Co-official and non-official languages of the Spanish state.
I was, what? WTF is that little island of Basque language in Segovia??
And I was today years old when I learnt about gacería or briquero, a language spoken by ~500 people as a first language, and ~5000 passive speakers (they can understand it but can't speak it).
Gacería was born around the 12th-13th centuries among cattle merchants as a code language for their businesses, and though it follows the Spanish pronunciation and grammar, it has influences of literally everyone in the Iberian peninsula at that time: - Old Spanish - French - Arabic - Caló (Iberian Roma people's language) - Galician and Basque, due to Galician and Navarrese people leaving their homelands to repopulate the area after the Reconquista.
Some examples of Basque words in gacería: artón = arto = bread gazo = gaizto = bad motillón = mutil, motel = young man muy = mihi = tongue ura = ura = water urdaya = urdaia = pork, meat

Silos's pharmacy.
In the ancient Abbey of Saint Dominic of Silos, the old pharmacy has been preserved to these days. In old times, it had a botanic garden, a pharmaceutical laboratory, a very interesting library and hundreds of earthenware pots for potions and remedies.
More information about the Abbey here (EN):
The monastery dates back to the Visigothic period of the 7th century. In the 10th century, the abbey was called San Sebastián de Silos, but acquired its current name when Dominic of Silos was entrusted to renovate the abbey by Fernando the Great, King of Castile and León. Dominic had been prior of the Monasteries of San Millán de la Cogolla before being driven out with two of his fellow monks by King García Sánchez III of Navarre, for opposing the king's intention to annex the monastery's lands.
Ps. Thanks to all the people who has reblogged and liked this post. 😊

"Keep your hands off my teammate," Leon growls as she shoves Matthew up against the wall. It had been painful to watch Matthew practically draping herself on Connie whenever she had the chance, Connie becoming increasingly flustered every time Matthew’s hands had found themselves wandering; as her A, it's only Leon's duty to intervene. "Oh, does Connie know you called dibs?" Matthew replies, seemingly unphased. "I don’t see why we can’t share—" "— besides," her hands make their way to Leon’s waist, fingers pulling softly at the bottom of Leon’s top, and Leon suddenly feels as though she’s the one on the back foot, "I wouldn’t mind if it was you."
Based on @adelphenium's gorgeous mcmattdrai drawing!
I've also drawn Connie McDavid here!

The Bastard Kings and their families
This is series of posts are complementary to this historical parallels post from the JON SNOW FORTNIGHT EVENT, and it's purpouse to discover the lives of medieval bastard kings, and the following posts are meant to collect portraits of those kings and their close relatives.
In many cases it's difficult to find contemporary art of their period, so some of the portrayals are subsequent.
