Hoje foi um dia repleto de marcos na história dos Estados Unidos, Donald Trump não ter sido reeleito é uma grande conquista, espero que os brasileiros façam o mesmo com Jair Bolsonaro ano que vem. Enfim, o verdadeiro propósito desse post é mostrar o quão difícil é lutar pelo que se acredita. Ao longo da trajetória desde que a segui, Demi Lovato usa sua voz para algo além do canto, ela é porta-voz de assuntos nos quais ainda existem muitos tabus, como por exemplo saúde mental, sua maior luta desde que me tornei sua fã. E na medida em que recebe apoio e é parabenizada pela coragem, recebe críticas e ódio. Nas últimas eleições americanas, não foi diferente. Assisti uma das minhas grandes inspirações lutar pelo que acredita, pelo que eu acredito e ainda por cima receber ódio gratuito em abundância. Porém, hoje ela se apresentou no "Celebrating America", em comemoração à posse do 46º Presidente dos Estados Unidos, Joe Biden. O que isso tem a ver com tudo que escrevi até agora? Tudo, lutar pelo que você acredita às vezes é exaustivo, mas chega a um ponto em que a luta vale a pena. Demi expressou o que sentiu da maneira que considerou mais adequada, levou ódio gratuito, mas foi convidada a usar sua voz em um dos dias mais importantes da história de seu país. Portanto, caro leitor, aconselho você a não desistir de sua luta, obviamente, somente se essa luta valorizar um mundo mais igualitário e com menos sofrimento, caso contrário, jogue sua luta no lixo.

I had a lot of fun taking 📷 of The Chris Mulkey band at the #SantaMonicaCollege last night with 1000 others. They were a pretty good group of friends on stage and they got people to 💃 together. YSEALI Alumni Story: Lismawati Lapasi - Indonesia

“I was born and raised in Gorontalo, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. I’m passionate about English teaching, environmental education and international education. During my undergraduate, I started teaching English for young learners at different local NGOs and volunteered at Adudu Nantu International Foundation, where I incorporated English and environmental education to help raise awareness of the rural community about rainforest conservation.

My journey with YSEALI started back in 2015, but its impact continues to inspire me until today. YSEALI Earth was my first YSEALI regional workshop and it was a life-changing experience. Through YSEALI Earth, I was awarded an internship on environmental advocacy at Emerald Planet International Foundation, where I worked as an e-marketing and TV production assistant in the U.S.

My passion for international education grew through my YSEALI internship in the U.S. When I delivered a presentation about Indonesian culture at International Education Week in Washington, D.C, I witnessed how international education could be a bridge for exchanging knowledge and experiences, broaden perspectives and build understanding and connections amongst people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. So, I made a promise to myself that one day I would make my way back to the U.S. and pursue my master’s in international education.

While preparing for my master’s application, I joined @accessindonesia by @reloarchipelago to teach English to Gorontalonese underprivileged students. I also expanded my experience in international education through @260by26 – a youth-led organization committed to educational equity and social innovation and @ungirlseducation to advance gender equality in and through education.

I made it back to the U.S. less than five years later through the Fulbright program . I am currently pursuing my master’s degree at the University of Central Florida @ucf.edu. Once I complete my degree, I hope that I can help the government provide access to quality education for every child in Indonesia, especially in the rural areas.” #YSEALIAlumniStory #CelebratingAmerica🇺🇸
