1- When did you start playing Choices? What was the first book you played?

Way back when Choices first launched. My first book was The Freshman Series - book 1. It was so fun to play the books and get super excited for new chapters. I was waiting until midnight for new chapters. It was the first time I’ve played an app where I could make decisions and use diamonds for VIP scenes 😍

2- When and why did you join Choices fandom?

I joined the Choices fandom back in 2021. I really missed Open Heart after book 3 ended (and left me wanting more) So I wanted to see if there were any more stories I could binge, and that’s how I stumbled upon Tumblr 🥰

3- How did you pick your blog name?

It may sound weird but it just came to me. Peonies are my favorite flowers. As soon as I thought peonie I quickly added rose and I was like that sounds so cool and it’s unique which I love 😍 And that’s how peonierose was born.

4- Pull up the first post in your archive, and tell us about it!

Gosh. This feels like forever ago. When I first came on tumblr I didn’t post or reblog much 😅 (too shy to interact with anyone 🙈)

5- How long have you been writing fanfiction?

It has been 2 years in August this year since I’ve actively started writing fanfic 🥰 (I still can’t believe I actually made the leap and decided to post any of my stories).

6- What is your favorite Choices book, and what is your favorite Choices book to write about?

You’re really going to make me choose? There are so many good ones 😱

I love to write for two of my favorite books which are Nightbound and Open Heart. Those are the ones I feel most connected to 🥰 Though I’d love to venture out and make edits or social media posts for other choices books too.

7- Share the first fanfic you wrote with us. Do you still like it, or would you change it if you were writing it today?

I wrote Robin‘s Tell-All from TNA, and it was the first fic I’ve ever shared. I really wanted to write a story from Robin‘s POV and how all that happened in TNA affected him and all the mistakes he made.

I wanted to showcase his inner struggle.

I remember how nervous I was to post something that I’d written. I thought to myself, will people even like my story? And if they do like it, then what? It was a great rush to see the reblogs, and the love for my first-ever posted fic.

If I could change one thing, it would probably be the moodboard 😅

8- What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?

That is a tough question, because to me every fic I‘ve written has a special place in my heart. So every story reflects the feelings I’ve felt while writing my story.

Buuuuut if I had to choose: It would be a tie between By a Landslide (Bryce and Luna), the 3rd chapter of my Nightbound series - Unexpected and Go with the Flow (Luna & Bryce)

9- Do you have a fic that you didn’t expect to be well received, but it was? What about one you expected to be but found could use a little more love?

I actually didn’t think I’m a sucker for you, A Pinch of Pink and Blue…This one‘s for you, Cinnamon Sugar and Wildflower, to be as well received as they did.

However, I think Bittersweet Symphony and Losing Game (1 / 4) could use some more love.

Both stories are amazing and I think you’ll love both my pairings. Luna & Bryce and of course Maxine and Adam.

10- If you could write only angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why?

I am by no means a smut writer 😅 Maybe I’ll get there 😅 But I’d go with a mix between angst and fluff. I think a nice balance between these two would be good.

11- Do you ever recognize yourself in any of your MCs or in your writing?

Yeah. Tons of times. Take Luna for example. She has anxiety like me, and her appearance, such as her blue-green eyes and dark blonde hair, are like mine. But character wise we’re complete opposites. I wish I’d be more artistic like her 🩷

And Bryce is an Aries like me, and so many things he says or does make me go back, and I’m like, yeah, I would say something like that. Other than that, I’ve learned to give my characters real flaws and make them human, if that makes sense. But it does happen that they end up with character traits that are mine, and then I lean back and realize I’ve given my characters some of my weird and quirky character traits 🤣

12- What element of writing do you struggle with most?

Damn. Umm…I struggle with a lot of things. Finding the right words sometimes because English isn’t my first, not even my second language. I speak six languages, so it's sometimes hard to find the words to describe things.

Showing, not telling that’s another thing I struggle with.

That and if I have to keep a deadline to post something 🤣 Because it takes me forever to post anything I’m not 100% behind and happy with.

13- Do you have any neglected work you really want to finish?

How much time you’ve got? I have over 30 wips, that want some desperate attention, and I always keep adding new wips, whenever something inspires me to write 😅

I’ve found some new inspo for Somewhere Only We Know 🥰 Apart from that I’d love to take another look at my two AU‘s Amber & my Nightbound series. So we’ll see what wips I can manage to finish 😅

14- If someone you know in real life (who isn’t involved in fandoms) asked to read your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you recommend they read first?

Sure. I’d love to get an outside opinion of my work and my characters that are so beloved and close to my heart 🩷

I actually tell people that I write fanfic and original work. And I’ve sent some samples their way and they liked it. Which makes me feel more confident in my writing (not saying it’s perfect, there’s always room for improvement, but it’s getting better).

As for which story to start? I’d say start with Only Love for Bryce and Luna. That was my first story of them and I consider it their start.

Then continue with Always & Forever and Go with the Flow.

Those were my first posted stories about Luna & Bryce and I think you’ll like them. It would give you a good understanding of my storytelling and my characters.

15 - Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing?

There are a couple of authors I admire - Chloe Neil, Elise Kova, Nalini Singh, Rachel Caine (R.I.), Rebecca Yarros, and many more. They have influenced and shaped my writing, my fantasy world-building, and, of course building my characters. These authors know how to tell great stories, which makes me admire them so much.

As for fanfic writers who’ve inspired me? I’d love to give a special shoutout to one of my closest friends who’s been my beta reader for almost anything @annieruok She’s an amazing person and writer. Thanks so much for all the times listening to my ramblings about scenes and characters 🩷

16- Which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series?

My Nightbound series hands down. That is a story that really deserves to be on the big screen or as a Netflix show. I’m not picky.

I’d love to see Grey, Gretel and Hänsel kick some ass. It’s a unique enough story to garner some attention 🥰 I’ve worked really hard to write it and it took me a year to come up with chapters, character names and so forth.

Also Somewhere Only We Know would be cool to see on the big screen. I’d probably weep from joy if any of my stories were ever developed as a movie or series 🥰🥹

17- Do you write original fiction?

Yes, I actually do. I have several original works in my Google docs. And just recently, I had an idea for another original story (I don’t feel comfortable sharing it yet) 🥰 But let’s just say it’s fun to come up with the characters and world-building and everything in between.

18 - What other hobbies do you have?

Reading books, trying out new recipes in the kitchen. This also reminds me I need to exercise more 🤣

Taking walks & going shopping.

Hanging out with friends and binge watching shows and movies on Disney+ and Netflix. Just trying to enjoy every single moment that every day has to offer 🩷

19 - What’s your favorite emoji?

It’s a toss between these three 🥰😍🩷 (What can I say I love pink 🩷 not just because of the new Barbie movie and the pinkmania 🩷)

Cadybear's Reviews- The Billionaire's Baby

As of the day I’m posting this, this is the last series on the list of Choices stories that I’ve actually fully completed. So what does this mean for Cadybear’s Choices Reviews?

First of all, I can now upload a review (or re-review, for already-reviewed series) of a series sooner after actually completing it. While taking some time to complete a review does let me think about it more, I would prefer my reviews to be more fresh. And like I said, all reviews are subject to more updated re-reviews if necessary.

Second, there are still quite a handful of series on my tierlist where they consist of multiple books, but I haven’t played all of them– TRR, BOLAS, COP, ID, etc. Some of which are still waiting for more books. While I’d generally prefer to review by series rather than by book, I do still have these books ranked on my tierlist with all the rest, and sharing a review for them will at least provide insight to my thoughts on the books and why I gave them the ranking that I did.

So I may or may not plan to write up reviews for those kinds of books. But if I do, I’ll probably title them differently from the usual “Cadybear’s Reviews” or “Cadybear’s Brief Thoughts”. I’ll probably make them as less formally set up reviews, like a more casual text posts. We’ll see.

Third of all, as much as I love to share my thoughts on certain books, I also love to hear what other people think. So I may plan a little something bonus for the books where I’ve provided very extensive thoughts on them… stay tuned.

Welcome to the forty-first official Cadybear's Reviews! Today I'll be talking about The Billionaire's Baby, which I have ranked on the "PooPoo Tier" at 1 star out of a possible 10.

Bruhhhh. This is literally just a TNA clone but with a surrogate instead of a nanny. This is literally the pregnancy plot that PB clearly wanted to have with TNA. Yeah, I stand by my statement that if TNA wasn’t GOC LI, they’d have had Sam accidentally knock up MC at the company gala in Book 1 (hence the Jenny and Aditya subplot in Book 3, to make up for being unable to do that with MC and her LI). And I’m gonna hazard a guess that if TBB wasn’t GOC LI, they’d have had Cole accidentally knock up MC in a one-night stand in the first chapter. Granted they already did the whole “MC gets accidentally knocked up by billionaire LI” thing with BaBu Book 1 Chapter 1, but clearly that wasn’t good enough for PB since there wasn’t an affair involved, just Cassandra acting like she was supposed to be Clint’s future wife.

Okay, maybe what I’m saying might be a bit far-fetched. But I really do mean what I said about this being “TNA: Pregnancy Edition”.

Right from her very first appearance, they make LI’s current partner Daphne very irritable and callous and disagreeable, obviously so she can be a straw loser villain and make the MC seem like the “better woman” for the LI. Y’know, just like Sofia and Addison in TNA.

And of course, said LI’s current partner turns out to have been cheating on the LI all this time. Y’know, just like what happened with Sofia in TNA.

They even have Joss, a LI-gender-determinant character that MC can be flirty with a little to make the actual LI jealous. Y’know, just like Robin and Jordan in TNA.

Demi is the MC’s best friend who solely exists to churn out “le girly girl talk” exclusively about how MC totally deserves to be with the LI and to give MC the premium outfits that will totally turn on the LI. Y’know, just like Jenny in TNA.

Honestly, the only thing that’s surprised me about this book is that Joss wasn’t the one Daphne was cheating on our LI with. Which just makes it worse because now there’s just no point to Joss’s character other than to be Windows Vista Robin. Like, at least actual Robin had some actual character and point to existing in the story.

This book is just so unserious. A lot of Choices smut books try to force “true romantic feelings of love” onto couples that are clearly purely lust-based, TNA included. But this one is the motherfucking GOD of that. It puts TNA to shame in that regard.

Though, I’m gonna be honest, I think TNA as a whole was leagues better than TBB.

For one thing, TNA is at least honest about being an affair story. But I guess “The Surrogate Affair” doesn’t sound as marketable, huh? Sure, let’s instead just bait people into thinking the affair story is something actually compelling like FCL did.

For second, TNA at least had memorable characters like the Twins and Carter, and most of the other supporting characters did at least feel like actual characters. Characters like Robin, Sofia, Addison, Carter, Aditya, Paolo, even smaller ones like Sam’s parents, do genuinely stick with me. Characters like Carmen, Harrison, Joss, Collie’s parents, that one guy that Demi was crushing on… yeah you’ll probably forget they even exist barely an hour after you finish the story.

Thirdly, I can at least somewhat buy Sam admiring MC for how good she is with the twins. And their attraction to each other was more tolerable too because, as awful as MC was for pursuing Sam, I never got the feeling that she felt entitled to them. Whereas IDK what else Collie sees in MC other than “hee hoo sexy woman”, and it’s worsened by how much MC acts entitled to them, how much she goes on and on about how she should be with them instead of Daphne.

And last, the first TNA book at least plays up the affair aspect by having Sam and MC anticipate the trouble they’ll be in at the end. Books 2 and 3 were unnecessary garbage for sure, but at least during the first book, they had some sense of humility and self-awareness. TBB not only has none of that, but it thinks it has the fucking balls to throw in this end message about “remember to follow your heart”. If that isn’t just outright stating you want people to take your affair story seriously as being about true love rather than the lust-based affair it actually is, then IDK what is.

Like… overall, TNA may be pretty derivative and melodramatic too, but it’s at least fun and engaging to some degree? It has its own “so bad it’s good” charm to it. Like the writers actually cared about giving us a somewhat enjoyable affair story, even if it wasn’t very high-quality.

TBB is just… empty. The only thing it does better than TNA is that it ended after one book.

Now, this story gets a lot of understandable and deserved hate, but despite that I myself am ranking this on PooPoo Tier, I’m not even sure I can hate it because it’s just… so derivative in every way. Cheating, pregnancy, and billionaire romance is a combination that has probably been done countless times by literally every other VN app like Chapters and Episode that tries to pander to the “Facebook Moms” stereotype. I don’t even play those apps, I never have, but I’m pretty sure they’ve done this whole “OhEhmGee you’re pregnant with the baby of a sexy powerful billionaire isn’t that sooo hotttt???” thing already like a million times now. If MTFL is the equivalent to a dog eating another dog’s shit and then shitting it back out again, TBB is the equivalent to a dog eating its OWN shit, probably mixed with some other dogs’ shit too, and then shitting it all out into a great big steaming mess much worse than its predecessors.

And one of the worst things about it all is… how tragic this whole story’s existence is. The moment I heard this was about MC being a surrogate for a billionaire couple and you “uncover their scandals”, there was a small period of time when I was hopeful that this story wouldn’t be as cliched and formulaic as the title made it seem. (Of course, that short period of time ended when I learned that the LI was gonna be one of the members of the billionaire couple). Like, this could have been a story where MC doesn’t romance Collie (or even better, has both Daphne and Collie as LI options) and is a surrogate for them, but it turns into a sort of mystery story where you uncover a history of dirty scandalous secrets behind the couple, and your MC starts to feel conflicted about giving them this child and leaving said child in the hands of this couple while knowing all the shit they’ve done.

But no, we had to go with an affair story and the only “scandal” is that the billionaire couple doesn’t love each other. Oh wow, so spicy amirite? (Haha no)

So, why do I have this one in the “PooPoo Tier”? Seeing as I reserve that tier for books that actively anger me. TBB was originally ranked in the Stone Tier because of how little substance it had and how little emotion it evoked from me.

But as soulless and substanceless as it was, I eventually figured that it really did deserve to be in the worst list. Because it just does… everything wrong, from the very beginning. It baits us into thinking it’s a good story, only to give us a cheap affair story. It’s a rehash of previous, more mediocre Choices stories. It forces us to take it more seriously than it actually deserves. All of the characters are lackluster and empty.

Seriously, name me one thing that this story does right. I originally had this book on Stone Tier with books like Ms. Match, Slow Burn, Roommates With Benefits, and the whole TNA trilogy, but at least those books had some redeeming qualities. Heck, even all of the other books on PooPoo tier have some redeeming qualities. Surrender at least explored BDSM acts a bit and tried to normalize kink. FCL at least had some good energy with the road trip setting and all the different places the group explored. Untameable at least didn’t have toxic behaviors glorified as acceptable, heroic, or passable. Granted I still consider those books worse for how badly they fucked things up when they easily couldn’t have– they anger me because there are multiple points where they could have taken their story in a better direction but didn’t, and instead chose to make their story worse.

But TBB was pretty much doomed from the moment it confirmed we’d be romancing one of the members of the billionaire couple we’re a surrogate for. There’s no point of this story where it could have been even somewhat decent if they changed it, unless they just threw the whole thing out and started over from scratch.

And that’s why I think I can safely say, it’s among the worst.

“Chances Are” Ch. 10 (Book 2 In the “Chances” Series) Finn Bálor X OC

Pairing: Finn Bálor X Female OC Summary: After a traumatic childhood and a murder attempt that left her with a heart condition, Miracle Seanoa wants nothing more than to find some peace and fulfillment in her life. Working as a writer for WWE, she's shocked when Stephanie McMahon takes a gamble on her skills and assigns her to a new RAW roster member. None other than Finn Bálor—the man who'd long ago saved her life and captured her heart.

Finn Bálor left his career as a police officer behind in order to chase his true dream of becoming a professional wrestler. Working incredibly hard within NXT, he soon finds himself drafted to Monday Night RAW. He's shocked to see Miracle again, but even more shocked is he to see what a stunning woman she's become.

However, someone else has had his eye on Miracle for a long while. With his infatuation turning to a deep, dark obsession, he's not going to give up on her easily. Finn will have to resort to his past skills as a cop, to protect the woman he loves.

Chapter 10

"What are ya talking about, lass?"

"Just what I said," Miracle replied, avoiding Finn's gaze. "I may choose to not come back to WWE. I may try to get on at TNA, or ROH. Maybe even go to New Japan."

"You're trying to run from me, aren't you?"

"Not trying, Finn. I am. As far as I can."

"It's not going to work," Finn said, rising up to sit by her on the bed. He took her hand in his. "I won't let it."

"It's not your choice," Miracle said, trying to move away from him.

His hand moved up to her face and latched onto her chin. Turning her face and making her meet his bright blue eyes, he spoke softly. "I'll make it so hard for you to leave," Finn told her. His gaze scanned her face and settled on her lips. "You'll never think of leaving me again." With that, his mouth was on hers, kissing her gently, softly.

His lips trailed down her chin to her neck. "I love you, Miracle."

"No. No you don't," Miracle whispered, leaning into the pressure of his mouth despite her words.

"I do," he nipped her neck gently. "I'll prove it to you if you give me time."

"I can't. Finn, stop!" She pulled away from him and lightly touched her neck where his lips had lingered. "You can't do this to me! Just because you know I love you doesn't give you the right to use that! To use me."

"I'd never use you, love," he said sadly. "And if you think I'm going to stand by and let you leave without-"

"Let me leave?" Miracle tossed out a bitter laugh. "I don't need your permission to leave, Finn." She stepped closer to him and jabbed her index finger into his muscled chest. "And if you didn't want me to leave then you shouldn't have put me in this position. Now get out!"

"Let me kiss you again and then tell me to leave," Finn challenged, a slight smirk playing at his lips.

"No!"

"Because you know you can't. You love me still. Admit it."

"I never said I stopped loving you," she snapped. "My feelings for you are not on trial here. You are the one that messed up Finn. Not me. You have to live with it. Now please leave before I call for Daddy."

"I'll leave. But mark my words, Miracle. I'll never give up on you. I know what I want and it's you. And when something I want is in my sights, it inevitably becomes mine."

Miracle's breath shuddered in her chest as Finn gathered up his leather jacket and left the room.

"God, help me stop loving him," she prayed aloud. "Help me to let him go."

"So what do you think it will take for me to win Miracle back," Finn asked AJ as he dug into his grilled chicken. The two men were sitting at a table in catering at Monday night RAW. Finn was eating and mentally preparing for the fatal fourway match he had with Cesaro, Rusev, and Kevin Owens that night. He was booked to win the match and then go on to face Roman Reigns who would win his own fatal fourway. Then whichever of the two won would go on to face Seth Rollins for the coveted, and new, WWE Universal title at Summerslam the following month.

"Brother, I don't know if you can," AJ replied, taking a long drink of his iced tea. "You really hurt her."

"I know I did," Finn mumbled, taking a bite of food. "But this can't be it. I have to win her back, AJ. I just have to."

"It'll take time," AJ said. "Whatever you do, it'll take time. Just remember that."

Finn nodded, "I know." He thought for a moment, "You think I could start with flowers? Maybe see if she'd let me come over for dinner? Just to talk?"

"I suppose you could try," AJ said, "But I wouldn't count on it."

Finn already had his phone out. "She's going to leave in a day or two and I have no idea where she's going. She's not even telling Joe or Ella where she's headed."

"That's not very safe with her heart acting the way it has been," AJ commented, worry etching his features. "What is she thinking?"

"She's being a brat," Finn commented. "I realize I hurt her, but she doesn't have the right to worry everyone else." He scrolled through his contacts and placed the call. "Hello, Miracle? Yes I know you're busy packing and getting ready for your trip. I just… I just wanted to see if I could maybe stop by later for dinner so we could talk. Please?" AJ watched as Finn paused between sentences. "I just want to talk, Miracle. What you're doing isn't fair. No, it's not fair to everyone else. Please, just let me stop by then, forget dinner." His face lit up. "Okay, that's all I wanted. I'll be there in a couple of hours. Okay, bye."

He hung up the phone and looked at AJ. "I'm in."

AJ chuckled, "I wouldn't say you're in just yet, man. It's like you said, you're gonna talk."

"You just had to go and burst my bubble, didn't ya," Finn quipped.

The two spent the rest of their lunchtime eating and talking about the show that night.

Miracle was still packing on a suitcase when there was a knock at her apartment door.

"Oh, Finn," she grumbled on her way to the door. He was early. "You've got to give me a break." She reached the door and pulled it open, discovered Joe, Ella and Nathan on the other side of it. "Oh, Daddy, Mom… Hi! Hi, Nate," she added, ruffling the little boy's black hair. She let them inside and closed and locked the door behind them.

"Baby, we really wish you wouldn't go off on your own and not tell us anything," Joe started. "It's not safe with your heart the way it is."

"I'll be fine, Daddy," Miracle insisted. "We've been over this. I need some time by myself. Completely by myself. If y'all knew where I was, you'd be constantly visiting, and I need to recharge my batteries. Plus, I'd be afraid that you'd let it slip to Finn or something."

"But you're also quitting WWE," Ella cut in. "You only just got promoted to Creative. That's what you've always wanted."

"I don't know that I'm quitting WWE," Miracle replied. "I'm just not sure yet. Even if I do, I can go over to TNA or ROH. I could even try New Japan!" she said, excitement in her voice.

"Japan?" Joe demanded, "No way in-!"

"Daddy-"

"He just means that it's so far away," Ella tried to diffuse the situation. "And again, with your heart…"

"I'll be fine," Miracle repeated. "My mind is made up, guys. The choice is mine to make."

"Please don't go," Nathan cried suddenly. "I"ll miss you Mir'cle."

"Aww, I'll miss you too, little man," Miracle said, leaning down and hugging her brother. "But I have to do this."

"Well, should we all go out to dinner and discuss this a bit more," Joe suggested.

"I can't, Daddy. Finn is coming over in a bit and he's going to try to talk me out of going too," Miracle reported with a roll of her eyes.

"Finn is coming here?" Joe nearly thundered.

"Daddy! Shhh! I live in an apartment, you know? I don't need you getting me kicked out for breaking the noise ordinance."

Sure enough a loud thud came through the floor of her apartment then. "See? You already have them using their broom to hit their ceiling. That's code for 'Shut up!'" She joked. She sighed when neither parents nor brother laughed. "I'll be perfectly fine, you guys. Don't worry."

Dejected, the family left Miracle then, seeing that their discussion had done no good.

"I love you all," MIracle waved goodbye to them as they trudged down the hallway to the staircase.

"We love you too," Joe said, giving his daughter a purposeful stare.

"I'll see you before I leave, and I'll also call you while I'm gone. I promise."

With a sad nod, Joe turned around and followed after Ella and Nathan.

As soon as they were gone, Miracle picked up her cell phone and scrolled through the contacts till she came to her Great Uncle-Jeff Jarrett.

"Hi, Uncle Jeff? Yes, it's Miracle. I'm glad to hear your voice too." Once they'd small-talked for a bit, she explained some of the situation with Finn and the attack, and proceeded to talk about her plans to leave-to get away for a while. Just as she'd hoped, Jeff spoke up and said, "Well, you know I have that cabin out in the woods just down the road from us…"

Miracle was just zipping her one of her several suitcases shut when there was another knock at her door. Somehow she just knew…

She hurried to the door and opened it to find the object of her suspicions.

Finn.

With a bouquet of pink roses in his arms.

And oh, did he look as good as ever.

"Hi," she said, almost shyly, and moved aside so he could step inside.

"Hi, beautiful," he said softly, brushing his lips across her cheek. "These are for you." He added, handing her the bouquet.

"Thank you, Finn. They're beautiful. But you really shouldn't have." She took the bouquet and moved toward her little kitchen, in search of a vase for the flowers.

I didn't know what kind you liked the best so I went with what reminded me of you.

"Pink roses are actually my favorite," she said softly, a flush creeping up her pretty face. "Thank you again."

"You're welcome."

Finn joined her in the kitchen as she filled a large vase with water and then arranged the flowers carefully in the flower holder.

"Shall we sit and talk," he asked, taking her hand. He led her to the sofa and they both sat down.

"What exactly are we talking about," Miracle asked. "I am leaving, Finn. You can't change my mind on that."

"I can try."

"I need some distance for now," she told him. "Please, understand."

"I do understand, but I'm selfish, Miracle," Finn told her. "I'll never quit trying to get you to stay. Stay wit' me," he finished, leaning toward her slightly, and taking her hand in both his. "I am in love with you. I really am."

"Then why did you make out with Becky or have sex or whatever it was you were doing?"

"I got scared of how fast I was developing feelings for ya, and I wanted to make sure the feelings were real before I acted on them. My logic was that if I...had sex with Becky and I still wanted you as badly as I did before, my feelings were real and valid. If not, I was just being a horny bastard and didn't deserve you."

"Well… which was it?"

"I'm in love with you, Miracle. I got nothing out of my time with Becky. Nothing."

"Why didn't you talk to me about it? Because now, I don't know if I'd ever be able to trust you in a relationship, Finn."

"I didn't want to hurt you. Which is what I wound up doing anyway," Finn rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm sorry, love. So sorry. But you can trust me. I promise."

Miracle's eyes filled with tears then. "I… I wish I could Finn. I do." She swallowed hard and wiped gently at her eyes. "Let's just be friends for now. I trust you as a friend. But as a lover….I'm just not sure I can."

"I'll take friendship, but I'm not giving up loving you. And I will make it as difficult for you to deny me, as I can. That I can promise."

"You're not playing a fair game," she told him, pulling her hand from his.

"I'm not playing a game," Finn told her. "I'm fighting for your love."

She looked away, unsure of how to respond.

His hand came to her face and turned it back to his. "I love you. So much, lovely." His mouth touched hers in the slightest of kisses. "I'd kick my own arse if I could, for hurting you."

"I'm pretty sure Daddy would help you with that," she tried to joke, pulling her face away from his as discreetly as possible. "He's very angry with you."

"Let's not talk about your father right now," Finn whispered, capturing her mouth with his once again.

She pulled back once more, "Finn, stop. Really." Shakily, she rose from the sofa and went to the door. "I think it's time for you to leave. Now."

"But we haven't really talked."

"That's on you," she told him, holding the door open. "I was trying to talk. While, you're trying to… not talk."

Reluctantly, Finn stood to his feet. "Will this be the last time I see you?"

"For a while, yes."

"Okay, you go and clear your head," Finn said. "But when you come back… I want us to talk about this...us," he told her. He stood by her at the door and pulled her into his arms. "And I want you to take a couple of little somethings with you to remember me by."

"And what might they be?"

"One, is this," he said, pulling something from his jeans pocket. He took her hand and placed her claddagh ring back on her finger. "Right where it belongs," he said with a soft smile, his eyes crinkling at the outer corners. "And the other thing…"

"Y-yes," Miracle asked, dazedly. Obviously shocked to see her ring again.

"Just this," He said, before leaning in and kissing her softly. The kiss quickly turned from soft and loving to passionate in the blink of an eye. His lips moved against hers roughly and then his tongue was demanding entrance to her mouth. She helplessly opened for him and let his mouth devour hers. He groaned against her lips and deepened the kiss even more. Finally, he pulled back briefly, and touched his forehead to hers, staring into her eyes. "I'm not giving you up, Miracle." He said softly. "Not ever."

"I don't think I want you to," Miracle admitted breathlessly. "But it's going to take some time for me to let go with you again," she added. "I'm still leaving, you know. I do need a vacation and to recharge a bit."

"I understand," Finn said, brushing a final kiss across her lips. "And I'll be waiting for you."

Hi Choices Fandom

I’ve played Choices since 2018 or so, I tried it out around its release but I didn’t get really into it until HSS and DD. I then fell in love with the ItLives series, Most Wanted and Endless Summer. I started to drift away a bit until Platinum and ACOR and I was hooked again. Them Bolas released and I was obsessed.

I know I’m going to sound like a broken record but, I miss the old books, I’m not into the smutty new books, I remember when TNA first came out- the controversy surrounding it was high. Now it seems like all they write for the app anymore? I think the last book I played in its entirety was Queen B…

Im not sure, to be honest I haven’t been on the app for about a year, I just float around on Tumblr appreciating the fan art/fics for the older books.

And still waiting on Bolas2 😔

Are there any books releasing at the moment that anyone would recommend that doesn’t include intense smut? I just miss the fun of books like HSS, the romance in DD, the adventure of books like the ItLives series, ES and Bolas. There are just so many find memories from so many books, I haven’t even listened them all, OH, TE, etc.

Rambling time again, been thinking about HSS again and how it's much better at slow-burn type romances than most modern Choices books. You have a variety of LIs, and while each of them can come off as somewhat "closed off" they do so in vastly different ways.

Emma is a shy wallflower who has bad luck with crushes and also struggles with her parents' divorce.

Maria is serious and stern and focused on her leadership work, overworked as she's striving for the top.

Aiden (my precious baby) is socially awkward, reserved, focused on his music and not making much time for else, and afraid of failure.

Michael (also my beloved) is aloof and more cautious about forming close relationships due to his experiences with being bullied in past schools, afraid of letting people down.

Caleb is more friendly and open but is dealing with being cheated on by his ex gf and betrayed by his childhood best friend (TNA take notes btw).

Like you just have this variety of characters who have different contexts for taking time to warm up to you. Sure, there are some similar characteristics (Emma and Aiden both being shy, Maria and Aiden both being overworked and afraid of failure), but their overall characterizations are fleshed out well and are different enough that I can distinguish them as different characters. And the MC is also really flexible, allowing us to interpret these romance dynamics however we see fit. That, and the series being 3 books long, really helps the relationship feel authentic and earned and naturally-developed.

Most modern Choices books- TNA, SB, Surrender even books I enjoyed like TPA, SW, and TCH- they just rely on the same formula of eccentric/flirty MC and broody emotionally-distant LI. COP switches it up a little with LI being the eccentric flirty one and MC being the broody one, I do like TPA MC being a little more suave James Bond-ish in nature, and TCH wasn't overly horny, but that's about it.

Not helping is the fact that these are almost all single LI books, you'd think PB making only one LI per book all the time would make it easier for them to have more variety in these LIs, but no.

HSS also has an advantage most modern books don’t: it had a very near and dear place to most (possibly all) of the staff’s hearts because the original app was a project many of them had worked on. Obviously they cared about it and they cared about the Choices series enough to try hard to do it justice.

The love interests in HSS are fleshed out as you said. The issue with most modern love interests is that for the most part, they’re very one-dimensional and don’t give us much motivation or desire to explore their routes and get to know them better.

And yeah, it sure doesn’t help that a lot of books these days are single love interest books. So unfortunately, if you don’t like the single love interest in a book? Tough luck, buddy. You probably won’t like the book itself either.

I do hope they’ll get better because 2022 was a very rough year.

My Playchoices MCs #1

I’ve been messing around with Choices assets for a while so now I finally decided, fuck it, might as well start posting them. This is going to be a series about my Choices MCs, starting here with TNA. If you’re confused as to why Sofia is listed as LI here, it’s because I refuse to accept the fact that she isn’t. Notes and more edits under the cut.

Anita one of the very few MCs for whom I (almost) kept their canon name.

She has Dutch ancestry, but the last three generations in her family were born and raised in the US.

Her mother died not long before the events of the first book, which was very hard on her dad and her. It took a toll on her career, which is how she ended up in this whole mess as Dalton’s nanny.

My direction with her character was basically ‘everyone’s favourite grade school teacher’. She’s sweet and friendly and she genuinely enjoys spending time with children. She’s also a liiitle bit of a pushover, so she lets kids get away with more, and they love her for that.

This flaw gets her into trouble though because she lets others abuse her kindness and has trouble cutting ties with toxic people *cough Jenny cough cough*

But, it is thanks to her ungodly amount of patience that she and Sofia work so well together.

Sofia really didn’t like her, until Anita started working at Dalton Inc. and Sofia saw the potential in her. Ever since, she’s been the main driving factor in Anita’s development. While Anita always doubts her abilities, Sofia is like, ‘If I say you can do it, you can’ (and she’s usually right, she’s a good judge of character).

Anita is used to people babying her because of her meek personality, so she actually appreciates Sofia’s tough love and brutal honesty.

In this AU, some of the events of books 1 and 2 would go in a different order. The Expo happens way earlier, which helps Sofia realise she is already good enough and doesn’t need Sam to achieve her goals, so she calls off the engagement herself.

Anita loves her job at Dalton-Russo. She was always passionate about ecology and the environment. I imagine she was quite an activist during late high school/early college.

She likes trashy romance/erotica novels. TNA would be her jam. She is lowkey horny most of the time, which you wouldn’t expect from her looks.

She has a soft spot for fast food like hamburgers and pancakes, in contrast to miss private-nutritionist-personal-trainer Sofia. They are still working on finding a lifestyle that would suit them both.

Anita has a good relationship with Sam. They were never romantically involved, and she quit her job as a nanny, but she still babysits Mikey and Mason when she can (because she adores them). She is also still involved with the parens committee at their school, helping with organising events etc.

Sofia will never admit to it, but she’s very impressed with how well Anita handles kids. She could never.

Anita says she doesn’t pick favourites but she obviously has a soft spot for Mason because he reminds her of herself when she was a kid.

Anita and Sofia on a vacation at Sofia’s villa in Italy. Well, not really a vacation since Sofia is a workaholic to the bone, but sometimes she likes to go there for a change of pace. I took a chance to change Sofia’s hair and blouse, cause like, she’s hot, but I can make her even hotter, and that’s what she deserves. For Anita, I ended up using none of the hairstyles or clothes from the actual book (except the earring lol) because, although some of them are really nice, they weren’t working for the character I envisioned. She is sweet and preppy rather than mature and sexy, but she’s still stylish enough to earn Sofia’s begrudging approval.
