One thing that I’ve always adored about UtM is this little intro bit in the theme song. The theme song as a whole is ok, IMO, but not all that great. I think a lot of the others are better. But this little bit has always given me major chills in a good way....it has a certain cartoon epic vibe to it. Unlike any other version of Care Bears, this theme song has a certain edge to it that makes it feel more modern. The Bears feel more like regular cartoon heroes rather than soft fluffy caring Bears. So I REALLY love how they actually introduce each one of the main Bears and have them slowly be added on to the graphic. The shots they chose are fantastic too. Cheer in particular is great....it shows her intensely driving, letting you know a serious mission is going down. But I like how they show Good Luck’s goofiness, Funshine’s cool vibe, Grumpy’s mechanic knowledge and Share’s happiness as well. It just highlights all of the Bears in a great way. And it just reminds me of so many cool cartoons. That’s why I like UtM a lot...it has a “cool” vibe that none of the other versions quite grab for me.

ITS HAPPENING PEOPLE

Ok so listen to this

On so we are ALL AWARE that Bedtime’s history books don’t add up anyways due to the Bluster in the book is not the same as the Bluster in the show. But when I actually started to look more into the recent events of the show and compare it to the history books, A LOT DOESNT ADD UP AND IT REALLY MAKES YOU QUESTION

For starters, We don’t know why old bluster made a deal with the Care Bears back then. And now they say he’s “Broken the agreement”. Why would there be a need for him to strike a deal with the Care Bears in the first place?

Then I started to think about the Wiffels and the Seeds of caring

Personally, I don’t believe that these things are actually native to the silver lining. With their brighter more vibrant colors and just how they are when the Cloudseeker crew arrived, it’s safe to say that they definitely don’t belong here when you take into account the Bad Crowd. Also “Seeds of Caring” sounds way too much like a Care-A-Lot thing.

Now, here’s the scenario that made me go crazy with this idea.

Picture this:

The Silver lining was home to only Bad Crowd. Their lands created from the bad vibes from earth, exactly the same as Care-A-Lot.

Then, all of a sudden, Care Bears discover the Silver Lining and start planting they’re seeds of caring, with help from the Wiffels THEY brought along, to not only expand Care-A-Lot but also vanquish the “evil bad vibes”.

Naturally, this caught the attention of the Old Bluster. I imagine he would try to stop them from planing the seeds, but it never worked. It may have gotten to a point where his acts were seen as “Villainous” to the elder Care Bears, giving them more reason to plant them. After many failed attempts in stopping the bears, the Bad Crowd get so pushed back out of the silver lining that Old Bluster had to do something too not only keep whatever land they had left, but make the bears leave. That’s where the deal comes in.

And while the Care Bear and Old Bluster stick to the deal, thsi doesn’t stop Care-A-lot. First, they plant the tree of caring and leave the Wiffels to continue they’re work. Next, they build a barrier around the silver linging and a gateway that can only be unlocked via Belly Badge power. Effectively keeping the bad crowd in in case they decide they want revenge

It would explain why the Bad Crowd have their own area full of bad vibes and why no where else in the Silver lining is like it.

But here’s the real kicker to this theory

I hear you asking, “Why wouldn’t Old Bluster just bring bad vibes back to his land? What about the bad seeds”

You may want to take note that the “Bad Seeds” are actually a new thing. Their made from Robbie’s invention. Old Bluster didn’t have this ability. So when a seed of caring was planted, there was no undoing it. Thats why he had to strike a deal with the Care Bears because in his eyes all their land would have been wiped out and changed permanently, causing them to have to survive without Bad Vibes, which probably would not go well.

Bluster doesn’t even realize the power he has with the Bad Seeds.

He would have gotten away with bringing bad vibes back to the silver lining, IF the Cloudseeker crew didn’t show up. They see Bluster being evil and are trying to stop it. History is literally repeating itself, only this time the Bad crowd has the ability to actually fight back

Also, the reason bad crowd is “Evil” in the first place, I think I can explain that as well.

I don’t think they were made to be evil. We know they have good in them. From both Robbie and Malcolm but even Bluster himself. They claim to have no good in them but when Bluster got all his badness taken away from him, he became all bubbly and happy. He has good. But after the Care Bears showed up ages ago, I could see a lot of Old Bluster’s people saying how they need to get revenge and Old bluster refusing to take part in revenge due to not wanting to lose the land they have left. Because of this hatred and anger, I can imagine it evolved over the centuries and eventually even they thought that they were born to be evil. They know about the Care Bears because their a big part of their history. Bluster knows about his history, considering that one, They are aware of the Care Bear’s existence, and 2, He openly states “We don’t need more Care-A-Lot. We need Blusterland” in ep 1, proving he knows. I do want to believe that there might be a history book in Blusterland that could give us the full truth on what actually went down.

Bedtimes books being wrong would make sense! History was written in a way that made the Care Bears look good and Blusterland look bad. It’s very similar to real life history where it will be rewritten or told to us wrong in school to make certain people look good and justify their actions.

Caregiver! Grumpy bear from care bears: unlock the magic Headcannons-

💙: Grumpy loves giving you pretend toys or crafts that match whatever activity he's doing! Especially since some equipment for inventing can be dangerous, you can make your own toy car while he works on the cloudseeker

🌧: likes being called papa! Calls you dewdrop, sweetheart, darling, and cub

💙: tries to be strict but folds easily, could be scolding funshine and good luck for something and turn around to you doing the same and let you get away with it. They think it's completely unfair, just cause you're a cute kid he let's you get away with everything! (Cheer bear and share just think it's funny)

🌧: very good with affirming and helping with emotions! Has the very best grounding exercises memorized and keeps whatever comfort items you may need close at hand. Also makes sure to have ear defenders and things of that sort if you need them

💙: keeps a bulletin board with all the pictures you've drawn him above his desk in the workshop, he gets kinda shy about receiving things like that but deeply appreciates it

🌧: Dibble really loves playing with you or showing you cool things! I think she'd try to act like a big sister, handing you your paci if she sees you're upset and running to get grumpy

The Main Five - Seal The Magic

Well, six. If you count the little Whiffle guy

🌸The CloudSeeker Gang🌸

The CloudSeeker Gang consists of Cheer, Funshine, Grumpy, Good Luck, Share, and Dibble. While all knowing it’s a big risk, the CS Gang and Caring Control all agreed that the group needed to stay in The Silver Lining on a multi-year long mission to protect it. Even though they all miss their home Care a Lot, their work is absolutely crucial to the safety of The Silver Lining, Care a Lot, and even Earth.

^Closer looks later in post All of their arcs in this are inspired by things that actually happen in UTM. Some more obvious than others.

🌺Cheer Bear takes her role as leader very seriously, sometimes to a fault, and tries her absolute best to be a perfect commander for her team. She tries very hard to the point it can be draining, but keeps up her chipper attitude and manages to keep the group on track and upbeat. Though what the rest of the bears don’t realize is that the reason she takes her position with such pride is because she feels like she hasn’t truly earned it. Truth be told, she did get the job by being in the right place at the right time. Despite truly being a good leader, that fact looms over her any time she makes a mistake. Over the series she learns her talents and skill are truly there, and she slowly opens up and grows out of her imposter syndrome.

Additionally, because of her pride in her job, she ends up developing a large rivalry with Bluster. While she tries to be the bigger person about it…well it’s Bluster. We can all agree she deserves to cuss him out at least once.

🌺Funshine, despite not being able to drive, is the co-pilot of the group. Why did they decide that? Because what else is he gonna do. Even though at first glance it looks like he doesn’t do much for the group, he’s actually incredibly important to the group's personal well-being. His upbeat and care-free attitude keeps the crew happy during sour times, and he is essential to overall performances.

While the other bears go through one big arc, Funshine goes through two connected arcs. While he is a genuinely happy guy, Funshine doesn’t know how to process any of his negative emotions properly. Because of this he often goofs off when he’s not supposed to, and doesn’t take situations he should seriously. He doesn’t want to feel bad about work because he can’t process it, so he tries to turn it into a joke. This of course leads to things getting worse, more often than better.

Over the course of the series he learns how to process and open up about his emotions, and become a better teammate in the process.

🌺Share is the peacekeeper and negotiator of the group, and highly values her skill to keep things civil and calm. Her team however, do not have those same skills. While she doesn’t start off the series with this issue, she slowly develops a small feeling of superiority in the group. However, she feels incredibly guilty about it, and tries to push the feeling away.

(This arc is fully inspired by that once scene from One Wise Bear, but is supported by other moments in the show.)

After developing this idea (which honestly..she’s not really wrong. They do cause trouble a lot) she tries to ignore it, but of course that doesn’t make it go away. She learns to be open with emotions and eventually is honest with the group, which leads to them all becoming more on equal grounds. After this she also becomes more involved with the group itself instead of letting herself push herself away.

🌺Good Luck, the navigator’s, arc is probably the second simplest one here, being that he needs to learn to rely on his own skills instead of pure luck. The Silver Lining messing with their belly badges’ magic isn’t too detrimental for most bears. But for Good Luck it could be dangerous for him. While in Care a Lot he could do almost anything and it be fine, here he has to be much more careful and develop his own skills.

While in the silver lining he learns he can’t rely on fate, and takes more action to grow and becomes fully capable of his duty with or without his badge’s power.

🌺Grumpy Bear is the group’s mechanic who built The CloudSeeker itself, and definitely has the shortest actual arc in the show. He of course starts off as his usual Grumpy self, and stills ends the show that way, but does mellow out a bit. Mainly for the sake of raising Dibble. Though instead of accepting the role after one episode it takes a whole..wait for it…three.

….Yeah that Whiffle stole his heart. While he does mellow out a bit, he’s still easily annoyed and very sarcastic still. He’s definitely the most unchanged from the original show, but later on he actually plays an important role in another character’s arc.

🌺Dibble’s actual character is very unchanged, but her introduction is different. Instead of getting lost and the bears finding her by mistake, Dibble was actually going out of her way to find the bears. After the Bad Crowd attacked them for the first time in generations, Dibble escaped the raid and went looking for Care a Lot.

After this first battle is over, the bears decide to stay and protect The Silver Lining, and Dibble soon joins the mission.

The Cloudseeker (from utm) makes this sort of adorable soft mechanical whirring sound that sounds vaguely like bubbles and purring to me !!!

(It can also be contrasted with the louder growl-y or maybe lawn mover-y engine sounds of the blustermobile)

it's spring break and im so happy to have some more time to dedicate to finishing some pieces that have been on the backburner ! this is a weapon design i created for one of my characters; the setting is very much a fantasy and incorporates a lot of magical elements :) this character loves over-the-top decor and takes pride in appearance, including that of her weapon! much like her, you shouldn't underestimate the magic key's power just because of its initial appearance as, well, an oversized key ;) when properly handled, the key can be used as a magical conduit, able to fire magic bolts, directed via one of three operational styles— rifle, crossbow, or wand.

i hope to do some full-color studies of this wand soon enough so i can play around with its glamour (hehe)

some other goals i have for this break + things you should expect to see from me soon:

familiarizing myself with modeling in Maya, ultimately producing a 3D environment for a character

complete 3 character avatar sets for a friend's senior capstone video game project

a few storyboards (!!!!!!!)

graphics direction for a social club production im also regular directing @ college !!!!! - basically im working on creating scenic projections that will play alongside our performance :)

and you probably wont see me posting this but i have an annotated bibliography to start on for my honors capstone thesis (im starting a semester in advance to have more time to complete research + production— i would love to talk about what im working on if youre interested!!!)

thats all i can think of without actually going to look at my ~list~ but yeah a lot of stuff in the works 😌

If I had to choose the most self-indulgent “nobody else is gonna read this” idea lurking in my brain right now, it would be the Scum Villain/Guild Wars 2 crossover where Shen Jiu’s soul gets caught up in a cataclysm in The Afterlife/The Mists/The World Between Worlds and instead of being reborn in his own world, or even the demon realm, he gets tossed about twenty-five worlds over and is reborn in Tyria.

As a Kodan cub.

It’s not an easy life, especially since he loses both parents to the ice dragon Jormag and winds up in the Still Waters Speaking settlement. But without the memories of his previous existence, he’s not doing so bad.

And then when the Void is unleashed and begins unraveling Tyra, a little cub is caught in a pocket of Non-Reality. By the time the adults manage to free him, he’s curled up in a tiny ball in tears and screaming about someone named ‘Qi-ge’.

The adults are rattled by more than just the Void attack. Reincarnation is the basis of Kodan faith, true, but for a soul to jump directly from Human to Kodan, especially with such a disharmonious life as Shen Jiu had, is unheard of. Because he keeps mumbling to himself -or, rather, to the memories of people from an entirely different world- he is dubbed Speaks With Lost Shadows and no one is quite sure what to do with him.

Until Cloudseeker, being acquainted with the Sylvari sisters known as The Dauntless Commander and The Relentless Shade (my “canon” Commander and her second-in-command) well enough to know some of the history of the Commander’s murder and self-resurrection, gets an idea. While the situation is not exactly the same, the Commander’s situation gives her an entirely unique perspective on death and the recovery of memories that might make her capable of handling Speaks With Lost Shadows’ troubles. Moreover, she has a familial connection to Aurene, She of Facets and Time, who can potentially see the world he came from and give necessary context to his memories.

It’s an unorthodox path to take, but if they can help the cub, they can help the cub, so he contacts The Vigil to send a request for assistance.

The whole thing ends up with Speaks With Lost Shadows/Shen Jiu being informally adopted by the sisters and gaining a found family in the Dragon’s Watch guild.

And if, at one point, Aurene’s foresight has her decide to reach across The Mists to see about giving a certain sect leader one last chance at reconciliation and closure, well, that’s her own business.
