Meeting The Team
John Price being an inhuman probably would have upset Ghost more had he not been so numb to the world. Ghost had been officially born; Simon Riley was dead, along with his family. Crude, ugly scars twisted his face into a mock grin, something he learned is called a Glasgow smile. If Ghost himself could not bear to see them in the mirror, why would anyone else? How could anyone else? So he took to covering his face. Thus Ghost was born.
Now, Simon Riley had worked with John Price before his supposed death, but it wasn't for long and he still didn't really know the man. He knew Price to be a good man, however, and was rather pleased to hear he'd be working under the captain.
The mission itself was a simple infiltrate and extract operation, one that Ghost could probably do perfectly well on his own. But alas, given the novelty of his new identity, many higher ranking personnel refused to allow him solo for the time being. At least Ghost was stuck with someone relatively decent from his limited experience, and a fellow human.
Or at least Ghost thought he was with another human. He was due for a very nasty reality check when he happened to glance over at the Captain while tightening his tac vest. Ghost stopped all motion as he watched with sickening horror as Price's appearance contorted into a lowly guard for the site they were infiltrating. Price groaned a bit as he popped a few joints in adjustment to his different body.
"You alright?" Price asked in a noticeably different voice as he noticed the wide eyes of the lieutenant.
"Fine, sir." He snapped out, perhaps a bit too quickly. He wasn't all that shocked to be honest, a man of Price's reputation can't possibly be human, and it validated Ghost's feelings of uncanny valley when interacting with Price. It had seemed his intuition that something was different proved right. He wasn't shocked, no, more angry that no one bothered to tell him.
"I thought you knew." Price spoke quietly, almost sheepishly, at Ghost's sharp response.
"Quite frankly, sir, I don't give a shit. We've got a job to do, and I take it you've got a plan." Ghost meets Price's eyes, his expression earnest despite being blank. Price smirked back, slowly nodding.
"That I do."
~~~~~~
Ghost never enjoyed being assigned to various teams of rather inexperienced soldiers, especially ones run by cocky, know-it-all sergeants. He had arrived after the team to assist them with the stealth aspect of their assignment, since their last one had apparently gone haywire. Granted, it wasn't a real assignment, but rather a simulation and Ghost was there to teach them where they went wrong last time. Ghost scanned the clearing where the men were gathered, the cold spray from the sea chilling him even through all his layers.
"Glad you could make it, Lieutenant!" The sergeants, Ghost couldn't be bothered to remember his name, waved in greeting. Ghost resisted the urge to roll his eyes and instead remained quiet as he took his place.
"Do you have a plan for getting inside the walls?" Ghost asked, and the sergeant nodded, briefly patting the air tank in front of him.
"There's a locking system under the water against this side gate. I can easily be in and out. The gate will open and I'll meet the men on the inside." Sergeant Daniels, as Ghost suddenly remembered, said rather matter-of-factly. Ghost frowned at him. The plan didn't make sense, but he didn't want to say anything until after the fact, so as to avoid getting into an argument before anything has a chance to go wrong. Sergeants like this one loved to argue. Ghost didn't.
"Have you checked the tank?" Ghost asked, and the sergeant's eyes widened a bit before he bent over to check. Ghost did roll his eyes this time, and instead let his gaze wander to the small team. Most of them looked as green as they probably were, but one didn't. Instead of looking apprehensive like his counterparts, he seemed at peace, his stance relaxed and a small, almost knowing smirk on his lips. He met Ghost's eye and vaguely nodded his head towards Daniels, only to match Ghost's eye roll.
He hated to admit it, but Ghost already liked this kid. He was a corporal, given the markings on his uniform, but he still seemed to know more than the Sergeant.
"Um, there's a problem with the air tank. I'll lose more air than I get to breathe if I take this down." Daniels's nervous voice drew back Ghost's attention, but before he practically snapped his neck to look, he noticed the subtle face palm from the corporal.
"Got a spare?" Ghost snapped, and Daniels shook his head.
"That's mistake number one. Never under prepare. Better safe than a dead man." Ghost barked out, barely containing his anger. He really didn't want to be spending his weekend like this.
"I can breathe underwater." A different voice spoke up, and Ghost felt a bit of relief seeing it came from the corporal.
"How well can you see under there?" Ghost asked and the kid fought back a grin, settling for a small smile.
"Pretty damn well, I'd say." He responds, and Ghost nods. He turns back to glare at Daniels.
"You'd better be fucking grateful he volunteered. You won't be so lucky next time." He said, as dark and threatening as he could be without scarring the idiot for life. Daniels nodded strongly before taking a step back to allow Ghost full authority.
"Got a name, Corporal?" Ghost asked, and the man opened his mouth and closed it again before he gave a formal response.
"Kyle Garrick, sir." Ghost quirked a brow in question.
"Did you have something else to say?"
"I was only going to be smart-ass with your question, sir." Garrick responded, standing a bit straighter as if expecting the already agitated lieutenant to snap.
"Well then let's hear it." Ghost replied, surprising even himself.
"Was only going to say, no, I actually don't have a name." Garrick quipped back, and Ghost nodded, almost solemnly.
"A fellow unloved child, I see. Good to know." Ghost said, and Garrick let out a small laugh in shock.
"Permission to dive, sir?" He asked and Ghost scanned him briefly. The corporal really wasn't dressed for the weather, but given the fact he can apparently breathe underwater, Ghost supposed it didn't really matter.
"Can you disable the lock and alarm system?" He asked, and Garrick confidently nodded.
"Go for it." And with the lieutenant's permission, Garrick gracefully slipped into the water with barely a sound. Ghost shook his head after briefly glancing at Daniels, deciding not to push anything for his own sanity.
It wasn't long at all, rather only a minute or two, before the corporal resurfaced, giving them the go ahead. The rest of the simulation was a disaster on all fronts that didn't include Corporal Garrick. Ghost had yelled himself raw afterwards, and he even allowed Garrick to slip away before the berating began. Afterwards, as Ghost headed to his temporary quarters for the night, he passed the corporal.
"You did good out there, Garrick." Ghost said, half expecting the corporal to not have heard him approach. Instead, he gave Ghost a smile and a nod, seemingly already aware of his presence. It was times like this Ghost was jealous of his inhuman counterparts for their uncanny abilities to detect subtle changes around them.
"Thank you, sir. And, most people call me Gaz." He responded, his smile brightening. Ghost frowned at him, uncertain as to why he felt so drawn by him. He must've stared too long, as Gaz's face suddenly twisted into embarrassment. Iridescent scales slowly faded into view along his cheek bones and along the crest of his nose.
"Sorry, I keep forgetting some species are more... susceptible." Gaz muttered, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck. Ghost didn't understand why Gaz had said species instead of humans specifically, as that was more likely to be the case, but he didn't question it. He also didn't question what he meant by susceptible, but he refused to ask for his own peace.
"Well, good night, then. Hope to work with you again, Gaz." Ghost mumbled, and Gaz smiled once again.
"Thank you, sir. I hope to work with you, as well."
~~~~~~
Meeting Sergeant MacTavish was an... interesting experience for him, to say the least. Ghost had heard stories of the sergeant with the ability to produce lightning from his fingertips and a knack for blowing shit up. Yeah, because that's the perfect man for a stealth op.
Perhaps it was because Ghost had underestimated him, or perhaps it was the typical pre-mission jitters he still hasn't gotten used to, but something put him on edge when he saw the sergeant. Every hair on his body stood on end as the man approached him, a confident, if not cocky, grin stuck on his face. Thunder rolled in the distance, and something quite literally flashed in the Scotsman's eyes.
"Let's make this one a win, yeah Lt? Save you a seat, sir." Soap said, punctuating his sentence with a light punch to Ghost's shoulder that sent a harmless, yet startlingly shock through his body. Ghost watched him saunter away and onto the carrier as his heart beats loudly in his chest.
He'll never catch a break, will he?

“This is a message to David Beckham.
I consider you, along with Kim Woodburn and Monty Don, to be a gay icon. You were the first premiership footballer to do shoots with gay magazines like Attitude, to speak openly about your gay fans, and you married a Spice Girl, which is the gayest thing a human being can do. But now it’s 2022 and you’ve signed a reported £10 million deal with Qatar, to be their ambassador during the FIFA world cup. Qatar was voted (as) one of the worst places in the world to be gay. Homosexuality is illegal, punishable by imprisonment and if your Muslim, possibly even death. You’ve always talked about the power of football as a force for good which suggests to me that you’ve never seen West Brom. But generally I agree - so with that in mind I’m giving you a choice: If you end your relationship with Qatar I’ll donate these ten grand of my own money - that’s a grand for every million you’re reportedly getting - to charities who support queer people in football. However, if you do not at midday next Sunday I will throw this money into a shredder, just before the opening ceremony of the world cup, and stream it live on a website I’ve registered called benderslikebeckham.com. Not just the money but also your status as a gay icon will be shredded. You’ll be forcing me to commit a crime - although even then I reckon I’ll get off more lightly than I would if I got caught wanking off a lad in Doha. The choice is yours! I look forward to hearing from you.”

Cheers to the Unknown Pt.5
Monster/cryptid au ft. Just A Dude!Ghost; canon-divergent, alternate universe. More details here (parts are not a coherent story necessarily just scenarios as they come to me !subject to change!;all tagged under "cheers to the unknown") TW: language; little bit of self-deprecation (again)
Siren!Gaz Helping Ghost Get Some Much Needed Sleep
Ghost and Soap had been dating for almost a month when the sergeant and Captain Price were sent out for an operation that would take roughly a week. Ghost was fine with it, he never put up a fight and helped send them on their way.
But Gaz knew better. Gaz was ready to strangle the human if he didn't fix his sour mood and soon. Ghost had spent the better part of the last five days snapping at everyone and being generally just grumpier than normal. Gaz knew it was a lack of sleep; he had learned through Soap how surprisingly touchy Ghost was, especially at night.
Despite how fed up Gaz was getting, he never dared to intervene. Sure, he possessed the ability to easily put the lieutenant to sleep, but he never dreamed of using his abilities on Ghost. He knew Ghost had been betrayed by people he trusted, had been hurt in horrible ways by those very people, and Gaz never wanted to be the same. He stayed back, kept his distance and waited for Soap to get back so he could convince the human that he still very much needs to sleep.
What Gaz was not expecting was for Ghost to approach him on the sixth night of Soap's absence. He was not expecting Ghost to ask to speak to him, and so Gaz maintained a bit of distance between himself and Ghost as he was led down the halls to a location he didn't expect to be taken to. Gaz's eyes widened as he realized they were just down the hall from Ghost's private quarters that he and Soap shared. Soap's room was filled with exposed wires, far too dangerous for a human, and was often referred to as his recharge station. So it was safe to say Gaz was a bit nervous when he realized where Ghost was taking him.
"You alright, mate?" He asked as he gently bumped Ghost's shoulder with his nose. Ghost grunted before he opened his door and practically shoved the siren inside.
"Hey, whoa-" Gaz started as he turned to face Ghost again, but he didn't get to finish his statement as Ghost closed the door a bit forcefully.
"Sing me to sleep." Ghost said, and Gaz finally understood what Soap meant by blue-screening. Gaz had never been so thrown off guard before, and he couldn't think of a proper response other than awkward stuttering.
"Sing. Me. To. Sleep." Ghost forced out, and Gaz closed his mouth, hesitancy clear. Ghost seemed to notice, however, as his shoulders suddenly sagged and he now appeared as tired as he was. Ghost reached up and pulled off his mask, the lack of it making him look rather distraught.
"Please." He added with a whisper, and the soft sound hit Gaz harder than he expected it to. He had never seen Ghost so... vulnerable before, and it was a strange experience. Gaz let out a sigh as he stepped closer to Ghost, placing his hands on his shoulders where they meet his neck.
"Thank you for trusting me." Gaz whispered as Ghost's tired eyes found Gaz's. The man nodded, quickly avoiding eye contact.
"Like it's hard." Ghost mumbled back, and Gaz forced back the scoff. He knew what Ghost meant; that Gaz is easy to trust and that has nothing to do with his being a Siren. But Gaz knew. Gaz knew that humans never trusted Sirens, never have and probably never will. But of course, Ghost noticed Gaz's internal conflict as his gaze suddenly darkened.
"My trust in you has nothing to do with you being a siren, Gaz. I trust you because you're loyal, you're intelligent, and kind, and a bit of an ass. I trust you because you're trustworthy. Nothing you can do will change the fact I trust you. Understood?" Ghost said strongly, his eyes narrowed down at Gaz as he spoke. Gaz took a deep breath before nodding.
"Understood."
"Gaz." Ghost clearly wasn't convinced. Gaz shrugged, trying to ignore the knot in his throat.
"I just don't want you getting hurt cause of my voice." Gaz whispered as he stared down at his feet. He didn't even look up when he saw Ghost's covered feet step into view.
"I wouldn't ask you to put me to sleep with your voice if I didn't trust it, now would I?" Ghost whispered back, and Gaz took another shaky breath. Ghost was right; if his voice was a problem, he never would have asked for this.
"Okay. But I'm not singing, that's stupid." Gaz said before he turned and headed towards Ghost's bed. He grunted as Ghost suddenly collapsed on top of him, but he didn't mind. Gaz did shift a bit so Ghost was more against his side than directly on top, but made sure Ghost knew he was comfortable. Several minutes passed as Gaz quietly hummed and scratched Ghost's head, and after a certain point, Gaz was confident the lieutenant had fallen asleep.
"Hey, Gaz?" And he's still awake. Was Ghost really this bad at sleeping or is Gaz really that bad at humming a fucking lullaby?
"Yeah?" Gaz decided not to bring up the fact Ghost was still awake, mostly for his own sanity.
"You remember the day Soap asked me out?" Ghost asked, and Gaz relaxed a bit at hearing the sleep already clinging to the man's voice.
"Yes?" Gaz answered, suddenly unsure of where Ghost could be going with this.
"I heard you two talking. About me. Johnny already knows." Oh. That was definitely not the confession Gaz expected, but he also wasn't confident the man was about to spill his guts and confess his love for Gaz. He remained quiet as Ghost snuggled closer to Gaz, his nose tucked safely into the crook of Gaz's neck.
"We shoulda said something sooner. We kinda like ya." Ghost mumbled, and before Gaz could finish processing the statement, the former was already snoring softly. Gaz let out a soft gasp as he hugged Ghost a bit tighter, taking a moment to rub his nose into the soft blond hair of Ghost's head.
"I figured." Gaz whispered before relaxing into the pillows and falling asleep with Ghost.
~~~~~
Soap needed a recharge by the time he and Price got back. His first stop was his own quarters, where he spent half an hour idly chewing on an exposed wire. It was still rather early for Ghost to be awake, and seeing as Soap didn't really need to sleep, he didn't want to disturb the human. Especially considering he'd have to deal with said human's temper the rest of the day.
Once he decided he could get away with accidentally waking Ghost and not have it lead to dealing with a grumpy man, Soap left his room. It was a short walk down a few halls before he reached the lieutenant's room. He opened the door as quietly as possible, but nearly let all the effort into sneaking around go to waste.
He managed to stop himself before gasping loudly upon seeing Ghost curled into Gaz's side, both deeply asleep. Soap smiled and fought down his excitement as he moved closer to the bed.
"Sh, go back teh sleep, Dove." Soap whispered as Gaz opened his eyes and began to stir a bit. The siren slowly blinked at him before nodding.
"Does this mean I can stay?" Gaz mumbled, and despite the simple question, Soap understood it to apply to their relationship. Soap let out a small chuckle as he kissed Gaz's nose, earning a sleepy smile.
"Of course. We'd be lost without you." Soap mumbled before placing another kiss on Gaz's nose and one on Ghost's temple. He crammed himself into the small space between Ghost and the wall, perfectly content to lie there the whole day.
No one needed to know Ghost had been awake for the whole thing. He was living a life he never thought, never dared to dream of having.
Safe, content, and so effortlessly loved between the two most incredible, handsome men he's ever known.
To whom it may concern. Hi I'm Tobi I used to be your classic best costumer. Unfortunately I found myself expelled from your casino with a thing It hard to believe it coz to my expel 3:30am I went to the toilet and only took my shirt and with a wet paper I whipped a week without a room at the casino, which they suddenly deny me and ros room rate $ 70 a night, my security deposit to $140 basically they aimed to get rid of me in all costs.
But my real story begins 2 and a half years ago 7:00am when I came to play next to the round bar at the games that are similar to the lighting games and they also connected to a jackpot. At the time I came it set on $ 94k. I insert $100 bill and fix to 5 cent denomination and started playing. On the third roll suddenly I see first ball that came was super grand jackpot and 5 other that I do not recall their prices , all together came to 6, and It went to the bonus round. Before I'll tell you what happened, i wish to take you few days before. The day when calculated my losses, I have realized that I lost over $100k. in periocular 75-80%- of the time I spent in the hard rock casino, so I started to check why is that I only losing so as I check and pay attention to people that are getting hand pay I realize that many of those and Changed the denomination 2c 5c 10c etc. I then went and try the new thing and believe it or not I hit the major ( green) two times. I was so thrilled. At evening came, i was looking to play the lighting again when I felt someone is following me. I immediately left my game came to him and said: sir why are you following me? He immediately said: no sir I don't, sorry. He raised his hand and immediately call the waitress that walked by, and told me do you need anything? I replied: no sir thanks and went back to my machine where I was playing. Few minutes I saw someone peeping from the left and kind of hide behind a peer. I stopped again playing and walked over this peer where I saw this tall black guy and behind him the one that was following at first time. Again I asked: sir why are you following me what's wrong? The Black guy look back at the first guy that gave him a yes sign, and this tall black guy then said: (I quote him word to words) sir we want you to loose your money and get the fuck out of here. Well he didn't have to say it in such a bad words I'm fully understand the basic and I'm even agreed with the basic but I was already more then $100k minus and being in Atlantic city was some what the most great thing that I have experience even after I lost so much. Yet I had really great time. Day after the incident an outside investigator came and interview me for few hours. I have told him that the one that following me is a gentleman that used to stand next to the waitresses peer and I believe he was the head in charge of them waitresses. After, there was no longer someone that followed me on the floor.
Three day later at 7:00am I left my suite and came down walk to the area next to the round bar and set on one of the machine in the middle of the area that all was connected with a jackpot that set on $94k +- as I said I changed the denomination to 5 cent insert $100 and started playing on the third roll the first ball that fall was super grand jackpot the color and the shape lead me to the jackpot with this came another 5 other to make it 6 all together to the bonus round of course I was eiger to take a photo but as usual I respected the rules of no photos and in my mind I was 100% trusted the institute as to my win and my security 100% tbh I even didn't care for the bonus round that ends after short while. Then I look up and as the show display begins quickly it ceased and $1000 as my wins wait I checked the denomination it showed 1c now wait I said to myself since there was no one at the floor next to the round bar, I have been by myself. I immediately called the technician, she came, open the machine and said something like it can't recall past. I remember, I said what, raised my voice since I was upset. She then called using her radio and few after two guys with suits came (Italian looking guys one was older, a bit bald and the other was younger) I sure remember the old ones that did all the talking. I explained to him and asked him to check it by the many cameras that was stationed on top. He looked at me and said: we do not check this thing on camera. Wait. I'm confused I replied if I would have stolen from you or anyone on the floor you would immediately used you camera to detect the crime but if the fault conserning you then you're lacking to check that important issues. They immediately held me and threaten to kick me out for my behavior and I apologize but I was so upset of the bad interaction with this two suits Italian looking guys specially the elder one. ( Look at the time I was sure that I got only $1000 coz the denomination was 1c but I was 100% remember that I have set it on the 5c and that was the argument but as I took time to read and understand the game rules, that this game was nothing to do with the 1c or 2c or 5c even if you set it on any denomination if the ball that said in words and it's color that's the price of the jackpot you need to get as long as it fall with 5 other to make it 6 or more to get the price indicate at the top which was the big one super grand jackpot.
Few days after I left the casino and Atlantic city NJ sad I have lost faith with all the system for 2and a half years I didn't even came close to gambling untill February 7 when I decided to give it one more shot. I came back to a place I always love care and felt like home. Well they didn't like me I guess. Btw one night I saw that old man playing the luxury line slot machines, i immediately approach him and said: hey do you remember me? He looked at me and it was obvious he was drunk and then I said: I'm the one you denied the jackpot back then. He then said oh your the bad dude. Why bad I said immediately I really felt offended no I'm jocking he then said. I do not believe he is working on the casino floor coz it was the last time I have saw him. I just wish to say that from then I slowly experience my wild card been downgrade from yellow to grey and slowly my ability to get room untill they expelled me when my phone galaxy note 20 was left behind in the casino. Here I'm guys, walking in the streets of Atlantic city without my world my phone that each time I'm calling and begging for it they laughing and hanging the conversation. I'm crying in the streets of Atlantic city something I'm even find myself walking in the streets without roof to my head hangry it's already few weeks that by all description my phone is in their possession, but some how they made my life miserable. I wish to end by telling one more important things I came to be in hard rock casino on November 2020 and also mid of January 2021 coz I had a lot of issues with my own family that made all to make my life hard and by all means not to let me built my life after horrible divorce I have been through follow by hurting with any relationship I have made after divorce she and my youngest cousin had a long years afair in which she help him to steal millions from a very successful business I owned while he was my manager also my second child 17 yo is their fruit ,,, i discover it just recently. and they are the one to send
after me a gangs 24/7 just to drives me crazy. So staying at your facility was a safe heaven for me and that why I also spent so much money I have no regrets for that, it was the list I can do. Now when those gangs managed to influence your team that find a horrible way to kick me out. I came to be in the streets while my family that hunted me for years was in the front stage now playing with my money family that send me my money only if I listen to their demands trying to brain washed me. If I just apposed their rules they immediately was blocked me for one or two days without sending me money (again story without any sense of reasons. Guys I'll end now by saying that this event to kick me out was orccasterated not only by your stuff members insider but by group of gangs from Philadelphia that was paved the way that led to my expel. After all the expel came after my re then a week without room and sleep although I'm making room reservation but each time one of the front desk manager was to give the poison pill if raised the room rate to $70 a night and the deposit $140. I found myself for so many days with the same clothes can't sleep, untill I let myself AT 3:30 am ( not on rash time) to refresh myself at the rephrasing room only shirt out no one was there, i took peper then wet it a little and refreshed my self when this yellow shirt horrible guy that hate his work so much but love the strange assiment to follow my steps untill i enter the toilet and he came right after saw me with wet paper go over my skin that didn't see shower for nearly a week long without any remorse to inhumane he took his phone a shoot few pictures to declare luring and I say is this the way the greatest hardrock that holds glorious past from Woodstock to Wembley hides a Dark shadow that roam the casino floor and monitors as the guest the jackpot and it's a fact that they seek for the same money each and every guest seek money as no defense in the eyes of the insiders it's even easier. for that next time I'll explain the shade inside and hidden?
And much applause
