Three's a Crowd
Part 1
Written with: @mamajuliet and @mamajebbun
It had been a few days from Ale's return to towm, and he tried to use his newfound freedom well. First, he tried to do a little research. Maybe he could find a book to coincidentally leave open and let someone find to free him with. No dice. Then, he tried to do a little paperwork. He still had to pass the bar fully over to his brother. It was awkward.
However, all of these things added to one: procrastination. As much as Ale wanted to see Swirl, the last thing he wanted to do was explain the precarious situation he now found himself in.
It wasn't long until Ale found himself staring at the first step of the threshold. The voice in his head was still silent, and he lingered in place for a moment to make sure that he couldn't feel anything stirring. He'd notice when that thing started to wake up again, right? He could handle it. It just had to stay asleep long enough for him to visit with Swirl. Just once.
Mustering up his courage, as he always did, the ex-barkeep took the few steps up to the door, then knocked.
"I sure hope she's off today," he mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck. He hated to admit it, but he couldn't remember where the ice cream shop was, and wasn't sure he could find it in time if she was gone.
In a flurry of motion, the door was opened and Swirl flung herself onto him with a laugh. "You came back! I was so worried!" She cuddled him tightly as if she wasn't going to let him go. Then she pulled away just enough to look up at him. "What happened? You aren't demonic looking. Right enough, I don't know what a demon would even look like," she added with a frown.
Ale laughed, giving her a squeeze back. For a moment, his worries were gone.
"Yeah, 'course I did! I'm not gonna come back lookin' like some ugly monster, am I? Gotta keep my looks for my Swirly!"
"I dunno. Some horns and wings would've been pretty amazing to see." Swirl teased and cupped his glassed face. She got serious, though, with the next question. "So... did that happen? Or are you not allowed to say?"
"Ah..." Ale looked away for a moment, his mug bubbling as he tried to think his way through it. "I think, ah... I'm kinda an assistant, I guess."
There was obviously more to the story, but he was afraid of her reaction. However, he didn't want to hide it from her, either. Finally, he just sighed, and glanced towards the door.
"Why don't we go in, and I'll tell ya what I can about it. It's kinda... weird. There's some stuff I can't say, though, and I don't have a lot 'a time before they wake up."
Swirl's smile dropped as she heard all this, then she opened the door quickly. Seems like they didn't have time to deal with it all. "Head into the living room sweetheart. We can talk there."
Ale nodded, then did as he was told. He stood there, rubbing the back of his neck. How on Earth was he going to tell her about this? When she came into the room, he glanced over, then looked away.
"So, ah... I'm not all... me anymore," he said hesitantly.
"I gathered that may happen." Swirl sighed softly while sitting on her couch. "I have heard some horror stories. As much as I teased about you going to that casino, in truth, it frightened me Ale. Can you talk about where you are working at least?" Swirl rubbed the back of her head. She bit her lip in hopes that maybe she could maybe make a deal for his sake.
"Uh... Heh, yeah, it's this big ol' fairground and circus," he said, letting an easy smile pull at his cheeks as he sat down. "It's actually pretty cool! Bright an' colorful, over on the other side 'a the isle. Maybe a ten minute train ride from here. The guy that gave me my assignment's the ringleader, I think. Shady guy in a hat, but not as bad as that creep from the casino. Not by a long shot. You gotta come see it sometime. I haven't seen the shows or anything yet, but I've heard they're pretty good."
"A circus?" Swirl looked at him with a serious look. "Like... they're demons using a circus to bring people? But it's children's entertainment?"
"I mean, yeah, it's run by some guy that works for the devil, but it ain't like the casion. It's, like, a real circus. Far as I can tell, the people there aren't demonic or anything. For the most part." He shrugged, then waved off her concern. "It really ain't anything ya need 'ta worry about. I did some explorin' before I went to their boss, and it seems pretty safe durin' the day. I haven't been there at night yet, but it can't be that bad, right? Especially since I guess I'm kinda one 'a their bosses now, so there's that."
"That so weird." Swirl mused softly. "I guess I just expected it to be safe since its for kids."
"Oh, it is. Ain't no doubt about that. I heard their boss has a soft spot for kiddos, oddly enough." Ale looked over when she relaxed, then did the same himself. There was just something about being around her that helped him to be so much more at ease.
... should he tell her the bad news?
No. No, this he couldn't tell her. If it came to where he was sure there was no way out, then he'd say something.
"So, how's work been," Ale finally asked, scooting over a few inches closer. "I bet it's been fun, workin' in your own element an' all, right?"
"Kind of. I miss singing though." Swirl sighed loudly as she rubbed her stomach carefully. "Plus I have been feeling weird recently. I think singing help me vent out my frustrations."
"Oh yeah? Well, I bet ya Appy would love to have ya up on that stage whenever ya wanted," Ale said, finally sliding up next to her and frowning with concern. "So... Have you been sick're something? Feelin' weird how? Anything I can do 'ta help?"
"Yeah. Been sick in the morning and gaining weight." Swirl huffed as she pinched her stomach. She nervously rubbed her head soon after. "I think I need to go to the doctors cause..."
"Well... It sounds like I'm maybe pregnant."

కాసులు కురిపించే Casion | Interesting Facts Of 메이저놀이터 | Eyecon Facts #2988
If the player gives $10, $5 would be placed on the easy ways 10 with 15:1 odds and $5 would be placed on the hard way with 30:1 odds. During the play of tricks, known as the play of the hand, the players ensure that they do not allow each other to see their cards. It is generally against a player's interest to allow her opponents to see her cards. It is cheating to allow her partner(s) to see her cards. In either case, it is not permitted. The cards already played to the current trick, and no others, should be clearly visible. The luck factor in a casino game is quantified using standard deviations (SD). Prior to paying a progressive payout hand, the dealer shall:Verify that the hand is a winning hand;Verify that the appropriate light on the acceptor device has been illuminated; and Have a casino supervisor validate the progressive payout pursuant to approved internal control procedures.
The rarity of being able to obtain information on 3 or more of the dealer’s hole cards and the high skill level involved ensure that only the most diligent of professional players are ever likely to come across this information and it should be emphasized that the risks involved in gaining less than perfect information are likely to be substantial. http://query.nytimes.com/search/sitesearch/?action=click&contentCollection®ion=TopBar&WT.nav=searchWidget&module=SearchSubmit&pgtype=Homepage#/샌즈카지노 This poker variant features two distinct payout tables that we are going to analyze in this paragraph. You may bookmark this page and use it as a go-to resource any time you might need some help. So far, you understood that as soon as you place a wager on the ante the game will begin and you will be dealt five cards facing up. Electronic slot machines offer many different games (poker is one of the most popular) and are called by a variety of names: electronic gaming devices, video gaming terminals, video gaming devices, video poker machines, or just slots. Roulette players have a variety of betting options. Placing inside bets is either selecting the exact number of the pocket the ball will land in, or a small range of pockets based on their proximity on the layout.

The $200,000 they win at roulette provides the stake they need to challenge the prince to a high-stakes game of Banco, in which they take the Prince for the money he was planning to use to buy arms in order to go to war against a neighbor. In Italy and Spain, which were also introduced to playing cards in the 15th century, different sets of suit indicators became popular on cards in those countries. The picture on the right is from an Italian deck. The pictures on the suits are "clubs", "swords", "cups", and "coins" respectively. However, people in northern Italy may use French suited decks for some games. A card box will indicate regional variations and which suit symbols and pictures are used on a deck, i.e. - Bergamo, Brescia, Roma, Trento. Spanish suit symbols are very similar to the Italian suits, but there are some differences. Besides the rules of the game itself, a number of formal and informal rules are commonly applied in the table form of Craps, especially when played in a casino. Nine chips or multiples thereof are bet. Two chips are placed on the 0-2-3 trio; one on the 4-7 split; one on 12-15; one on 18-21; one on 19-22; two on the 25-26-28-29 corner; and one on 32-35.
Small numeric indices are found in pip cards (which do not include the 10 nor the daus). Courts instead only bear a tiny suit sign, but not in all editions. They are manufactured to strict technical specifications and use a computer programming technique called random number generation. The Belgian-Genoese pattern is very similar to its Parisian parent and is basically an export relation not quoted to France's domestic stamp tax.Wagers made by the player. The dealer shall settle any Caribbean Stud Bonus Wager made by the player by determining whether the player's five-card Poker hand qualifies for a payout in accordance with Section 11(c). A winning Caribbean Stud Bonus Wager shall be paid irrespective of whether the player's five-card Poker hand outranks the dealer's hand.
Even if you’ve played poker all your life, as you walk through the tables you'll find poker variations all over the floor you might never have heard of. Do residents from Macau and Singapore have diverse viewpoints in relation to possible correlations between gambling behaviors and attitudes and the impacts of casino gambling operations? Due to the random nature of the game, in popular culture a "crapshoot" is often used to describe an action with an unpredictable outcome. However, it runs into problems when it tries to spot patterns in games that are random.
For example, they provide perks designed to encourage gamblers to spend more and to reward those who do. Cash vouchers by mail are an often-used incentive for players to return. At the end of the last betting round, if more than one player remains, there is a showdown, in which the players reveal their previously hidden cards and evaluate their hands.Lowe took the game to New York where friends liked playing it.
Blackjack was a game of 21 founded in France. Once that round of play is over, the dealer shuffles all the cards, prepares them for the cut, places the cards in the shoe, and the game continues. Not knowing these terms may cause a disadvantage to anyone playing the game. 우리카지노 Included in this industry are floating casinos (i.e., gambling cruises, riverboat casinos).”
If, with a point established, that point is rolled again before a 7, the bet wins. With currently over 1,000 casinos, the United States has the largest number of casinos in the world. The number continues to grow steadily as more states seek to legalize casinos. Both the players and the dealers stand around a large rectangular craps table. Sitting is discouraged by most casinos unless a player has medical reasons for requiring a seat.In crapless craps, 2 and 12 have odds of 11:2 and have a house edge of 7.143% while 3 and 11 have odds of 11:4 with a house edge of 6.25%.

Picadinho (Brazilian Ground Beef with Vegetables)
This recipe is excerpted from AT HOME WITH NATALIE © 2018 by Natalie Morales with Ann Volkwein. Reproduced by permission of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. All rights reserved.
Tumblr media
Gluten-free Serves 8
Ground beef can be so boring, but not when made this way. (And I’m happy when my kids are getting plenty of nutrients and veggies, but with no complaints!) Growing up, my mom would make this Brazilian classic pretty much once a week because it’s so good, quick, and easy—not to mention, budget friendly. Picadinho—pronounced pi-ca-DEE-nyo—is like a Brazilian chili, typically served on top of white rice.
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 1 large white onion, chopped 2 garlic cloves, minced 2 pounds lean ground beef 1 (14-ounce) can diced tomatoes with juices ½ cup chopped fresh parsley 4 large eggs Pinch of red pepper flakes Salt and freshly ground black pepper 1 medium russet potato, peeled and cut into small cubes 2 celery stalks, chopped 1 red bell pepper, chopped 1 cup dry red wine 1 cup beef broth
1.     In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring frequently so that they don’t burn, until caramelized to a golden brown, about 10 minutes. Add the garlic in the last minute of cooking.
2.     In a large bowl, stir together the ground beef, tomatoes with their juices, parsley, eggs, red pepper flakes, and a dash of salt and black pepper. Mix as if you were making a meat loaf.
3.     Add the meat mixture to the skillet with the onion and garlic and cook over medium-high heat to brown the meat, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks, 5 to 7 minutes.
4.     Stir in the potato, celery, bell pepper, wine, and broth. Cover and cook over medium-low heat for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally, until the liquid reduces and the potatoes are cooked. Season with salt and black pepper and serve.
Note: This recipes takes about 20 minutes to prep and 1½ hours to cook.

That’s the Spirit || Solo
‘Guy moves one paper cup a centimeter off the desk and-’ the man-well, former man on the other side of the room leaned against the wall with his arms folded as another younger former patient, still in his medical scrubs was passing his hand through the machinery in the room and waving it around like he was trying to pull at the wiring. His hand passed straight through and back out the other side. Cassie saw the screen flicker and glitch and the ghost’s eyes lit up. ‘Nice. Hey guys, check this out’.
The respiratory ward was a bustle of noise and people in scrubs darting around from room to room. Even from inside Dr Ambler’s office at the top of the corridor she could still hear the shuffle of paper and medicine doses being calculated from the nurses on the front desk. That was a blip of a distraction compared with what was going on in the office itself.
‘Shut up and let me concentrate’, the other one hissed and crossed over to the other side of the room to where Cassie was sitting. She tried to tune them out, but they were making such a racket it was close to impossible.
‘Wow a whole paperweight. Amateur hour.’ Ghost number two pushed himself away from the wall and moved to join his friend when something-someone else crossed the doorway out of the corner of her eye. There were three of them in the room now. Great. The third visitor was a teenager dressed in what was pretty much the standard in a pair of pale skinny jeans, red sneakers and a white t-shirt.
‘The hell did you leave the staff room? You missed me screwing with the coffee machine….Jerry what are you even doing man? You couldn’t move that dust bunny yesterday how you going to touch that?’ Cassie tried to ignore it as one of them moved to stand beside her to the right. Dr Ambler didn’t so much as flinch as a heavyset man in a white ill-fitting hospital gown walked right through him. A millisecond later she saw Dr Ambler shudder and shake his shoulders. He did feel it, just delayed. That was…unpleasant. They must’ve been new she decided. She wasn’t an expert, but most of the other ghosts within a ten mile radius of anywhere she showed up pinpointed her like she was some sort of homing beacon. Not these guys. They were more interested in outdoing each other moving whatever was around, much to her irritation. Didn’t they have some chains to go rattle somewhere?
‘Try her chair’. One of them aid which caught her attention pretty fast. Her back straightened. If they weren’t dead before they would be if they came within a meter of her space. She had a small zip lock bag of coarse salt out of a grinder she had back at her apartment ready made to pitch at them, but doing that would let them now she could see them and at this point that was just going to cause more problems than it would solve. So, for now at least she had to sit tight.
Thankfully the idea was quickly nixed when the girl with the red converse spoke again. ‘Nah man, the paperweight’, she pointed to the paperweight sitting on Dr Patel’s desk on top of a haphazard stack of papers and forms to the left of where she was sitting across from the desk. Her eyes darted involuntarily towards it.‘Do it’.
Cassie reached out to grab the paperweight  just as tumbled free from the top of the stack of papers and rolled towards her and the floor and set it right again.
‘The fuck?’
“Nice catch,” Dr Ambler took it back as Cassie held it out towards him and he stuck it into a drawer by the desk.
“Thanks,” Cassie swallowed and shifted forwards in her seat, hoping to at least look like she was giving him her full attention. “You were saying?”
“I was saying that you may want to avoid-”
‘You think she saw us?’ The girl in the red sneakers said, staring at the back of Cassie’s head.
‘Go check’, the heavyset man told his friend.
“-casionally there can be lasting dama-” Cassie caught a snippet of what Dr Ambler said, but didn’t catch the rest of what he said as a man-well, former man- in his late forties moved their face inches from her looking for any sign he could be seen. He made a few faces and gestures at her which she ignored. Instead she stared straight ahead and once again tried to nod along to Dr. Ambler’s words.
‘Nothing’, the ghost passed a hand over her eyes and she fought against flinching. ‘scared the shit out of me,’ he said with relief and laughed.
“-tion”.
“Huh?” She snapped out of it just as Dr Ambler had stopped talking and was now looking at her expectantly. Crap.
“Do you have any questions?” He asked again and she could see part of his eyebrow incline upwards.
“Oh, sorry it’s just,” she cleared her throat, “it’s a lot to take in. So there’s no permanent damage?”
“No, I’d say nothing that shouldn’t clear up by the year end. You’ve been very lucky.”
“First time for everything,” she let out a breath of laugh without much humour. “Anything else I should look out for, do I need a lower dose of painkillers?”
“No, you shouldn’t need any painkillers at this time. I’ve made a recommendation with your primary physician for some breathing exercises to speed up the healing process. Not the most comfortable of things, but it’s really the best course of action for these things. I should just give you a demo now so you can start today.” She tried her best to listen and just about got the jist of it.
“Okay, uh, one last thing, “ she shifted in her seat again and gripped the handle of her bag ready to leave, “I’ve been trying this year to get back into running. Am I good to start that up again when this stops getting in the way?”
“I’d advise against anything like that for the next month at least. Give yourself some time to heal. You can pick up running again any time.”
“Right, okay. Great, so that’s everything?”
“That’s everything,” he gave her a small smile and she said her thanks and left to start the short walk back to the exit. Now she just had to get out of here.
She kept her head down towards the floor and quickened her pace as a shiver cascaded down her back. She didn’t have to turn around to know she was being followed. She could feel it from the tip to the base of her spine as she walked. They’d lined the corridor on both sides, some standing in doorways as people passed through them getting in and out of the wards while others decided to trail beside her. Cassie took this opportunity to stop and dig around in her bag and stick her headphones in and play something loud enough to the point where she saw anything that was aware of her had to fight and yell over each other as she marched past them with her head tilted downwards towards the tile floor.
‘Hey, there’s a TV in room four I can switch channels on. Some dude in there is losing his mind over it, come on’, the teenager from before returned and told the rest gleefully as they trailed her through the ward. She’d heard enough and reached into her bag to open the Ziploc.
“Screw it,” she threw about a pinch of sea salt across the threshold of the door and gave what she hoped passed for a ‘cut the crap’ look in their direction as she left.
‘I told you. She saw us. Shit fuck’, they tried to catch up to her as she nudged the door open with her shoulder, but they stopped right between the double doors at the end as she expected them to. That was as far as they could go, for now. Maybe one she got herself together with this stuff she’d come back and move them on so they could be jerks somewhere else.
Three down, however many there were in here left to go. Don’t see me don’t see me she chanted mostly to herself as she moved along the wards towards the stairs. No such luck. Sure enough they were there again, different ones. They’d a group now. Several very pissed off former people were looking right at her. Last time she had the excuse of being unconscious, now the ear-splitting twangs of the current track’s guitar solo was all that was keeping her from what she was sure was a volley of abuse for ignoring them.
As he moved past another desk she could have sworn the guy in the lab coat was nailing the second chorus blasting through her headphones as she moved quickly through the corridor. As she passed the final nurses station she turned the volume up as loud as it would go without permanently deafening herself as she passed through the last double doors and onto the main foyer. One she reached the last set of double doors leading to the outside she breathed a sigh of relief. Well, almost. There was just one problem now. Looks like she had a second shadow. She ignored it and continued down to get some coffee and made her way to the common to sit for a while before she had to be anywhere. They followed, because of course they did.
The late September morning carried a slight chill in the air from her vantage point where she sat on one of the benches around the common. Still hot coffee cup in hand she winced as she took another deep breath and held it as instructed and decided in that moment that her doctor had in fact just been sadistic in his method of treatment. Her ribs protested at the movement with a sharp ache and she closed her eyes over to concentrate as she continued the exercise, inhaling, holding and releasing, until she sensed someone tentatively standing a little away from her bench.
“Excuse me miss?” Cassie stopped and squinted one eye open at the sound. She let a breath out, slumped her shoulders and stifled a groan. In what universe did people hold you to the things you agreed to when you’re injured and drugged? She recognized him from the night she’d been taken in. She remembered it in perfect clarity like a post-hangover flashback without the benefit of having drank in the first place
“Do you know where you are?”
“In bed,”
“Anything else?”
“Hospital?”
“Yes, you hit your head. What day is it?”
“I didn’t know there’d be a pop quiz, I didn’t study,”
“Alright, one more question and we’ll leave you alo-”
“Who’s this guy?” Cassie’s attention snapped to the uninvited figure in the room. She gestured to where the guy was standing, the nurse had to have walked past him when he got in. As soon as he realized she was talking about him he had looked up at her from where he was leaning against the opposite wall, arms crossed. He nodded a greeting at her and then turned his attention back to the outside of the door like her own personal doorman. The nurse looked behind him for a second and then turned the corners of his mouth down into a sympathetic smile as he adjusted her IV and added something to the saline bag.
Outside there were all kinds of ghosts and something else entirely circling like vultures. Figures pushing and fighting each other to get through the door to her room. Reaching out for help or attention. They were everywhere, like they were circling in competition to be heard.  and she yelled out to deaf ears. The man on the other side of the room looked over to where she was staring and frowned at the chaos outside and then softened when he glanced back in her direction. He moved to a standing position and spoke for the first time.
“If I take care of them for you will you do me a favor?” She didn’t answer, just struggled to get free from the bed as a nurse calmed her down and fixed her a sedative.
“Nevermind, sorry. One second.” He left and a while later all the yells and cries died away and she closed her eyes as the sedative took effect.
She didn’t remember a whole lot after that. He was stood to her right now. The ghost from that night. Now that she could actually see him properly she reluctantly inclined her head in his direction as he waited hesitantly for her to acknowledge him. Crap. At least this one was polite. He had that going for him.
“Kind of a bad time,” she said without moving her mouth as a dog walker passed by.
“You look better,” he tried again and sat down on the bench a little away from her. Just far enough for some personal space, but close enough to be heard.
She lifted the coffee to her lips, took a long sip and spoke again with it hovering over her mouth to mask the movement of her mouth, “don’t feel better,” she murmured.  She was stupidly hoping he wasn’t going to hold her to any of it. No such luck.
“So, about that favour,” he asked tentatively. He didn’t have much of an accent. Or, if he did it must have been ironed out over the years with just the barest hint of the south in it. She caught in in the way he said ma’am, there was still that unmistakable drawl there, just barely. He was a long way from home.
“What favor?”
“Come on, you weren’t that far gone,” there was a little humour in his voice there. He didn’t seem like the type to give up that easy. Tough luck.
“Okay. You want me to return a favour…which I was barely conscious enough to know about, nice.” Cassie turned towards him and narrowed her eyes slightly. She could see a shark tooth necklace she didn’t think anybody wore past nineteen-ninety-nine peeking out from the deep green of his Henley. For a second she wondered why he wasn’t cold before she rolled her eyes at herself. Hard to feel cold when you don’t have a pulse or tangibility, Cass.
“wouldn’t put it that way,” he said almost embarrassed, “more a common courtesy,” he said calmly without looking in her direction and leaned his back against the wooden slats of the bench. She looked over to where she could make them out a little more. In life he must’ve had that laid back guy next door vibe. He wasn’t demanding anything, just sitting there patiently. Hard to get pissed at that.
“Alright, look,” he twisted to face her and slouched his shoulders, “I wouldn’t ask if I wasn’t desperate. I don’t know what I’m doing here. I don’t know if there’s some kind of etiquette or anything, but I have to ask because getting nuked off the face of the earth by one of you has to be better than being ignored back there and watching people flat-line.”
“...Guess I do owe you,” she eventually felt herself relenting. That had to suck. She wasn’t a total ass, or at least she never used to be.
“I’d appreciate it is all,” he breathed and sat back in his seat. She wondered how that worked; if he could pass through things what was stopping him from falling right through?
“What happened to you?” She turned towards him again. Maybe he went out saving a bus of cheerleaders or his dog or something.
“I have no clue,” he replied almost apologetically.
“Okay,” she tried again, “you have a name?”
“I think my hospital tag had Collins…I’m not sure.”
“helpful,” she pursed her lips and nodded. “Look,” she sighed, “I can’t even help myself at this point…but I’ll try. One condition.”
“Alright, hit me.”
“You keep the goon squad in there away,” she gestured back to where they’d came, “least till I can figure something out.”
“Deal,” he said without hesitation.
“That’s it?” Cassie asked, “you don’t want me to ‘avenge my death,’ ‘tell my wife hello,’ nothing like that?”
“I don’t even know that there’s anybody to avenge,” he shrugged, hands dropping down to his sides.
“Okay, then what do you want me to do?”
“I need you to help me leave. Got no interest hanging round here.”
“And how am I supposed to do that if you don’t even know your own name?”
“I don’t know, I’ve been here since March, maybe something happened to me, maybe it’s in the newspapers. Check online, I don’t know. Thought you’d know. I just need one of you people to do this for me. That’s it. Why the hell else would I be here?”
“To piss me off?”
“Please,” was all he asked then. That did it.
“You’ll leave me alone afterwards? And you tell all your little Casper friends back there to cut the crap?”
“Yes, like I said. Not an issue, will you help me do this?”
“Fine, alright. I’ll help.” At that he suppressed a smile and thanked her, but he didn’t leave. Battle lost she finished the rest of her coffee in silence, he stayed where he was. The need to make polite conversation had bee drilled into her since birth, so, despite herself she found herself looking for something to talk about to fill the quiet.
“Were you the crying guy?” Cassie blurted out.
“Hmm?” he snapped out from staring towards the park and looked over at her.
“There was a guy crying at the end of the ward all night when I was in there. That you?”
“No, wasn’t me. I don’t know who that was but I think that’s more of an echo.”
“An echo?”
“You know, like a video playing on a loop. Whoever it was isn’t there anymore, it’s just an imprint of what’s left.”
“Right,” Cassie picked at the lid of her coffee and pushed the decaf bubble down with her nail absently.
“Shouldn’t you be the expert?” He asked without much judgement.
“Probably,” what else didn’t she know?
“Then shouldn’t you know this stuff?”
“Yeah,” she quirked her mouth to the side, “I really should get on that,” she said more to herself, let out a sigh and shifted her bag onto her shoulder to get ready to go before this got any weirder than it already was. “Alright, I’m not going to be back here so how do I-“
“It’s alright,” he was already standing and outstretched his hand for her to shake before realising that it wasn’t going to work and sheepishly dropped it.  “I’ll find you.” Cassie didn’t have time to ask what that meant. He was already gone.
