as advertisements from much earlier years. Through this advertisement, the company is saying that women should focus on having a clean house for Mother’s Day, reinforcing outdated stereotypes that a woman’s primary duty is to take care of the home.

Kinder surprise eggs are a popular children’s treat that features an egg-shaped shell of chocolate with a surprise toy on the inside. In 2013, Kinder decided to travel back 60 years and start making their products gendered. On one side, the advertisement shows a blue Kinder egg with “boys” toys that could be inside, which are cars. The other side shows a pink Kinder egg with toy dolls and accessories that are marketed to be for girls. The background is completely blue on the “boys” side and completely pink on the “girls” side. With this new campaign, Kinder tried to appeal to boys and girls separately by guaranteeing that they would receive a gender-specific toy in their surprise egg. Instead, Kinder faced lots of backlash for promoting gender-stereotyped toys. It is apparent in this advertisement that boys get the blue egg with the cars and girls get the pink egg with the dolls, reinforcing the stereotype that every kid wants the toy that is associated with their gender. There was even a petition to get Kinder to stop making these gender-specific candy eggs.

Axe, a popular men’s hygiene brand, ran an advertising campaign to promote their new shower gel that came out in 2012. A man and a woman are shown side-by-side taking a shower, the images split in the middle of the screen. The man is putting the new Axe shower gel on his body while the woman is putting whipped cream on herself. The tagline at the bottom reads “The Cleaner You Are” on the man’s side of the advertisement and “The Dirtier You Get” on the woman’s side. What this company was trying to say was that if you use this product, women will be drawn to [have sex with] you because of how clean it makes you. This advertisement in incredibly degrading towards women as it is saying that all a man has to do to get with you is use this shower gel. It reinforces the sexist stereotype that women are merely sex objects for men to use for their satisfaction.

editing cm is a special form of suffering sdjfkhs so I definitely get what u mean. its not a very HQ show and there's only so much u can do so definitely be kind to yourself. I have sets that im not thrilled about quality wise 😭 (esp. in the later seasons which look terrible)

all the following is specific to cm and macs.

I've played around with different methods (capping vs converting to .mp4 vs screen recording) and the best way for cm I've found is to start by screen recording an ep off IINA. imo IINA is the most HQ player but it doesnt have built-in screen capping, so I screen record the scenes with QuickTime. ime recording on QT and exporting 4k looks better than capping or using other recording software, but I do have an intel Mac. ive heard the M1 QT file sizes are much bigger so if u have one you might have to skip this part. ill know for sure when I upgrade my computer in the fall!

after cropping and resizing (for cm I use bicubic sharper reduction bc the scenes are normally out of focus 💀), I use smart sharpen. 500% 0.3/0.4 px and 0-5% reduce noise, depending on how grainy the scene looks. ive even used 10% reduce noise but it depends bc u dont want it grainy or too smooth.

finally I add noise, which makes the gif come out cleaner and more uniform. the amount depends on the scene and the size of your gif so far. and thats all I do for quality enhancement!!

Water in the toilet bowl

If everything is in order, the water level in the toilet bowl is determined by the height of the outlet of the internal trap. If the water level in the bowl is too high, it is usually because the pipes are clogged, but if it is too low, there are at least four possible reasons. The first is partial clogging, which slowly siphons water out of the bowl. Another reason is too little water in the tank, and a third is a clogged vent line. These problems can be fixed, but if water is leaking from a hairline crack, it's time for a new toilet.

Adjust the water level at the tank

Remove the tank cap and check the water level after the fill valve is closed. It should be about one cm below the opening of the overflow pipe. If it is significantly below that, there may not be enough water in the tank to fill the basin after flushing. Correct this by adjusting the float. Turn the ball on the end of a float arm clockwise to shorten the arm. This will put less pressure on the valve, so it will take longer to close. If you have a cup-shaped float that fits around the overflow tube, shorten the adjustment band so the float has to rise higher to close the valve.

Check for clogging

Check the toilet's internal piping system, called the colon, for a partial blockage that may be draining water from the bowl. Fill a 19-gallon bucket with water and pour it quickly into the bowl while the water stands still. If the water backs up, the colon is probably clogged. Put on rubber gloves that cover your forearms and reach into the colon. This is the most effective way to remove a large foreign object, such as a disposable diaper or tampon. If you find nothing, flush the toilet. If all else fails, use a toilet drill to remove the blockage.

Clean the plumbing vents

Listen for gurgling sounds coming from the toilet when you use another toilet or empty the bathtub. These sounds indicate that the vents are clogged and the negative pressure in the pipes is drawing air through the toilet and likely emptying the bowl. Unclog the vents by climbing onto the roof and spraying water into the vents with a garden hose. If the vents are frequently clogged, cover the vents with a screen to prevent debris from falling in.

Look for a crack in the toilet

Look for water on the floor around the base of the toilet if you can't find another cause for the low water level. You may need to remove the toilet to get a good look at the subfloor, especially if the floor is tiled. In this case, you should replace the toilet, because cracks in porcelain can not be reliably repaired. If water penetrates into the floor, it may result in expensive structural repairs.

hi again!! no pressure at all but im so curious about how you color your gifs? especially the ones like this (https://www.tumblr.com/housewifebuck/718968950474539008) where the original color is so dull??

hey! how I color my gifs depends heavily on what scene/show im giffing and what the original lighting and coloring in the scene looks like. a lot of shows tend to have warm lighting and tinting for most scenes. but for a regular gif set like that one, I tend to use a lot of the same adjustment layers: Color Mixer, Levels, Brightness/Contrast, Color Balance, Selective Color, and Hue/Saturation. As for that particular set, since like you said the original coloring was very desaturated, it was a little trickier. I'll add some screen caps of the process under the cut!

to better illustrate my points im using a gif from my dad!Eddie set as an example. I used the same PSD on this gif and the gifs in the set linked above.

here was the original scene coloring:

Basically what I did with these gifs was I used CM, CB, SC, and H/S to correct the existing colors until their skin tones looked more natural + I wanted his jacket to be a lighter/cooler shade of blue to complement the yellow of the house siding behind them. then I adjusted the brightness with Levels and B/C. after I did all that this was the result:

from there it was just a matter of increasing the vibrance and saturation to bring out the colors! here is the finished result!
