So I headcanon that Tugger doesn’t like cuddles or casual intimacy as a rule. But, as with all rules, there are exceptions. And for these exceptions, he cannot get enough contact from these people, constantly going up to them and flopping on them and being extra cozy. But he is in complete denial of this behavior because he has a reputation to uphold. He is absolutely not cuddling, he doesn’t cuddle, what are you talking about [Is so twisted around Misto you can’t tell where one cat starts and the other one ends].

Day 4: favorite headcanons. Of course my favorite has to be the one most personal to me. Misto being autistic and selectively mute, this is a really special one to me and something I love drawing and writing into the character. I find him very relatable and I like to make him even more so to me.

I love the stimming he does like scratching at his ear when he's uncomfortable with Jennys high note, getting confused and awkward in social settings when he doesn't realise Munk is singing about Jenny not him, chasing Bustophers tail, not doing any singing at all during his song (in my mind because he's focused so much on his magic that it's all too much for him to speak), going full force with the hug with Deut when he's so excited but then wanting some space when everyone crowds around him.

I could go on and on, I love him so much and he means a lot to me because of this, even though its only a headcanon.

In his den Mefistofeliks has a little stash of things that remind him of his human and of cats he's close with. It started when he was still a kitten because of his human and there's only a few cats who know this stash of mementos even exists.

The inspiration for it was his human, Erik, who made a little baby album of a sort after he adopted Feliks, and over the years has been adding pictures and other things such as his paw prints etc. So wanting to do the same Feliks stole a few of the printed pictures and scraps of paper with Erik's handwriting (the closest thing he could find as his human's paw print) and stashed them in his den at the studio. Over the years said stash grew, he kept stealing a picture or a note here and there, and few pieces of Erik's clothing including one of his favourite pairs of socks. He also got there his latest collar that he wore only once to please Erik. He doesn't like wearing it, but he still very much likes to have it (he knows Erik saved the very first collar he got for Feliks, tiny kitten one that also was worn only once).

Besides his human's things he has lots of mementos of other cats. Most weren't exactly gifts but more of a "oh you can keep it if you want" type of thing, but Ram Ram Tamek and Kasandra, who both knew about it for years have both gifted him things and would sometimes tell other cats that hey this specific thing you dont want to anymore, Mefistofeliks may want it. Eventually two more cats would learn about it, both by accident, said cats being Bombalurina and Munkustrap.

From Tam he's got a little round mirror, a scrap of an old blanket they often used to share as kittens and a photo of the two of them Tam stole from Erik (Tam may tease him a bit for being sentimental, but he still helps with getting the things, and he saved the other piece of that blanket and another copy of that photo too).

From Kasandra he's got two of her bracelets, a broken silver one he saved from when they first got together, and she didn't know about the stash yet (he gifted her a different one then), and a golden bangle with little stones she gave him when they finally and for good sorted their relationship out and went from partners to being just friends.

From his daughter, Wiktoria, he's got a piece of cardboard with her paw prints on it and red and black marble from a little stash of them she found in some forgotten corner of the studio (she saved herself a matching white one).

From his parents, he's got one of Bywalec' ascots and an old broken pair of glasses, and from Plameczka a couple of her hair rollers, plus a few feathers from her feather duster (it took a time to get those things to save, he doesn't see his parents as often anymore)

From Misto a long piece of the glittery rainbow he used in his tricks, from when it accidentally ripped one day and a few playing cards from his favourite, although very much no longer complete deck (Feliks wasn't the only one to receive cards from his cousin, few went to Tugger and Victoria as well).

From Victoria a gem that fell off her collar and a pink ribbon bow she made once for him so the 3 of them could match as family (Misto saved the one she made for him too).

From Bomba he's got her hair clip sometime after they become friends. It was an old one, with a broken clip part (she let him have it after he helped her find a replacement).

From Demeter he's got a silver and gold handkerchief which was bit of an "I'm sorry" note after she accidentally messed up his arm (he wore it over the bandages when it was still healing)

From Munkustrap he's got feathers, saved from every catch Munk would share with him all the times Feliks would visit his cousins at the Junkyard. Munk saw the arrangement Feliks made of the feathers several times when visiting before he realised they were from birds caught by him. It took for a very specific feather to appear there for him to catch on (Munk has saved all the flowers Feliks has ever conjured up for him too, took him one catnip fuelled visit to his den to learn that). Later, one of scarves Munk had in his den, a brilliant blue one, made it's way over to Feliks' (Feliks may or may not have said it reminded him of Munk the most of all things Munk's got and that he liked how soft it was)

Cats HC time!!

ALL the jellicle cats have some sort of innate magic, although majority have very weak powers and abilities, to the point all majority can't rlly do is just have a connection to eachother in a way, like a big string connecting them that non jellicles just can't.

But then there's cats gifted with more magical abilities then the rest, such as Misto and Macavity.

And more magically gifted cats are more likely to pass on their magic to their kittens, although all it does is highten the chance of them having a greater magical ability, it's sorta random? But not rlly--

This is an opinion of mine, but I don’t see Bombalurina as someone who represses her emotions. Instead, I see her as someone who struggles to express her emotions. This is along the line of my Autistic Bombalurina headcanons. I found that in my own experience, expressing my emotions is sometimes hard. There are only four cats I think that can actually tell the expanse of her tells are Gus the Theater Cat, Asparagus Jr., Tugger, and Demeter. Munkustrap is close but still struggles to understand her minute expressions. Rumpleteazer is up there as well, but only with supporting when she gets overwhelmed (see this post). Jemima is a lot more expressive with her emotions, though not by much (Victoria and Plato are very aware of reading her emotions besides the four other cats that can read Bomba). Basically, I personally headcanon Bomba as struggling to express her emotions. The emotions that most of the tribe does see are fondness, happiness, absolute disgust (mainly whenever Macavity is mentioned), and of course, flirty. She knows this, and as the Heir to the Theater Cat, she has received theater training from her grandfather Gus. She may not know how to express her emotions naturally, but she can force herself to express her emotions (I may be explaining this badly but I'm open to suggestions). Gus, Jr., and Bomba all have a Fool's face.

I'm just gonna put it behind keep reading because this turned out much longer than I anticipated :')

1) Who is stronger, Mistoffelees or Macavity and what kinds of magic do they specialize in?

so for who's stronger, the answer is a bit complicated: if we're talking sheer power I'd say Macavity. I think that he fuels his powers with rage and that he's pretty erratic, so in terms of power alone, he's stronger than the inexperienced Misto.

in terms of skill, I think they're kind of on the same level, because Misto's been described as inexperienced and just learning to control his powers, meanwhile I don't think Mac had anyone to learn from and had to figure out a lot by himself.

HOWEVER, Misto has one thing Mac doesn't and this is going to sound like a stupid H*rry P*tter quote but bear with me: Misto has the jellicle cats. He has the confidence, morale and numbers of someone backed by a whole community.

so, do I think that Mac would defeat Misto in a one on one power-off in a situation when it was just the two of them? sure, but I also think that Misto would NEVER end up in a situation where he'd have to face Mac alone.

what kind of magic do they specialize in? I base this mostly on what's seen in the show but I think Misto has telekinetic powers, is capable of manipulating light and lightning, and I think he's at least partially clairvoyant. as for Mac, I've seen people hc him as a hypnotist and someone who can create illusions, which is all fun but I personally prefer this idea that he can manipulate people without the use of magic. when it comes to the magic I like the idea of him being a shapeshifter, I know that in the show the Old Deut thing was just a disguise, but I think it'd be fun if he could shapeshift. I think he can also manipulate light and lightning, but that's just my vibes.

2) Who do you ship, if any, and why? Any friendships you like best?

I don't have a friendship preference I think? pretty much anyone I don't ship, I like them as friends. though I do particularly like the friendship between Victoria and Jemima.

3) How old is the oldest cat and how young is the youngest cat? Who are they?

hmm honestly I wouldn't like to speculate on the exact ages of the characters? I don't have a specific reason for it. but I will say that I think Gus is the oldest and that Jemima is the youngest.

4) Any headcanons on where the Jellicles are based? Are there any humans dropping by the junkyard to deposit stuff?

I don't have a specific place in mind! I think the beauty of Cats is that it could take place anywhere and even when I write fanfics, I like to keep it very vague as to where the characters are located.

I'm sure they encounter humans, but I think the jellicles would avoid them, especially the strays. I'm kinda conflicted on this because maybe the non-strays wouldn't want to avoid humans, like if they're used to them already? but at the same time I feel like it's a collective thing that at least while they're at the junkyard, it's a no human space.

5) Which cats are strays and which aren't?

oh I love this, so I'm not gonna list every single character, just the ones I have an opinion on:

obviously I think that Bustopher Jones isn't a stray, this one's easy.

I think Demeter and Bombalurina are strays, but there's space for Bomba not to be.

I think Grizabella may have been kicked out or otherwise lost her home.

Jemima has stray vibes, but Victoria has non-stray vibes. she actually seems pretty shielded idk.

Jennyanydots isn't a stray.

Jerrie and Teazer are strays in my eyes, despite their song referencing a family.

I think Old Deut was a stray but was taken in later in life.

Macavity is either fully a stray or as a kitten was in a home that didn't take care of him, so he either ran away or was kicked out (I really like giving my faves tragic backstories totally understandable if people disagree with this interpretation, it's literally just my vibes).

Skimble is my favorite for this question because I think he's a stray only to an extent. Skimble is a stray in the sense that he doesn't have permanent residence, but isn't in the sense that he's being taken care of by a community. he sleeps at the station and gets food more or less regularly, but like he doesn't have a home per se and he's free to go wherever he wants.

I think Munk works well as both a stray and not: if he's a stray it makes sense because he has street smarts and is very protective due to his rough life, or if not, he's nurturing due to the care he knew at his home.

I think Tugger isn't a stray and is actually beloved in his home.

again despite Mr. Mistoffelees the song referencing a house, I see Misto as a stray. at best he's a neighborhood cat, but not really like Skimble, in Misto's case he'd get food more inconsistently for example.

6) Favorite female cat? Favorite male cat? Favorite background character?

ohhhh that's tough man ummmmmmm my favorite female cat has is either Jemima or Demeter, and my favorite male cat is either Tugger, Misto or Mac. Alonzo is my favorite background character.

7) Do any of the cats have a favorite food? How do they go about getting it? Do any have a least favorite smell?

I'm not really sure about what anyone's favorite food could be and sorry to change the topic, but I have been thinking about how picky certain characters may be:

naturally it would depend on whether someone is a stray or not, but with some exceptions. I think that Tugger and Bustopher Jones are the most picky from the non-strays, but from the strays I thin Skimble would be pretty picky too cus he would be used to getting good food from the community that takes care of him. I think Misto is also a bit picky as a stray, he just knows that he doesn't have much choice so he gets over it.

I'm not really sure about their least favorite smells either...

8) What time of year does the Jellicle Ball occur? Does it coincide with any notable date or is it just a night like many others?

my personal headcanon is that the Jellicle Ball is a Midsummer celebration that takes place between the 20th and 25th June every year.

9) What happens if the weather doesn't permit a Jellicle Ball? Are there consequences?

I think the setting of the junkyard allows for the weather not to be a problem, they can always fashion some kind of cover from the rain (because in my hc it's in summer so they would pretty much only have the rain to worry about, but I guess that also depends on where they are geographically).

Plato hc’s

Demeter and Macavity are Plato’s and Jemima’s parents

During one jellicle ball Macavity and Demeter preformed the mating dance (like how Plato and Victoria) did which made Demeter pregnant

Demeter stayed with him until she was was pregnant with Jemima years later

She left with Bombalurina and rejoined the jellicle tribe

Plato has always be protective of her

Secretly he envied Jemima

She was always the favorite in even outside of their family, the whole tribe favorited Jemima

He knows that it’s not her fault and she never treated him badly which made Plato feel worse

Plato looks a lot like Macavity so almost everyone outside of his family is scared of him

He also had anger issues which he needed to learn to control at a young age

Plato was eventually excepted, which I mean ignored and kept in the background which was better than being shamed or cats cowering in fear if he even stepped in their general direction

There are a few exceptions though

He made friends and found buddies

His friends were Tugger and Coricopat

Plato’s buddies were Tumblebrutus/Bill Bailey and Pouncival/Carbucketty

Now, Plato’s best friend is George

The difference between friends and buddies to him is that friends are people you can confide and trust in. Being able to be both fun and serious with. With buddies, it’s being with people and be able to have fun and have a good time with and that’s it.

He became invisible to everyone except them and one more girl who he had a crush on since kitten hood, Victoria

29. A headcanon that breaks my heart

If Misto hadn’t become friends with Tugger, he would have fallen prey to Macavity, much like Demeter did.

Now this is based on a particular set of headcanons that I have. But, basically;

After Macavity ‘leaves’ the tribe, young Misto finds himself treated with suspicion, like a ticking time bomb. Macavity had physical magic more powerful than anyone, perhaps that’s what corrupted him? So now people murmur, ‘what if Misto turns out just like him. What if he becomes a monster?’

So Misto hides his magic, makes it less than what it is. “I can only do lights. Nothing else.”

But he still needs to use it. He feels Wrong if he doesn’t. So he practices, alone, far from the tribe.

Eventually, Macavity finds him. He convinces him that the stories about him were inventions, slander. He offers to train him, to help him.

At first, Misto refuses, terrified. But he comes back. The promise of having someone Show him how to do control his magic is too enticing.

He is a good target. Already a bit reclusive, the aftermath of Macavity has made him an outcast. He’s lonely, craving guidance, craving someone like himself. He has a good heart, and is willing to believe Macavity’s stories. He’s naive. He doesn’t understand that people lie.

Macavity shapes himself into everything Misto needs. A friend, a mentor, a companion. But at the same time, he chips away at his supports.

No one else can be trusted. “Look at how they treated me. I lost control once, and they rejected me, exiled me. And I was the honored heir. What do you think they’ll do to you?”

It isn’t hard. Misto is already painfully aware of how the others look at him. Victoria is the only person he can trust.

And then there’s an accident. An accident that he causes. And in the aftermath, he hears the whispers. “Just like Macavity.”

Misto runs. He runs to Macavity, cries that he should have listened to his warnings, that no one could be trusted. He could only trust Macavity. He begs him to take him away, So he does. Macavity spirits Misto away to his own clowder. Waiting are a pair of mischievous calico twins, a beautiful ruby haired queen, and a golden queen with anxious eyes, all ready to be his new family.

But now that he has what he wants, Macavity no longer needs to play nice.

30. Something that mends it.

But this isn’t what happens. Instead, Tugger finds Misto in the outlands, practicing his magic.

And so, he’s the one who helps Misto. He too has grown up in the shadow of Macavity. He too has a chip in his shoulder.

He becomes Misto’s friend. He admires his abilities, his talents, encourages him. Though lacking overt magic of his own, his passion and excitement give Misto confidence.

He believes in him. He fosters trust. He thinks the others will accept Misto, and if they don’t, well then he’ll make them see what he sees!

So when Old Deuteronomy is kidnapped, that’s exactly what he does. “I will show them the you that I see. I will make them see you for who you are. And you are going to show them exactly how brilliant you are. I know it.”

Munkoffelees

I know I just made the Tuggof post but like, I genuinely thought Munkoffelees was gonna win and so I prepared stuff for them beforehand so might as well post it now :)

By god this rare pair is so rare I could barely find any gifs of them I need to spread Munkoffelees agenda

Pre-realationship  

• Mistoffelees made the fatal mistake of asking Alonzo for dating advice to win over Munk, and he ends up giving him a bunch of pickup lines to use on Munkustrap as a joke. Mistoffelees thinks he’s being serious however and is hesitant but thinks it’s worth a shot Munkustrap only ever ends up being confused or finding the lines funny complementing Misto for his “tugger impression”.

• Mistoffelees doesn’t feel like he needs to fight for Munkustrap’s attention, he’s aware of how busy he is and tries to work around it by helping him out most of the time with some magical assistance.

When Mistoffelees starts to help out Munkustrap more often with daily tasks around the junkyard Demeter started calling misto “Munkustrap’s little helper”. Mistoffelees will never admit it verbally but he likes the name and Demeter probably knows it.

• Also I saw this one post about how in cats Warsaw Munkustrap keeps subtly missing misto using magic (I believe it was per-the-Jellicle-magician) and that became my favorite thing ever so, after the ball Mistoffelees isn’t even trying to hide his magic but Munkustrap never really gets to see him use it since. He always turns or gets distracted with something else at the last moment leaving Mistoffelees to grunt and mumble to himself about not being able to impress Munk with magic however the one time he was using his magic without really thinking like zapping tugger Munkustrap actually sees it. Mistoffelees still remembers how sweet Munkustraps genuine laughter was.

• Mistoffelees thinks so hard about how to impress Munkustrap that he doesn’t realize that he’s already impressed Munk enough with the subtle things he does, like entertaining the kittens, dancing his heart out or just being his slightly cheeky but kind self. Munkustrap loves it all.

Coupled stuff yay: 

• On a few rare glimpses Munkustrap can be found with small traces of glittery residue on him curtsy of mistoffelees. (Cause they cuddle together so much) Munkustrap doesn’t notice ever until someone points it out In which he gets very flustered and tries to brush it off but not too much since he does like to be reminded of Misto. 

• whenever Munkustrap has overworked himself and returns to his den tired out, Mistoffelees gives him a surprise shoulder massage whilst asking Munkustrap about his day. Sometimes Munk will fall asleep halfway through the story and misto will just give him a kiss on the cheek and bid him goodnight.

• Munkustrap just admires Mistoffelees so much, he loves it whenever him and Misto have time alone together and when Mistoffelees starts rambling on and on about his interests he does get quite lost in thought however just watching Mistoffelees.

• Mistoffelees likes to be carried around especially by Munk, when their walking back to Munks den or Misto’s humans home or just when he can find the opportunity Mistoffelees will leap into Munkustraps arms. Munk normally has a completely neutral expression on his face while on the inside his heart’s pounding out of his chest.

• Munkustrap talks in his sleep, like all the time. Mistoffelees will sometimes not even know Munk is asleep and just talk back to him. He’d only notice when he picked up on how incoherent the conversations were. 

• Munkustrap is very gentlemen like, he loves to kiss Mistoffelees on the paw or forehead. While they aren’t a very PDA couple they do like their sweet and subtle touches. Like wrapping their tails together or squeezing each others hands.

• They slow dance together, I don’t make the rules they just do. Normally munkustrap will sing him a song whilst they do with Mistoffelees quietly singing alongside him enjoying the presence and peace of each other for as long or short-lived the dance maybe it didn’t matter cause they were together.

Thoughts on 2019 Mistoffelees being Macavity’s son?

It's not one I think about much but it sounds very interesting. Especially with them both being the only magical cats in the movie. Like maybe Macavity abandoned his so for not bring good enough with his magic. Misto having to find a new home with the Jellicles and finding it hard to fit in. But also being afraid for a while to use any magic because of his memories of his dad. Maybe he didn't tell the others who his dad is 🤔

Also interesting if Macavity tries coming back into his life after seeing him magic Deuteronomy back. But luckily misto has munk and Vic to support him now
