Thinking about how in Tsubasa after reading the entire story how it changes how you feel about all the arcs. Spoilers for the ending and Nirai Kanai and xxxHolic below

There is no happiness in the way the arcs end especially once they reach Tokyo end, there is a sense of completeness but never like: ah yes we are happy now.

The best they get is a sense of satisfaction at having reached the goal and saving people but you know the final goal could potentially take decades and is seemingly endless and that is daunting for the cast.

And once shit starts hitting the fan theres nothing but tragedy after tragedy, the loss of Syaoran, Fai’s near death, Sakura’s loneliness and powerlessness, Kurogane’s anxiety for the other shoe to drop, the ENTIRETY OF CELES, knowing theyre all trying to cope as best as they can but every world they’ve visited since Tokyo has only faced a massacre in Clone!Syaoran’s wake and how traumatizing it is and the pain of knowing he would never do it if he was in control. Not to mention Clone!Syaoran’s inner conflict of knowing deep down he loves Sakura but despite the soul he made it takes losing her WATCHING her DIE to finally bring him to the front however briefly it is.

And in the final end, Clone!Sakura and Clone!Syaoran remain in a state of limbo, kind of dead if we’re being brutally honest.

Like Tsubasa isn’t a story of a happy ending, it’s literally just coping with tragedy and loss. And I think this is what makes me love it so much, that yes all four survived but the cost was two main characters. Its not a satisfying ending, its just tragic, after suffering so much and setting everything right and even being able to live in the original timeline, the two beings that helped them survive this long don’t get to be in this happy ending. Syaoran sacrified his parents, his childhood, his freedom, his time, his chance at a normal life and he still doesn’t get to be with his Sakura all the time. Clone! Syaoran himself said there was a timeline where Sakura and Syaorn can never be together and the knowledge that there was going to be an even worse timeline is so horrific after all that suffering…

And if we want to get into Nirai Kanai, I think this is the only part of Tsubasa I outright sobbed, the cruelty of Syaoran SEEING Clone!Syaoran or his father and needing to FIGHT him and him STAYING DEAD, was so painful. How much Syaoran didn’t want to do it but he had no choice. Not to mention Watanuki had to do the same with Yuuko to help Syaoran(they really do be the same person huh?)

New headcanon syaoran and sakura (the clones) are that snarky domestic couple bc they lived through lives where they had excessive trauma in the past but then got a second chance to relive their childhoods healthily

Do people...not think the Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle ending was a happy one?

Spoilers below while I explain how I feel different. Should be a pretty brief post though.

So obviously clone Sakura and Sayoran disappearing isn't happy on its own, but what comes after is a message filled with hope when you consider the themes of the story.

The whole point of Sayoran's journey was to understand the importance of moving forward, even if it's painful. That was why the clones were content to fade, knowing things were finally progressing and the loop was broken.

By returning to their original selves, they paved the way for a happy ending. Because yes they're gone now, but clone Sakura herself says they can someday return. And not one of the characters acts like this won't happen by the end. They all believe they can bring the clones back, and why shouldn't they? They've made miracles happen time and time again. They suffered greatly, but as long as they all survived, they were able to *push forward.* And that's what they'll continue to do.

I don't think we'll ever get a sequel, but there's no doubt in my mind they succeeded in bringing the clones back and living happily, all of them together. Because as long as they all shared that wish, there was no way they could fail.

Sometimes I just have a day where I think about Clone Syaoran and Sakura, and how Tsubasa (Syaoran) is trying his best to bring them back 😭😭😭😭

I know CLAMP is still working on CCS: Clear Card but I hope one day I can see the conclusion to the Clones story too one day...I just want to see them reunite with Kurogane, Fai, and Mokona 😭

Is it possible that “A Song of Storm and Fire” was meant to represent the two Syaorans? After all, Syaoran gained the power of ‘fire’ from the beginning of their journey, while Tsubasa and the other Syaoran counterparts have always had lightning, or, ‘storms’ as their signature abilities (see CCS Syaoran and Tsubasa for their Raiteii Shourai’s). Out of all the characters in TRC, these two are the only ones I can think of that can fit ‘Storm’ or ‘Fire’.

Fire dances around him, hot and bright orange and ever hungry for more, and Syaoran looks on impassively as yet another world turns to ash around him. 

He used to feel something, once, he thinks dispassionately, the fingers of his empty hand reaching for the flames, stopping when the heat is just this side of uncomfortable. He used to feel sad and rageful when he stumbled upon such an injustice. Such a tragedy.

Now he feels… nothing. 

It's okay, he supposes, because what use are emotions, what good is grief, when he needs to gather the princess' feathers, no matter the cost, no matter the sacrifices? 

He has to gather them all. He must. It's imperative. Burning, crumbling worlds don't matter.

Screams filled the air earlier - screams of pain, of horror, of despair - but now there's just silence, and the almost rhythmic snap-crackle of the endless, scorching fire. Now, there's only the scent of death and decay and cooked meat.

Syaoran summons a portal and steps through it to the next world without looking back.

RG Veda x TRC Fix-It Fic

(in which funnygeekpics uses TRC to fix RG Veda)

(contains spoilers for Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, but no spoilers for RG Veda past chapter 2)

(this is less of a “proper” fic and more of a synopsis, but I needed to share it with the world)

According to a vision, C!Syaoran is going to come to the World of Heaven. He will destroy the Imperial Army and take the feather, leaving the World of Heaven in tatters.

A Valerian goes to the World of Heaven to change the future. Yes, a Valerian. According to this fic, a few Valerians were able to escape their country when their sovereign was wreaking havoc. Anyway.

So this Valerian lady meets up with Yasha and Ashura early on in the series. Since she's Valerian, she can sense the presence of other people. Therefore, the group quickly discover Kujaku following them, and they dispose of him in some way.

After that, since they're able to easily avoid other people, Taishakuten's men are never able to find them. Also, Yasha and Ashura never end up finding the rest of the Six Stars. That’s okay. They don’t need to.

When Syaoran comes, he takes out most of the Imperial Army before Ashura arrives at the scene. Syaoran attacks Ashura. So alter!Ashura takes over Ashura's body and starts fighting him. They fight for two-and-a-half days, nonstop.

In that time, the last of the Imperial Army arrives to fight Syaoran. They decide not to interrupt the fight. After all, strategically, it makes sense to let one dangerous enemy defeat the other.

Finally, alter!Ashura wins the fight. They kill Syaoran right in front of the army. After the fight, Ashura collapses from exhaustion. The Valerian teleports Ashura, Yasha, and herself away from the scene. She uses her magic to heal Ashura.

Many soldiers are considering desertion. Ashura saved them -- saved the world -- from an outside threat. Taishakuten could not lead them to victory, but Ashura delivered it single-handedly. On top of that, they've now seen how terrifying Ashura is as an enemy. Nobody wants to make enemies with Ashura.

Word quickly spreads throughout the World of Heaven. There are many clans which served Taishakuten only out of fear, not loyalty. These clans join Yasha and Ashura, as do many individual soldiers. The rebels are able to overpower Taishakuten's remaining forces.

Oh, and the Valerian exorcises alter!Ashura from Ashura's body, so alter!Ashura doesn't get to "engulf this world in the flames of hell" or kill Yasha or w/e they want to do. The end.

The results of this fic: ~ There's a lot of bloodshed in the World of Heaven, but there's way less civilian bloodshed.

~ Ashura doesn’t get nearly as traumatized, since people aren’t constantly dying around them.

~ C!Syaoran is killed part-way through his rampage, meaning he doesn't kill as many people as he did in TRC.
