Hi hi hiiiiiiiiii aaaaaaall so I don’t really have a good introduction, mainly because I go by nicknames… aahahhhhh lol but I’m an 18+ F (very gender apathetic tho) looking for other 18+ ppl who wanna RP some dark shyieeeeeet.

So I do have a few expectations for my RP partners that I hope aren’t too much!!

-pls be kind and patient

-I would like a mini paragraph, so like 10 lines tops (but it’s also cool if you can do more)

-communicate with me, even if it’s just a little bit!! I promise im friendly, just a little shy and awkward!

-I really only RP OC x CC, it’s just what I’m comfortable with :p I also only do doubles since it’s fair and I’m a people pleaser-

-you might have to be comfortable with a few dark themes (ofc tell me your limits and stuff! I have limits too, and I want us both to be comfortable!)

Now here’s what you’ll be expecting from me:

-there’s a slight probability I might make art of your OC’s XD

-I make 1x1 RP servers on Discord (it’s easier to manage that way :3)

-I might be a little nervous at first, that’s because I don’t often RP with other people (I’ve had too many bad experiences in the past)

-I DONT MASK ON THE INTERNET🗣️🗣️ I’m sorry, I might come off as a little too muchhh😖

-I might go a bit overboard with my responses, idk if that’ll be a good thing with you or not but don’t worry about giving me a really detailed response!!

Something I’ve been wanting to RP for some time now:

Fallout4 (this one will have plenty of dark themes, it’s Fallout after all! I’d like it if my partner could play as Paladin Danse :3)

Call of Cthulhu (this one will also have plenty of dark themes, because of Call of Cthulhu ofc! I’d like it if my partner could play as Edward Pierce)

Infamous (this one probably won’t be as dark as the others, but still contains some themes. I’d like it if my partner could play as Cole MacGrath)

Bioshock Infinite: Burial At Sea (This one will also ofc contain plenty of dark themes since it’s Bioshock! I’d like it if my partner could play as Booker DeWitt)

Assassin’s Creed (this one won’t be as dark as the other ones, but still will contain themes!! I’d like it if my partner could play as Shay Cormac, Alexios/Kassandra, whichever one they’d like :3)

In retrospect, one of my big complaints about D&D 5e is that while it is a good system if you want a very casual dungeon delving experience, it also tried to stretch itself too thin and be a Universal Storytelling System when it was really... not.

Ignoring that WotC's sourcebooks and campaign modules always feel underbaked, about half of them feel like they would benefit from being ported to other ttrpg systems. Curse of Strahd desperately wishes it were in actual horror system, like Call of Cthulu or Bluebeard's Brides. But instead it's a D&D 5e game. So it ends up feeling incredibly halfassed. Especially once the characters reach Level 5+ and can whammy most combat encounters.

The Wild Beyond the Witchlight campaign advertizes itself as an exploration/roleplay heavy game with a great focus on whimsy and lighthearted atmosphere. Which is admitedly a very nice change of pace from the kinds of game's you normally get out of D&D. But the problem is that it's still attached to the 5e system. Which is like. At least 75% rules for combat and loot. So there's no interesting mechanics to work with for a game without those things.

Those are just two of the biggest examples I can think of. I'm sure others have had similar experiences. Idk I have a lot of other criticisms of the system. But I don't want to make this post super long. So i might just make a little series of these.

And have a way of doing it so we can both be self indulgent with canon characters HDKFJ and obvi Ide love to do creepypasta/slenderverse ! I’ve had most experience with slenderverse/writing habit esp but am happy with writing (almost?)any, but I fully admit I may be rusty with most characters. My characters playing TTRPGS (as someone who knows a few of them):

Chiasa would probably like a game like Wanderhome, where you aren't expected to fight monsters, and everything is based on how you interact with others.

Iyana would really like pathfinder's crunchiness, especially with the alchemist class: she loves the idea of being able to make potions for all kinds of things.

Oisin would prefer Vampire the Masquerade: he's a sucker for the vampire aesthetic, and finds the darker themes fascinating. He also gets to kill rich people and the English.

Apollo would be a total rules lawyer, and would suprisingly be a fan of the Call of Cthulu games - because he likes the 1920s aesthetic and atleast there everything weird is considered fucking weird.

Simon would like the Spirit of the Five rings, which is a somewhat crunchy game set in fantasy edo japan, and is built around japanese values.

Rauru would prefer a rules-light game with a naturalistic fantasy such as Quest, where he doesn't have to keep track of alot, and can just prefer to tell a story with friends.

Rowan would like the Vaesen RPG, because of the curious setting and the focus on mythical creatures and how you can't just slay most of them.

Waka probably wouldn't really understand the fun of tabletop roleplaying games: he has enough fantasy in his own life.

Chthulu mythos: interstellar pilgrimages?

There are quite a few stories of human sorcerors in the mythos travelling to other planets?

Why not the other way around for a good twist and a way to give players something completely new to go up against?

What sort of shenanigans could happen if an alien sorcerer or scientist (or worse a whole bunch of them) comes to earth out of interest in one of the horrors that call it home.

Its a way to add a “non-ancient” threat other than the mi-go to the mix.

Hey everyone!

Things are still pretty slow over here but I did manage to put some time into making another monster pack this week!

With the release of the Lovecraft assets I did recently I knew I needed to do some monsters to go with it, after all, quite a few people play games like Call of Cthulu so I wanted to show the horror side of roleplaying a little bit of love! So here we are the free pack of Eldritch Horror creatures! This pack contains a host of creepy, deadly and alien-looking monsters to terrify your players with! I personally really like the spawns :P

I tried to do the best I could with these even though I’m not an expert on Lovecraftian lore or anything/ But I will be making a complete pack for these with a few adjustments and changes provided by the Otter Lord, Gextroll on Discord :)

What is Grian lore and where the hell do I start with it? I’ve been watching s7 of hermitcraft and I had no idea there was lore,,,,,,

Grian has been involved in... a.. LOT.. of series. So Grian Lore is a combination of three (or four if you’re able to stomach one but i refuse to talk about it) Minecraft roleplays, and one SMP before Hermitcraft.

Grian, the Minecraft persona, has a LOT of lore because of all this so..

Yandere: A prequel series to Yandere High School. Grian is 6-7 in preschool because his parents were having a divorce and,, uh. just sent him to Japan and didn’t wanna deal with him

Yandere High School: Grian comes back to Japan, to visit his friends Sam and Taurtis. He promptly gets scared off but agrees to come back for Halloween, against his better judgment. He comes back for Halloween, and it is then that Sam stabs Taurtis. In disbelief and refusal to admit what he’s done, he forces Grian to dress up as Taurtis. Sam makes him eat plastic, and says “if you’re not taurtis, you’re nothing!” and basically spends days calling Grian worthless and a disappointment. Meanwhile, Grian doesn’t know if the real Taurtis is alive or dead. During this time he’s also threatened at knifepoint whenever he says he’s not Taurtis.

A lot more happens in Yandere High School, Tokyo Soul (Season 2) and Yandere (Prequel), but in short some events include: -Being held hostage in Japan by his two childhood friends -His parents abandoning him basically since the age of 6 -Dating a non-binary fortune teller cryptid lad for a while and gets in a knife fight for them -Joined a gang -Was forced to become the identity of someone else Sam attacked and actually killed -Haunted by the ghost of Sam and Taurtis’ dead teacher that tried to hang them -Kills like. Four people -Joined witness protection program with the other two (+ Dom. Dom’s awesome). Was shipped off to the wrong country but Sam made him come back -Said he’s “more into dudes” because of his escapade with Ellen, the non-binary datemate of his from the previous season -Sacrificed someone to like a ghost or demon or something that was possessing a costco -Got possessed by a demonic book -Helped cause the end of the world -Became an immortal, unkillable entity with him, Taurtis, and Sam being the only survivors of the destruction of their world. Spared by Cthulu, who Taurtis’ rejected clone had summoned, they were gifted immortality and their house floating on a chunk of land remains the only proof of life in their universe.

And then there’s EVO.. which is an SMP that Grian started previous to being invited to Hermitcraft. It started in like,, basically, the earliest version of Minecraft that allowed servers to be created.

Entities called Watchers left clues around the world that would lead the Evolutionists to a portal to go to a newer version of Minecraft. After around,, 50ish episodes I believe, when the Evolutionists got to the update when the End was added, they went to attack the dragon. Grian was separated from the rest of his friends and had to defeat the dragon by himself. When he hopped through the portal, he joined the ranks of the Watchers and that was his departure from Evo. Joining the ranks of the demi-god like creatures.

So yeah grian lore runs fucking DEEP and my friend and I need to get back to writing the PowerPoint presentation for Grian Lore™

Discovered “Yogsquest” on Youtube recently, which is Yogscast (Lewis+Simon/BlueXephos of oldschool Minecraft fame) roleplaying games, and you know I’ve always loved the DnD lore books I would find at bookstores but was turned off from actually playing the game due to its reputation as “complex,” “boring” and “containing math.” After listening some Yogsquest I have concluded that DnD sounds like a shit ton of fun

Also that other roleplaying game I never heard about, Call of Cthulu? Fucking great. I could listen to this shit for hours. It’s DnD but horror genre instead of fantasy-adventure. There’s eldritch abominations and creepy weird Nightvale shit. I love it

Tabletop Vent  :V

>:V For the last several years. I’ve tried to get friends into tabletop roleplaying games.  So far, D&D.  Good. Nice.  Lot of fun. Made some great memories. 

...its 2020.  I’ve been playing since 3.5.  

I have Monster of the week.  Nobodys interested. “Its not D&D!” “I don’t like having that much power in my choices”  (fucking what)

I got Starfinder.  “Its not D&D!”  “The character sheets are too complicated!”  “Oh my god what is the starship character sheet even doing?”  “Its just D&D in space anyway!”    (Side note, when I brought up spelljammer. They were less than thrilled. ...Like fucking what?)

I got “For the Dungeon!” another powered by the apocalypse system game.  ...its not D&D.

Got the expansion for Monster of the week.  yeah still no bites.  

I wanted to pick up mouseguard because that seemed like fun.  But now I am hearing every time I pick up a new/old system.  “Its not D&D. Buy that new D&D book.”  which I do anway.

I wanted to try get Call of Cthulu.  Well its not D&D and it is pretty “Losing is fun!” kind of game.  ...Players are not interested.   

I got Little Fears.   Well.  One player sounded interested since I can take basically all our collective childhood trauma and turn it into a monster to fight but well.  

.....not Dungeons and fucking Dragons.

I was tempted to get into Shadowrun but well. Good setting, great classes, good story potential.  problem, mechanics and ruleset are the most garbage thing that even shadowrun players admit is the part of the game thats not good.  ...the backbone.  Also what is with multiple dice for skill checks.  At one point I had 14 D6′s to check for one roll.   AUGH.  

I wanted to get Deadlands,  Big Eyes Small Mouth, Fates system, Rogue Trader,  Fantasy Age, Mutants and Masterminds, so many powered by the apocalypse games! (the simplicity of relying on two D6′s really sells it to me)

V:< The thing is. I still love D&D.  I still enjoy making campaigns and building worlds and crack magic items and goblin wizard butler secretly trying to usurp the major god that broke and ate all but two of the goblinoids pantheon by becoming a deity themselves or resurrecting one. (Its going well)

I am just really. Really. Fatigued.  by constantly running a game.  For once I want to run a new system.      

Am tired.

hey i was wondering, have you ever tried out dnd? idk it seems like to me with all the character creation and roleplaying it involves, it would b RIGHT up your alley

boy have I!!! Several times!!!!! I like roleplaying with my friends a lot, but DnD can actually be kind of difficult for me because of how many granular rules there are. I’ve had a much easier time playing FATE Core and Call of Cthulu, which have more….idk how to put it, generalized rulesets I guess? Anyways, yeah!

you didnt ask but just for funsies, here’s all the tabletop rpg characters Ive had and like, actually used for more than one session:

she’s large…she’s mildly confused……she was literally raised by wolves…..and that’s it baybey!!!! basically the first dnd character I ever made that wasnt 100% a joke

2. Osulf

Didnt really get to play this fella much but I’ll cherish him always. DnD again. My DM let me harness my Norse Mythology hyperfixation at the time, and he’s an Aasimar Paladin (..oath I think?? fjjdjf its been a long time) who’s dad is!! Heimdall!!!!!!! His mom is a super cool druid, and he was sent on a magical destiny quest by Yggdrasil, which embedded some bark in his jaw. He’s a big nerd and also a furry and he’s doing his best and I love him!!!!!
