You know what’s mine <roman empire>? This two Lana’s songs and the way they complement each other.

My momma is a very old piece from the May Jailer era. The lyrics tell a story about a girl who keeps her lover away from her mum with whom she has a bad relationship. The love they share is a secret. We can assume that this song was inspired by Lana and her mother’s harsh relationship. The girl in the song has nobody she could talk to (no parental figure).

On the other hand we have the Cherry Blossom. Noone will convince me that this song isn’t Lana’s apostrophe to her hypothetical child (or maybe her younger self?). The song openes with the line „What you don't tell no one, you can tell me” which is so heartbreaking considering that Lana herself has been neglected by her mother. By this words, she would like her daughter to know that she will always be there for her. Likely, Lana has felt like she never had a mum she could talk, so now she doesn’t want her daughter to feel the same way…
