I like Caraline Damodred. I wish we'd gotten Rand's POV when he first saw her. I bet he was just as shocked as Min was by how much she resembled mommy!Moiraine.
Caraline ending up married to a blue-eyed Tairen... I know it's entirely not the intention but the parallels! Yes, my Siuanraine heart, I will make connections where nothing exists.
The chapter where they flee from the evil fog with an unconscious Rand had no business being that funny but it was. Min slipping and tumbling. Caraline, High Seat of House Damodred, I-will-not-marry-you-Darlin-even-if-you-are-king-of-Tear, in her dress, faring no better. The image of this prim and proper Moiraine-lookalike with the hems of her skirts up her ears, asking Min for the name of her seamstress so she can get boyclothes made for herself is hilarious. And meanwhile the Aes Sedai are just gliding down the mountain slopes, chatting among themselves, while making sure to catch Darlin before he falls because he's carrying Rand.
And THEN they get into that turnip wagon and everybody, including the Aes Sedai have to contend with being jostled and shaken as they travel on the rough road at top speed. And Caraline GLOATS at this even though she's sent off her seat higher and crashes back down harder than everybody else because she is a smol Carhienen. HAHAHA

I never thought we'd see any of Moiraine's sisters on Wheel of Time let alone that one of them would be played by Lindsay freakin' Duncan. I wonder if they're planning to combine Anvaere with Caraline? I expect we'll have more than a few composite characters going forward (because Jordan just couldn't stop adding more and more secondary characters) and this would make the most sense.

Clearly Rosamund Pike filmed that NYCC greeting video thing acting against herself to prepare us all for her upcoming dual role in season two playing Moiraine and Caraline, yes? Yes.

From the mind of Cadsuane:
...[was my] bitterest failure except possibly for failing to learn what Caraline Damodred’s cousin had been up to in the Borderlands until the knowledge was years too late to do any good.
Moiraine is better than Cadsuane at Daes dae'mar. It's canon.

Real talk. Is Caraline Damodred going to be in S02, and is Rosamund going to play her??? It would be apropos: every time Rand sees Caraline he thinks how much she looks like her cousin, Moiraine. This looks like Cairhienin fashion (going purely off Moiraine's S01 costumes) but it does not particularly look Moiraine-ish.

Missing Siblings (Damodred Style)
Or, what the fuck ever happened to Moiraine’s sisters? And their children?
As we all may recall, in New Spring, Moiraine’s references having older sisters, not just an older brother (Taringail, baby daddy of Galad, Elayne and Gawyn). When discussing them, it’s in context of ‘who will be the next ruler’ bit, with Moiraine explaining why neither of her sisters would work (and her realization that the White Tower is trying to dump her on the throne). As well all know, the next ruler is Galldrian Riatin, not a member of House Damodred, likely due to an inability to gain support following the utter shitshow that the Aiel War had been.
Okay, great, we know Moiraine escaped the throne to chase after Rand. Her sisters were probably not seen as good possible rulers to do the reasons she rattles off in book. Taringail can’t become king due to his marriage to Morgase. There’s no real indicator her Uncles had children (it’s not clear if Caraline is or not, only that she and Moiraine are cousins) , and Laman explicitly is mentioned having no wife and children. Okay, cool.  So we know why none of her siblings were the ruler.
But here’s the question; why was it Barthanes, a cousin of Laman’s High Seat of House Damodred at the start of the story?
As we see in series, most High Seats are the child/grandchild of the previous. When that lacks, a niece or nephew then makes sense. The closer bloodtie to the previous leader, the better (or look at the Andoran succession mess). So why the hell in the case of the Damodreds did it skip straight over Moiraine’s sisters and to Barthmanes?
When thinking about when ‘The Great Hunt’ came out, it’s completely possible Jordan simply hadn’t decided that Moiraine and Taringail had any other siblings. In older editions of early books, you get wonky things like differing numbers of siblings, etc. So naming a cousin as the succeeder makes sense. However, then with the intoduction of the sisters in ‘A New Spring’ RJ creates a bit of a snarl; namely, why aren’t either sister High Seat?
Three possibilities come to mind, and we’ll start with the grimmest (and sadly most likely). [Note: I say this in the idea that the sisters were always planned on and it’s not just a later retcon]
Her sisters (and their children) were assassinated in the ensuing succession crisis
As we all know from Colavaere’s failed attempt to be queen (and most histories concerning succession crisises), a fast method of getting rid of a rival is murder. Colavaere killed her most immediate rivals once she thought Rand was gone, never to return, assuming she’d be able to stable her rule. Logically, during the previous crisis, assassinations must have abounded.
So it would make sense to get rid of the closest relatives of the previous king, his nieces. Moiraine as a constantly on the move Aes Sedai would have been seen as a non issue. Her refusal to go to Cairhein post-Raising was a pretty clear indicator she had no interest in the throne which protected her (also, she was probably just too damn hard to find). On the other hand, her sisters both lived in Cairhein. For all we know, one did make an effort to grab the throne.
During that attempt, other rivals (both within and outside the House) may have assassinated them. It would further explain the lack of appearance of any close relatives of Moiraine’s in Cairhein. Hell, it would explain how Caraline is the only appearing Damodred post Second Aiel War.
The lack of Elayne, Galad or Gawyn mentioning they have cousins also increases the likelihood they’re all dead. Even if you go with the assumption of ‘well they were never asked!’ you’d think there’d at least be a reference to the possibility of them trying for the throne like Caraline did.
The unmarried one married King Galldrian
Unlikely, since you’d imagine Caraline at least would have made a comment since Toram tried to marry her. Also, it’s not entirely clear that the one was unmarried, only that one was and had children (and she definitely isn’t Galldrian’s wife).
Political manipulations made their specific branch of the family so unpalatable that they couldn’t even keep the High Seatship
Second most likely, but the lack of reference to them makes me a bit leery. You’d imagine Moiraine would at least give a comment or warning, or that one of the sisters would have popped up during the in-series crisis.
Or, you know, I’m talking out my ass and it’s purely a matter of RJ deciding Moiraine had sisters later to help explain the problem of her becoming Queen. But with how ruthless politics are in Cairhein? If they were always planned on, the sisters...well, its a rather nice demonstration of how to best do a political play. What’s dead is rarely a threat after all.

I just want the Wheel of Time show to get enough seasons to be able to bring in Caraline Damodred, played by Rosamund Pike in a slightly different wig.

Random Wheel of Time thought:
I wish we had any idea of what Moiraine and Caraline’s relationship was like.
New Spring, in establishing Moiraine’s opinion of her family as “all Damodreds suck except my dad,” somehow doesn’t make any specific mention of how Moiraine feels about her nigh-identical cousin.
