My headcanon is that Tad Strange is locally known as the least strange person in Gravity Falls because he's autistic as hell and being normal is his special interest. Not in a "feels like he has to mask perfectly" way, it's just his passion and everyone admires and respects his commitment to the bit.
When he was in high school he'd go up to his friends and go "Hello. If you aren't busy, would you mind practicing friendly small talk with me?" and now everyone's like "That Tad Strange can strike up an amiable conversation about the weather in the grocery store checkout line like he was born to do it."
He feels genuine delight at his closet full of short-sleeve button-up white shirts for the summer and long-sleeve button-up white shirts for the winter.
If he's trying out a new kind of food he asks his coworkers and neighbors "What's the most popular brand?" and they all understand he's deliberately looking for the most normal option and are happy to support his goal.
He hosts bread tasting parties. Condiments discouraged until you've tasted the unadorned bread first. Bread's a very normal food. He gets very excited about the different varieties.
He's just enchanted by the aesthetic of being hella typical. He's living his best life.

SPEAKING of tumblr sexymen. remember when it was announced cecil baldwin would cameo in an ep of gravity falls as a character named "tad strange" who was "a total square" and everyone on this site got REAL annoying about it drawing him as a literal blue square counterpart to bill cipher. and then the ep aired and tad strange was a normal dude with 2 lines

hey gravity falls fandom do you remember when the show was still airing and we found out there’d be a character named Tad Strange showing up at some point in the series. Do you remember how because we learned he was voiced by mister welcome to nightvale Cecil Baldwin that he was gonna play a demon from Bill’s dimension. Do you remember that everyone drew him as a blue square to represent him being the polar opposite of Bill himself.
Do you guys ALSO remember the time that everyone thought the star on the cipher wheel (and therefore the star on top of the tent of telepathy) was another demon from Bill’s dimension. Do you remember that everyone called him Kryptos. Do you remember the theories about Gideon teaming up with this demon Kryptos to take down the Pines family after Bill “betrayed him”. Do you remember. Do you remember how absolutely insane everyone went when Weirdmageddon Part 1 aired and we learned that there really was a demon from Bill’s dimension named Kryptos. Do you remember all the jokes about how the canon diamond-shaped Kryptos was “inferior” to the fanon star-shaped one. Do you remember? Do you remember your history?
Those were good times

OKEY, SO-
Sorry if this is a bit of a dumb question, it's just that this could never be made completely clear to me
but
Is Anti-Bill called Tad Strange in the fandom or is he just a separate character/au?
(I made fanart to not feel so much guilt for being a bad fan for not knowing NOO-)

I know I'm fighting a losing battle trying to push the Tad Strange/Kryptos propaganda, but darn it if I'm going to try anyway in the worst ways possible.
