I love, love, LOVE your speedrun comic, expecially the parts with Ace losing his mind and ASL reuniting. I am VERY curious as to how, exactly, this gremlin crew of half-feral children managed to negotiate an alliance with Whitebeard. My bet is Luffy just went “rearranges reality until it’s more to his liking and everybody is left wobbling dazedly”. Also, the Whitebeard Pirates thinking “this explains SO MUCH about Ace”.

Frank! fantasy flavor!

rambles:

i really wanted to blend that monk-class inspiration w/ Frank's personal vibe... i like to think that i Succeeded!

i turned his tie into a sort of brooch since, yk. bowties aren't all that Fantastical. they miss the style. also i think they'd be more comfortable with something smaller since he's very active and needs a wide range of maneuverability

i bet Eddie or someone wheedled them into adding the leather shoulder pauldrons - leather to keep it a bit more flexy, and also. it just looks Cool!

figuring out what would replace his vest was tough. i didn't want them to be entirely unprotected, but i couldn't give him straight armor. though i will admit! a sort of tight-fitting crop top was Considered! but i landed on a gambeson vest as the best fit - comfortable, flexible, a Vest, while providing some level of protection! also, gambesons are quilted, which fits Frank's diamond-checkered vest!

ive already mentioned that one of my favorite outfit things is Flowy Pants Tucked Into Boots, so... that choice wasn't very character driven. except the boots are a tall ankle wrap - for that extra stability and strength! their shoes are pretty flexible and are only a few steps away from being slippers.

and the half-skirt - open skirt? - thing (still don't know what its called) is purely some self indulgence. i think Frank looks great in skirts!! also imagining him Throwing Down w/ the added flair of the skirt... damn. it'd probably help confuse enemies too - what're they gonna do next? who knows! the skirt is in the way and adding extra Movement!

i like to think that his knife is either in a sheath attached to the back of the belt, or they have it on their thigh (under the skirt) like Wally's bag. he probably never uses it... punching is the way to go for Frank methinks. it's probably reserved for cutting ropes and fruit

speaking of punching.... wrist wraps! inspired by boxing gauze! pads his knuckles, keeps his wrist compressed, its the best choice for physical combat. though the wrapped knuckles probably always have blood showing through anyway... or no yeah it's mostly other people's blood...

as for scars - Frank probably has quite the collection! i imagine that they've been picking fights since a young age, and in such a dangerous world he probably got hit a Lot until they learned how to hit back. and hit back Well. still, i wanted to give him a cool face scar with a very lame backstory - a book with a crisp, sharp spine corner fell off a high shelf and bonked them in the face at juuuust the right angle <3 he probably stays very fucking quiet about it which makes everyone think there's some intense traumatic backstory behind it. there isn't. Frank's just embarrassed.

- Sabine's main Pokémon is Smeargle and her team is Earth/Fire Pokémon! I've set Ponyta and Tauros for her so far.

- Shin's main Pokémon is an Eevee (later Glaceon) and her team is Flying/Ice types! I've set Frosmoth and Gyarados for her so far.

- In this AU, they are both 16 and teen prodigies. They're also rivals, so the story will be rivals to girlfriends <33 (if I ever get to writing it)

I have a whole plot set and really need to get to writing this AU, it's been sitting in my drafts since October or November. I hope I can get to doing Baylan and Ahsoka next, and then eventually Hera and Ezra.

Rimmer & Snimmer Napoleon

Rimmer and his Snivy, Napoleon! They've been all the other has in the world since Rimmer was a kid; and they are both going up, up, up the ziggurat, lickety-split!

In fact, they act so alike that Lister started calling Napoleon 'Snivy-Rimmer,' or Snimmer, for short. (Rimmer and Napoleon are both utterly indignant about this, but over the years, they complain less and less. Eventually, even Rimmer catches himself using the nickname for his buddy.)

Actually, Napoleon softens to Lister before Rimmer does - probably because he isn't working through a gay panic at the same time.

And yes it IS unusual for someone to have a Snivy for this long and not evolve it, but that is only because they don't even WANT him to evolve (they totally do) and anyway who knows if Holographic Pokémon even CAN evolve so why try! (they are constantly trying) Anyway who would even want to have a Serperior they are TOTALLY overrated! (One time, Napoleon snuck off and ate a leafstone trying to evolve but instead just got horrible holographic indigestion; another time, they convinced Holly to rewrite Snimmer's code but Holly messed up and Rimmer just ended up switching bodies with his Pokémon for a day. Which was definitely one of the top three weirdest things that happened that week.)

Hi hello that new story is rotating at rapid speeds. For once Grian is the one who doesn’t remember? I ADORE that. Scar being Fate is so so cool. Of course he would be the one holding them together while watching them fall apart. It just works.

And Mumbo knows? Did you specify how he knows? I was too in shock about Scar trying not to let their strings break and being literal Fate. How many times has Scar had to explain this to Grian? How many times has he not remembered? What made this time different for him to WANT to be reminded?? So few words have sparked so many questions. I am so here for this au.

Yeeeees I really wanted to play on the idea of Grian Knowing about the Life Games and change the rules - Like. He's still a Watcher - but I'm thinking in this au, if it weren't for SCAR huh, huh, he WOULD only be Watching the Life Games. Scar [And, Mumbo] have an incompatible set of....idk. Godliness???????? Magic????/ And it overrides Grian's Watcher abilities methinks. I'm still ironing that one out. Also poor Scar, someone get this man a cookie, he's desperately holding everyone together [Well - him and Cub, I imagine the Vex thing also being a cover up for disappearing for long stretches of time to Fix Strings{which, btw, I think they only mend them for a certain amount of time or for a number of tears EXCEPT for Grian and Scar and Mumbo bc the man can be a little be selfish and desperately cling onto his soulmates if he wants to}]

So here's what I'm thinking with Mumbo [And Xisuma and Etho] - they are a trio called colloquially as the Brothers of the Void - they themselves don't have a name, but if Scar upkeeps the strings of fate, they upkeep all forms of the Void - The End, the Overworld, the Nether, and this sort of between lives that Scar maintains, along with the afterlife. Mumbo specifically is the Overworld and the realm Fate occupies [which is how and why redscape is already A Thing.]. Xisuma is the End and Etho is the Nether I think, and I think one controls the afterlife and maybe one controls the like. Before??? Life???? idk man I'm spinning them in a salad spinner rn.

Scar and Grian don't have this convo EVERY time Grian dies, I imagine most deaths are pretty mundane because like, hermitcraft as a server [Which, this world is sort of The Game Minecraft but not. Like, they respawn? But its not like a game. Its like they just die and wake back up usually, even Scar or Mumbo. Different servers and worlds are just different universe bubbles people can travel between,,,somehow?] but Grian's participation in the Life Games as the Creator of them is...maybe in direct defiance of Fate itself thanks to Scar. Grian made them to feed his Watcher powers maybe?? and like yes he KNOWS that its Bad to kill/watch his friends die but he has to do something or he'll....idk fade out of existence???? And Scar, being mildly grumpy at having to participate maybe dragged Grian into it himself and so I think every death in the Life Games holds this sort of weight to it. Where Grian wakes up in this place he doesn't belong and won't remember and then flickers back to respawning like he's supposed to. Except - he never remembers, and Scar isn't usually there at the same time, so it's only maybe...once or twice? They've crossed each other's paths. Maybe the last death in every life game. Like maybe Scar waited for him in 3rd life and uhhh im ngl i do not remember the order in which they died in last life it's been a minute B U T regardless.

The thing that's different, I think, is watch Scar literally for their bond back fron the brink, watching him mend it, weave the fibers back together, force them to hold strong, refuse to lose Grian like this. Because, idk, I don't know about you but if I watched the dude who I definitely have a deep and profound love for I was just soulbonded to fight to keep our REAL soulbond together I would absolutely be like "find me and tell me".
