Each time somebody writes Adam and Evelyn as abusive or Adam as being the only one to blame i lose 10yrs off my life. They deadass loved their kids SO MUCH to the point they gave everything to save them from containment. They rose through the ranks,did shit they hated just to get positions they Hated so they could save them and in the end it was for nothing. Adam stayed since they would probs do horrible shit to him and the kids,in this position he could atlest let TJ be in Jacks site and care,while Evelyn ran since she chose revenge and killed a bunch of them,but she still thought of them

im so glad u asked heres everything i can think of off rhe top of my head as general bright fam thoughts

So first off i do follow major tom for a good bit of my personal canon/headcanon.. only thing i really changed around was that it wasnt mikell who took TJ away (though he did know it was gonna happen but did nothing anyways so he is still at fault in a way. Great job cowboy) just for reference etc

I personally see them as being pretty damn old- mikell (the oldest) being born in 1919 and claire (the youngest) being born in like.. 1928. Adam and evelyn left pretty early in my mind and mikell landed a job in the foundation’s field agency real young only because of his parents’ affiliation with the Foundation (being either high-ranked personnel or already O5s at that point)

Its here that my mikell lore goes off the damn rails and i add a lot of shit about his field agent days bc he’s my favorite and i never saw anyone talking about it so i went ham. But thats too long 2 put here

Nothing notable happens in this timeline for the whole family so on to more general stuff and slight rambling abt random things i can think of rn

-jack was contained for a few months after he had died and became tied to SCP-963, so the foundation could run tests on him and study him until they decided he was fine to actually work for the foundation as he posed no actual intentional risk to safety and all that jazz

-every bright has adhd, autism, or both

-mikell and jack did and still do bicker a lot. Esp when mikell is picking on jack

-tj has so much rage. he deserves to get violent sign my petition

-claire still loves her brothers despite all of the circumstances and how she knows that theyve done some bad things. she would be lying if she told you that she doesnt

-mikell knows how to play guitar and piano. and can sing well. (i have no reason for this one i just know him)

-mikell also has a big scar across his face from a fight he got into with a chaos insurgent when he was in the field agency. At that point he had made quite a respectable name for himself as a really good agent, so he had been able to get access to SCP-427 to help heal it, which actually also cured him of his asthma

-david was really close to both his parents before mikell had his eyes removed, which added salt to the wounds when he did.

-david is asocial and fairy standoffish and sometimes grumpy (like his dad) which contrasts with claire’s general attempts at optimism (claire is the only one who has willingly gone to therapy for her childhood and healed to any degree.)

Anyways i have more if u have any specific questions about any of them i love.them all so much especially mikell (my interpretation of him is kinda pretty canon divergent in a few ways tho so i might make a multi paragraph post just abt him too

Swarmcanon Alison Chao was conceived in an incident no one talks about that resulted in some rather OOC behavior from Dr Gears and remains an uncomfortable reminder of the fact that Gears has fucked

She is also unable to leave the universe and become a True™ Badass Black Queen™ like all the other girls because of Teeth’s border policy, so she just runs around in this universe with the Serpent’s Hand, the Little Sisters, and the Claires and focuses on making herself the biggest menace possible to the Foundation

Alison also has a lot of anti-establishment vibes and is a Heart player:

Those bound to the aspect of Heart are very concerned with their favorite subject: themselves. It wouldn't be a stretch to call them 'self-obsessed', but not necessarily in a negative way. They simply want to understand the one thing we all are stuck with for our entire lives, i.e. our own minds. She competes with the Foundation everywhere she can get. She mines their personnel databases, sneaks into sites, hacks their archives (O5-10 has a personal vendetta against her), steals SCPs (or tries to), and attempts to destroy information. She also fights over Bitcoin, hunts slacking Foundation staff on Fortnite, Overwatch, and Destiny, and does all this from the computer chair that she sits backwards on

She has eaten one (1) bag of plain tortilla chips this week; she has the same tendencies that led Founder to originate and Gears to popularize “I WORK TWENTY-FIVE HOURS A DAY AND I NEVER SLEEP” culture in the Foundation

Her roommate Claire III/Nobody is starting to get kind of concerned

I wrote it forever ago for someone who DMed me about it, but I wrote a sort-of guide to the personalities/histories of the Bright family in the Bright Family Values AU I'm writing. Feel free to use this as you see fit, just keep in mind that I'm not an authority within SCP Foundation writing in literally any way (I haven't even posted any of my SCP ideas yet ;-;), so don't take this as gospel or anything of the sort. It's just how I write the characters, and I'm rather fond of it.

Bright commits crimes against reality.

Ice is an a$$hole. Like, he will be sarcastic, he will roast you, he will take a rude tone to the O5 Council, he's just not nice to people at first.

However, if you can tolerate him for more than maybe six months, he'll start to warm up to you. Maybe. This does not apply if you don't at least try to be nice to him, and the nicer you are to him, the nicer he'll be to you.

People don't often manage this, but somehow, Bright did. Bright, notorious at the time for being completely unlikable. Gears did somewhat, but was also highly abus1ve.

Somehow, the two most unanimously disliked people in the Foundation ended up getting quite close. Bright was even one of the few people who knew Ice's real name (Personally, I like Julian Sylvester-Finn, got both bio father and step-father's last names)

And then, Ice d1es. Bright is the one to find his b0dy. Out of everyone in the small group of people who could even somewhat tolerate each other, Bright takes this the hardest. This is around the time of the creation of the first chainsaw cannon.

Also around this time, Bright goes to his mother, Evelyn Bright. She works with Prometheus Labs. She basically says, 'Well, if you don't want him d3ad, you could just bring him back to life!'

Bright is horrified by this prospect, his own worst experiences being connected to getting brought back to life through 963, but slowly, the idea starts to grow on him. He wouldn't have to make the resurrection permanent, after all. Just reanimate the b0dy, put the mind and soul back in, a few stitches here and there, Ice didn't have blood thanks to his temperature so that wouldn't be a problem...

Then, Kondraki d1es. This is the first major leap towards choosing necromancy that Bright takes. And finally, at least a decade later, Claire Lumineaux d1es. This is what finally pushes Bright over the edge.

First, he has Nobody hack into the alarms and turn them off. Then, breaks into SCP-049's containment cell and breaks the Doctor out. After that, he grabs SCP-073 and briefs him on the plan, leaving some details out. Cain thinks this is a horrible idea, but goes along with it because he doesn't want Bright to get severely injured or permanently k1lled.

Together, the three of them get exactly 1 mile away from the Site unhindered before encountering Clef. Bright explains the plan and Clef is on board 100%. Clef has no qualms with mildly breaking the fabric of reality.

The four of them are now home free, hitting three different graveyards on three different states (Texas for Claire, Nevada for Kondraki, Michigan for Iceberg) and stealing three c0rpses.

Cain and 049 translate some of the details in 049's notebook, Bright uses his expertise on the amulet, and Clef bends reality a bit to make all of this possible.

And finally, at the crack of dawn, seven hours later, on a freezing cold winter night in Eagle Harbor, Michigan, James Abel Lumineaux discovers the secrets of necromancy, and Ice, Claire and Kondraki are back.

Someone asked me for more Bright Family headcanons so have more

I always have Bright family headcanons, This time it's more individual rather than family interaction.

Yoric can play the violin. Yoric can do a lot of things.

Jack doesn't only wear 963 as a necklace. She wears it as a belt, a head accessory and other stuff. The only part they don't wear 963 at is as a bracelet. Cause it's just realy dangerous.

David is a good cook but a terrible baker.

Mikell has a very guns and roses theme going on to his cowboy vibe.

Evelyn's favourite colour is maroon. Adam's favourite colour is teal.

Sera's aim is so accurate that she's not allowed to play darts with the family and close friends because she wins all the time.

TJ understands colour theory the first time they heard it. No practice, no relistening, no experimentation. They just got it.

Jack is a really good artist and loves drawing.

Mister Cupcake has a hot pink service vest with sprinkles pattern on it.

David and Mikell can sing. Really well.

Evelyn actually enjoys a lot of thriller and mystery novels. Adam, surprisingly, is a slut for romantic comedy despite being a humourless git.

TJ can absolutely run in heels and it's the most terrifying thing to witness.

Jack's aim is absolutely shit. Like actually really, REALLY bad.

Mikell can sew, cook and clean. He's very good with household chores and is the ultimate malewife.

Adam is not a malewife and never will be.

Jack's knows how to make wine and has taught Yoric and Sera to make them.

Claire is actually pretty buff. She is also pretty strong.

The family's first language is actually Hebrew. The only people who's first language is NOT Hebrew is Sera and Yoric because they weren't raised directly by the Bright family.

The Bright Family Annual Meeting tends to be at Tamlin's because he's the true neutral where most family members trust her. But also because Tamlin House is the only one who can house all of them AND their shenanigans.

Mikell had a goth cowboy phase growing up

Tj will bully the shit out of his brothers but they both feel terrible about the shit theyd done to him in the past to get him to where he is so they never do anything about it
