1998's Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island and 2019's Scooby-Doo Return to Zombie Island will be released on Blu-ray together as a Hanna-Barbera double feature on May 7 via Warner Archive.

Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island is directed by Jim Stenstrum (Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost) and written by Glenn Leopold (The Prowler). Frank Welker, Billy West, Mary Kay Bergman, B.J. Ward, Scott Innes, Adrienne Barbeau, Jim Cummings, and Mark Hamill star.

Scooby-Doo Return to Zombie Island is directed by Cecilia Aranovich (Harley Quinn) and Ethan Spaulding (Avatar: The Last Airbender) and written by Jeremy Adams (Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge). Frank Welker, Grey Griffin, Matthew Lillard, and Kate Micucci star, with an appearance by Cassandra Peterson as Elvira.

Both films are housed on one disc. No special features are included.

In Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, and Fred reunite and head to a haunted bayou island to investigate the ghost of Moonscar the Pirate. But it turns out the swashbuckler's spirit isn't the only creepy character on the island. The sleuths also meet up with cat creatures and zombies…and it looks like for the first time in their lives these ghouls might actually be real. In Scooby-Doo Return to Zombie Island, Scooby, Shaggy and the Mystery Inc. gang win a vacation of a lifetime at Monster Island Resort. Velma, Daphne and Fred can't help but notice how strangely familiar the surroundings are there. The gang soon finds that paradise has a price as they encounter an army of zombies and creepy cat people.

Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios

En una época contemporánea donde los "cirujanos" estéticos de las actrices famosas se revelan cada vez más como siniestros e inescrupulosos, una película como No me rompan (Azul Lombardía, 2023) adquiere un cariz de actualidad que, quizás inesperadamente, complementa sus numerosas cualidades para el humor y el absurdo. Cubierta por un elenco de varias figuras (protagonizan Carla Peterson y Julieta Díaz, pero hay participaciones, entre otros, de Fito Páez, Nancy Duplaá, Cecilia Dopazo y Esteban Lamothe), la película, lejos de dictar una bajada de línea explícita sobre los mandatos estéticos, domésticos y laborales que atraviesan y aún pesan sobre las mujeres, opta por reflejarlos y exponerlos ingeniosamente desde la gracia y la comicidad, transitando así una idea clara pero sin subrayarla, declamarla o volverla la cuestión excluyente de su relato. Comedia de mujeres que estallan, No me rompan entretiene desde fórmulas clásicas (enredos, heroínas, villanos), pero también desde una sensibilidad muy disfrutable y poco común en el medio local para lo bizarro, lo ridículo o hasta lo grotesco que por momentos evoca las mejores comedias de Almodóvar (incluso, hubiesen sido bienvenidas más escenas de esta índole sobrepasando las más trilladas).

Pero no sólo el mundo de la estética será parodiado y cuestionado en el film, sino también el universo del espectáculo con su mirada machista y sus exigencias incesantes para las actrices. En ese sentido, la actuación de Peterson es sensacional en tanto, desde lo caricaturesco, pone en evidencia las sombras de su propio ambiente y de sus lógicas del éxito. Grácil, disfrutable y con un carácter propio, No me rompan recuerda que las ideas críticas también pueden transmitirse, circular y filmarse más allá de la solemnidad o de la necesidad de moralejas. Una actitud arriesgada y desprejuiciada que resulta muy agradable.

Ideal romantic relationship

WEEK 1 Assignment: Getting Your Research Project Started

After looking through the codebook for the AddHealth study, I have found that there is a lot of data for studying adolescents and their parent's relationships. I have decided to analyze adolescent’s description of ideal romantic relationship and try to find out if there is a relationship between this description and parents’ attitudes. This quick study of codebook encouraged me to formulate my research question: Is adolescents' description of romantic relationships associated with parents’ attitudes towards their child's sexual activity?

It might happen that I will not use all of variables I have added to my personal codebook, but at this stage I think it would be better to have a little bit more variables just in case I come up with new ideas. My code book includes these variables:

variables reflecting parents’ approval or disapproval of child's sexual activities (two perspectives: mother's and father's);

variables related with ideal romantic relationship and how adolescents describe it (more sex related or romantic / platonic);

variables related to child relationship with parents, communication with them;

Most people agree that parents are main source of sex education or at least they are primarily responsible for it, so my literature review started with a search for articles on parent-child communication about sexuality, sexual behavior, decision making during adolescence and its possible influence on adolescence behavior.

Elena Jerves and her research partners say that researchers pay more and more attention to this topic: “This growing interest stems from recognition of the influence that parental attitudes may have both on young people's sexual attitudes and behaviour, and on school-based sex education. Studies regarding parental attitudes towards sexuality are, however, still rare.”[1]

The second article says that “The assertion that parental communication and monitoring of adolescent children will discourage premarital sexual activity is examined among white 15- and 16-year-olds interviewed in the 1981 National Survey of Children. Analysis indicate little support for this hypothesis.”[2]

And the last article is more specific and talks about mother-child relations. In this article it says that if children have more close relations with their mother more likely they hold her attitudes and “behave in a manner consistent with their mother's own attitudes”.[3]

These articles suggest that parents' communication with their children and parents' attitudes to specific topics might influence adolescents' attitudes. In my research case, it might influence adolescents’ description of ideal romantic relationship as well. Most articles show that adolescents’ attitudes tend to be quite like their parents’ attitudes.

This literature review led to my hypotheses that if parents tend to disapprove their children having sex at young age, tend to maintain close relationships, adolescents see ideal relationship more romantic / platonic than sex related relationship.
