"He'd say, we've worked for our money, we put you in school
Is this how you repay us? Do you think this is cool?
My son, stop kissing boys in the street"
"He'd say, you're a part of this family, I made you myself
But the way that you act isn't good for your health
My son, stop kissing boys in the street"

Lyrics:
In the dark of the night, not a star in the sky
I can feel your love pull against the tide
And I see you shining bright like a lighthouse
And the winds got the water running wild
But I'll swim to you, swim for my life
And I pray that I'll make it before the night's up
I won't let you go
I feel it in my bones
No matter where I go
You're where my heart belongs
All I know
I'll follow every road
'Til I find my way back home
You're where my heart, you're where my heart
You're where my heart belongs
(My heartbeat, my heartbeat)
You're where my heart belongs
(My heartbeat, my heartbeat)
I belong right there in your open arms
The world can try to tear us apart
But our love will guide us home like a lighthouse
Walk a thousand miles in the pouring rain
And a million years couldn't change the way
The way I feel, I feel about you right now
I won't let you go
I feel it in my bones
No matter where I go
You're where my heart belongs
All I know
I'll follow every road
'Til I find my way back home
You're where my heart, you're where my heart
You're where my heart belongs
(My heartbeat, my heartbeat)
You're where my heart belongs
(My heartbeat, my heartbeat)
I won't let you go
I feel it in my bones
No matter where I go
You're where my heart belongs
All I know
I'll follow every road (every road)
'Til I find my way back home (my way back home)
You're where my heart, you're where my heart
You're where my heart belongs
You're where my heart belongs
(My heartbeat, my heartbeat)
You're where my heart belongs
(My heartbeat, my heartbeat)

I waived the white flag, I gave all I had
I'd even given up on love itself
Soaked by my tears, I was choked by my fears
Just a stubborn man too proud to ask for help
You don't know those words you said
Were the ones that pulled me from the edge
Oh, I used to walk on bridges with one thing on my mind
Do I wanna live or do I wanna die?
Staring at the waters while trying to decide
Between the pain that I've been living with or the pain I'd leave behind
Or the demons I've been fighting or the angels by my side
Yeah-hey, yeah-hey
The scars on my skin
They don't even begin to show the darkest places that I've been
The water is rising behind my eyes and only you can see the thoughts I'm drowning in
I wanna thank you for those words you said
'Cause they pulled me right back from the edge
Oh, I used to walk on bridges with one thing on my mind
Do I wanna live or do I wanna die?
Staring at the waters while trying to decide
Between the pain that I've been living with or the pain I'd leave behind
Or the demons I've been fighting or the angels by my side
Hey-hey, yeah-hey
Ooh, ooh-ooh
Oh, I used to walk on bridges with one thing on my mind
But now I walk on bridges to reach the other side

Modern day; you're pissed off at Silvio and he knows if you're going to every extent to avoid him, he really messed up. He knows where you live, he knows you love leaving your window cracked at night for the nice breeze and subtle sounds of night. This is his last idea he can think of to get you to acknowledge him again.
Cheesy, he knows, but you enjoy the small things so he swallows his pride and confidently holds a boombox over his head with the song, "You Are The Reason" by Calum Scott playing and damn it, he's even learned the lyrics to sing for you too. He's not a perfect singer, but he can sing decently enough for the action to be endearing.
He'd do anything to get you to stop being mad at him. You respond to the call of music and the soothing sound of his voice just outside your window and almost forget why you were mad in the first place as you enjoy the sight before you.
Only a man deeply in love would go to the extent he would for you.

i am finally done gatekeeping the most dorian pavus song i have ever heard.
honestly, it is insane to me that this song hasn't gone viral among dorian stans, but i blame it on the fact that not many dragon age fans listen to calum scott as much as i do.
i will acknowledge that calum's version is a cover and the original is out there somewhere, but after listening to both i just feel like calum's version encaptures dorian's character better.
the song is called "boys in the street" and is about a little boy who was shut out by his father for being gay.
remind you of anyone?
i shall link the song below and i recommend you all go and listen to it, but first i will share some of the lyrics and how i think they describe dorian's story perfectly.
"when i was younger, my daddy told me i would never, never amount to nothing special. he'd come at me from every angle. he'd say; "you're the last thing i wanted. the last thing i need. how am i going to answer when my friends tell me my son was kissing boys in the street?"
we all know halward had a problem with dorian's sexuality from a young age, probably even before dorian knew who he was himself. halward cares about keeping up appearances. having a gay son who refuses to hide who he is could ruin halward's reputation, which is why he would try so hard to make dorian see how wrong he is for being himself.
"tried to change me. say i'm embarassing my country. how could i do this to my family? don't want to grow up being lonely. he'd say; "we've worked for our money. we put you in school. is this how you repay us? do you think this is cool? my son, stop kissing boys in the street."
dorian says it himself:
and with tevinter's views on homosexuality, of course it makes dorian an embarrassment to his country. halward takes it as a personal offence against the pavus family for dorian to be gay, leading to dorian's ditching and living in loneliness for many years before finding the inquisition.
the rest of the song describes dorian's relationship with his dad later in life, after their reunion in "last resort of good men" and halward's assassination in trespasser, so i shall leave those verses for you guys to listen to yourselves.
i highly recommend this song if you love dorian as much as i do!!
