“I’m sorry. I’m drunk. Ignore me, I’m not acting like myself.”

“You’re terrible.” Gideon repeats, smacking his palm flat against Rodaine’s chest just to touch more skin. “In front of a cloistered man nonetheless.”

“I wouldn’t. Then he might tell me what you say about me when I’m not around. And I can hardly handle what you say when I am.”

"If I could stay at your side, I would. I would never leave it."

“I’m scared. I’m so scared.”

“I would retrieve it for you but I’m afraid I’ll come across something ghastly or perhaps things aren’t fully, um, taken care of. Not that I doubt your abilities. But truly it would be no bother if you wanted to come and look. With me.” A pause. “Or not. You don’t have to.”

"I can't be just your friend and your... bedmate. I can't. Please don't ask that of me. I-" He breathes a shaky breath, still gripping Rodaine tight. "Can't be only your friend and... bear to see you every day."

"Why am I here? You pulled me from my friends, my work, my position in the Circle for what? I can't wait around until you decide you forgive me. Or if I can, I can at least do it from a distance that doesn't hurt so much."

“You will be the first person I tell if I get a mortal papercut or maybe roll my ankle gathering herbs.”

"Personally never go near the thing myself, I'm as chaste as a cloistered sister."

You should see my room. You would hate it. I have a whole corner for prayer and I’ve discovered my grimoire is perfect for pressing flowers.”

“Fine. I go to the Chantry on Tuesday evenings, but I’m free after. You can help me then.” He moves to leave but stops himself. “Don’t bring Jowan.”

“I’m not afraid!” He is, he’s terrified. It would be slightly more convincing if he wasn’t breathing like he’d just run a race. “I just- I want it gone. I want it gone. I’m so confused. I don’t know what to think, so many different… voices in my head saying opposite things.” “If I lived in a grand estate in Amaranthine, I’d at least have silk sheets.” Gideon grins, nudging him with a shoulder. “Oh and a thick Antivan carpet and fennec furs.” He adds dreamily. He looks back at Rodaine. “I bet I can picture your room clearly. Immaculate and barren and austere and full of books.”

Grant Hawke this one was hard, i haven't written enough of him interacting with friends lmao, i promise he is not a hardass all the time

“You shouldn’t have run up to them like that.” Hawke reprimands. “What were you bloody thinking? I could have handled it.” "I'm not losing any more money and I'm not losing the shirt off my back. What does that leave me?" “I have questions about your maps, Warden.”

Throw in some reference to bacchanal blood-drinking feasts and the fashionability of the Undead and even the chirurgeons will struggle to mend him.” "I will endeavor to compliment you less until you can properly receive my attentions," Cyril teases. “I can make something that may relieve it a little. Help you rest. Unless you’d prefer your method of suffering in silence?” “Apologies. I did not mean to condescend. It is simply… charming, and I am not one to speak, my instructors abhorred reading my assignments.”

Gideon lies a lot to himself, he is very much a 'this is the way the world has to be' type of person because if it can be different, how can he justify the things he's experienced. He expected his life to turn out differently before his magic manifested and he ended up in the Circle, he still remains a strict adherent to the Andrastian faith, a staunch supporter of the Circles, and a believer in the Templar Order.

He is outwardly pleasantly complacent with his lot in life, but it hides a very tumultuous inner experience.

barbarian: What makes your muse angry? How do they manage their anger? Has their rage ever led them to destroy something important?

For Valztefein: I feel like he is a bit of an angry person lol he is no stranger to a sneer or a look of contempt. And his coping mechanisms are… hm not the best. Back in the Underdark he was a sort of dueling entertainer, fighting (often to injury or worse) opponents for a crowd of onlookers. Which was a decent way to vent his anger.

He abandoned his family when he committed himself to clawing his way up the ranks of drow society, which I feel was a result of bitter anger at his lot in life. No longer has contact with anyone, the only family he has are his Patroness and their daughter (neither of which he is on good terms with)

He’s not all Anger though, he’s got a brash sense of humor and a pride in himself. Arrogant smiles all around lol

wizard: What is your muse like as a student? Do they have the patience for studying? What do they like learning about? What do they most want to know?

GIDEON IS THE WORST STUDENT LMAO. I mean, if it’s something like religion or herbalism, he is very curious and committed to learning. But for magic… it’s another story. His and Rodaine’s relationship began bc he was in need of a magic tutor and yet studying magic was so stressful, he instead turned to seducing his teacher so he could get out of it.

His grimoire is mostly used to press flowers. Otherwise it’s full of doodles and half written notes. He has a lot of avoidance around magic particularly because he is still pretty ashamed of it. Healing is easier than combative techniques. But overall, he was actually nearly a candidate for being made Tranquil. It was only interception by his mentor (Lydia) that prevented that outcome, since his parents were also on the side of having him undergo the Rite of Tranquility

Six Sentence Sunday

I’ve killed my brother many times.

This time, the boy has a head of blond curls and wide eyes and he looks into the pool of lyrium with so much fear. Like that time Gideon had climbed a tree and gotten stuck, staring down at Sarian, clinging to the bark with trembling hands while he figured out the best way to bring him down.

Blond curls and wide eyes.

Except, his brother doesn’t look like that anymore. He��s tall – almost as tall as himself now – and his hair is long golden waves, always neatly tied back whenever he’s run into him at Ostwick. He’s pleasant smiles and eager helpfulness and a million facts about Andraste and no mention of magic.

He’s not the boy staring into the lyrium font.

But he could be. He was once.
