Season 4, Episode 26 - Réplique (La Dernière Attaque de Papillombre - Partie 2) \ Strike Back (Shadow Moth's Final Attack - Part 2)
Tumblr media
I start with my predictions for this episode in the post about Risk: I have mistaken the dog Miraculous with the fox, hahahaha!!! It was because I hadn't paying much attention to the image (since it was a spoiler I didn't want to see), the dog and the fox Miraculous users have very similar orange colors (so really, the dog should have used darker brown color), and I was sure Félix had fox-like tail on the picture. I had to imagine it, since I assumed in advance that he got the fox, there was no other options.
Personally I preferred Risk over Strike Back, that's the first time when I liked the first part of the finale more than the second. Though both episodes were better than the rest of season 4. It's because I'm disappointed by the Shadow Moth's plan. Risk had promised an epic battle, in which Gabriel will do something very risky and unusual to him. But in fact he wasn't risking anything, he only sent a very boring sentimonster, very similar to his first akuma: Stone Heart, who is just mindless monster destroying everything in its path. He wasn't even showed up to the heroes or something, just waiting for Ladybug making a big mistake, he did nothing as himself really. So for what was the whole big travel, confiding his wife's ring and his son to Nathalie like he thought he could die soon. He was overdramatic for nothing. So well, though the battle scenes were not bad at all, there were still better than usual, I was expecting something even bigger, more epic.
Tumblr media
But I need to say I really, really loved Risk, this boy was so cute with his bravery. Just look at him. So adorable little frog boy. Now I want a frog Miraculous, please. *_* And I want to see him in the future, but that's probably not gonna happen. And I want to draw him, maybe someday.
It's another time I don't know what to say next, because I have too many thoughts in my head and I'm worried that I will forget about something.
Tumblr media
Another thing I didn't like in the episode the most. Nothing has changed, Marinette was still treating Alya like a sacred cow. She didn't learn anything even after discovering that her best friend betrayed her trust, did something related to Miraculous without asking the guardian for the permission AGAIN. She immediately forgave her like nothing happened. I'm sure that if that was any other person, including Chat Noir, her reaction would be totally different. We've seen in the New York special that one Chat's big mistake had made her very angry at him and lost all her trust in him (even if only for a moment). On the other hand, she is showing that Alya can do anything, there woul never be consequenced, Marinette is completely losing the rest of her rationality when it comes to her. Is she really in love with Adrien, isn't Alya love of her life?
"I can't lie to my best friend" blablah, how we are supposed to buy it if Marinette was able to lie to Alya all three seasons and then all of sudden, it became impossible to her in the fourth one? That's not a good excuse that they can't lie to their friends or boyfriends or anyone else. They can, they just don't want, because it's more comfortable. Or they keep in secret what's needed for the greater good, or they should not be superheroes. They can't have a cake and eat it at the same time. Chat Noir also "can't" keep the secret who he is from Ladybug anymore, so why she isn't letting him what she lets her best friend? That's risky because he can be akumatised? Alya can be as well and tell all her secrets to their enemy. Hypocrisy, double standards and favouritism are remain. In previous seasons Marinette was the one who is overly careful, this season a sudden shift in her behavior happened, at least when it involves her best friend. It was reckless Alya who kept her head on straight at the moment. She was aware she can't be a fox Miraculous holder (at least not a permanent one) when Shadow Moth knows she is still active. For Marinette friend favours were still more important than being a responsible guardian. Bravo for Alya, that was the first time this season when she was really noble, unlike Marinette at that moment, she learned her lesson and she understood that there are more important things that having fun as a superheroine. She had to punish herself (giving up on the Miraculous), seeing the guardian was unable to do that. Though being selfish at that moment would actually made things a bit better at the end (they would not lose the fox at least), but the girls had no chance to know that.
But really, I still think Rena Furtive being a permanent Miraculous holder was totally pointless. In all episodes from 18 to 24 we haven't seen her being active even once, so we have no evidences that she was doing anything all that time. It means, Marinette just could have given her the fox when she was needed, like she did with every other Miraculous holder.
Tumblr media
I can't believe, Félix was was present in only four episodes in total, but he had achived much more than Gabriel throughout all four seasons. Compared to him, Gabriel looks like a pathetic villain even more. If there was no Félix giving him most of the Miraculous on the silver plate, Gabriel's plan would be a total disaster. Once the frog boy got discovered as an akuma, beating him was quite easy, there was no much problems with the sentimonster as well. It was also so lovely to see Félix blackmailing his uncle that he could say Adrien about his mother being hidden in the basement.
So yeah, as I said in my previous post, Adrien's cousin is too good at evil to appear in many episodes, the main characters would have many more problems then. If only he wanted to be an everyday villain. But it looked like he wasn't interested at getting the ladybug and cat Miraculous, fighting with heroes or whatever more. He just wanted the peacock.
I know what that means. Majority of the fandom is all happy that most probably they all were right that Félix is a sentimonster. I can't deny that we got very hard evidences. He was interested only in the peacock and he said he doesn't need Emilie's ring anymore. So it looks like the ring contains his amok, but since he has the peacock Miraculous, no one could control him, so he's safe.
But personally I still hope it isn't true, as I said before I think any "normal" character being a sentimonster, no matter who, doesn't make sense, it would mean that the sentimonster writing is totally fucked up. The show's narration treats every single other one like a tool, even in this episode Strike Back monsters were thrown into magma and no one cared even for a moment. In one of the previous episodes Chat told that akumas are persons, but not sentimonsters. It doesn't really make sense if every single sentimonster, no matter if it looks like a human being or not, is just a tool, but only this one is different and treated by the narration like a person. If Félix is a sentimonster then it means that we have seen persons being killed on screen casually, also by the heroes, in a kid show. Also I don't want Félix who is now one of my favourite characters to be a one. And some other things give me questions. If the ring contains his amok, Nathalie should have sense that Félix is a sentimonster, and then she could have just transform into Mayura, got the ring, and gain total control over him instead of fighting him. Unless Gabriel wasn't aware that the ring is an amoked object. And it also doesn't look like Amelie is aware that her son is a sentimonster, but how she could if she wasn't gave birth to him, he was created by the magical power? Or why he didn't consider gaining the ladybug and cat Miraculous to get a wish like becoming a real human or a sentimonster who can't be controlled by anyone and erased from the existence? So though we got hard evidences, it doesn't add up fully, but knowing that this show has some major plot holes, it still could be true.
Tumblr media
Félix was able to make use of every single information he gained to get what he wants. Gabriel got some "gifts" from Ladybug that he completely missed. If he was smarter, he could have discovered Ladybug's identity or used some of her mistakes against her. Even just after events of S3 finale, he could have noticed that almost all the Miraculous users are from Adrien's class, so instead of telling Optigami to go after teens who had jewels, it could have following other girls to see if one of them is Ladybug. There were other occasions. He discovered that Ladybug and Alya are so close to each other, so when the new ladybug Miraculous user appeared out of nowhere, that wasn't hard to suspect that she could be the same person who was Rena Rouge. But he completely ignored that extremely important information. The same when Cat Walker appeared, and he discovered that there's conflict between Chat Noir and Ladybug. He hasn't even tried to take advantage of the moment when their partnership was so weak.
What he will do next, is he going to remain being a pathetic villain who's wasting most of the occasions to gain any advantage over Ladybug and Chat Noir? He have not only almost all the Miraculous from the Chinese box, but he also know that Ladybug and Rena tricked him, so Alya Cesaire is indeed someone very close to Ladybug. Is he going to finally use that information? Probably not? And what he will plan to do with all these jewels. Knowing him he could be enough crazy to wear them all at once. Or maybe he will try to find more allies, like it's happening in fanfics in which he get access to additional Miraculous. Both Lila and Chloé seems to be perfect candidates. I hope that Lila will get the fox, I think she fits it more than any other character in the show, even Alya.
There's one more thing I'm thinking about. Most probably Félix still has Nathalie's tablet, so if they hadn't copied translation of the grimoire, they don't have access to the information about other Miraculous they could need to use them properly. They are not that stupid to not have have backup of that much important thing, right? And I've checked on the Miraculous Wiki is there's something about when we can expect the start of season 5 and I've seen someone in the comments saying that Gabriel just can use the rabbit to discover the heroes' identities. Yes, but I wonder if he knows about the burrow and how to use it properly? Is there an instruction in the grimoire? Even if yes, from what I remember it was said that Fu hasn't translated everything. Marinette knows how to use burrow thanks to adult Bunnix.
So I wasn't right that Gabriel realized that Félix was pretending to be Adrien in the scene in which "Adrien" said he doesn't want to go on a trip in Risk. But then I don't understand why he started acting weird at some point.
Tumblr media
Hyperventilating Ladybug was one of the most serious things that happened in this show ever, it was like she got panic attack. And I just realized that we got one great Ladrien scene this season. I'm not sure, but there weren't any more in S4, right?
Tumblr media
All of a sudden, Marinette fully understood how much she was unfair to Chat Noir only because she lost all her other allies. If Félix didn't steal her yoyo, nothing would have changed in her attitude towards him. That wasn't satisfying at all. I don't mean she should have lost him as well, but it would have looked much better if she understood that faster, not when she had no other choice but start treating him like a partner again, not unwanted sidekick. It's not looking really sincerely when Chat Noir is the only one hero who remains. It would feel much better if she chose him as her main partner again when she still had Alya and other options, because she appreciates him.
Adrien is too softhearted and he forgave her everything like it was nothing, and he still sees her as perfection That's not healthy, this boy can be easily used by people he cares about. Though of course, there's no time to hold a grudge. They need to be become better partners than ever before, now when there are no other superheroes anymore but Ladybug and Chat Noir and there are more potential supervillains. Adrien can't be mad at her now even if she deserves it. Saving Paris from the crazy man is more important than his hurt feelings.
Oh, I just realized that Ladybus was all blushing when Chat appeared and there was a thunder rumble. The whole thing felt a lot like the famous final scene from Origins, there was only an umbrella missing. So okay, it looks like it was the moment in which Ladybug felt in love with Chat Noir? It could have been a nice scene, if not that it wasn't believable to me anymore, after all those bad things what have happened between them this season.
Sadly, I didn't like how much melodramatic the end of the episode was and that the Parisians were chanting only Ladybug and Ladybug, like Chat was completely forgotten.
Tumblr media
So well, I remember there was a spoiler ages ago that in season 5 Ladybug is going to look for lost Miraculous, now we know what it meant. It wasn't about searching for jewels from other miracle boxes.
I wonder what Su-Han is going to do now. He can't be just a useless jerk anymore, he needs to start helping Marinette like he should have from the start. Knowing him he will try to take away her status of a guardian seeing how incompetent she is, but something will stop him from doing that. And no one should blame him.
And what about Luka, there was nothing explaining why he knows identities of both heroes in the whole season, it was just like it happened only because he is the writers' favourite character. Maybe it would change in season 5, but please do not portray him like a prince on a white horse who will save Marinette and Adrien. I would not stand it, same as her having zero problems with Luka lying to her all the time about that.
What about that thing what Adrien found? I hope it's going to be essential later in season 5 and maybe thanks to it, he will discover that his father is Hawk Moth.
Besides, I noticed that both finale episodes don't have their end cards, I wonder why.
As I said above, I've checked that season 5 is going to premiere this summer, I expected that it will happen this year. But I'm worried that we are going to get the episodes released in even more chaotic order than S4. I hope that at least the first episode will be released as first. I was very worried that I'm not going to watch the next season willingly. Thankfully, this finale gave me hope that S5 is going to be much better, though due to the fact they ruined some important things to me, this show will never be as much liked by me as it was before season 4 started airing.

Season 4, Episode 16 - Hack-san
Tumblr media
Okay, I haven't given up on the show, but that doesn't mean I feel any better about it. My crisis is not over yet and I don't think it will be anytime soon.
I haven't been willing to watch this episode. Not at all. My only motivation was the fact that's the next one will be aired soon. And that I just wanted to get it done and not need to worry about this terrible episode anymore. It helped that I've read and seen some spoilers, so I knew what to expect. I knew all its worst. But watching it was still a pain for me. Hack-san officially becomes a symbol of what's wrong with season 4 in my opinion and why the creators destroyed this lovely show to me. So this post is another one about why I don't enjoy it and at this point I even started being convinced that it's much worse than season 1. And S1 was just an okay children show to me, nice enough to see casually with kids, but nothing I would watch "seriously". So if the whole show was like S1, I would never became a fan in the first place. But now I think it's better, if only because it's more consistent . And I believe in the Love Square watching it. And the characters aren't that much dumbed-down. And Marinette is a better protagonist and hero.
The episode itself is full of illogical nonsense, definitely top 5 the worst ones in the whole history of this show. Even worse than any other Alya-centric ones from 13-17. I probably dislike more only Gang of Secrets from this season, and just because I hate how much melodramatic, emotionally forced and unsubtle it was. This one is more idiotic, but not cheaply dramatic.
There's one thing that payed much attention: Tom said they visit that aunt every year, is that means that it still hasn't been a year since Marinette and Adrien got their Miraculous? Is the whole show (or Gabriel-saga) going to happen in a year only?
Tumblr media
It's so ridiculous that Marinette panicks so much that she needs to leave Paris for a while in the middle of season 4. Like it's the first time. She has done it before three times already, she should have been aware what to do. Another time when the writers make her impossibly stupid. And Tikki as well, if her wielder has memory lapse, she should have reminded her what she has done in such situations before. But no, they need to dumb down the characters to poorly excuse why she is giving the ladybug Miraculous to Alya. They need to try to make us convinced that's the only option. Alya is the only hope for the whole world. The horse Miraculous, space power potions? Who's ever heard of them? Definitely not Marinette. She can't leave her family for some time? She has been able to do that many times before, she would be once more and she is going to continue doing that as long as she's Ladybug. I don't buy the whole thing at all. They just wanted to make another Alya fanservive episode, that's all. There's no logic behind it. Because there's still no enough Alya favouritism this season. She needs to get absolutely every type of favouritism that's any possible.
They also needed absolutely kill the uniqueness of Marinette and Adrien and their relationship. I can't treat the ying-yang Miraculous as the special ones in comparison to others anymore if non-main character (good or bad one) is using any of them. I don't think it's good for narration. In my opinion the ladybug and cat Miraculous and the whole Miraculous secrets thing should be shared only between heroes choosen by Fu at the start of the story. I hate that Alya is involved in everything all of sudden and out of nowhere. If she was the main character from the start, it would be different, but now it feels just wrong to me. Like she's interrupting. Especially that since it's happening, Adrien is kept completely in the dark. She is ignored not only by Marinette and also by the narration. And I know I need to keep to explain once more: that's not problem with Alya herself, I don't want anyone to be favoured as much as she is, even if it was a character I love like Kagami or Alix.
That's of course not objectively wrong thing, that's just my personal preference. In my own ideal scenario no one should be favoured by Marinette and the narration as a hero from all the back-up holders. No one should be permanent Miraculous wielder or everyone should be. Adrien and Marinette should be only ones keepers of the Miraculous lore in the heroes team. It seems the creators have different opinion, that's their show, but I'm sad that because of that I won't be able to like it as much as I was used to before. I don't feel that Adrien, Marinette and relationship between them is any special anymore. There's nothing left unique shared only between them two. Alya has just got the last thing: one of the ying-yang Miraculous. And I would always hate it.
Tumblr media
How could Trixx sounds reasonably all of sudden though he wasn't before? This is why I'm keeping saying that this season is extremely inconsistent. This show's never really been completely, but this season it's turned up to the eleven. It's like the characters don't have constant personalities anymore, they can do anything, no matter if it fits them or not, when it's needed for the plot. If Trixx was supposed to be completely reckless, just like Alya, it's okay, but be consistent! If he is aware that she is not responsible enough, he should warn her much before and point out her selfish actions like taking the Miraculous without asking the guardian. But Tikki is not any better. She has been established as very careful Kwami in previous seasons, who's scolding/warning Marinette when she's doing/planning wrong things. It's not the case anymore this season. Marinette is doing the most stupid and irresponsible things since she's Ladybug, but Tikki doesn't react at all. And if, she only supports her at doing those idiotic things. How stupid do the writers think we are? That no one would even notice how much Tikki (and not only her) is out of character this season?
Or maybe it's not that Trixx is not that much written inconsistent (still it's true that Tikki is completely out of character). I've been writing this post while watching the episode (also because it's easier to handle when I'm taking breaks), but I started this paragraph before seeing the whole scene and at the end it looks like Trixx hasn't became careful out of nowhere, he is just jealous that Alya will transform into a ladybug-themed heroine if a villain appears on the weekend, not Rena Rouge. But that speaks very poorly about him. How could a Kwami be aware that's something wrong with his wielder attitude but doing nothing about that? That's potentially dangerous (there are unsubtle signs that Alya attitude could bring very bad consequences!!!) and the Kwamis should try to help their wielder to be better heroes and persons. That's what Tikki and Plagg have been doing in previous seasons, criticising them when it was needed.
Tumblr media
They've made all the effort to design and model ladybug-themed suit for Alya, but they haven't composed an unique music theme for her transformation? If they just reusing something, why not one of Ladybug's themes (for Mr. Bug they used an alternative version of it, Lady Noire exactly the same like Chat Noir was using in seasons 1-3), but Pigella's one? It doesn't make sense at all. Like season 4 generally. ;)
And personally I'm not a fan of Scarabella desing. It's not awfully bad, but Alya looks a bit weird wearing it for my taste (I have a feeling she's somewhat unnatural), and the other ones from this season were better, especially Pigella and Purple Tigress. Rena Rouge's suit fits Alya much better in my opinion.
Tumblr media
I've seen a post in which someone said that Marinette could not warn Chat Noir that there will be a replacement for her, because she had no time to meet with him in person. That's true, but that's still not a justification. There's no justification. Because you know, their magical phones exist, right? No matter what, she should have been find a bit time to transform into Ladybug and send him a message. That could take no more than a minute.
But no, Marinette has done the worst thing possible. Even the writers doesn't respect their own main character making her that much extremely dumb in that moment. Marinette is supposed to be smart and she has tendency to overthinking about the worst scenarios, there's no way she could believe everything will be good if the new ladybug wielder will appear out of nowhere without warning Chat Noir about a such possibility. That's not only stupid for her, it's also completely out of character. More, she should have not been glad with him automatically trusting her without asking for any evidence she isn't another Shadow Moth's trap. That would mean he is completely irresponsible and stupid. But he still is, because he started to trust Scarabella way too easily. She hasn't shown him any hard evidence that's not a trap. Anyone could say she's trusted by Ladybug. And that thing could be easily fixed: for example she might have hide somewhere and detransform to release Tikki from her Miraculous, who would show to Chat and explain that Scarabella is really someone who wears the earrings at Ladybug request. That's simple like that, but no, it's better to ruin the main characters even more. They were even detransformed close to each other, so why Tikki hasn't shown to him to make it sure?
Trying to Cataclysm Scarabella was not a wise and right thing to do. Yes, but still Chat doesn't deserve as much hate for doing it. He has full rights to think she's a villain. From his point of view that was the most logical reaction. I don't get why some people say he thought she's a villain wearing the real ladybug Miraculous, so he should be aware that using Cataclysm would destroy it. Hawk Moth has done a fake superhero at in season 1. Don't forget about Volpina. What she has done in the S1 finale? She has been trying to win the trust of real heroes and she had the same power like real a real fox-themed Miraculous hero. That's not hard to assume that's similar case. And that's previously happened to him, Ladybug sentimonster has tricked him, no wonder his first reaction was thinking Shadow Moth is trying the same thing again.
Tumblr media
Gabriel is of course dumbed down once more buying so easily Scarabella's plan. There's no way Chat would ever Cataclysm the earrings for real, if he did it, there would be no one who could fix the damage done during the fight with Robostus and purify the akuma. And why he wasn't any surprised seeing a new wielder of the ladybug Miraculous? It hasn't been clear, but I'm sure if he would ever assume that Alya was Scarabella, it would happen only if it's going to be necessary for the plot. While it should have been obvious for him. He is aware Alya is the only person who's very close to Ladybug and he should have now realized that they had tricked him in Sentibubbler. Alya could not be Rena Rouge anymore, but she is still close to Ladybug. There's nothing about it in the episode itself and I highly doubt it will be later.
Tumblr media
The last scene feels completely wrong. Totally wrong. No one other the Love Square scene made me as much uncomfortable as this one. Just no. NO! NO! NO! I can't stand seeing it that they made the any "romantic" atmosphere there, not when Ladybug treats Chat Noir like a shit. No, you can't just add a scene in which she reminds herself that she should laughing when he makes a joke to make him happy and think everything is okay, you gave the evidence that she still cares about Chat's feelings. That's just a lie telling him she will never abandon him, she has already done it. She has no right to say that, since she has replaced him with Rena and she isn't trusting him with anything, any of her plans with her best friend. Marinette could say as many times she want that she cares about him, they are only words. Her actions say something completely opposite.
Maybe I would see this scene different, if it Hack-san was released before Rocketear. But I'm glad it wasn't. It's the first time when I'm happy about random release order. Thanks to it, I can't be fooled by Ladybug. Since the next episode in the production order made it clear: Marinette hasn't learnt any lesson, she is still not going to tell any secrets to Chat. Her attitude towards him is not any better. And the fact that Alya needed to tell her he should know there's someone she trusts much more than him, speaks volumes how much disrespectful (and stupid) she is.
Adrien, you should give up on her completely. It's not healthy for you anymore to excuse her treating you that poorly. She doesn't deserve your faith in her. I'm so sorry, but the faster you realise it, the better for you.
At this point I'm even glad that there's zero development in Adrienette, that they aren't building their friendship like I expected they should this season, there're very few their scenes together alone and no one really significant. Because seeing them hanging out together even if only purely platonic, would also feel so wrong, knowing how terrible Marinette treats Adrien as Ladybug.
Now I'm even wondering, what's the point of Chat Noir being a permanent Miraculous holder? Events of Sentibubbler and Hack-san are showing that the fact she isn't involving him in her plans with Alya at all, makes him potentially very dangerous. In Sentibubbler he could ruin their plan, in this episode he could kill Scarabella. If she isn't going to tell him anything more, she should take away his Miraculous. There are other things that could go wrong. Like what if he would see Rena Furtive? He could attack her, because she isn't supposed to be active anymore. What if Shadow Moth would discover that Chat is kept completely in the dark? He could take advantage of it to create a villian/sentimonster who would try to trick him that they is someone sent by Ladybug.
Hey, Marinette, take away the cat Miraculous and give it to Alya. It's an easy way to fix all your problems! There would be no problems caused by a permanent hero kept in the dark. Alya would be happier when she would not have to hide anymore, as if you think Shadow Moth is not going to discover that Scarabella is your best friend, he wouldn't discover who's the new cat wielder as well, and you could say out loud she's your new partner, you already treat her like one and ignore the current cat wielder. Only Trixx would not be content with it, but you could just find him another wielder and the problem solved! And the last but not least: Chat Blanc would not happen anymore, his civilian self can't be akumatised into him! What's the problem? He has been chosen by Master Fu? What does it matter? You don't follow his rules, so you can try another, better partner for you. You're the guardian, you can do whatever you want, all the Kwamis think you're never wrong! What else? His feelings? Don't pretend you still care about them, you're clearly not. Your best friend's well-being is much more important to you than his. And why we're talking about the feelings? No one's feelings are more important than safety of Paris and the world. Hey, the show has done everything to convince us that Alya is much more trustworthy, much better hero and partner than he has ever been, so that's the most logical route for you! She was better ladybug hero than him, so she would be better cat one as well!!! Alya is just perfect, none her actions are wrong, unlike his! So what are you waiting for?
Tumblr media
The thing I really liked in this episode? Nooroo and Duusu's interaction. And animation quality, it's maybe the best animated episode this season. That's all. Thank you.

Season 4, Episode 17 - Larme Ultime (Rocketear)
Tumblr media
So this is a DjiWifi episode from which comes a screenshot I've seen over a month ago (I think). It's good they got it, before season 4 started I really wanted it to happen and to see a kiss between Nino and Alya in it (but that didn't happen and I don't get why, only the main pairing is allowed to kiss in this show or what?), but now I could not be excited about it anymore, because I'm sick of Alya and I'm not able to hide it. Yes, I'm biased, but I'm just a normal viewer and I have right to dislike her favouritism.
Tumblr media
My the biggest thought after watching this is that it looks like since Optigami, Alya is not only a deuteragonist, like I said in my post about Sentibubbler, she's actually more like a co-protagonist now. That was an extremely Alya-centric episode (even more than Lie was was about Adrien, as it was mostly Ladybug who saved the world like almost always, also because Chat sacrificed himself again), while in Optigami and this one she has screentime comparable to Marinette. I'm still trying to avoid spoilers (so please, don't tell what's going to happen in the next episodes, I don't want to know), but I'm sure that either 15 or 16 is also highly about her, because we've seen the new Rena's suit in this episode and it looked like it wasn't the first episode with it. But really, I won't be surprised if Alya has lots of screentime in both episodes and all others to the end of the show as well. I don't think Adrien is ever going to get as much special treatment like Alya. :/ The creators have never been as nice to him.
Didn't the writes have enough ideas for another story arcs? And thanks to it they were able to save money, because then creators could just reuse old models of villains more than before. Have anyone noticed that S4 has even fewer number of completely new characters than previous seasons? The scientist seen at the start of the episode has detailed model, so she had to be akumatised in any of the previous unreleased episodes (or one of the next ones). And why she looks a lot like Alya, is she her relative? If yes, you know what that means? Another excuse to make an episode full of the fox wielder, because, you know, it’s not like she already got enough occasions to shine in S4.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Rena Rouge's new suit. What a waste, it would be great for a potential chameleon Miraculous, so it seems it won't be ever created for canon. So bad, I think it's one of the coolest animal, so a Miraculous based on it would be awesome. It could one from an African Miracle Box which should appear, since they are planning making an African special. The suit is good and all, but I still feel disappointed that it's not the superpower of a chameleon Miraculous. :(
Tumblr media
Why is Nino acting over the top out of nowhere? I like film noir atmosphere, fedoras and especially jazz music full of saxophones (my favourite music genre and instrument), but it looks totally ridiculous when he's like that. I thought it's Marinette's speciality, and he beat her in that category. I'm not trying to say it's a a bad thing, it just feels weird seeing Nino like that. And since I love jazz, I would like to listen to that film noir-esque music more once I got 5.1 audio, since it was hardly heard in the episode. It didn't sound much interesting, but it's too early to judge it seriously.
Too bad they had written the main conflict in the episode using one of the biggest romantic cliche - misunderstanding in which one character see and\or hear something, but not the whole thing, so said character interprets it wrong. Motifs like that are rather annoying, so it's good something similar haven't happened in the Love Square's arc (yet at least). Though I have a big issue with how they write it this season and I'm going to make a post about it (is anyone interested?).
Tumblr media
The akuma is one the ugliest and has one of the most laziest power ever. Really? He shoots using tear bullets and does nothing more? I know many people hate Bubbler's design, but no matter how silly it looks, it was much more creative than this.
And of course the whole thing with Alya remembering the whole conversation with Chat Noir was extremely far-fetched. The could think about something more believable, but I'm not surprised it happened, since I think this season is generally more lazy written than previous ones.
Tumblr media
On the other hand, I'm surprised that Marinette is actually aware that Shadow Moth should not know that Alya is still Rena Rouge. It seems that the whole episode 15 (or 16) is about they trying to figure out what to do with that problem.  I won't be surprised if Alya would do it all by herself like it happened with protecting charms in Mr Pigeon 72, because it's completely normal that a random person who has never met Fu is better at decrypting the grimoire than someone who has been trained to be a guardian to some extend :/ Still I think they should not be sure that camouflage mode would solve the problem completely. From what I understand the new suit doesn’t make her completely invisible to others. Rena could be seen by anyone who takes a photo of her and then post in on the internet (it won't be believable that she's the only one crazy about superheroes in Paris). But at least they tried to do something and Marinette sees the danger to some extend. It’s something new.
It's not like Alya is careful, she's completely reckless (and they think she's a good reporter material? Don't make me laugh) and she still thinks more about her own fun in being the superheroine than safety of herself or the world. But of course, it's not gonna happen, because plot armor is very strong in this show. I really had a feeling that she acted like a little child in the first minutes of the episode. She's unable to see that her situation is not a joke. She should be all happy that Marinette still lets her to keep the fox Miraculous. She really lacks humility and I see it clearly since Optigami at least. Besides, Marinette ignores another red flags, that Alya is taking pictures of herself in the new suit no one is supposed to see and thinking about posting them on Ladyblog (was Bunnix right that Alya is able to reveal Miraculous secrets on her blog because of her overenthusiasm and lack of ability of seeing consequences of her actions?).
By the way, now I think, if Alya can't keep in secret that she's still Rena Rouge from Nino (which happens because it's needed for the plot), so how could she be all fine with keeping in secret other facts like that Ladybug gave her the fox permanently and she knows her identity (which isn't happening because the plot doesn't require it)? She still has to lie on Nino because of these secrets.
Tumblr media
They are making Marinette a big hypocrite this season. Since she revealed herself to Alya, it's been shown that secret identities rule was bullshit from the start, but Marinette is still saying that heroes can't reveal their identities to anyone. What? What has she done before like not revealing herself to someone, so how she dares keep saying about how crucial is keeping secrets from everyone? Sorry writers, I can't take that rule seriously anymore since Alya knows and no one should. Because Marinette told Alya, she could tell it to other persons she trust as well. What's the difference between her best friend and the rest of the people in the world? Is Alya the only person she trusts? In fact, revealing herself to Sabine, for example, would be much better choice. She's actually wise and mature unlike Alya and her secrets would be much more safe with her mother.
I've seen Chat Blanc again on TV recently and I remembered one thing Ladybug told to Bunnix there: "The best-kept secrets are the ones you never share." (Google Translate says that the line is exactly the same in the French original). Some episodes later, she isn't thinking twice if she should tell all the guardian secrets to Alya. Okay, she revealed her identity because of being too emotional in that exact moment, but then when she calmed down, she should be able to think if telling all the Miraculous secrets is a good idea. The other hypocritical thing is telling Chloé "you can't be Queen Bee anymore, because Hawk Moth knows your identity" but still calling the other heroes whose identities have been exposed.
So I can't even blame Alya for telling Nino the truth if the guardian herself is not following her own rules. Not to mention, Marinette doesn't address wrong things Alya is doing at all, so no wonder she feels she could do anything, she won't get punished, no matter what. After all, it's not the first moment in which she does something her best friend forbid her.
And we can say the show has been confirmed that Nino is even worse at keeping secrets, especially in crisis situations, so why people wanted to see Adrien revealing himself to Nino? It's obvious that he would tell Adrien's secret to Alya and maybe some other people as well.
Tumblr media
I thought that since S3 finale Adrien is supposed to know identities of every backup hero from seasons 2 and 3 and I was ready to be salty about that as well. But yes, actually after purification of Miracle Queen's akuma, brainwashed heroes didn't detransform. They were forgotten completely and we don't even know what happened with them exactly. I suppose Ladybug took their Miraculous when Chat Noir wasn't there anymore.
Adrien has every right to be angry at Ladybug, she treats him so badly, since Alya knows her own secrets and she doesn't even have the guts to admit that. But I'm going to say about my the biggest issue in the Chat Noir and Ladybug's situation in another post, I hope I would write before the next episode airs.

Season 4, Episode 15 - Glaciator 2
Tumblr media
To begin with, I'm so glad we finally got another episode premiered in French. When preparing to write this post, I've seen that the next ones: Ephemeral and Gabriel Agreste will also premiere on the French TFOU most probably, which is even better as they will rather more important episodes I'm interested in.
Before they announced its title, I was sure it's going to be episode in which we will see Marinette and Alya debating what's to do with the fact that Rena Rouge can't be in seen in public anymore. I also thought it would be an episode with female scientist akumatised. We've seen her in two later episodes, so there's no other option than her getting an episode about herself, especially that she has more detailed model than typical background characters. So now I think episode 5 will be with her akumatised form. Despite how much I hate that Alya gets that much screentime and favouritism, showing how Rena Furtive was "born" is important. It would be more relevant than this episode. So even after learning its title, I still thought we will see one or two scenes about it, just Alya role in the entire episode would be smaller than I initially thought. Maybe I should not have been surprised that Rena Furtive appeared out of nowhere, that's not something completely unusual for this show, just like Marinette started to tell everything about Miraculous lore to Alya without show explaining anything.
One thing about this episode is sure to me: the creators don't know what is good timing. It's the worst time for the most Love Square centric episode this season (as I suppose): in the middle of saga in which Marinette shows how much she doesn't care about Chat and in which she always favours Alya over him. Between episodes in which Marinette only worries if Chat would destroy her and Alya's plan and in which she doesn't give a shit about him when decides to give her precious Miraculous to her best friend. It would feel much better if it was placed pre-Optigami.
Of course to me now every romantic Love Square scene feels so wrong, as I said before, the ship stopped making sense to me, I can't believe Marinette really likes Chat even as a friend anymore, but I'm trying to see this episode forgetting that this season killed the Love Square to me.
I don't get why Paris made a big deal about Ladynoir being official just in this exact moment, it was completely random. If it's a big thing for Parisians, it should have happened just after posting Oblivio photo by Alya, or something, then it would make more sense.
Tumblr media
This is a filler episode: theoretically Marinette and Adrien have learnt a lesson that they should to be more themselves around their crushes, but thanks to random release order we know that in reality they didn't. At least Marinette, there was nothing that would show that she's changing her attitude towards Adrien, despite there's an episode in which she tried to get close to him. While he, instead of trying to woo Ladybug in any way, is rather starting to realize that he isn't as important person to her even as a friend or a partner as he thought. He would stop thinking about any romance with her anyway, when their whole partnership is in a big crisis.
And the current status shows even more how much pointless the rival ships were. It doesn't seem the characters have learnt anything thanks to them as well. We were promised that this season Marinette and Adrien will more focus on themselves, and while it's true that there's less romance generally, I don't see that "focusing on themselves" part really happening. Minus Psychomedian, Gabriel Agreste and Qilin, there are only 5 episodes left, so I don't think there's room to show how the characters are developing as human beings, something what season 3 finale was supposed to foreshadow (like Astruc said).
Tumblr media
I have a feeling they made this episode mostly for the Marichat stans fanservice purpose. I don't mean it's a bad thing, it's good for them, but as I said before, it really changes nothing in the characters, unlike the original Glaciator in which Marinette had discovered that Chat's feeling are not a joke. Maybe the creators think that seeing the popularity of Marichat, every season needs one episode about that side of the Love Square. Season 3 had Weredad that was also a filler, but I think the fandom likes Glaciator 2 much more (I haven't seen any opinions myself), as it's less cringy, but it's still (at least the love poem scene was embarrassing). So now I expect a filler Marichat episode in season 5 as well, but it would be probably the last one , since not later than in the end of it, the reveal will happen, so then all the four ships will become one.
Tumblr media
Accidentaly I've seen someone theorising that Adrien should discover Marinette's crush on him in this episode (before its release, so I assume there were big spoilers) and I see where'd that come from. Though I haven't believed that will happen myself, as there was nothing in Wishmaker or Simpleman that suggests he knows. That would be totally out of character to Adrien to completely ignore it when he is interacting with her. Adrien discovering that Marinette loves him should be a big thing that would make a huge impact on him and would happen in a crucial episode. This one was so random, it was not supposed to change the status quo in which Adrien is unaware about her feelings and Ladybug rejects Chat Noir all the time even a little.
But it's the first time I think he really should have made the connection (minus Troublemaker and Pupetteer 2, I think he made it in both, but Marinette denied she has any feelings to him), as the things Marinette told perfectly describing her attitude towards him. So it's continuation of the trend of making characters not realising\doing things they should if it's not needed in the plot, or they being oblivious is needed for the plot. Though this situation makes at least some sense, as Adrien has very low self-esteem, especially when it comes to romance (which is also very highly portrayed in this episode), so thinking than someone as amazing as Marinette (it's been shown in several situation how highly he thinks of her) is in love with him would be too good to even start considering it. More, knowing his current mental health, anyone being in love with him could be seen as too good to be true.
Tumblr media
Ladybug kicking the trash bin with Chat Noir was the most accurate thing that happened in this episode, though most probably unintentional. It's so pointedly symbolising that the current guardian treats her "partner" like a trash when the only person in the world she really trusts is there. But of course they both were equally awful in that moment. Chat was way too pushy and annoying.
I have no intention to talk anything about the akuma. The battles against him were so short and unimportant. Despite the title, André was only a plot device, he as a human being wasn't important in the episode at all.
Tumblr media
It's great to see Kagami again, but it's not my favourite moment of her. I definitely liked her much more in Lie(s) and Mr. Pigeon 72. I've noticed a bit worrying thing, she started using too many metaphors similar to Luka out of nowhere. Though his are smooth and pseudo-poetical, hers are more harsh and military-like. She has done some fencing metaphors before, but not as many in one episode. I don't want my third favourite character becoming another one who's often making annoying and cringy lines. But maybe it shows that Lukagami still has chance to happen, definitely it's not going to start this season. Luka is still obsessed with Marinette.
Also Kagami's advice was awful and stupid at the same time. Trying to train your "seduction technique" on someone without telling them what's the purpose of it, would be playing on the person's feelings. But when you will tell it, then it has no chance to work properly, that person's reaction wont be natural. At least it was nice to see that even "cold" Kagami likes to read shoujo mangas. And Marinette has no rights to criticise that she's looking for romance advices in fictional stories, she is the one who's fantasying about idealized romantic scenarios all the time.
Besides I would prefer to see her interacting with Marinette for other reason than Adrien again. It should not be the only their common topic. I hope the next time when Kagami will appear (not only to be a superhero), it wont be about romance at all.
Tumblr media
Father-son scene was definitely my favourite one. It's even one of the most interesting moments in entire season to me. I'm not surprised that Gabriel didn't want to akumatise Adrien. Unlike in Chat Blanc, it was a "normal" situation, Gabriel wasn't aware how potential strong akuma his son could be and he wasn't as close to his goal as he was in that episode.
I loved that in the moment in which Gabriel tried to be a decent father for once, Adrien completely rejected any help from his father. If that happened in previous season, he should be rather happy seeing his dad expressing any concern for his feelings. Now he was cold. More, he said he doesn't want living in the past like him. If I didn't forget about something, it's the first time Adrien isn't defending Gabriel and he sees something wrong in him. Is it because of the events of Gabriel Agreste episode? Now I want to see it even more, I think it has the highest chances to be my favourite one this season.
That's probably the first time I've seen any actual character development this season. It's really like Adrien is starting distance himself from his father, so amongst everything what's happening in his life, there's something positive. It's hard and it hurts, but that's crucial to him to go through that process. The sooner Adrien will realise Gabriel is an abusive father, the better he will deal with the fact he is the one who is terrorising Paris. So now I'm waiting for the moment in which he's starting distance himself from Ladybug, idolising her and relying his self-esteem on her are strongly unhealthy to him as well.

Season 4, Episode 22 - Éphémère (Ephemeral)
Tumblr media
So Ephemeral is season 4 Chat Blanc, with much worse plot, but better animation (not the best level as for this show, but definitely better). This episode has some good moments, but it generally made me annoyed, especially because of its ending, as it seems to confirming my the biggest concern about this season. I don't even know where to start, I have too many chaotic thoughts in my head. So I'm so sorry in advance, as I know this post is not going to be well structured.
Tumblr media
The episode itself is chaotic in the second half of it and the reason why the major events ever happened makes no sense. I can't take the entire episode really seriously when the most logical solution to the problem is much simpler.
Why Ladybug just could not arrange a meeting between Su-Han and Chat Noir, then leave them alone and let the cat Miraculous wielder to tell his identity to the Celestial Guardian? Why the creators treat audience of their own show like idiots? That's obvious solution of the problem "how to tell Su-Han identity of Chat Noir" without anyone else needing to know it in the process, I was just thinking about immediately after the Celestial Guardian agreed it will be enough to him. I'm sure kids would also see that. If I will ever watch this episode with my niece, I would stop it in that moment and I will ask what she thinks Ladybug should do now.
By the way, I've seen this in two parts, I started it on the 11th (it was Independence Day of Poland, so a day off work and school in my country), while watching I've got an offer to visit my brother and his family, which hasn't been planned before, and I came home late in the evening. I would have time to watch the whole episode, but not to write a post. Writing in English always takes me much more time than in my native language, especially since I knew that post about Ephemeral is going to be a very long one and I will also need some time to think about. I prefer to do that just after seeing the episode when it's still "fresh" in my head. This is mostly why I watch new episodes on the weekends usually. I mention that, because I've got interrupted in the moment in which Ladybug tells Luka she needs him for her plan. So I was thinking what the hell is going on, why she makes another complicated plan when arranging a meeting between Su-Han and Chat Noir is the most logical thing to do. There was also one more thing that has been bothering me that whole time, but it's for another paragraph.
Okay, then today I got the answer: Ladybug thinks he would not tell anyone except her. What? Is it supposed to be a believable explanation? Chat does whatever she tells him, if she explained him that someone needs to know his identity, he would understand. It's not that his dreamed scenario has a chance to happen, there's already someone who knows Ladybug's identity and he is aware of it, he would not be the first one anyway, so why he could have problem that she isn't the first person who learns his? I can see Adrien having some doubts to tell his identity to Luka or another "normal" person, but not Su-Han. He is the original guardian of the Mother Box after all! He has met him before, he knows he is the Celestial Guardian who already knows Ladybug identity, he could trust him. Not mention that Plagg could convince him that he isn't an impostor or something, just like Tikki and the other Kwamis did.
But the whole "arranging a meeting between them" wasn't an option taken into consideration by anyone, not even Luka, despite that was what Ladybug has done in Furious Fu. They made an effort to portray Luka as a smart guy who figured out all by himself why Ladybug and Chat Noir can't know identities of each other, but he also could not see that the cat wielder could just tell his identity to Su-Han directly? That's that much simple and there's really not need for a complicated and risky plan? This is another example of dumbing down the characters for the plot reasons.
Also letting Luka to know Chat's identity without even considering telling it to the cat wielder was an awful move towards him. Good it was undone, because Adrien definitely should be aware that Luka knows.
Tumblr media
Another thing which bothers me is that Marinette just decided to trust Luka to know identity of Chat Noir of all sudden like it wasn't as much big deal as it was. Sorry, writers, I know you think you have convinced all us that they are very close to each other and she trusts him completely, but that's total bullshit. It's been portrayed like she is much closer to all girls from her class (minus Chloé and Lila of course) than she was ever to him. It's more like Marinette has never been treating her relationship with Luka really seriously, even when they were dating (forgetting their dates and what they are supposed to do etc.). And after their breaking up what she has been doing? She has been avoiding him until Crocoduel. If she really cared about their relationship (romantic or platonic, it doesn't matter), she would not want to avoid him in the first place. So how we are supposed to believe that he has no problem with him knowing identity of a superhero in possession of one of the ying-yang Miraculous?
So, if we're talking about Luka, at first I thought that this episode seems to confirm one of my biggest fears that Luka has learnt identities of both heroes mostly to make him look even better, even more "perfect" than ever before. And though I would not be surprised if it was really the reason, since I didn't think it's possible, but after watching this and few previous episodes, I have even more doubts if the writers really know what they are doing (I'm going to explain it in other paragraph I have roughly planned). There's still hinted that there are going to be bad consequences that Luka doesn't want to tell Ladybug he knows identities of her and Chat. I don't even mean that the repercussion of this episode could be easily avoided if he did. Ladybug told him that she doesn't want any superhero to know identities of both her and Chat at once because if they got akumatised, captured, or whatever, they both could get exposed. I can understand her logic (though I still have one big issue with it I'm going to mention later) and now when Luka is aware of it, he is that superhero who knows both identities, there's still no single thoughts in his head, that he should tell it to her. Luka fans can't justify his decision anymore. He knows identities of both and that's even more dangerous, since any of the guardians aren't aware of it.
Luka fans could raving about him being so ideal and selfless, helping Marinette with her "Adrien is Chat Noir" problem, and my first impression seeing the scene was: "Yeah, they definitely let Luka discover both identities to make him look even better, he deserves it, because he's most perfect guy in the world >____>". But then I realized that he still doesn't give up on Marinette, he only thinks he loves her even more knowing she's Ladybug. So I can't be sure he is really a genuine Adrienette shipper. He still has crush on her, but he isn't even a little jealous she's closer to be in a relationship with Adrien than ever before and he even helps them? Something is suspicious to me. As I said in one of my previous posts, no one could be as much selfless in a such situation without being negative affected by it, unrequited love always hurts. So either they are only trying to make an impression that Luka's completely fine with it, but in reality he's hoping that they will break up sooner or later due to their hero work or something, or he's just totally poorly written.
Tumblr media
I don't believe that they made an original akuma design just for the episode in which he isn't the main enemy. I've been searching in the list of S4 episodes, there's no one titled Moolak, not in both English and French. He still could be reakumatised in season 5 because of those stupid mega akumas, but that's still weird.
Also Ladybug called all the heroes (minus Rena for obvious reasons), though not everyone was needed but whatever, just to beat him and there are no thoughts that she should appreciate him Chat Noir and trust him more.
Tumblr media
My another big issue with this episode is that the creators try to pretend like the whole big Ladynoir conflict is not happening, we're not in the middle of it, Adrien isn't starting having doubts about their partnership. In the whole episode there is no sign of it, maybe outside of that little moment in which Chat seems to be somewhat upset that Ladybug doesn't want to tell him why she wanted to meet with him on the Eiffel Tower before. This episode made me realize even stronger that the writing team has a tendency to ignore consequences of the events or characters' actions from the previous episodes when they are not a theme of an episode they are writing. Sorry, but they can't write a good and believable story doing that as often as they do it, especially in crucial moments. It only makes me even more convinced that season 4 is the most inconsistently and illogical written in the history of this show.
In episode 16, Ladybug had betrayed his trust in her that badly for the first time not telling him that she is going to have a replacement, in the 17th one, he is angry discovering that she lets Alya and Nino to know their identities (so not everyone needs to keep her own rules, she has double standards), but after that everything is like nothing happened. In all the next episodes their partnership seems to be as good as before Alya saga, as she's not there, so "Ladybug ignoring Chat when Rena is around" is not happening.
Adrien magically forgot that he has seen strong evidences that Ladybug is not trusting him in reality, she's not treating him as her real partner anymore, there's a person she trusts way much more than him, to the point she told her her identity and entrust with the ladybug Miraculous? He isn't wondering what the hell is going on and he is still raving that she's the most outstanding person in the whole world (by the way, his declaration after telling and showing her who he is, was way too long and pseudo-poetic, I liked his confession in Chat Blanc way more, it was more simple but because of that more natural)? THIS. MAKES. NO. FUCKING. SENSE. I completely don't buy it, sorry.
Something similar happened with "I can't have a boyfriend as long as I'm Ladybug". It mattered only in two episodes, like the whole drama happened only to make Marinette telling her identity to Alya in one of the most weak moment of her. But after that, it's like her fear has magically gone, she's continuing making googly eyes at Adrien and planning to get a date with him.
Tumblr media
I have an impression this episode exists mostly because they thought: "Hey, there's going to be the 100th episode in season 4, so we need to make it special, but that's not finale, so it can't be a resolution of the main conflict in the season, so why we don't do another Chat Blanc-like episode, but this time with Marinette learning the identity of Chat first" and that's completely not a bad thing in my opinion. Most of the fandom seem to hate undone identity reveals, they just want to see the real one now, not the fake ones, but personally I love them. I loved Oblivio and Chat Blanc, I love seeing different scenarios of "how the Identity Reveal™ could happen" and I would not mind more episodes like that. Or rather I was not mind that prior release of eps 13-17 (minus 15), now I can't just enjoy interesting Love Square content like before anymore for reasons mentioned in many of my previous posts. Good they didn't kiss, only hugged in this episode.
But okay, I'm going to try to be like a Miraculous creator for a moment, ignoring that Ladynoir drama exists, that there are episodes in which Marinette treats Chat Noir like a shit, while Adrien is starting losing his absolute trust in her. And forget that I really dislike season 4 Marinette.
The episode shows big(gest) difference between them: Marinette sees Adrien and Chat Noir as two completely different persons, while for Adrien she and Ladybug are very similar to each other. But I can't blame her for that: he isn't completely himself publicly, no matter which self he is in a moment, minus when he is alone or with Plagg, Kagami and maybe Nino as well. But definitely not when he's in public or with Marinette\Ladybug. His Adrien self and Chat self are two extremes: the first is too reserved, the second too crazy. The "real" him is a mix between these two extremes, not only Adrien-self or Chat Noir-self. Marinette had no possibility to see that, since she's still too afraid of being close to him, so he could not to show her his more Chat-y side. While Adrien had chances to see Marinette acting like Ladybug (and rarely Ladybug behaving like Marinette, see the Origins and the clumsy Bug moment). No wonder that's much easier to see resemblances between them two to him and not only easily accepting but also being happy discovering his classmate and Ladybug are the same person. Adrien just started acts like Chat extreme out of nowhere in public after telling Ladybug his identity, which wasn't a wise thing to do, as it could make him too obvious.
It's not showed completely clear, but it mostly seems that this time Adrien and Marinette were dating completely in a secret, maybe even Alya and Nino were not aware of it. I've seen many people claiming that everything would be fine in Chat Blanc, if they had kept their relationship in a secret. Éphémère shows it's not that simple, as long as Shadow/Hawk Moth is not beaten, it can't happen. That's far-fetched that Gabriel just decided to visit his son out of nowhere in a moment when Adrien has a phone call with his secret girlfriend, but I can ignore it, as it's not that much a big deal. That's another moment in which the creators are trying to tell us: don't expect the real reveal much before the final battle against the villain which will most probably happen at the end of season 5.
Tumblr media
Many people thinks that Chat Blanc should be two-parter, but I have never agreed with it. Personally I would not add more than 5-10 minutes to it, and in my opinion "wanting more" is a lot better for that episode than "getting too much". If it was two-parter, the story would be too padded out, the whole thing would not be as much atmospheric. I also don't think Ephemeral has material for two episodes, but have more issues with its pacing, there are too many things happening chaotically in the second half. It's harder to keep track of the events than in Chat Blanc.
I always wanted to see Adrien being akumatised, more than return of Chat Blanc, so I'm very disappointed that he wasn't there for so long, there wasn't even a real battle between Ephemeral and Ladybug. Chat Blanc was much cooler, creepy and interesting. Ephemeral wasn't doing anything other than blindly following orders of his father. He even hasn't been trying to fight with akumatisation as long as Chat Blanc. That felt so anticlimactic in comparison. Not mention that the design was so dull.
But I think that the cat suit of Gabriel is... interesting. I don't know how to describe my feelings about it exactly, he looks so weird but in good sense, disturbing, creepy. It seems like it was supposed to be a fusion between the cat, butterfly and peacock Miraculous, but it resembles only cat, still I can deal with it, as long as he looks as cool.
I know I can't take timeline of this show too seriously, as it's very inconsequent from the start, but Gabriel told it's been 100 weeks since disappearance of Emilie Agreste. A year has 52 weeks and one day (or two in it's a leap year), which means that's also been almost two years since Marinette and Adrien got their Miraculous. So maybe we could expect their 15th birthdays in season 5. I want to see a proper birthday party for Adrien. If only I will still watch the show. ;)
Tumblr media
If something as much chaotic happens when Sass is using his power on his own, I can't imagine what could when Fluff is doing the same. Her power is more powerful, so the time should go wild even more. I loved seeing ladybug Miraculous wielder from the past, now we need to get a cat one as well.
Tumblr media
I'm so pleasantly surprised that we got a chance to see full transformation sequences of the space power ups. There are so short, but very nice and they look so different. Definitely it was one of the coolest moments of the entire episode to me. If I would ever want to draw Cosmobug and Astrochat again, I have finally some good material to make reference screenshots.
Tumblr media
At the end, I write about my the biggest issue with the whole thing. It's like this episode is confirming my the biggest fear: that they are trying to convince as that Marinette is an amazing guardian, that's Su-Han who is in wrong here, she has done absolutely nothing wrong as a guardian. That's bullshit, Marinette is a poorly guardian, who has done too many reckless things and the only reason why Shadow Moth hasn't won yet is an extremely strong plot armor, dumbing down Gabriel every time when Marinette does something awfully stupid.
I really have no idea what's going on with Su-Han, is that the first time when he shows up since Furious Fu episode, or he was supposed to appears more times? It's been hinted that he had problems with Marinette guarding more times. I understand his fear of Chat Noir using his power for wrong reasons, he definitely knows about evil cat wielders. But that's so annoying seeing him showing up just because Chat Noir hasn't appeared in the battle for the first time since he's supposed to observe the new guardian, but he hasn't done that even once when Marinette let Alya to do whatever she wants. Chat Noir is not a issue, the fox wielder is, or rather how much Marinette is dealing recklessly with her. She has no control over what's Alya is doing with her power. She lets her to take a Miraculous without asking permission, she gives her a Miraculous permanently despite her identity has been exposed etc. I have written my issues with it so many times in other posts.
I'm still hoping that Su-Han really doesn't know what's Marinette is doing with Alya, he doesn't know that the fox is absent in the Miracle Box. If there are not going to be repercussion of that whole mess, I'm not sure if I will continue watching this show after season 4. There are only four episodes left that take place after Ephemeral, two "normal" and the finale. There's not much time to try to fix it, to shows that Marinette's blind trusts in Alya is not a wise thing, that she needs to know who is the guardian in their relationship. Alya has no rights to do anything Miraculous related without letting Marinette know about her plans first, she is not allowed to do anything without the guardian permission!!!
Besides, that makes Marinette so short-minded, because she doesn't see that Alya's situation is way more serious. Alya knows much more than just Ladybug's identity. Marinette treats her like a co-guardian. her best friend has access to all the information from the spellbook that the guardian has, as well as to the Miracle Box. If she got akumatised, she could reveal everything she knows to Shadow Moth (Marinette most probably is not aware that he also has an access to some of the decrypted informations made by Fu) and bring him the Miracle Box, or tell him where he could find it.
Do you see why I have hardly any faith in the writers that things like Ladynoir drama are going anywhere? Maybe we will see resolution of the Ladynoir conflict in the finale, but the issues with Alya needs to be addressed before season 4 ends as well. And the problem with Luka knowing what he is not supposed to.
I don't get why at the end of the episode Su-Han didn't learn Chat identity. From the start I think he definitely should, since he is also the guardian. I'm against "normal" people knowing identities of the ying-yang heroes (at this point of the story), but Su-Han should want to know who Chat Noir is, no matter he trusts him and/or Ladybug or not. I really don't like how they are writing him. He has much potential that is getting wasted. I'm asking, why isn't he training Marinette to be a proper guardian? That's another thing that makes me angry.
This is why if I only could write stories decently, I would made my own version of season 4 in which Alya and Luka don't discover the ying-yang heroes identities, there's no stupid Ladynoir drama, but Su-Han becomes a real mentor for Marinette after their initial problems, Chat Noir supports Ladybug emotionally, since she tells him some things about being a guardian and Miraculous lore those are safe to say without risking revealing her identity, and Marinette and Adrien really develops their friendship. No romance for some time, only building of their friendship and partnership simultaneously in both of their lives. Is there anyone who likes my rough concept of alternative version of season 4?
----
In conclusion, I would enjoy Ephemeral much more if the reason why Marinette decided that they should reveal their identities would be written differently to actually makes any sense and if the episodes 13, 14, 16 and 17 didn't happen. It still would be worse than Chat Blanc, but it would feel much better.

Season 4, Episode 25 - Risque (La Dernière Attaque de Papillombre - Partie 1) \ Risk (Shadow Moth's Final Attack - Part 1)
Tumblr media
As I said before I do two separate posts about the finale episodes, because writing about them both at once would take too much time and the post would be too long (my posts are already too long, since I'm unable to express all my thoughts in short ones when I have much to say). So remember it's just the Risk episode "review" written before watching Strikes Back.
Tumblr media
It seems that everytime I watch season 4 of Miraculous and there's a scene in which Ladybug neglects Chat Noir, I can't stand it and I need to stop watching for a while to calm down. It's always frustrating to see Marinette lying to him casually when they talk about it. Chat Noir is definitely not her favourite, Rena Rouge/Furtive is. She is a total idiot if she is not able to see that she favouring her over every other hero, their "partnership" is over, that means nothing to her anymore, because she prefers Alya and her ego became extremely big since she's the guardian. And I can't stand Adrien not seeing that all these sweet words like "you're my favourite one, you're irreplaceable etc." are not true, her actions say something totally opposite. He had gotten more than enough evidences to see that. His blind love to Ladybug is very unhealthy to him, that's more and more frustrating that he is unable to realize it.
Also Rena is watching after other Miraculous holders, is that means she knows identity of all of them? If yes, no one can say that Marinette is not unfairly favouring her and not because she has no choice, it's just because Alya is her best friend who knows her identity. Rena Furtive existence is not essential, it's just friend favour.
Besides, kissing Chat after all of that what happened between them, even if just in a cheek, was just a dick move, because that she knows he is in love with her, she should not have given him a false hope that he is stil appreciated and wanted as much as before. S4 Marinette is terribly unlikable. I wrote all above that while taking a break from watching the episode and that's just the beginning. :/
Thankfully the rest of the episode is much better. Not only. It's better and more exciting than all of the previous episodes of S4, though still not perfect. And finally I didn't get the impression even for a while that I'm watching a very childish show for preschoolers what happend while seeing some previous episodes (like Psycomedian and even Qilin), but a cartoon targeted for older kids that can be enjoyed by adults as well. Sadly, I'm not able to enjoy everything fully for reasons I write about in later paragraphs.
Tumblr media
Gabriel seems to get more and more crazy, though I would only prefer he isn't looking that much like a "generic cartoon villain" with his evils laughs. It seems the fandom theory that using a Miraculous for evil reasons continuously is slowly affecting the user is true. Nathalie isn't affected mentally despite being affected physically, because she hadn't been using the peacock nearly as much as Gabriel is using the butterfly. Maybe using two at once makes the negative effect even stronger and/or faster? Who knows.
No, Gabriel, Ladybug has done some mistakes this season, just the writers make you too stupid to see them and make use of them successfully for the plot armor reasons. Poor villains, they can't be too clever, because protagonists always needs to win. Or have better writers who are able to write plot and characters that way to make villain really clever, but also let protagonists to win.
Tumblr media
Despite Gabriel didn't seem to think rational at that moment, he was able to create one of the most dangerous akumas ever, because no one see he is active and affects people's minds. Akumas and/or their actions are usually so flashy, so there's always someone who can easily recognise there's one quickly, but that's not the case this time. The power of Risk is more subtle, though not as much subtle to not starting some strange things happening after a while. However, Ladybug and Chat Noir are too much focused on their own problems to see that. Normal people could not realize, but the heroes should have. Definitely one of the best akumas ever created.
By the way, am I the only one who thinks that the boy is looking a lot like Nino? And his akumatised self is looking like Carapace? The first time I've seen the akuma was after downloading Strike Back episode - in the thumbnail of the video in Windows, and my first thought was "Oh, is it baby Carapace or what?"
So Gabriel decided about the travel, because he plans something big. He also wants to take a risk, not only force Ladybug to do something risky (that's ridiculous to me, because Marinette is taking so much risk with Alya this season and this idiot hadn't noticed), but alone, without help of his assistant. It was just a excuse to take Adrien and Nathalie outside of Paris, to make them safe. Is he also afraid of Lila messing up and this is why he sends her to the trip as well? He plans something big to the point that takes into account that he could get killed/arrested/disappeared/something else if he won't get successful. Putting Emilie's ring on Nathalie's finger was a big thing to him. Are the writers trying to foreshadow that Gabenath is going to become canon? I have no idea what to think about that.
Tumblr media
Finally, finally Lila is in action! I can't forgive that she had been ignored the whole season until the end of it, but I'm happy seeing she is doing something. Also finally we've seen how Lila and Adrien's interactions are looking like after the events of Ladybug episode. Just in time. :/ He pretends he doesn't mind her for others, but without trying to be nice to her. Good. And thankfully, Lila and Chloé are really collaborate against Marinette. It's good to see that it's going somewhere, unlike some other things that appeared to be important.
Tumblr media
Thanks to Risk we have confirmation that Adrien indeed hates modelling, yes? Personally I thought all this time that it's not an ideal activity for him, but he tolerates it.
In this episode we got the first one really essential Adrienette scene that maybe could help at developing their relationship. I say "maybe", because knowing this season, we can never be sure if something what happened is indeed important or is to going to be forgotten later. S4 shows even more than before that the writers have problem with the plot continuity. Normally, I would have been be super happy with all Adrienette scenes, since it really looked like a huge step in their relationship. Marinette is the first person whom he told what he really thinks about people's expectations towards him, even if it was because of the akuma, that happened and it would not be forgotten after Ladybug cure, right? It would have been perfect to me if it was season 2 or 3 episode, but season 4 destroyed the relationship between them in their masked selves. It went way too far to the point I can't enjoy Adrienette scenes like before. They are the same people after all, it's still Marinette treating Adrien like she doesn't care about him much. It doesn't matter that she isn't aware that he is Chat, I can't believe she loves Adrien anymore. Adrien claims he is in love with Ladybug only, but he isn't treating Marinette any worse than her, he appreciates them both equally, he thinks as much high about them both.
Tumblr media
Are Nino and Adrien really that close to each other? He is amongs those who don't see real Adrien's feelings. Hasn't he seen this sad boy on TV? But even if not, he should have realized that something is wrong with his friend, that he isn't really happy. Kagami and even Félix of all people see that! Oh, Kagami, I know why I love her. At this moment I even wanted her to know he is Chat Noir and know everything about the heroes relationship to make him realize that his love to Ladybug is not good to him, that she isn't worth him. Though I'm against other people knowing identities of the main superheroes. Now, at least.
I'm not surprised that all the classmates think that Marinette wants to stop Adrien from leaving Paris only for her selfish reasons. I can see Alya salters being so salty that she still believes that Lila is an innocent angel. ;) I became an Alya salter this season too, but for completely different reasons. I'm not going to blame her for this, from her point of view, it makes sense that Marinette is just jealous of Lila to the point she is ready to destroy his trip. It's not like she hasn't done something similar before (see Backwarder).
Tumblr media
Félix, I love this guy more and more with his every appearance. He shows again that he's more clever than Gabriel. This is why he can not be everyday villain, then the main characters would have too much trouble and they would need even harder plot armor. ;) Though it seems, it might change in season 5.
I wonder what type of technology Félix was using, because there should be a reason why Adrien found it. At first I thought it's recording things what Félix is seeing while wearing it, but that's probably too early for Adrien to discover that Gabriel is Shadow Moth and he's hiding his mother in the basement. Or maybe he is going discover it much later, at the end of season 5. I assume that butterfly and peacock Miraculous Félix found are fake ones (but why would Gabriel have placed them there?), but he is going to make use of knowledge in stolen tablet for sure. Or maybe they weren't fake? I just recently rewatched a scene in which Félix is trying to say he doesn't want to go and I realized that Gabriel probably noticed that it's not Adrien, it's Félix, because he doesn't have the ring which his son is wearing all the time. At least that's how I interpret this. So then Gabriel could have find occasion to take Miraculous (and the tablet?) back. I'm not sure now, so I will see in the next episode.
-----------
Since I have seen something which is most probably a big spoiler from Strike Back, I have some assumptions what could happen in the second part of the S4 finale and I write it here, so you and I can see if I'm right or not (but please, don't tell me!!!). Beware of the spoilers if you haven't seen the next episode yet.
It was a video of Olchuś (the best known Polish Miraculous influencer, who is known outside of my country as well), I have blocked his channel on YouTube, because titles and thumbnails of his videos are full of spoilers and cheap clickbaits (and I don't like watching them anyway), but that hasn't stopped Google from showing it to me, just not in my YouTube recommendation, but in feed on my smartphone. :/ Of course I hadn't clicked on the video, but its thumbnail features Félix transformed into the fox Miraculous self and its title says something like "Marinette was betrayed" (I don't remember exactly). From what I remember it was before Strike Back aired, so it's probably spoiler for it, not season 5. Back then I assumed that Alya will be totally reckless like usual, so Félix will steal the Miraculous from her so easily. But now it looks like it will happen because of Risk. I was hopping to finally see Marinette and Alya suffering consequences of their careless actions. But no, it seems it's going to be portrayed like Alya has done nothing wrong, she is just a victim of the akuma's power, so everything is okay. Alya is good, Marinette is good, no lessons for them. :( I would be happy to be wrong.

Season 4, Episode 9 - Gabriel Agreste
Tumblr media
It hasn't been planned at all, but today I had time to watch Gabriel Agreste and write a post (as it should not take nearly as much time as I needed to write that one about Ephemeral). This is absolutely a good episode, probably even the best in the whole season in my opinion (though that's really not a big accomplishment), but it won't make to my Top 10 favourites of the entire show. I would definitely enjoy it more if it was fully in a more serious tone, the silly parts are not not fitting much here in my opinion.
Besides, I expected that this episode will be at least a bit about the father-son relationship, we will see the reason why Adrien seems to start distance himself from his dad this season. I thought Gabriel would do something really terrible for him, even worse than usual, but not, it was just usual Gabriel towards his own son, who doesn't let him to have fun with his friends. So if Adrien is really distancing from his father (we can never be sure if things are really happening in this show or not, knowing how much inconsistent it is this season), it's maybe more because he is more and more sick of how much disrespectful his parent is.
Tumblr media
Geez, I really don't like classic Disney movies, the fandom made me sick of the trope "Adrien is a Disney princess" ages ago already. I think saying that he is like one of those passive princess from fairytales is an insult. That's why I highly disliked the whole scene about it.
Marinette started pursuing Adrien again even sooner than it seemed before. So we just got another evidence that the whole "I can't have a boyfriend as long I'm Ladybug" was really only a cheap for two episodes that ever existed just for one reason: to make her tell secret identity to Alya, that's not something which has ever been intended to have an actual impact on the protagonist. That's so annoying and sad that Marinette is not developing to be a better person, she is only getting worse this season: more reckless, less responsible etc. Also Alya hasn't learnt anything despite all those failures throughout the whole shows, that all complicated plans "how to make Adrienette happen" don't work and they will never work. She also completely forgotten the reason why her best friend has been as much weak when she told her she is Ladybug in the first place. So the thing that annoyed me in her the most in previous seasons (forcing Marinette to confess to Adrien or to be close to him when she's not ready) is still present.
That was the weakest disguise that Marinette has ever had. Even Marino from Part Crasher was much better, there she was wearing a full set of mustache with glasses and big nose, as well as a helmet. This is typical silly Miraculous disguise and I should not make a big deal from it, but they could have tried a bit more.
I can imagine that Chloé fans are upset that this episode made her an evil person. Personally I don't care much about her anymore (also thanks to her fans), but I also think it's too much. I didn't think that she is able to make something that would make Adrien's life completely miserable. She definitely has to be aware how much he wants to go to school.
Tumblr media
With all those guests wearing dark costumes, I had a feeling that Gabriel is holding a funeral banquet the whole time, only white masks and dances didn't fit to that. ;) By the way, I really liked the music during dances, it was like a spooky jazz, very cool!
I didn't expected to ever see Félix this season at all before getting a glimpse of him in the thumbnail of the video with this episode, because I felt it would be too nice to get him, knowing as much they ignoring the characters those are not needed (Lila!!!). I knew someone from the creators has confirmed that he will return, but I expected him no sooner than in season 5. I'm happy with this. I didn't know what to think about Félix exactly as a character seeing him just his debut episode. This one makes him definitely much more interesting, maybe even on a par with Lila. They both could make a good villain duo. Better not a romantic couple, just two persons who is working together only to get what they want.
At first I thought they made Félix too smart, as in this show it's very hard to discover identities of Miraculous users. He doesn't know Gabriel and Shadow Moth well enough to make a connection as easily as Alya did with Carapace. Since the actual reason why Alya knew it is that Nino acted exactly the same as a superhero, as he is in civilian life, and she spent enough time close to Carapace to notice it. But then I realized that firstly he probably wasn't sure. He was only theorizing that Gabriel could be a supervillain, seeing that he is hiding two brooches under a tie. That's definitely suspicious and he is aware how awful his uncle is, he is a believable candidate to be a bad guy. Also it seems he had to know the powers of the Miraculous very well. Félix had to know that Shadow Moth is able to create a sentimonster of his civilian self, otherwise he would not try to rip his pants. Also Gabriel made a big mistake, showing him he isn't hiding Miraculous under his tie. Now I can't wait to Félix appearing again and see the consequences of him knowing the villain identity. Most probably we will need to wait to the next season. I want him to be seen more than once per a season, and it could happen if he becomes a new villain who is using a Miraculous in season 6.
The scene in which Gabriel was threatening Félix was definitely my favourite in the whole episode. We rarely see this show in as much serious tone.
Tumblr media
It was nice to finally see a decent akuma battle. But the thing I liked about it the most was Kagami trying to battle Senticollector without being trapped immediately. Despite she is still angry at Adrien, she cares about his safety and she truly wants him to be just happy (as we've seen in Glaciator 2).
After Dearest Family we knew that Collector is going to reappear, since otherwise Gabriel would not have gotten his magical charm. But I was almost sure that real Gabriel would be akumatised, since I didn't think that charm which sentimonster got would work with a real person, as they should count as two separate beings. I still don't think it should really work, but that's not a big deal, so I can ignore it even if it's a plot hole. There're already too many much more significant issues with this show.
Tumblr media
After writing this post and reseeing few scenes of it, I feel more convinced that it's my favourite episode of all season 4. And I really doubt I will enjoy more any of the remaining six. It's one of very few episodes that I will really willing to see more times and I'm looking forward to watch it in Polish dubbing (though I still haven't seen anything from S4 in my native language yet). I remember seeing someone worrying that Gabriel Agreste is going to be a filler, thankfully it definitely wasn't.
If there are no that the most stupid Marinette's disguise and the whole "Make Adrienette happen" plot, I would rank it much higher. It somewhat killed the atmosphere of the episode, besides Marinette's presence in the Agreste mansion wasn't even needed for anything. I think they wanted her to be there only because she is the protagonist. Instead of that redundant things, more Adrien (there wasn't much of him), father-son relationship content and a proper Kagami-Adrien scene would fit much better.

Season 4, Episode 18 - Exauceur (Wishmaker)
Tumblr media
Despite I'm trying to avoid all the spoiler, I've seen literally every important things from this episode: Luka will be an important character, Alec will be akumatised (I've seen a screenshot of his akumatised self) and the most important, that Luka would discover Ladybug and Chat Noir's identities (through reading synopsis of two fics on AO3 - please, writers, warn about spoilers before you're start talking about them in your fanfics's descriptions!), so nothing was shocking to me. But despite it, there's so much to say about it, I have no idea where to start.
Still it was surprising to me that I quite liked the episode as the whole, there's nothing overly illogical or too childish as for this show's standards. And I loved the fact that we finally got a chance to take a break from Alya's arc, the first time since Optigami. And Rena didn't show at all, it was relieving. Although, I completely expected that also Wishmaker will be more or less about her before seeing the spoilers, as in the previous episode some things happened those should bring repercussions, Alya did something against Marinette's wishes again and, as I assume, Adrien starting losing his absolute faith in Ladybug.
He is showing no hard feelings towards Ladybug yet, unlike in season 2. It's like he's growing up (unlike Marinette, sadly, actually I think she's less responsible than in previous seasons), but I'm sure he's written like that mostly because they need to make her to be completely oblivious about his true feelings for too long, so that could bring a big drama (and most probably return of Chat Blanc). I noticed that Adrien is more apathetic about the whole situation than angry. That's worse than being mad. At least he still has Plagg who isn't even trying to hide that he wants to be with him together forever. Aww, I love their relationship. <3
By the way, Alya told that being full time superhero is her dreamed job, no one should be surprised about it. But I want to say something which is probably very unpopular opinion that I think that her overly enthusiasm is her the biggest problem now, the fact that someone like that knows everything about superhero things what the current Guardian of the Mother Box knows is a problem. The Miraculous secrets would be much more safe with someone who is more hardheaded like Alix.
Tumblr media
I would never expect that I could say that I prefer to see episodes with much Luka than Alya-centric ones, especially two in a row. Even if none of them made me like him even a bit more. But that's what happened, as season 4 is (generally) nothing like I imagined. It's full of surprises to me, although mostly of bad ones. After letting him to show some negative emotions in Truth, he is now continuing being a completely bland and way too perfect character who is making cringy lines. Sorry, interesting personality can't be replaced with more talents like violin playing or making him the first character who knows identities of both Ladybug and Chat Noir (other than pre-season 3 finale Master Fu, and the Kwamis). Do you want to make me impressed by Luka? Let him to do something really bad and selfish with his knowledge. Something that would destroy the image of a perfect boy. I have no idea what bad Luka could do with that and most probably the writers are not even interested at portraying him as someone more than that bland "perfect" human being. Showing some sourness because your mom doesn't let you know who your father is and your girlfriend keeps missing your dates or leaves you alone suddenly during them is not a flaw. It's a normal human emotion, you can't be blamed for that. I assume they did it to make Luka even more liked by the fandom. But it won't work with me if he is going to deal with that perfectly.
And I'm really, reaaaly not content with another identity reveal. I'm not a fan of an idea of revealing them to anyone other that Alix and some bad guys like Lila or Nathalie (but without her telling it to Gabriel) before Hawk (Shadow) Moth failure or close to it. I hate that more people know who Ladybug and Chat Noir are before they learn identities of each other. Especially that he's another character related more to Marinette. It would be more fair if it was a character related more to Adrien, though I have no idea who. Nino is terrible at keeping secrets and he's showed more as a Alya's boyfriend than Adrien's friend, Chloé is not worth it, Kagami is also a Marinette's friend now and I have a feeling that we will see the girls together more now than her with him. There's also Nathalie, but she is among the "bad" ones. But also I don't want Adrien to reveal himself to anyone now like Marinette did, I prefer him to stay being faithful to the rule.
But still I prefer that Luka knows it (especially that it's post-Lukanette and they won't be together anymore) than Alya. And there's one thing I liked: he didn't tell anyone he knows, so Marinette can't make him fully involved with Miraculous stuff like she did with Alya. If he has to know, better to have a good reason for it, not make it only for fanservice purpose for his stans. I have no hope that it would make him a better character, but we will see, maybe I would be surprised.
Tumblr media
Okay, I make an addition to Luka's section after writing it, as I noticed something while making screenshots for this post and I didn't want to delete what I've written before: Viperion is making a sad look when discovering who Chat Noir is. Before that I thought that he already fully accepted the fact that Marinette loves Adrien, not him, but in this short moment he looks like he's disappointed. Because if Ladybug is Marinette and Chat Noir is Adrien, that means they are in love with each other. So maybe he wasn't encouraging Marinette to confess to Adrien, because he wanted her to be with him. Maybe he was hoping that Adrien would reject her, so she would gave their relationship another chance. Well, there's maybe still a possibility that Luka would do something selfish with this knowledge. It's been shown before that he's ready to wait for her forever. So it's possible that he won't deal with breaking up as fine as Kagami who already got over it and she's even an Adrienette shipper since Mr. Pigeon 72.
Tumblr media
Finally I liked the theme of an episode. It's good to show children that they can try to be who they really want. And it's worth to think about it. Even if real life isn't that beautiful and most people won't be able to have a job they enjoy, they will work only or mostly to get money. But we should let kids be kids and dream, maybe some of them would make their dreams come true.
I loved that they showed what's Chloé's butler is doing when he's not at work. I like knowing something more about minor characters, I have always felt some sympathy towards him and it shows that even if you have "boring" job (but I don't think Jean isn't enjoying his job at all), you can still can do more, something for you. Your whole life doesn't need to be all about making money, you still can have a passion what will make your life more colorful.
Also Adrien's situation was great, she didn't discover what his dreamed job is, but that's not a problem. There's no pressure, he and kids who is watching the show still have time to choose their life road.
And of course André situation who quit a stressful job in corporation where he probably have been making more money to focus on something he loves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The episode is full of drawn illustrations and I loved them all. I very liked the artstyle of some of them, my favourites ones are probably those about André.
Tumblr media
But also these illustrating childhood dreams of the characters are so adorable.
Tumblr media
And why the artist swapped Emilie and Gabriel's eyes colors? Emilie has green eyes, while Gabriel's are blue. Is it intentional or just a mistake?
Tumblr media
I truly love the Exauceur's desing (I'm using the French name of the akuma now, because I think it looks and sounds so cool, cooler than English one), he obviously reminds me Joker a lot, but that's not a bad thing, maybe it's a deliberate reference. He's looks a creepy clown, just like him. He's really disturbing, especially when he smiles. Maybe he has too much glitter, but it fits Alec's flashy character.
Furthermore, his power is also interesting and quite creative. This was one of the best akuma battles this season. I have really nothing to complain about.
Tumblr media
Beyond that, Shadow Moth's reaction to the revelation that Ladybug is Adrien's classmate was really interesting. It's like he's planning to use the fact he knows she's in love with his son, just like he did in Chat Blanc. It's her weak point, knowing a such fact about his main nemesis is priceless.
--------
Wishmaker is easily in Top 5 of the best episodes of this season released till now in my opinion. Even if I don't like the fact that Luka knows. But I can change my mind if Luka is going to struggle and make something not fine with it.

Season 4, Episode 20 - Qilin
Tumblr media
It's been quite some time after premiere of Qilin and Penalteam, but as I've said before, I was waiting for the French premiere of last four episodes of season 4, since I completely dislike the English dub and I prefer to avoid watching this show in that language if I can. I started with Qilin, though Penalteam was aired a week earlier in France. I was planning to wait for Qilin release anyway, but since the war in Ukraine started, following the content about it and related to it takes quite much of my time everyday, sometimes more, sometimes less (though mostly I watch or rather listen to YouTube videos during doing something else). In few first days I was unable to concentrate on watching the show anyway. The war is in my neighbouring country and it also affects my own one a lot. Remember that Ukrainians are fighting not only for independence of their country, they are fighting for the Europe and the whole world. Poland isn't as safe as we all thought before, despite we're in both NATO and EU unlike Ukraine. Putin must be stopped for the safety of all us.
I don't know French, but I have one simple trick to get subtitles to watch the remaining episodes in language of my choice. I just rip the subtitle files from the Hulu releases. They including the American scripts of course, so they're are not ideal, but that's better than nothing. Besides Hulu is using different frame rate (23.976 fps) than other releases like Disney+ or TFOU's service (25 fps). Simple changing frame rates of subtitles isn't working ideal, I still need to manually shift time while watching, but that's not a big problem. I'm still glad that I found a solution, so I'm not forced to watch the dub that annoys me. ;)
Unfortunately, there was a problem with the French video of Qilin I got that's ripped from the TFOU's service. For some reasons there are few minutes missing, two fragments got cut. I noticed it thanks to the subtitles, since at some point text stopped to correspond to the video. Still it took some time to figure out why. I suppose something went wrong during uploading the video on the site. One of the early S4 episodes also got corrupted there. So well, since I hadno other choice than watching these missing minutes in English, I can say I don't change my opinion, I still think that the American dub is so awful, soulless and so generic. Only Shadow Moth voice was okay to me. Sorry.
Tumblr media
And you know what? I have no idea what to say about this episode, so this post should be one of the shortest and the weakest one I have written about season 4. The first part of it was quite nice, but the second one when the ticket drama started was way too absurd to me. I hate when the plot of this show is that stupidly exaggerated. It reminded me Mega Leech that's one of the worst S4 episodes in my opinion for its absurd plot that felt more like a episode of Peppa Pig or another show for preschoolers than targeted for older kids.
It was really nice to see Sabine's everyday routine and all. That she is better organised than Marinette, but also we've seen what Marinette has from her mother. That was unexpected that Sabine is interested at art like her (though totally different type). I'm also surprised that she has a job outside of working at the bakery. If I got a chance I would be interested at getting some Chinese painting classes as well. It was also surprising to see Lila there, it seems that's her biggest this season till now (remember that I haven't seen Penalteam nor Risk yet, maybe she got any speaking role in any of them, I don't know yet). I don't think it's going to be significant for the plot, but I very like the fact we've seen that Lila has life outside of being a bad girl, there's something that interests her in positive way.
But there's one thing that bothers me. Sabine has been portrayed totally one-dimensional. She's another way too much idealised character, too noble, she is also too ideal mother. She hadn't done anything even a little wrong in the entire episode. I don't like characters without a weak points, they are so boring. So yeah, Sabine is a good mother, but she's not a type of character I can care about much.
Tumblr media
Despite that I thought it's going to be a decent episode until that ticket accident happened. I don't want to comment how stupid it was that they started to treat Sabine like a terrorist just because she had no ticket or a wallet with her for a moment. Besides the akuma battle could in my top 5 the worst this season and I don't want to waste my time to write anything about that as well. So unfortunately, the whole second half of the episode was much worse than the first one. Not nearly as bad to me as some of other this season's episodes, just stupidly absurd (that happens from time to time in all seasons) and boring. Not to mention this is another episode without Adrien (as civilian) and Plagg at all, and since I lost most of my sympathy for Marinette throughout S4, this episode has not much to offer for me generally.
Tumblr media
I wonder if was that said before that Chat Noir's umbrella is a magical weapon? I don't remember that. It looks like one, since it seems to be completely indestructible. I remember that umbrella appeared once only to protect against rain (but I have no idea in which episode, since I don't rewatch any since Hack-san). I thought it was just a one-time thing to make another reference to the famous umbrella scene. If it's a new Chat's skill, why wasn't it properly introduced? Geez, that's another thing this season that appeared out of nowhere without explaining how. It makes this season feels incomplete like we're missing something.
Also I have a feeling it was the ugliest episode this season. Looking at the picture below just hurts (pay attention at Marinette's eyes and the shading). Although generally I think the animation quality of S4 is better than seasons 2 and 3, not a lot, but still. And at least I like Qilin design and especially her color scheme.
Tumblr media
In France the whole season finale is going to be aired this weekend, at 13rd March, so thankfully just one day after the international premiere of Strike Back. I would prefer to see both episodes as fast as possible because I'm worried about spoilers (I've already accidentaly seen something big in my mobile's Google feed and I hate that, I'm not saying what in this post, because it could be read by someone who tries to avoid spoilers like me, I can't be sure if it's a spoiler for any of the finale's episode, but it should be). And mostly because I still read Miraculous fanfics and I'm sure that after premiere of Strike Back there are going to be post-S4 fics with spoilers in the tags and/or summary without warning on AO3. That always happen after premiere of big episodes those bring a lot of emotion in the fandom. I plan to stop scrolling through AO3 to search for any interesting fic after premiere of Strike Back in the USA until I see the finale, but I don't want that to take too long. But definitely I'm not going to watch both episodes in one day and I plan to write two separate posts, because since it's the finale, I expect that I'm gonna to have many things to say about both of them. It would most probably take too much time to do it in one day, knowing my writing speed which is rather slow, especially not in my native language (I don't mean typing speed, that's not too bad when using computer keyboard, but thinking what to write and how to create sentences is another story), and I always takes breaks. Because of that I hope I will be able to watch Penalteam before Sunday, maybe even tomorrow. I've also seen spoilers from this episode, including its final card which is extremely spoilery. :/ At least I know that should be more interesting than Qilin and more plot focused, so I feel I'm a bit more willing to watch it soon.

Season 4, Episode 23 - Kuro Neko
Tumblr media
I enjoyed that over two months break a lot, because it also meant a break from being annoyed by that disaster which is season 4 of Miraculous. Really, it has some nice moments, but personally I'd love to throw its whole script in a dumpster, since there's no a single thing I would miss, because everything good this season is not even nearly as good as the worst things are bad. And now this show makes me pissed off again. When I heard what it's about, I felt I wanted that break to be even longer. Or season 4 to be over. That would be even better.
Tumblr media
I had to stop watching it at 2:42, because I feel I need a break and write beginning of this post along the way, since I could not stand it. Geez, I'm more and more doubt that the writers are knowing what they are doing and they are taking writing this show seriously. They give us more and more evidences they don't give a shit about consistency. In the episode which is exactly just before Kuro Nero in the order, that's been shown that Chat Noir is irreplaceable, but on the otter hand, it's completely ignoring the whole Ladynoir drama. In this one they suddenly remembered that that stupid conflict exists, but they completely ignore what's happened in Ephemeral. Is that episode even canon, because it felt more like a bad fanfic placed completely randomly in the timeline than anything (my current opinion about Ephemeral is even worse than my first thoughts written just after watching it)? Or just Marinette isn't learning anything? That's isn't new to be fair, after Hack-san (now I'm sure that's the worst episode of this show ever created), she's still refusing telling him anything.
But that's not even the reason why I needed to take a break, that's something even worse. The beginning of Kuro Neko feels to me like a parody of Ladynoir conflict, as much as Truth is a parody of a relationship (I don't even say a parody of Lukanette since I could not take it seriously even for a moment) or in every single scene with Chloé in season 4, I feel she is parody or herself. In Kuro Neko, Ladybug is even more disrespectful and neglecting than ever, even without Rena being there and stealing all her attention like before. Marinette just didn't care. Didn't care at all. Chat Noir is not more that just a tool for her. She isn't even trying to lie that he is someone more than every other Miraculous holder. The fandom can't defend her shit anymore, that she cares about him but she's just traumatized by Chat Blanc. That was purely fanom assumption from the start, that was never a thing, but the fandom treats it like a confirmed fact. She just isn't seeing him as her partner. Then if the show claims she is a great guardian, why Chat is still a permanent Miraculous holder? Like I said before, a permanent hero kept completely in the dark could be potentially extremely dangerous. Amazing guardian like her is not wise enough to see that? How is that possible? So for safety reasons, he should get his Miraculous only when the power of the cat is needed. Or Marinette should give it to Alya, since she is the only person Marinette treats like a partner who is involved in her plans and everything. I'm losing more and more patience to that bullshit. I'm starting see season 4 as a parody of Miraculous. Since they even could turn the story arc which is supposed to be the most dramatic one ever into a parody of itself.
Tumblr media
Okay, everything above was what I've written before Adrien decided to give up. Now I know it quickly became more angsty, but I still can't take that seriously. Sorry, even sad Adrien scenes are not able to make me feel something. I still see this shit as a parody that makes the Love Square even more unbelievable than ever. If she really cared about him as a human being, this scenario would have no rights to happen. At this point, I don't only believe that Marinette loves him, I can't believe that she even likes him a bit.
They only made her even more annoying, I already disliked S4 Marinette, I hardly tolerate her in this episode. She is not even able to see anything wrong in her, everything is only Chat's fault. :/ She can't see that's not only the problem with his love. The way she treats him would be hurting even without romantic love being involved, no matter who is the cat Miraculous wielder. That's not the point!!! Anyone who is forgotten and ignored all over again would be pissed off . People are hurt when they are underestimated in their job even if they hate their boss.
And Plagg isn't helping her at all. If Marinette is too stupid to understand his cheesy metaphors, why would not say something more simple like to 5 years old: "You made him feel useless, it has nothing to do with his love". Of course, he can't do it, because then the episode would end too quickly.
They really want to make the fandom hate Marinette? Is this their goal? I really don't understand why they made the protagonist as much unlikable. It's not only the problem with her attidute towards Chat. Generally, her ego became way too big since she's the guardian. And the fact that no one is even trying to question any of her decisions (minus Su-Han but he barely appears and even if, he never points out her ACTUAL mistakes, instead of his imagined ones) isn't helping at all.
Plagg: "She still loves my owner" - No, she isn't. If she loved him, she would not forget about him that easily in the first place. She would look forward to spend time with him, she would not neglet him, she would not refuse telling him everything and so on.
Tumblr media
I'm at 11:09 now and I need another break, as I'm pissed off again. Geez, even Plagg's plan made me sick: "If you became a new Chat Noit everything will be okay". It's like he thinks that Marinette never appreciated the old Chat Noir. That Adrien is the only problem. He needs to change to be accepted. He can't be his Chat self. Like there was no enough disappointment this season, they even ruining my Plagg. I think it would be healthier for Adrien to give up on being a superhero completely (now it makes him totally miserable, but with time he could deal with it, he still have school and his friends, he isn't as much alone as pre-Origins), but of course it's not gonna happen, so then Plagg should do everything to make Marinette realise that she made him feel useless and unwanted. Not forcing him to change to please her. It's not going to change the core of the problem. Plagg totally disappointed me in this episode. I expected him being angry at Ladybug and trying to fight like a lion for him. But not, Plagg just makes him convince he's not enough, he needs to be better to be worthy of Ladybug's attention. Plagg is literally like Gabriel now to him, just nicer. Before this episode I thought that the only reason why I wanted Adrien to be Chat is Plagg. Now I'm not sure. Thank you, season 4, the only thing in which you doesn't stop being successful is ruining the show to me more and more.
Ladybug: "This time, no improvising. The rules will be clear from the beginning. I'll be strict with him from now on!" Seriously? Another evidence that Ladybug has double standards. The rules do not apply to Alya, she lets her whatever she wants. And you people still think that Alya isn't unfairly favoured by her just because she's her best friend who knows her identity? I don't mean Marinette should be strict or severely punishes for her mistakes, but she should draw a line and reminds her who is the actual guardian. Like in Optigami, she should have said that Alya is not allowed to take any of the Miraculous without the consent of the guardian. You can't even say that Alya has done it for a noble reason, she has done it because the turtle user is her boyfriend. More, she got rewarded, despite her selfish action! So no wonder that Alya feels that she can do anything she wants just because she is close to Ladybug, she would never suffer consequences of her reckless and selfish actions even if something would go bad, as long as they win at the end of a day.
Tumblr media
Maybe it's because English isn't my first language but Cat Walker sounds totally stupid to me. The most idiotic hero\villain name ever. But maybe for native English speakers that's a fine name, I don't know. They will have to name him completely differently in the Polish dubbing. I have no idea if he has a different name in the French original, as I haven't seen this form mentioned on the French Wiki page of Adrien. I hope it's, so I could use it instead of Cat Walker (sorry, I cringe every time I see it) if I would ever discussing about him more in the future. His design is okay, but I dislike the hair, that looks somewhat plastic and its greenish-yellow color is so ugly.
Cat Walker: "Until we are sure about if it is a sentimonster or a person, we can't act impulsively" See? Sentimonsters' related things what Thomas Astruc says on Twitter are not ever consistent with his own show. Adrien clearly says that sentimonsters are not persons. Akumatised people would be treated like persons, even if they look like a giant piggy bank in the shape of a cat, but sentimonsters are not, even if they look like real people. So if any of the "normal" character is a sentimonster (not only Adrien, anyone), it would not make any sense. That theory is so dumb and it would always be even if it's true.
Tumblr media
"I didn't understood that he was hurt", blah, blah, blah, . Sorry the writers but I don't buy that shit anymore. It's been shown that Ladybug had been constantly ignoring him and forgetting about him. She had done a shit when he hadn't shown in several akuma battles. There's no way she would not notice it, she would not realize that something is wrong with him. I've seen people defending her, because she doesn't know his civilian life, so she can't know that he's a neglected child. But really, she doesn't need to know it to see that she treats him like a shit for a long time. Like I said above, everyone would be hurt in a such situation, even if their home life is perfect. You don't need to be extremely sensitive to feel useless and unwanted. You just need to be a normal sentient living being. And it's not even like Chat Noir being sensitive is a completely new concept to her. She's seen he is sensitive ages ago in Glaciator! In season 2! And no one had pointed that out, no Alya, no Tikki, no another Kwami. Sorry, but your Ladynoir drama doesn't make any sense if they are supposed to be in love with each other. It went way too far before. In this episode it was even worse. There's no believable excuse. I can't buy any of her words, since her actual actions say something absolutely opposite. She already said more than once that he is irreplaceable and what? Nothing.
And of course Adrien defended her. This is why I say that working with Ladybug is not healthy to him. He loves her blindly to the point he is saying that treating him like a doormat is okay. This boy doesn't need to be a superhero, he needs therapy. I don't believe anymore that Marinette will learn this lesson. She hasn't learnt anything this season. Why would I believe this time be different? For now she is only saying that Chat Noir is needed, she isn't showing it in her actions. So it would be so naive to say that Ladynoir is going to be only better from now. There were more episodes in which she was supposed to learn that she needs to appreciate him more and it hasn't changed her attitude towards him even a little.
At the end it looked like Plagg had a plan from the start that perfect Chat would not work, but what if it was? What if Ladybug would fall in love with the "perfect" Chat and she would not want the old one to come back? Maybe now it looked better, but it's still far-fetched. I still disliked Plagg in this episode.
Tumblr media
I also wasn't able to enjoy that Ladybug was totally incompetent for the most of the time and Adrien suddenly become the brains of the operation. Because the whole Ladynoir drama is just terrible written from the beginning and because it was like they suggest that he can be a thoughtful hero only when he isn't his natural Chat self.
Besides, I don't buy that Gabriel was fine that Adrien has a bad day and he doesn't want to go to school. It's completely out of character to him. He always expect nothing less that perfection from Adrien. His son is not allowed to have a bad day, he needs to be perfect all the time. He should have go to his room and reprimand him, even punish him. That's what Gabriel would do if the writers would care about consistency.
This episode has fine elements (I liked the Kuro Neko design a lot and if the whole situation wasn't that much fucked up, I would enjoy the battle), so it's not even nearly as bad as Hack-san. But this is still full of typical season 4 bullshit. From things I haven't mentioned yet, Shadow Moth didn't even seem to notice that there's a different cat Miraculous user out of nowhere and he isn't wondering what's happening. Just like with Scarabella, like it was a normal thing that ying and ying heroes are getting replacements. Especially that Ladybug called the sentimonster Chat Noir, which obviously means that he have gotten replaced, that there's a conflict between them. Shadow Moth could make a use of it if he wasn't regularly dumbed down. But yeah, seeing how much incompetent sometimes Ladybug is this season, the plot armor also needs to be stronger. So he isn't going to successfully using any of things she is giving him on a silver platter. What a pathetic supervillain.

Season 4, Episode 4 - Mr Pigeon 72
Tumblr media
I have no idea where to start. This episode has some good things and some extremely stupid.
Marinette isn't still completely fine, but I prefer when she deals with it through being hyperactive than being a whining crybaby.
Tumblr media
I know people don't agree with me, but personally I don't buy the whole revealing identity to Alya. It's not a problem with Alya herself, I would say the same about every single character who is not named Alix Kubdel at this point of the story. I haven't written anything in my post about Gang of Secrets, because I thought it would be undone in some way at the start of the next episode. The creators did nothing to explain why revealing identity of Ladybug to anyone was super dangerous and would result in a catastrophe in seasons 1-3 and the first two episodes of S4, but it's magically fine in episode 3. Only Alix made sense to me, as she will be the rabbit Miraculous holder, so she is destined to discover identities of everyone sooner or later and Marinette is aware of that. While it's not necessary to learn identity of anyone to other temporary Miraculous wielders, including Alya. Also that reveal hasn't been foreshadowed in season 3, while the show usually does it, especially if it's about something as important as that! More, in late S3, it's been shown that Alya still can't resist to not talking about Marinette's love life with Nino, despite she asked her to not do it. Now the girl, who is overly excited about superhero stuff, has no problems with even accidental revealing anything to Nino or someone else. She's even "stealing" Bunnix line that she's great at keeping secrets (sorry but you, the creators, haven't shown us that she's indeed is before!). This is why I think that reveal hasn't been planned before they started writing season 4.
But okay, I can deal with it, even if I don't buy it, but things these happened in Mr. Pigeon 72 are even more inconsistent with previous seasons. I have been worried about it, so it doesn't surprised me. For some reason Guardian related-things that have been kept in a secret before from everyone minus current Guardian and the future Guardian, are now fine being done in front of Kwamis (remember, they haven't been allowed to learn about making potions before!) and a civilian who is just a temporal Miraculous holder, not someone who is supposed to be trained to be a new Guardian. You can say - new Guardian, new rules, but why? Marinette has been portrayed as someone who respect authorities, she has never questioned any Fu's rules. It wasn't even said in the episode that she's going to change the rules. I hate that the writers don't even bother to explain us what's going on. Probably they don't bother about consistency, they think the audience is going to be too excited about Alya knowing Ladybug's identity and helping Marinette to question anything about it? How Alya could be allowed to learn the Guardian secrets? She is just best friend of the protagonist, she is not one of the main characters to get that special treatment. I makes zero sense to me. Especially since Su-Han will be introduced in episode 6 and he should help Marinette with understanding the Grimoire, Alya isn't necessary here for any other reason than fanservice.
Tumblr media
In my opinion the way how they discovering how to make charms that protects from akumasitation was the most stupid thing that happened this season and one of the most in the whole show. Marinette who is the new Guardiand and portrayed as someone extreme intelligent and creative couldn't find the solution for days, but Alya with zero training magically discovered it in a few hours at worst. And when she told her the solution in not even very clear way, Ladybug did it immediately with no effort. That was so anticlimactic. At least the animation was fine, but other aspects of it was just a big disappointment, and I was looking forward for it. Thank goodness it's just the beginning of the season, I hope later important events of the season will be better written and portrayed.
Tumblr media
Also I find it absurd that Rena Rough is walking with a page from the Grimoire like it's just an ordinary book and she's talking about it in front of a random civilian, like things that are written there are nothing special. She or Ladybug are not careful about Miraculous lore anymore. Not to mention that they are giving hints that Rena is very close to Ladybug in public, suspiciously close. And now with them being too careless, that's not hard to suspect that Rena Rouge is someone very close to Ladybug, maybe even as a civilian. Shadow Moth knows Rena Rouge's identity, and it's easy to him to learn who is Alya Cesaire's best friend if he doesn't know it yet, after all his son is in the class with her. Marinette has always been super careful and serious about her duties before, why that sudden change with zero explanation? It's just very out of character to her in my opinion.
Tumblr media
I didn't like the akuma battle either, it's now the worst fight of the season in my opinion. It was so short and felt very lazy. I only liked that Plagg got some action and interaction with Ladybug (though it should be suspicious for her that he managed to reach to her that fast). He should be aware now that Alya knows Ladybug's identity but he acts like nothing happened. Not a word about it being unfair towards his kid or something, weird.
Tumblr media
Thankfully the rest of the episode is generally more or less fun to me. It was nice to see Marinette and Kagami interacting again. I loved Kagami in the episode, although it was a bit weird to me that she isn't seemed to be affected by her breaking up with Adrien. Like her crush was very shallow, so she managed to recover herself from it very quickly. While it's been shown that Luka is hurt, despite Lukanette always seemed to be much more shallow than Adrigami in my opinion. But maybe it's because she's so down to earth, so being less emotional makes sense for her character. I liked how her attitude was opposite to Marinette's hyperactive: "No, I don't want to be in a relationship with Adrien again, he disappointed me, just let me live!!!". And she's another character who said that Marinette and Adrien are made for each other. I'm not surprised that Kagami sees it now when she tried to be with him and that didn't work. She's observant, sees more than many other characters. It seems she's an Adrienette shipper now. It's also good that her issue with Adrien wasn't resolved that easily and too fast. They need more time, but I'm sure they will be friends again.
Tumblr media
So, we've gotten shirtless Adrien. I remember seeing a tweet of Thomas in which he answered to a question if there will be a beach episode and he said we will get something similar. I wonder if he meant this episode. Oh, they just remembered that Adrien is supposed to be allergic to feathers. It seems Adrien has allergic reactions only when it's somewhat related to the plot. When it's not, he's completely fine.
Tumblr media
The reference to the famous Umbrella Scene™ out of nowhere in a random episode? It probably means something. I can see "reverse crush" supporters interpreting it as a proof to their theory, especially since this time Adrien did something clumsy and Marinette is laughing because of it (actually both of them). Or maybe because it's the first episode of season 4 with Marinette and Adrien interactions, they decided to be that much gracious for Adrienette fans, to compensate lack of it in the first three episodes. Oh wow, Marinette managed to propose spending more time together to Adrien without stuttering. Probably because she has done it spontaneously. Marinette is the most nervous when she's planning and thinking what could go wrong too much. This time she had no time to it, so it went more smoothly. It's like they building development of their relationship, but it didn't seem in Guiltrip (that's episode 11 chronologically) that something changed.
Tumblr media
Seeing screenshot above, you can easily imagine how great friends they could be, being very comfortable around each other and laughing together, if not Marinette's anxiety. We need Adrienette development so much to get more moments like this.
Oh and I just realized that it's also one of the veeeeery few episodes with no real Ladynoir at all (the only other one I remember is Style Queen). So if there was no Adrienette it would be an episode without interactions of two main characters at all (although we almost got Ladrien). It could be another reason why this episode is that nice for Adrien and Marinette ship.
Tumblr media
After seeing overly excited Marinette dancing in the rain, I can't believe she can manage completely give up on Adrien. It doesn't look like this at all.
Also we've seen three photos of Adrien wearing THAT scarf. It could not mean nothing different that foreshadowing that he's going to discover the truth about it somewhere this season. But I have no idea what Ladybug's mask with shining eyes could mean.
I don't know what to think about the episode. Despite absurd Guardian-related things, I still liked it much more than Gang of Secrets, but I have no idea if I generally enjoyed it more than other episodes of this season or not. At least it's an episode without stupid drama, which is amazing.
---------
I'm currently less active on social media, because my internet connection is very unstable, it often works very slowly to the point I'm not patient enough to visit Tumblr. Also I block spoiler tags again, because I don't want to see spoilers from the episodes those are going to be released very soon, as I feel that they reveal too much to me once more. We're currently in a marathon of the new episodes and since watching them is the more more enjoyable, the less I know about them, I decided to try avoid spoilers as much as I can. The only bad thing is that I can't be read discussions about the new episodes, reblog them and adding something from me until Optigami will be aired.

Season 4, Episode 10 - Sangsure (Mega Leech)
Tumblr media
I'm not very willing to write a post about this episode, but I need to try, as I decided to make ones for every single season 4 one. I can't say I liked it, since it felt more childish than any other episode (I often had a feeling like I'm watching a show for preschoolers) and the whole situation there was just absurdy stupid. It's great that they wanted to draw children's attention to the environmental protection, but they could make more of an effort while writing its main theme. Even those worse season 1 episodes haven't been that stupid. Sorry, it's Miraculous, not PJ Masks, we have full rights to expect something at least a bit more reasonable. Even for target audience (that's kids at age of 5+ according to Thomas Astruc) this episode could be seen as ludicrous. My almost 11 years old nephew likes to point out some illogical things in cartoons, so I'm sure this episode would make very little sense to him as well, if any. I said that Guiltrip felt too childish to me, but now I should say, that episode seems much better in comparison to this.
Tumblr media
I don't want even say what's absurd in this episode, it should be obvious for everyone. No one would cut down the trees only to build towers that will produce fresh air to sell in the bottles. And a examination of committee of experts would be done before startig the project, not after. But even if, there would be a lot more activists who would protest agains that, than just one teen girl and her boyfriend. Paris is a big city with two millions of citizens, I'm sure there live thousand of environmental activists. But I need to say that real-life commercials are sometimes even more stupid that the one from this episode (I feel bad for Adrien for being involved in something like that), so that aspect was actually realistic. :P
Tumblr media
Poor Myléne, she deserves better than just two episodes with very cheaply written lesson about overcoming your own fears. I think Horrificator was one of the weakest season 1 episodes, but even that was better than Mega Leech. Myléne is a such sweet girl and her role of a environmental activists is really great, especially these days when educating people about need of the environmental protection is crucial for our planet. But I wish they would use her character better.
Tumblr media
But I very, very like her superhero costume, it's my favourite hero desing from this season till now (I know that all, or most, of the Miraculous users have been spoiled some time ago, but I'm trying to avoid seeing pictures of them). I've always thought Mutlimouse is so sweet, but Polymouse could be even cuter. I like that he has a hood with mouse ears, it makes her stand out from Multimouse even more. I only wish they would show her using a weapon in the battle (which is the jump rope). Also that was nice to see her how her real hair looks like exactly in the transformation sequence, that's really great and has more orchestral music theme which doesn't sound too cute or corny.
Tumblr media
I said before that Ladybug should not call backup heroes those have been exposed before, but in this episode it made more sense, since it was late in the battle, it happened fast, and Ladybug already had a plan what to do with them. It was nice to see them, especially that there was no Rena Rouge among them (although it's definitely only because it's a pre-Optigami episode, I expect to see her in every single one since she's the permanent heroine), even if their roles were minimal. But is Ryuuko ever going to get a full transformation sequence and music theme?
I realized that this season have barely any completely new characters that are akumatised. There are more new sentimonsters. As for now it was only Zoé, but I'm pretty sure that the scientist seen in Rocketear will be one of them and I remember Thomas saying something about a football player. I understand that's for saving money and because the characters need to get their own protective charms, so I won't be surprised if we will see all of them akumatised one more time (it might mean another akumas of Luka and Kagami). At least more important of known characters got the new forms.
Tumblr media
Oh, the end of it is obviously a reference to the Gabriel Agreste episode that should have been aired just before Mega Leech. Now we can clearly see that it's theme is probably: "Adrien is unable to stand up to his father", Guiltrip suggests that as well.
--------
I love that this time we finally got an episode which wasn't a part of annoying Alya's arc, again. Sadly, it wasn't a good one. Maybe Crocoduel will be decent (and yes, I'm avoiding spoilers, so I know nothing about that).

Season 4, Episode 14 - Sentibulleur (Sentibubbler)
Tumblr media
I just seen the episode today, because I wasn't looking forward for another Alya-centric one, I'm already sick of it. I did it only now when have more free time. It's the first time, since I'm a Miraculous fan, when I'm starting watching a completely new episode without feeling even a bit of excitation. I'm not gonna lie that I enjoyed it, I don't, because it's not my cup of tea. This is why this post is more about why I dislike Alya favouritism than Sentibubbler itself. But I need to clarify that I didn't enjoy the episode mostly because of personal taste, I'm not trying to say it's "objectively" bad (though opinions are never objective, only facts could be). If you love Alya's arc, it's completely understandable that you probably love this episode as well.
I thought it would be a DjWfi episode (to be clear, I haven't seen any trailers of it, only one screenshot, which was said to be from this episode, but I don't remember seeing that moment in it at all, and the ending card), but poor Nino was just a background character. This is literally an "Alya is amazing" episode in which she is saving the world with a very little help of Ladybug and even less of Chat Noir, who is treated more like an offending trash. After watching it, I see fan edits like that are even more accurate to describe season 4 (not made by me, I just stole it from Cartoon Apocalypse's video).
Tumblr media
Adrien was supposed to be a deuteragonist and a second main character, but Alya is much more like ones than Adrien has ever been. He has never gotten as many episodes focusing on him as much like those with Alya in a season (and we can be sure, it's not the last one) and he has never be as much the main hero in a fight against villains in any of them. Instead of giving him more screentime, he's putted even more in the background than before, because Alya needs to shine. Why they can't do it without treating Adrien that much unfair? I'm not gonna hide that I hate it and it makes me feel that maybe I should stop watching the show, since it looks like it's not something I really enjoy anymore. Adrien is my favourite character, so I'm really pissed of that Alya is stealing his role. We will see, but once I will be sure that Alya favouritism is gonna last forever, I would consider stopping watching the show seriously. Especially that doesn't go hand in hand with good writing. In this episode nothing as much absurd like in Optigami happened, but I still have one big issue.
It's not a problem with Alya herself. I'm used to like her, even if she's been annoying me sometimes before S4. But I don't know what to think about her this season, since I have some issues with her writing. I just don't like the idea of as much favouritism any of the characters who are not the original main ones, especially if Adrien is treated that bad by the writing at the same time. I would say the same if it was Kagami, who is my third favourite character in the show, after Adrien and Plagg. As you see, I like the Japanese girl even more than Marinette, but I still don't think that making her more important than the protagonist would be okay (it would make no sense, but you know what I mean).
Besides, I've seen people speculating that Alya is going to fuse the fox with ladybug Miraculous in an episode in which Marinette is akumatised (if one will ever happen). Don't you see how much unfair to Adrien/Chat Noir it is? Alya is already getting much of special treatment, more than a character who was supposed to be the next most important one after the current Guardian of the Mother Box. An episode with Marinette as an akuma should be the one in which Chat Noir is saving her without help of any other heroes, just like she has saved him alone in Chat Blanc. If there was a fusion of the fox and ladybug, it would mean that's not a story mostly about Marinette and Adrien anymore. It would make it clear that the writers are not even try to hide the fact that's now it's Alya the second most important character. Adrien could be the third one at best, Chat is only a sidekick of the Ladies, not really a hero equal to Ladybug anymore. Besides, episode like that is most probably the only chance to see Tikki using her power without a wielder. Wouldn't it really interesting to see what bad happens when Tikki is using Lucky Charm all by herself?
And to be fair, this season has really way too much Alya generally, I'd like to see more other heroes, not just Rena Rouge and Rena Rouge over and over again. I want more new Miraculous wielders and since Ladybug is calling the old ones (though she definitely should not do it), I want to see them in action too. We need to get a full transformation sequence of Ryuuko at least once. But the more episodes they are released, the less I believe it would ever happen. Good thing that they found few seconds to show Chat's sequence (only a second time in 10 episodes!), but still no Cataclysm. I wonder if they are even going to show it after season 3.
Tumblr media
I have no idea what writers are planning to do. If they're want Alya to be a permanent Miraculous holder who is treated like co-guardian by Marinette forever, why they write her that way? Why isn't she really noble and careful? Why all those red flags she's giving Marinette (those she always ignore anyway): like letting Mr. Ramier know that Ladybug's the Guardian now, though she asked her to keep it as a secret, or stealing a Miraculous that almost made Ladybug's identity exposed. Are any of those events be relevant later? Are they there to show that saying Alya everything about the Guardian things and giving her the fox Miraculous permanently are bad decisions? If yes, what's the purpose of Sentibubbler? This episode doesn't seem to be really significant, it's more like another one fan service for Alya stans. The previous ones were actually important, this one could be missed without much a loss for the plot. The only reason it could be seen as significant is to make Marinette letting her guard down even more. But isn't she extremely careless already? After revealing her identity, she immediately started to tell Alya all the Guardian secrets, gave her a code for the Miracle Box, as well as the Miraculous permanently, despite her identity being exposed and all the wrong things she has done. Marinette is already dealing completely reckless with Alya, there's no reason to make her even more. Besides, that dream can't be a prophetic one, right? I remember that adult Bunnix really believed that exposing Ladybug's identity is something what Alya is able to do (from her time at least), but I think it's impossible to happen in real. That's why I see this episode as the most "fillerish" from all of this's season those have been released till now. Other ones introduced new characters or Miraculous wielders at least, nothing really new and crucial happened in this one. There's nothing bad in fillers, but why another Alya-centric one? Why not focusing on a character who hasn't been favoured this season instead?
Tumblr media
The most stupid thing in this episode is that Rena Rouge made an illusion in which Ladybug says that she won't give the Miraculous to her anymore, for two reasons. One is that Gabriel bought that very weak lie without questioning it at all. It's clearly a plot armor. I know that they tend to make Gabriel very dumb when they need it from the beginning, but it's extremely stupid even to him. Hey, Gabriel, you know Rena Rouge's identity for some time now and Ladybug has been already giving Rena the fox few times before after her identity being exposed. Why that sudden decision? Isn't it suspect? Second is that it's been portrayed as a clever thing, while it makes Alya unable to be Rena Rouge anymore, if they don't want to show to Shadow Moth that was a lie. I'm not talking only about the battles, Rena can't be seen in public, since Ladyblog is not the only place which is showing content about the heroes. So then there's no reason for Alya to keep the fox anymore. Unless I interpret it wrong, and Marinette doesn't think it would make Gabriel stop going after Alya. But to me it looked like that and that's also make Marinette dumb anyway, because she is still unable of seeing how dangerous it is for her best friend. Alya's plan worked once, but it doesn't mean it would work again, once he discovers the lie, it would make him even more suspicious of a bond between Rena Rouge and Ladybug. Marinette is risking not only safety of Paris and the whole world, but also safety of her best friend. Why everyone is able to see that obvious thing, not only the girls but also all of the Kwamis? I'm not going to change my opinion that they are dumbing down all the characters who are involved in it and that's just bad and lazy writing.
And where's Su-Han when he's needed. I've been working on the English subtitles for the French dubbing of Furious Fu recently and now I remember that he said that he's going to observe Marinette and take the box from her is she makes a slight mistake. She's keeping making bad decisions, but he still isn't showing. That was a lie? Because if he doesn't see anything wrong in how's Marinette is dealing with her guardian duty, I'm gonna to lose the rest of my faith in the writers.
--------
I'm so sorry. I wanted to be active on Tumblr at least a bit after seeing this episode, but I still don't feel motivated. It's painful to say that season 4 is mostly a disappointment to me, especially that I hate the biggest story arc of it.

Season 4, Episode 13 - Optigami
Tumblr media
I was hoping it might be my favourite S4 episode till now, but it can't be, since I absolutely hate how they are writing "Alya knows" plot arc.
Tumblr media
What writers are doing with it is ridiculous. They make Marinette more stupid and irresponsible than ever before to make Alya shine (although she is doing dumb things as well, so I'm not sure I can say she is shining, she is rather also a victim of writing). She is not respect the rules, she has not enough humility (knowing Ladybug's identity and everything about Guardian is not enough, she also wants getting Miraculous permanently), she makes careless things. And what? She is rewarded for it. Do you remember previous seasons? When Marinette did something stupid, Tikki said it out loud. What's happening in season 4? Nothing. No matter what, Tikki and other Kwamis tell nothing. And some of them has been portrayed as wise or careful before (like Wayzz or Sass). I don't see it this season. Now when Tikki questioning reckless Marinette decisions is the most needed, she does nothing. And what's with Su-Huan? What is he doing? Is he one episode character only? Maybe he should start monitoring how's doing the new Guardian? Because it seems that she's is not doing well with her duties.
@bookdragonlibrary has told me that Marinette being incompetent as the Guardian in Mr. Pigeon 72 makes sense, because she was in a big stress. It could be a good argument if Marinette was as much incompetent as Ladybug as well. But being in stress hasn't affected her in the akumas battles at all. And since Optigami is 13rd episode, "Marinette is completely new as the Guardian" can't be justification of her mindless actions anymore. They just downgraded Marinette's intelligence and wisdom of some of the Kwamis as well.
This is why I think that the whole "Alya knows" story arc is absurd and inconsistent with the previous seasons. Do you want more examples? Thanks @bookdragonlibrary for reminding me that in Gang of Secrets Ladybug told to Alya that she has no permission to reveal that she's the Guardian now on Ladyblog. And what's Alya doing in the next episode? She's revealing that Ladybug is the Guardian in front of Mr. Ramier and giving some informations that are supposed to be "top secret" stuff to him. Marinette, or other characters, didn't react to it at all. If Mr. Ramier likes to gossip, he could easily spread the news to the whole Paris. It shows that Alya and Marinette don't think about possibility of the consequences of their actions at all. Alya is also supposed to be a great journalist in the future, how am I going to believe in it, if she's doing those many things mindlessly?
Tumblr media
I know that made Gabriel and Nathalie are going to pay more attention to Alya and thanks to it they could discover Ladybug's identity. Actually now, that should be extremely easy to start suspect Marinette (since that's not a secret and she's Alya's best friend) and start tracking her. And it should happen immediately, in the next episode. But I'm sure the writers are not going to make him minimal smart. I think it will take him many episodes, and even if, it will happen at the end of the season. Still it's not a reason to make the characters dumb and reckless.
I would like to see Gabriel and Nathalie knowing Ladybug identity before Marinette knows identities of the villains, it would be very interesting. But I don't think it's going to happen in the way the end of Optigami foreshadows. In my opinion, even if Gabriel starts tracking Marinette, she will discover that in some way before it's too late, and she will mislead him. Just like Gabriel has done it in Collector or Adrien in Gorizilla. It's too fast. Most probably Shadow Moth is going to be defeated at the end of season 5, so I can't see that he's learning Ladybug's identity in season 4. Also I can't believe that there are going to be real and very big consequences for Marinette and Alya. The danger will rather be only temporary, at the end it will be said like telling Alya about absolutely everything was a very good idea from the start. Maybe they have done some a bit questioning things, but nothing really bad.
Tumblr media
Is there something I liked in this episode? Yes, of course, though stupid actions of Alya and Marinette made it harder to enjoy it. That's great they tried to make villains more smart and we've seen they are doing something more than just sending akumas and amoks after random civilians. They have some more deliberate plans. There was plenty of action and it was more interesting than in most other this season's episodes (basically, I think that akuma battles in other episodes than Truth, Furious Fu and maybe Guiltrip are rather boring).
Also I like how the Lucky Charm was utilized, not to beat the akuma/sentimonster like always, but to discover the plan of Shadow Moth and Nathalie.
Tumblr media
And the design of ladybug and bee fusion is great. Marinette's superhero suits are always so good and this one is one of my favourites. I like her hairstyle the most. I think Ladybee design is even better than Queen Bee or Vesperia's (although there's nothing bad in them as well).
Tumblr media
I expected this episode to focus more on Marinette and Adrien as civilians. Remember, I haven't watched the trailer(s) and I was trying to avoid spoilers as much as I could. I'm barely active on Tumblr and Instagram since that one week marathon of the new episodes has started (because I'm afraid of spoilers), but unfortunately, I forgot I should be careful with YouTube as well, so thumbnails and titles of the videos spoilered me the ladybug and bee Miraculous fusion and end card, so I knew it's actually Alya-centric episode again. But maybe it's actually a good thing, thanks to it, I'm not as much disappointed as I could be otherwise.
I absolutely didn't want them to reveal their identities now, like they teased us. I'm not crazy about getting The Reveal ™ as fast as possible, I actually think that doing it too early would not be good. The Love Square is a great and unique concept, so there's no reason to kill it too early. I fully accepted the idea of secret identities from the start. This is why the idea of of Marinette telling someone wasn't overly exciting to me, I could see it for Alix, as only it made sense to me at this point of the story. I could accept it, if it was done right, but it's done very bad.
But seeing early synopsis of this episode, I expected that we should get some Adrienette development. Optigami is episode 13, it's really in time to do this! I was hopping that we should see Marinette being more and more comfortable around Adrien which would lead to the reveal in the season finale. Because I think the main characters should build a very strong bond as both civilians and superheroes before it happens (another reason why I would not like to see the reveal in season 2 or 3). Marinette should be ready to confess (but that doesn't mean she would do it then) and get to know who Adrien really is well, before she discovers that her crush is also her partner who she has been rejecting many times before. It doesn't look like it's happening now. So if nothing changes soon, it could mean that the reveal between Marinette and Adrien will happen rather in season 5.
Also Alya now is getting more screentime and more action than Adrien. Rena Rouge transformation sequence has been seen in three episodes, Chat Noir's in only once and there's no Cataclyms full animation at all (I'm curious about arrangement of its theme). Adrien is reduced to nearly a background character in many of the episodes this season, it's noticeable more than before to me, and I feel it is so unfair. But even now, Alya is still mostly portrayed as the best friend of the protagonist than a character on her own. I would like to see more her doing something which has nothing to do with Marinette and Ladybug. It could make her really shine, now I see her mostly as a character who is doing very reckless things without thinking about the consequences.
-----------------------
The lesson I just learned is that I can't get excited about any upcoming season 4 episodes, no matter how much interesting its synopsis sounds. I should be rather careful about every single one. And sometimes seeing unwanted spoilers is not that bad if thanks to them, I can avoid being too much disappointed. As after seeing the end card of it, I knew this episode is nothing like I imagined.

Season 4, Episode 7 - Pirkell (Sole Crusher)
Tumblr media
I want to keep a tradition of writing a post about every single S4 episode, but this one is hard to me. I have no idea what to write about it, as this episode is not the most exciting I've seen in this show. I have some thoughts about it, but I have problems with writing them in a language which isn't my first one. Though, I'm going to try like always.
Tumblr media
I'm not trying to judge Zoé as a character after this one episode. I need to see her in few more. But it doesn't look like we're going to see her often, since she's in an another class.
It seems she had been living around other spoiled kids like Chloé, if they had trouble accepting her when she tries to be herself, as she's extremely nice and sweet to other people. Good for her that she has moved to Paris and found friends in Marinette's class. Actually André was more interesting to me than Zoé in this episode. We discovered something new about him, his better side. He isn't really a bad father, he spoils Chloé, because he can't refuse her wishes. Although we can't say he is a really good person, as he's still a corrupted politician. But at least he could be a better father for Zoé than any of her birth parents. Her real father is also rich, and probably he completely neglects her, Audrey seems to prefer Chloé now. It looks like Zoé and André are compatible with each other and they can get along well.
Tumblr media
I didn't like how Chloé's bad behavior was exaggerated in this episode. I know it was for comedic effect, but it didn't work for me. Especially Sabrina in the closet. It was just awful. I remember seeing somewhere Thomas (probably) saying that Chloé and Sabrina toxic relationship is going to be addressed someday, and I'm looking forward to it even more now.
Tumblr media
I haven't watched any of trailers of this episode, because I've been trying to avoid spoilers as much spoiler I could, but I've seen some screenshots from it and I've been really confused seeing the akuma looking exactly like Chloé (and I didn't know who is akumatised for sure before watching it). It's not my favourite akuma design or power, but it makes perfect sense combined with her French name which means "worse then her". I wonder what they are going to do with it in Polish dubbing, because neither French or English pun would work.
Tumblr media
I liked they showed another Kwami using their power without a wielder and see its consequences. It seems all the Kwamis know where Plagg is and that they can try to reach to Chat Noir if needed.
Tumblr media
The thing which was the most exciting to see in this episode is in the screenshot above... until I've seen Thomas tweet mentioned on the Miraculous wiki. I was sure it shows Tomoe Tsurugi when she was younger, but Astruc said she's just a random character. Unless he's lying. It's hard to believe they made a model of character that resembles Kagami so much, while it could be one of the background characters if she was supposed to be someone irrelevant. That's suspicious. So or Thomas tries to troll us, or the show itself. The first option is definitely more likely. ;) Tomoe being an actress in the past would be very interesting and it would link her with the Bourgeois family.
---
Pirkell (I like the French name of akuma much better, because of the pun) won't be among my favourite episodes, but Queen Banana looks much more interesting, so I'm looking forward for the next one! :)

Season 4, Episode 11 - Culpabysse (Guiltrip)
Tumblr media
It's not easy to make a post about Guiltrip, as I don't think I have much to say. It wasn't bad, but it felt like a random season 1 episode (aside of a new Miraculous wearer), just like a very typical for a kids show, also a bit too childish for my taste. Although there are some interesting things. And it's not dramatic, but more lighthearted, which is a change in atmosphere I needed much after three first episodes, especially Gang of Secrets.
I felt rendering of this episode is weird. Very weird. But maybe it's because of bad quality of the video. I tried to find few different sources and it seems there's only one rip of this episode and its quality is low. It's way too bright and blurred. Maybe we need to wait for other dubbings to get a better version in which everything will be fine. Probably Germany will release this episode at the earliest, as French language TV channels prefer to release S4 in order and they wait for more episodes. Unless there are going to be more countries that will be airing season 4 out of order.
Tumblr media
But there was one weird thing in the animation which isn't fault of the quality of the TV rip, that one shot which has been spoilered by Gloob some time ago with Adrien and Marinette with bubble background. It's an almost static frame which appears completely out of nowhere and with no purpose other than Adrienette fanservice. At least it looked like Adrien enjoys when Marinette falls on him, but still that was completely redundant.
Besides I can't say I like Brazillian Portuguese dubbing. I'm sorry to say that but it seems soulless to me. I have also one more issue with that version - flawed audio mixing. Maybe again it's more issue of the rip quality (low quality mono), but still music was too quiet, it was hardly hearable in many moments, so it felt empty, like something is lacking. This is why watching this episode was a really weird experience, blurred video mixed with music which was too quiet to build the atmosphere properly.
Tumblr media
The thing I liked about the episode the most is that it explains Rose overly childish attitude. I have always liked her the least from all classmates for that reason. It didn't change, but at least now I understand her more and it's easier to accept her behavior, which has always seemed too exaggerated for me, like she's still a child from a kindergarten. Rose just wants to enjoy her life and be treated like a normal girl. It's completely understandable and very beautiful. Good for her.
The second thing I liked the most was a change in a formula during the Akuma battle. Reflekta was just completely useless with no will to fight at all. The only issue was a Sentimonster which wasn't even a typical living thing. Interesting thing is also that the episode was more about Rose, despite Juleka was akumatised. And now I understand why it was Reflekta once again, it would be a waste of time and resources to design and model a new villain who is doing nothing, in fact.
Tumblr media
Pigella's transformation sequence was quite long and very fun. Her costume is cute, but I can't say it's one of my favourites. And it's hard to say anything about the music theme - I prefer to wait for a better rip of audio, it lost nuances. The pig's superpower seems to be useful only in very specific scenarios in battles, but that's quite unique and it should help with preventing akumatisations.
Tumblr media
I'm a bit disappointed that despite how it seemed to be in trailers of this episode, there's no actual development in Adrienette. Episode 11 and Marinette is still flustered around Adrien. Maybe she needs even more time than I thought before, more time with Adrien. I hope this season will give it us later. Actually, they reached to Juleka together accidentally, so there's no real team working (yet). And if I didn't forget about something, it's been the first time when Adrien said something "unfavourable" about Marinette - "Not everything you say makes sense". Though, he's not wrong, so we can't blame him. ;)
Tumblr media
Also Adrien, I very liked him in this episode, we haven't seen as much clearly before that he's the most empathetic kid in the class. He can easily empathise with others and he know how to talk with people. In fanom people usually make him a science teacher, but now I think he is a good material to became a psychologist. This kid is amazing. What a shame not everyone had someone like him the class.
Besides, it was nice to see an episode in school finally and get some more civilian interaction. :) BTW. Lila is not even trying to pretend that she cares about Juleka or Rose. Is it means something?
