as much as i subscribe to the theory that andraste was a mage and the chantry just erased it, the same way they did with ameridan, i want to expand on it with two theories that have no real foothold in canon, i just think they'd be neat:
andraste was possessed by a spirit of faith and by trying to recreate it the seekers discovered the rite of tranquility
andraste wasn't even human, she was a spirit who took shape of a human same way cole did, when the human andraste died before the whole maker thing even started
it would be interesting if the spirit!andraste was actually brought back in the fade by the collective faith of her followers and she was the spirit of faith that was touching minds of the seekers during their vigils. tho i also can't see her being happy about the bs the chantry is now doing in her name, so maybe not that. she'd be like, wait a moment, where's the canticle of my best buddy shartan?

You know Andraste's old mabari. He don't show up in the Chant. And if you ask those holy sisters, Well, they'll say Andraste can't Have had some big old smelly wardog. But all Ferelden knows it right: Our sweet Lady needed someone Who would warm her feet at night.

I love Meredith’s Andraste complex and I think it’s especially fun when paired with a Hawke who keeps usurping her position in moments of religious embolism. I think it would do really well narratively to sort of indicate how the chantry has strayed from the path of good and righteousness by having this literal representative of the might and reach of the chantry be in constant direct opposition to your actions (at least when you’re pro-mage) but then at the crescendo of each minor conflict, it’s Hawke who is sort of takes the place of the Andraste voice piece or figure. Additionally though, just character wise specifically for Meredith - I just imagine a roaring end to Act II where Meredith is marching up to the keep ready to take up the role of Andraste-figure-savior-protector and opening the doors to a Hawke already engaged with the enemy and being run through by his blade. Believing that she is about to affirm her inhabitance of this sort of Andraste-esque idolatry only to open the doors and find out that not only has she been denied, she’s late to the party - Andraste was already thrown on the pyre and Hessarian is cutting her down. And there is not even the cold comfort of a revisionist history or her being able to bury the moment deeper than anyone can find, because Act III? It’s what would have happened if Andraste had stepped down from her pyre and away from the sword afterwards. It’s an abomination, it’s heretical, it’s her obsession. (It’s everything she wanted to be.)

There’s something shady going on with the Chantry, guys...
...apart from the endless abuses of the rights of mages/elves/states’ sovereignty, I mean. I am currently working on the textures of the Inquisition Chantry robes for a mod, and I couldn’t help notice this decoration on the cleric robes looks and how suspiciously like “Moonhead” from the DA:D teaser images it looks:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s not just the obvious crest, but even stylised tentacles. And after the latest mural it is a given that Moonhead is an Old God... one of those gods that Andraste was allegedly waging her war against?! So why is THAT on the uniform of the faith she started?
Tumblr media
And then, when I was looking for a picture of the statue on the right, Google showed me this, and now I’m just screaming:
Tumblr media
What the actual fuuck?! This isn’t really a theory tbh, just me going slightly insane at possible implications of this...
WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK?
...
And that’s not even getting into how the sun burst is the Chantry’s own symbol but there’s again an Old God who also has it as theirs?
Tumblr media
Or whatever this is supposed to mean, idk:
Tumblr media
What does it all mean?????
I wanna hear people’s theories - please! Make it make sense!

"Maferath, pare che sono santa!"
Some italian shitposting, forgive me for I haveth sinneth. There's this italian comedian that made a fake trailer once about a man who became a saint very abruptly. The man who got saddled with holiness. And well, @salsedinepicta came and made the reference to me, and I couldn't resist. Why finishing one piece if you can spend too much effort painting a meme.
She's saying: "But what if you repent about it??" (and the title "Maferath, it looks like I'm a saint!")
Ref under the cut.

Tiddies allowed again? In THIS economy? Have my tumblr celebration post of the content changes with a redraw of an old Andraste illustration.
“And thus fell the eye of the Maker upon Andraste, she who would be raised up from the outcasts to become His bride. From her lips would fall the Chant of Light, at her command would the legions of righteousness fall upon the world.”

Hello and welcome to the third segment of what I believe random herbs and objects in the Dragon age universe taste like! Feel free to leave suggestions and comments.
The Wilds Flower - Somwhat soft and sweet. The petals probably have very little flavor, but the center would taste like purple clover necter. It smells floral and delicate, common picking for a stroll in the forest. However, it's much better suited for tinctures and tonics, and is one of the safer options when treating pets, like Mabari. Too much consumption could probably lead to numbness of the tongue and throat, and is often given to sick children to help with oral pains of loose teeth or raw and scratchy throat from being ill.
Mabari crunch - Much like a tea biscuit, but far more dense and crumbly. Probably salty and savory as well, mixed with animal fat and various spices to cut the taste of the elf root and deep mushroom the dog treats are made with. A rather strong taste for most people, but your barkspawn will certainly enjoy it. Fresh breath and a shiny coat are almost a given if you consume one of these.
Andraste's Grace - Bitter and floral. You won't taste any sweetness from these little blossoms, despite their enchanting aroma. They're probably slightly toxic, and taste like when you dry swallow pills and chase it with unsweetened tea. OR they might be edible, like daylilies, and have a more muted sweetness to mingle with the bitterness, they'd likely be served battered and fried like dandelion heads or Daylily blossoms.
