the thing about sans and cecil both getting to the finals is that they're both the platonic ideal of what a tumblr sexyman is, but on opposite sides of the scales, covering the entire spectrum as a result.

on one hand you've got cecil, who is chronologically a classic. his lack of a canon appearance, his charming voice and his semi-fancy job allowed the tall white + suit twinkification phenomenon to run rampant. as the series progressed, he was actually revealed to be more of a babygirl (eat your heart out, arataka). he was drawn with tentacles. and he was sexy, sure, but the amount of porn generated for him was overall pretty standard.

sans, on the other hand, is a complete outcast in the classical definition of sexyman. he's chubby, short, charismatic not like an evil villain, but like some random guy with the local bar wrapped around his finger, constantly dressed casual. sure, there were white haired anime boy gijinkas, but that's not who people were here for, right? they wanted to jump his bones (literally) as he was. despite (or maybe because of...?) all this, the mind boggling amount of porn that resulted from him is a still gaping wound in the internet to this day. oh and he also got the tentacle treatment.

perfectly balanced. polar opposites. there isn't really a better candidate here. as far as I'm concerned, they both won tonight. but at least sans can finally break his curse. who knows! maybe we kill someone this time too.

is now a time to mention my FFIV headcanon that Cecil would look twenty years older if he grew a beard? because i think he'd look twenty years older if he grew a beard. he daydreams about it as a young man and then wanting to be distinguinshed as king and occasionally unrecognizable

the problem is the Growing part. terminal case of baby face. he thought once he found out whatever was going on with his family, why his lips are naturally blue and his hair might actually be translucent like a polar bear's, he could blame his genetics. wow I'm half-alien! but turns out his beautiful face bones come from his mom, and KluYa and FuSoYa both have impressive beard-growing ability to better hide the lipstick lips

meanwhile for Cecil, tall and broad as an airship after respeccing into Paladin and becoming a tank, when he stops shaving? nobody even realizes for a week. superfine, patchy, almost invisible down. rosa kisses him on the cheek one morning and thinks she missed and hit the blanket

Cecil wonders to himself, only half-joking, if instead of "Goodbye, brother!" he should have spent his last chance speaking to Golbez to ask "but can you grow a beard?"

Edge, also silver-haired, visits one day and takes off his veil and reveals a dignified kingly silver beard. "It's also great for sneaking into town!" and he smirks so only Cecil can see it. Cecil briefly considers throwing his crown at him but the ninja would probably just catch it like a frisbee

But that's not why I played them in the show, I played them because they are one of the bands that are featured in the fantastic Inner World 033 podcast, by the World Of Echo label, and compiled by the Famous Mammals.
