Hi I was just reading some old post and I just stumbled across the fact John Fox apparently not only Wally descendant but Kyle also???, where the fuck is that imply or said or even hinted at? cause that kinda hilarious.
@givemewallywestorgivemedeath will probably have more information, but it was established in Justice League One Million, apparently. They told me that ages and ages ago, but I still haven't gotten around to reading it (rip), so I don't have any panels or screenshots to share.
Though if Kyle's gonna ever have kids, the writers need to get on that. Someone's gotta break the curse dooming all that man's canonical love interests or we're never gonna get John Fox or Cary Wren. And if Jenni doesn't get her Lantern buddy, I'm going to be very sad.

Wisdom Teeth Poly Losers HCs
I got my wisdom teeth out recently and :)) I am in so much pain bc what was suppose to be a simple surgery turned into fuck shit bc ofc I had to have complicated teeth :))) my bottom teeth were on my nerve line and the dentist didn't realize this until they were pulling my bottom teeth out- I was awake too, just numb :) anyways enjoy some headcannons for what I think would happen with the Losers getting their wisdom teeth out
So this is set in my Poly losers universe and when they're young adults most of the losers have to get their wisdom teeth removed
The exceptions are Richie because his dad was a dentist so he had them removed in high school and also Eddie because of his mom
Eddie didn't even need his removed but of course his mom had them done anyways :/ I think also because of her he had them removed first, a year or so before Richie
This leaves Mike, Stan, Bev, Ben, and Bill who needs to get their removed
What prompts this is Bill, who a tooth ache and refused to go the dentist. Due to his parent's neglect he never really went to the dentist so he doesn't see why he has to go now
It takes Eddie threatening to forcefully drag Bill there himself for him to finally go
And yes Eddie goes with Bill and yes Eddie holds his hand during the appointment because Bill won't admit it but he's a little scared of those tools
Turns out one of Bill's wisdom teeth are infected and need to removed asap
So when they get home to discuss scheduling Bill's surgery with the others, Bill's worried and Mike being Mike graciously mentions how he still needs to get his removed to agrees to do it with Bill
This gives Stan the idea that- Hey they're starting to have a bit of extra income, might as well go get everyone else's done too
They're going to have Mike and Bill go first and then the next weekend Bev and Ben and THEN Stan will go
There's no reason he decided he would go last
Any who Bill and Mike's surgery happens and Bill is the BIGGEST BABY who clings to Mike the moment they get in the car
They're both drugged up and Mike goes to kiss Bill bc 'oh no his baby' and poor Ben has to get into the back between Mike and Bill to keep them from accidently hurting themselves
Bill and Mike just both end up clinging to Ben and the moment they get home won't let Ben leave them
They both proceed to pass out on Ben on the couch
Ben doesn't mind
Also I love the idea of Richie spoon feeding Mike and Bill with mocking pouty faces and going like 'Oooo does Billy Willy and Mikey Wikey hurt?'
Mike laughs (the best that he can) at Richie and Bill throws a pillow at him
He misses
Otherwise Mike and Bill heal up with little complications- Thanks to Stan and Eddie, and neither of them mind eating junk food like smoothing and apple sauce for a couple days
Oh also Bill ended having to braces a couple weeks after his surgery because he never got them in his teens and turns out he needed them- he's very upset about it
You can take the headcannon of young adult Bill with braces from my cold dead fists
The next weekend it's Ben and Bev's turn
Knowing what happened with Bill and Mike, after the surgery Bev and Ben ride home in separate cars
Richie rides in the back with Bev in the car she's in and drugged up Bev is OBSESSED with Richie's hair
Like she can't stop herself from running her hand through it and tugging on the curls
Richie finds this hilarious
Meanwhile Ben gets nauseous from the pain medicine :( bb is not having a good time and rides with his head in Bill's lap
But it turns out Ben probably has the easiest recovery of them all bc the next day he feels completely fine and can act like normal- aside from his mushy diet but he was already a big smoothie guy anyways
Poor Bev suffers
She's a texture person when it comes to food and Stan and Eddie has to fight to keep her from eating the wrong things bc she keeps trying to rush the healing process
The next week is worst than the actual surgery for her
The moment she gets the okay she can eat like normal though, all the Losers work together to cook her her favorite meal
And by all the Losers I mean Ben and Mike while the others help
Also she had to quit smoking during her heal week and that was absolute hell so she was very grouchy
Everyone- even Eddie- was happy when she got to light up again
Then it's Stan's turn for him to get his teeth out
He's very calm and composed and he trusts Eddie to take care of him since its Eddie and he's been helping Stan take care of the others
Turns out Stan's teeth are impacted which means a big ouch
But he's Stan and he'll be damned with unnecessary teeth are going to break him
He actually manages to sleep the whole way back and barely wakes up when Eddie changes his gauze- he goes back to sleep and sleeps till the next day
And then the next day he is in absolute pain and its like the pain meds aren't even working
He won't tell the Losers but they know. They all stick close by, particularly Richie and Bill since they both don't have day jobs
They know Stan is in pain because he actually allows the two dufoses to cuddle him in his bed- and he's usually not a cuddly guy
If one of them have to get up there's a Loser ready to replace them
Mike makes sure the mushy food Stan eats is till kosher <3
Stan very much loves his Losers bc he didn't have to say how much pain he was in, they just knew
Okay that's all, yes I know there's spelling/grammar errors. I'm in pain and on pain pills, whadda want from me?

I wanna hear you talk more about Cody because he makes me insane.
Anon, I would LOVE to talk about Cody. He makes me insane too, he's been one of my favorite pnat characters since I first got into the comic (he was my ultimate favorite until Violet shoved him out of that spot a few months later). Putting all of this under a Read More because it got to be a LOT
It's hard to say what his initial appeal for me was. I think I mostly loved his whole theme of masks and actors and mysteries! The school store scene and its surrounding scenes was my favorite part of pnat basically from the moment I first saw it, and I was DELIGHTED to find out that all of these background characters had insane, hidden depth to them. Cody was especially delightful because him being a dhampir is a crazier fucking reveal than even the school store's existence itself, and once that was revealed it was like a layer of his character had been peeled away. Suddenly his status as the nice, responsible boy was turned on its head, revealing an underlying personality that's a million times more jaded and hurt than was ever previously comprehensible and FUCK it was just so!! Good!! I don't think it was ever about him being a monster, I think it was about the reveal and the intrigue.
I've always loved digging into his character. Before Chapter 8, Chapter 5 was the majority of what we had to go off of for his characterization, and what was in Chapter 5 was already a goddamn goldmine of information. There's a reason why Chapter 5 is my favorite pnat chapter (though my favorite page in the whole comic is in Chaper 4 lmao)!
In the centuries-old past of late 2020, your local weirdo Junk was incapable of separating Cody and Violet from each other in aus, analyses, headcanons, etc. They used to be tied for my favorite character, and it was because I was (and still am) fascinated by their dynamic, the way their respective complexes and insecurities and emotional walls cause problems for them... their argument in Chapter 5 was my favorite scene-within-a-scene for a very long time. All this to say that there's a reason I keep bringing up Violet in a post about Cody; it's still really hard for me to consider one without the other. I love the way they're both protectors (knighthood theming goes crazy in this comic), and I love the way they differ so fundamentally in why they're protectors and how they approach that sense of protectiveness. I love the way Cody jumps to revenge during the Hijeff situation, and I love the way Violet counters that with appalled confusion.
God, can we talk about the revenge thing? The way Cody behaves is fascinating. He's very clearly picked up certain behaviors from his dad, but he thinks that makes him some sort of evil rather than understanding that everyone is a product of their environment. Compared to his dad he's just so... fundamentally kind, with his heart in the right place, but he can't see that because he's 12 years old, in a horrible situation with a horrible parent, and a complicated social situation at school and and-
I'm really glad that he has nice things he can cling to. I can't imagine the nightmare it must be to live in that house. He's got fun clothes he can wear at home on the weekend, he gets to go over to Jeff's house, and those might seem like small victories but they are still victories. I really hope he gets out of there soon. Jesus Christ
Oh oh oh, let's talk about fancontent! I'm going to talk about my own stuff, because there are a lot of very old ideas that will probably never see the light of day otherwise. In the post I'm assuming you came from, anon, I mentioned how I'd mischaracterized my way into the right characterization, and by that I mean both my earliest and most recent interpretations of him really played up his cutesy, smiley demeanor. Very anime girl esque vibe, very over exaggerated movements, very 'actor in a play' type energy. I would often come up with au's that would shove him into some sort of magical girl role, often paired with a healthy amount of body horror for the tonal dissonance. It was, of course, also an excuse to put him in cute, fun outfits. To this day I struggle to draw him in normal outfits that don't make him look like the leader of a magical girl. (If you want a funtastic magical girl au that was actually made for me, check out astralibrary's AU over here.) One of my favorite au's I've ever made was one in which Cody was a magical warrior from another world who fell through a portal and ended up in an ordinary, spirit-free Mayview, where he then had to rely on Violet to get him through the day normal-guy-style. Looking back it's one of my favorite au's in part BECAUSE it involves so many shenanigans revolving around Cody trying to be normal and failing miserably. I believe it to be accurate to canon LMAO
I have so much more I could say about him but I think I've hit the point where I can't put my thoughts into words. To wrap it up, here's a compilation of my favorite Cody panels and bits of official art;
Tumblr media
^Chapter 8 Page 44!!
Tumblr media
^Chapter 5 Page 44!!
Tumblr media
^Chapter 5 Page 58!! I love the way the blur makes his ear look pointy!! You can even see his fangs, a bit!!
Tumblr media
^Chapter 5 Page 57!! I love Zack's expressions for him so much
Tumblr media
^Chapter 5 Page 165!! "So embarassing", he says, as if he isn't VERY invested
Tumblr media
^Chapter 5 Page 167!! Top ten panels that permanently altered my brain chemistry
Tumblr media
^Chapter 5 Page 283!! This panel made me nauseous the first time I saw it. Kill your dad, Cody
Tumblr media
^Chapter 1 Page 33!! A classic. I love his Chapter 1 look a lot. I love how he's climbing on his chair/desk
Tumblr media
^I have an emotional attachment to his old cast page photo.
Tumblr media
^CHAPTER 5 PAGE 48. This panel inspired the tiger spectral cody au (not my au, if you haven't heard of it before), and thus made me insane
I think I might have hit the image limit. I got carried away. Here are the honorable mention pages
Anyways. Thank you, anon, for giving me an excuse to go absolutely insane about Cody. I did NOT know this post was going to get THIS long, but once I started it was like I couldn't stop LMAO. I hope you enjoy this thought dump, feel free to send in more asks if you want to ask about something specific/want more lovingly crafted Cody content. If I ever manage to upload a fic to Ao3 with Cody in it, it'll be dedicated to you in the author's notes or something LMAO

Rowing the Rarepair Rowboat: Carenzo | Caroline Forbes x Enzo St. John (The Vampire Diaries)
"Thinking of jumping down and trying to walk across it?" Enzo asks from Caroline's right, sitting beside her on the stairwell. His tone is light, joking, one that she hadn't quite realized she'd missed all these months they've spent apart.
She sniffs, sucking in a deep breath that only makes her chest hurt, and lifts her head up. She keeps her eyes straight ahead, staring at the buildings stretching out in front of her as far as she can see before the snow makes it impossible.
"The thought crossed my mind," she admits, cracking a slight smile. "With vamp speed, we could probably get to the airport just in time. Compel a pilot if the flight's cancelled." She looks at him, blinking once or twice to see him better as she pulls a teasing look, nudging his shoulder. "Or we could just get you to fly it, Captain Lorenzo."
Enzo chuckles at the emphasis she puts on his name. It eases a little bit of the twisting in her stomach, her smile a little more genuine as she watches him duck his head for a moment.
"I actually didn't go by my right name back then," he tells her, and she raises her eyebrows, but he shakes it off. His eyes and his smile turns sad as he gazes at her. "I'm sorry about all of this, Caroline. I know you wanted to be on that flight."
She did. She needed to be on it. Lizzie and Josie are counting on her. Were counting on her, and now she's probably going to have to let them down. Again. She had told herself she would be there, especially after everything that's happened with them lately.
"It just wasn't supposed to be like this," she says, shaking her head. "I was only supposed to be gone a few months. I wasn't—wasn't supposed to miss Christmas, or their birthday, or—"
She clamps her mouth shut, her throat aching like it's made of sandpaper.
"I just wanted to be there."
There are only so many holidays she's going to get with them. Even without the merge, she was always going to outlive them, and she's hated the thought since the day they were born. But it's so much worse now.
"They have six years left," she says quietly, her voice shaking and her chin wobbling. "And I am running out of options. I just—I just wanted to be there, you know? For one day, at least. To see their faces light up. To watch them just be happy, without having to worry about any of this, to just—to just be there with them, as a family, and I—I just wish I had my mom because I am so lost and I don't know what I'm supposed to do."
She breaks down completely, sobs racking her body in a matter of seconds. Enzo's quick to pull her in, his arms wrapping around her as she closes her eyes against the tears and all of it. It's too much, too overwhelming. Everything hurts too much and she hates it, and why does this keep happening? Why can't something just go the way it was supposed to, why can't she be allowed to be happy?
"It's alright," Enzo murmurs into her hair, one hand stroking her back, her face buried in his chest and hands clinging to him. His voice cracks ever so slightly, and he tries to clear it. "Let it all out, sweetheart. I'm not going anywhere."
She can't begin to express how much relief the last part brings her, even if it fills her with so much dread as well. Everyone who promises they aren't leaving her finds a way in the end. Even the immortal ones. She just hugs him tighter, letting herself believe it for this one moment, because she needs this. She needs him.
They just sit there. She doesn't know for how long, but Enzo never once stops talking to her, his voice soft and soothing. Slowly, the bubbling of pain and guilt and too many other things that are tearing her apart from the inside starts to ease until it's a gentle simmering. Her sobs turn to sniffles, the tears eventually dry, the shaking in her body turns to shivers.
Enzo pauses, and she can't see him but she can feel his chin move from her head and assumes he's looking at her. "Cold?" he asks her with concern in his voice.
Caroline huffs out a soft laugh that holds the smallest fragment of humour. "Freezing. So much for vampires being immune to everything."
Enzo chuckles along with her, one of his hands moving to her arm, rubbing through her thin coat. She curls in closer to him.
"We still function as humans," he reminds her. "Even we're not immune to frostbite. Immune to dying from it, yes, but getting all of the symptoms of it where our hands go numb and can't move? Unfortunately, no. Probably not the best idea to be sitting outside in the coldest weather of the century."
Caroline hums her agreement. Her throat is still aching, rubbing raw every time she talks.
"Here."
She feels Enzo move again and pulls back slightly to look at him. Her eyebrows furrow in confusion as he produces a scarf seemingly out of nowhere.
"When you came up here, I was going to follow you but figured you'd end up on the balcony in our room," he explains as he winds it around her neck, adjusting it to wrap it around and back down. "But then I remembered the key, and I saw the door coming out here open. You've always had a thing for being outside when you're upset."
Despite all of the crumbled, broken pieces inside of her, she smiles a little. He pauses, checking to make sure the scarf looks okay. She just gazes at him as he gently moves a few strands of her hair until he pulls his hand back. Alarm rises in her as he begins slipping his arm out of his own jacket.
"What are you doing?" she asks him as he takes it off.
"You need it more than I do," he simply says.
Caroline starts to protest, but he's already wrapping it around her shoulders, seemingly unfazed that he's now sitting in the middle of a snowstorm in nothing thicker than a flimsy long-sleeved t-shirt.
"But you just said—"
"Darling, I meant you're not immune to the cold," he cuts her off, shaking his head. He has a faint smile as he adjusts the jacket, pulling it closed around her. "I've endured much worse than a chill. Trust me, I'm perfectly fine. I can barely feel it anymore."
Caroline's heart sinks. It always does when she knows he's referencing his past in Augustine but trying to veer around actually saying it. She watches his face as he continues playing with the jacket, and then the scarf, making sure they're both just right enough to keep her warm.
"I'm glad you're here," she tells him softly, making his hand falter and his eyes move back up to hers. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
"You would get through this," he says, completely serious and sincere. His hand is still hovering next to her, a few strands of hair between his fingers. "You would be upset, but you would pull yourself together, and you would find a way to get on that plane. Even if it meant you had to march right through this snow and demand that the plane takes off otherwise you'll fly it yourself if you have to."
Caroline can't help but laugh softly at his exaggerated tone, his intentions clearly to make her do just that as his eyes sparkle with a flicker of happiness. She knows he's right, of course. It would feel so much harder if she was here all alone, stranded with little hope of getting home, but she wouldn't stop trying to find a way to make it happen.
She sighs, wiping her eyes, feeling the dried tracks on her cheeks. "Well, it's a good thing you're here then, because putting me in control of a plane definitely wouldn't get us home."
"Nonsense," Enzo says, grinning, wrapping an arm back around her shoulders. "You'd make a damn good pilot. With some supervision."
"Oh, high praise from an ex-captain," she jokes, then pauses. "It is ex-captain, right?"
Enzo nods. "Yes. That whole part of my life is in the past."
Caroline just nods back as he shifts to lean against the wall behind him, pulling her closer. She settles against his side, tucked under his arm, her head on his shoulder. There's no hope of the snow stopping any time soon, and by the looks of it, they don't have much of a reason to be in any rush anymore.
A beat passes, silence falling over them like the snow blankets the ground. She listens to the beating of his heart as her own finally slows back to an even pace, the anger and frustration and guilt seeping out of her, leaving her nothing but exhausted.
"Can I at least ask what your alias was?" she asks softly, her curiosity poking at her as she looks up at him with a slight raise of her eyebrows.
Enzo glances at her, then smiles.
"Michael Quinn," he answers with a strange raise in his accent, slipping from the gruff, charming British one she's used to, to a slightly softer American one.
He gives a laugh at her obvious surprise and confusion, and his voice goes back to normal.
"I adopted a completely different identity back then. Faked an accent, pretended to be American. It was easier to blend in."
"That makes sense," Caroline agrees, but can't quite wrap her head around the idea of an American Enzo, even if just for an act.
"I started off a pilot in '42, because of World War One," he continues, to her surprise. "By '52, I was made a Captain of the US Air Force. I ended up working with the government. Shocker, I know."
Caroline's definitely thrown, that's for sure. "I thought you weren't allowed to talk about this?" she questions.
"Well, considering all of the people I worked with back then are more than likely dead now, I think I'm safe," Enzo says, shrugging.
Caroline nods slowly. His logic makes sense. And if he thinks it's safe to talk about then who is she to argue? It's not as if she wouldn't like to know more about this secret part of his past.
"So, the government?" she asks, twisting around in his arms and resting her chin on his shoulder. "What, did they have some shady secrets? Oh, did it involve alien conspiracies? Please, Captain Quinn, tell me this story has aliens."
Enzo laughs, and it makes her feel a little more at home for a brief moment. This storm will pass, she thinks. In all senses.
She'll call Alaric, somehow, and let him know what's going on if he hasn't already been filled in. They'll work something out. She will find a way back to Mystic Falls, even if she does have to compel someone to fly them home.

Gotham’s weather was sunny for what felt like the first time in years. Dick Grayson was, as any nine year old would be, exceptionally overjoyed by this fact. It had been raining most of the week, and if it wasn’t raining, the sky had been covered in a thick layer of gray clouds. Today, however, the sun shone brightly, and there was save but a few puffy white clouds dotting the otherwise clear sky.
The only thing that could have made today better would have been if Bruce were able to be off of work today, but alas, there was a very important meeting to be attended. Lucious had made it very clear that Bruce could not miss it. That didn’t make Dick feel much better about the whole ordeal.
“Alfred?” Dick finally asks, after almost an hour of staring out the window longingly. “Do you think we could go to the city today?”
Alfred looks over, raising an eyebrow as he dusts the mantlepiece. “I don’t suppose I can think of any reason we couldn’t,” He hums. “Any particular reason?”
“Well,” Dick clears his throat, standing up. “I just thought, maybe we could… go somewhere? I’m bored, and Bruce is at his meeting.”
Alfred thinks for a moment, giving a slow nod. “How about the park then, hm? Let me finish dusting first.”
Dick rolls his eyes, but he nods anyways. If there was a spec of dust on that mantlepiece, he would give every last one of his stuffed animals away. He heads up the stairs, figuring he’d better get his shoes and jacket while he waited.
Half an hour later, and Dick is sitting in the middle seat of the limo, looking out through the tinted windows at the buildings that they pass. Alfred parks the car by the park, and Dick slides out, looking around. There were a few other kids around, spread across the playground. Dick turns to Alfred, who gives a nod.
Dick takes off onto the playground, not hesitating in the slightest. He goes down the slide a few times, does a few flips on the monkey bars, and even manages to make friends with a slightly younger boy named John. John has to leave not much longer though, and Dick is faced with the sad reality that he will probably never see his newfound friend again. He doesn’t mourn the loss for long though, getting distracted by a white butterfly.
Dick follows the butterfly all the way across the park, and promptly across the street. He keeps following the small butterfly until it disappears over the top of a building. Dick sighs in disappointment, turning around to go back to the park once again.
The only issue was that Dick could no longer see the park.
“Uh oh…” Dick frowns. That wasn’t a good sign. He takes a step back, biting his lip as he tries to remember which way he’d come, but he wasn’t having much luck.
Dick is hit with the startling realization that he was alone on the streets of Gotham. Alfred was nowhere to be seen. Being out here felt much different when he wasn’t Robin, even if it was a bright sunny day.
Dick keeps walking, holding his breath as he does. Someone he recognizes is bound to show up eventually… right? That idea only seems to last for a good ten minutes before he realizes that it’s useless. He keeps walking anyway. Maybe he could find a phone somewhere? He had a few dollars in his pocket. He could go in and exchange one for a few quarters and make a call. If he could ever find a phone, that is.
Too focused on trying to find a phone, Dick doesn’t notice two men standing at the edge of an alley until one of them grabs him by the shoulder and shoves him into the alley. Wide eyed, Dick’s gaze snaps between the two of them, and three more men slink in from the shadows.
“Well well, if it ain’t the Wayne charity case,” One of them leans forward, and Dick recoils at the strong scent of whiskey coming off his breath.
“How much do you think he’s worth?” Another tosses a switchblade between their hands, and Dick takes a step back. He could fight back, maybe, but he didn’t have his suit, for starters, and he was still somewhat shocked by the confrontation in the first place.
“Oh, billions, I’m sure,” The first guy hums, setting a hand on Dick’s shoulder. Dick stiffens, but he finds he can’t move. He wanted to. He wanted to run, or to punch them, or do something, but he couldn’t seem to be able to force himself to do it. He just stands there.
“This circus brat?” A different guy huffs. “I bet the old man won’t even hardly look for him.”
The first guy gives a chuckle, leaning forward again, his face just a little too close for Dick’s comfort. “Maybe he won’t. Either way, couldn’t hurt to have a little fun, could it?”
Dick sucks in a sharp breath, backing away, only to bump right into another one of the other guys. He freezes, staring at the first guy with his eyes taking up the majority of his face. He wanted to say something, do something, anything. He couldn’t figure out how. He swallows as the guy behind him puts his hands on his shoulders to keep him in place.
The first guy steps just a little closer with a sloppy grin, putting his hand on Dick’s chin and lifting his face forward. He leans closer, closer, closer… and past Dick’s face. In fact, he entirely slumps down onto the ground. Dick blinks, looking over to see Alfred with a sharp frown as he quickly and efficiently takes out the rest of the group.
With the swiftness and grace that could only come with Alfred Pennyworth, there are five bodies on the ground surrounding Dick. After a moment of processing, Dick suddenly leaps at Alfred, burying his face in the man’s three piece suit as he clings onto the man like a lifeline. He doesn’t say anything, still in a bit of shock, but he lets out a quiet sob when he feels Alfred’s arms wrap around him.
“Master Dick, are you alright?” Alfred asks quietly, softly. Dick lets out a shaky breath, but he nods. That had been terrifying, but he was alright. He would be fine. Probably.
After a few minutes, Dick lets go. “Can we… Can we go home?” He asks, voice quivering.
“Of course,” Alfred nods, putting a hand behind Dick’s back as they walk out of the alley. “And Master Dick? I am quite proud of you.”
Dick pauses. “You are? But I- But I didn’t do anything.”
“I am. Although, perhaps next time we go to the park, it would be wise to not run away.”
Dick nods, agreeing whole heartedly. “I didn’t mean to… I was just following the butterfly.”
“I understand,” Alfred gives him a reassuring smile. “And we know not to follow butterflies now, don’t we?”
Dick nods, and the two of them continue on towards the car.

Karmiro Kiss
Tumblr media
https://www.deviantart.com/billiejean485/art/Karmiro-Kiss-800793669
(Text from DA:)
First of all, I'd like to state something: I don't usually upload art such as this often or at all, and I rarely even show it to anyone. Reason? Been bullied a hell of a lot for it in younger years, so I learned to keep things like these to myself. However, I am pretty sure the Karmiro fans would appreciate it, and I am having a really hard time finding artwork devoted to this ship myself (kudos to Iamaddictedtocoffee and KenKic4Ever - you guys are IMO the best I could find), and I honestly wanted to contribute.
Second thing I wanted to mention is that - although the show itself made me a huge Karmiro fan, this particular piece/sketch came as an inspiration from reading Arctimon's fics. My God - for the past 6 years I've been having a really hard time finding quality fanfics (I got older, and my standards became very high), and their in particular are among those rare that make me cling to it like an idiot, rereading it until I know it by heart (still in the process of achieving that btw XD). I haven't left a review yet, but, I can say here that that level of quality English, original ideas and great imagination is not something that you just stumble upon in the fan fiction world easily. I'm blown away. Still am. Still haven't read everything, so I won't drop that mentioned review yet. But, Arctimon, if you're reading this - you have my huge support, and I'm a really big fan.
Now on to the rant on the art aspect of this sketch.
I don't have much experience in drawing a kiss, and still learning to do that. What killed me even more here is just the position (that I probably didn't even figure out well) of the two - if you have that steamy kiss where both sides try to pull each other into it, and a couple with height differences between a girl and a boy such as Hiro and Karmi, everything gets complicated. The arm position is probably off (because yours truly was lazy enough not to reference anything). I hope at least I got their faces right - I haven't drawn either of the two enough for practice. Oh, and Karmi's hair was ridiculously difficult for me; it should be simple, but nope.
Ah, yes, and the Baymax sketch in the bg - the body probably should have been a bit bigger, but 'anatomy' wise I think it's okay. I just placed him in the wrong spot. And I have a feeling that it made perspective make no sense (he's speechless, btw XD).
Okay, and two last things.
I love the fact that Hiro is the shorter one in this relationship and is probably standing on his toes somewhat here, while Karmi has to bend down and/or pull him up. It's so relatable and heart-warming. :D I remember how all that went in those years of life (14~16). Wish we'll manage to see him grow, but who knows. Also, depends what Disney plans for the sequel of the movie, if they're even planning it (it got them an Oscar, so chances are high).
But one thing that saddens me in that is that - for most characters that appear in TV shows that are based on the movie there is like a rule that they don't appear in the movie's sequel. Which brings me to the second thing.
Even though I ship them with all my heart, I see little possibilities for these two to become something more than friends (there is more chance for that happening with Hiro and Megan, although the whole Karmutie stuff has led us on to believe otherwise up until she showed up). It seems as though Hiro and Karmi's relationship was made only to reach some "good friends" climax and that that's the whole point of it. Even Karmi's crush on hero-Hiro looks more like something that came as a product of her loneliness rather than actual need for a romantic interest in her life (I think she'd be a lot more invested in her relationship with 'Captain Cutie' if this wasn't the case). And when you take into account that this is a show aimed at kids... it all makes sense. Kids don't like romantic stuff, nor do they need it. But what do they need? Learning more about friendship, especially with that girl or boy they tend to fight a lot and don't get along well. It's a perfect reason to make you think that that there will never be anything more in this relationship. But it gets on our older fans' nerves because - naturally, the characters are not kids, they're teens. Things function differently here. I mean, okay - Karmi and Hiro may not be each other's type (debatable) in the end, but you can't tell me they don't care for each other at it's base, and that they will learn to get their rivalry out of the way to make a clear path for that. And when that happens, everything's possible.
But coming back to the first thing I brought up - the characters from the TV show rarely, if ever, make it to the sequel of the movie. Which means, whatever happens with these two, they will probably split up. It's saddening, and I wish things would change there. Hey, seeing Karmi in the sequel would make who knows how many of us happy. And not just her - bunch of other characters too. Or at least give them an honorable mention.
It's because TV shows get made for kids that nothing from it gets transferred to the sequel of the movie, which gets made for audiences of all ages. If there's something I wish would change, it's that - having TV shows dumbed down for kids. And with that I mean - seeing characters a lot older act like they're children. What the heck is that teaching the little kids? That reality will never be like they saw it on TV?
Kudos, and a really big KUDOS to the shows that are tackling this particular thing. It's good and it's healthy. If you wanna make something for kids, make it really appropriate for kids. Don't tug on the nerves of us older people, because - whatever the world says, there will always be those older ones that watch cartoons, ages ranging from older teens to who knows how old. We don't like watching those dumbed down things, no matter how profitable it is for you, content-makers, to target it only for kids, who will get you the most money. Yeah, it's harder to make such stuff, we know, but it's not impossible. At least show a little effort.
But, concerning that, I can't complain on BH6's TV show anymore. The second season was fantastic so far, and those 'dumbed-down' elements were reduced to the bare minimum. I just hope it stays that way.
... Well, this was a whole lot that came out of me just because of posting one silly fangirl drawing. XD Hope some of you actually managed to read this.... Too bad all of this is going to get dumped in the Scraps' section (please make a Sketch section, DA!), like most of my uploads do.
I live and breathe sketches. lol
Oh well - thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. XD I'm really done this time.
