AU-gust day 12

12 Aug 23 Book Store

“Why don’t you just ask him out already!” MC rolled her eyes at her co-worker Yoosung. The blond barely did any meaningful work when the red-head was in the book store.

“That would be unprofessional.” Yoosung tsked. He unboxed books and set them on the cart, but his amethyst eyes hardly left the other man as he made his way around the stacks.

Saeran was about the same height as Yoosung, red hair, gorgeous mint green eyes, and apparently a voracious reader. Some days he would spend hours searching for books and sitting in the in-store café reading and sipping tea. The man had a store card and Yoosung always made a point to try and be his cashier, making small talk.

He came in so often that just about every employee knew him. It was unthinkable that he could read so fast, but they had all been spellbound at how fast he turned the pages on whatever book he was reading. The subject matter was impressive as well. Anything from romance, the classics, mathematics, science, language, and manga. It didn’t seem to matter as long as he found it interesting.

The man was pulling books from the Fantasy section today, but so far he didn’t seem to have found anything worth reading.

“Why don’t you make a recommendation?” MC suggested.

“Huh?” Yoosung raised his eyebrows.

“Go on, I’ll finish this.” She took the stack of books from Yoosung and gave him a gentle push. He hesitated, then walked towards the red-head, smoothing his yellow hair.

“Uh, hey, can’t find anything you like?” he squeaked out. Clearing his throat he looked away, embarrassed.

“Seems like the same plot over and over.” Saeran shrugged, setting another book back on the shelf.

“Do you like a lot of action?” Yoosung asked, eyes lighting up.

“Yeah, dialogue too, not so much into an overabundance of scene descriptions.” He answered.

“Oh! Then you might like this new collection, it’s based off the video game LOLOL. I don’t know if you’ve played it but it’s pretty accurate to the lore. They use a lot of the same magic system. Of course they take a lot of liberty with the weapon mechanics but that’s to be expected.” He walked towards the section the books were in, turning his head to make sure the man was following. He tried to shut up, but word vomit just spewed out of him.

“Characterization is insane! I mean, there are a lot of recognizable NPC’s and they use some of the same dialogue as in the game, but, if you don’t play you still enjoy the interaction, I think it’s more for the players to find some nifty Easter eggs.” He laughed.

Saeran followed silently. Making Yoosung try and fill the silence. He felt like an idiot with his flapping tongue. Was he boring the man? Was he just being polite but wanting him to shut up already?

“Anyway, here it is.” He pulled the first book in the series and handed it to Saeran. On the cover was a wizard with his hand out, a fireball in his palm and holding an ornate staff in his other hand. The other man turned it and read the back quickly, then turned to the first page and began to read. Yoosung stood awkwardly, not sure what to do. Should he walk away?

After a very long minute Saeran looked up and smiled.

“Thank you, I think I will like this. Do you play this game?” he asked.

“Yes, I’m kind of addicted.” He laughed.

“Maybe I’ll try it.”

“You should! It’s totally fun, and even more fun with friends.” Yoosung gushed.

“Really? Hmm, maybe you could come over and help me.” Saeran said.

Yoosung’s tongue went dry. Did he really just ask that? His eyes went wide and suddenly he couldn’t speak.

“Sorry, I guess I overstepped, nevermind.” Saeran blushed and turned to grab volume two of the series.

“No! I…I mean…” Yoosung stammered, “I can totally do that! It’ll be fun.”

“Yeah?” Saeran turned back and beamed at him. “Can I get your number? I’ll call you when I get the game and I’m ready to set it up, is that OK?”

“Absolutely!” Yoosung took his phone out and opened it up as Saeran did the same, they exchanged numbers and an awkward goodbye.

Was it a date? Yoosung hoped so.

Funnily enough, I was responding to this from an anon when I got this. I finished posting the first answer, and saw it right back in my inbox lolol

So I guess I'll choose 5 more?

(For anyone interested: my previous response). That is ... a better list of responses tbh. I don't have that many palatable fics to rec.

So...This is list is going to be the more self-indulgent of the two. The vast majority of the fics on this list are going to be "because I wanted to" fics.

I'm going to start with the fic that I wrote when I discovered and jumped on the katamar bandwagon. I considered this my best One Piece fic for a while until I wrote Lex Talionis from the other rec list. I think I would rather re-read @touchmycoat's old katamar stories than my own most days, but I still really am quite fond of Help Me Doctor (I Have Sinned). Joining the OP fandom and especially exploring katamar content was honestly really important in my fandom journey, even if I didn't stick with it for that long comparatively. Contains graphically violent, explicit sexual content.

I am also going to add another One Piece fic to this list. Doctor's Orders was my first x reader fic and honestly one I come back to a lot. Devil fruit powers make omorashi even better, and Law is hot as heck. If this is my list of self-indulgence... well. I cannot imagine a more self-indulgent fic. Contains graphic sexual content, water sports/wetting/omorashi.

"I cannot imagine a more self-indulgent fic" this isn't exactly true. Seek and Ye Shall Find was pretty self-indulgent, and isn't even explicit! This was my Yu-Gi-Oh/One Piece crossover fic whose goal was a conversation that I sort of... fucked up by making the characters meant to converse into immediate enemies. I got too far away from the barely-existent plan I had for myself, then lost interest in writing it altogether... so it sits in unfinished glory. I'd love to come back to this someday, if only to read what I come up with to resolve and end it.

I think my best yuumori fic is probably Malafide (which I literally forget exists all the time because I just... don't think about myself as writing sherliam and so it gets tucked in some dusty part of my brain until someone comments on it or I go through all my fics and see it.) And I wrote it set in New York, before reading that part of the manga. Sherlock's characterization especially is probably a good portion ACD Holmes instead just because I was reading/exploring that in the absence of legally available yuumori chapters. Regardless, I like the emotional beats for the story, I feel like it says something beyond simple self-indulgence. It instead belongs to the self-indulgence rec list because I put too much of me in it, much like Basil Hallward's painting. Contains descriptions of drug use & self-harm.

I'm going to finalize this list with something old. Big Sausage Pizza is just a short Yu-Gi-Oh! one shot I wrote while enjoying the power to put Explicit things on the internet via AO3. It's one of the first things I posted to my account, and ngl I think the reason I still rec it has to do with my fiance's reaction to it when I showed it to him. I think I wouldn't hold it in such high estimation if I hadn't seen it resonate with someone. I guess I imagined what not-straight straight guys do as teenagers pretty accurately 😅. Contains explicit sexual content involving teenagers.

Picking up gofushi crumbs from the manga

Disclaimer: Beware of anime/manga spoilers. This is just me commenting on the manga with the lenses of a gofushi fan. So, it’s just my opinion...

This section runs from Vol. 0 - Chapter 1 to Volume 1- Chapter 5.

About gofushi dynamic, mind reading, protectiveness and others.

(Volume 0) Chapter 1

Not gofushi centric, but it would go well with a Hanahaki AU. For Gojou to call it a personal theory, it seems to me like he has knowledge about it or given it some thought already. Why is that? What prompted him to consider that love is the most twisted curse?

I recall some fan theories mentioning that love can then become a way for Gojou to be wounded... it truly makes it seem more likely for hanahaki to appear.

Chapter 1

I love how the manga starts with the two of them talking on the phone~ Also, my thoughts before shipping them... "wow, does that person on the phone like to bully him? Dunno if I like bullies lolol but also Fushiguro seems to have a bad mood too." and "This Fushiguro guy seems so on edge everytime (throughout chapter 1)".

Chapter 2

Gojou taking pictures of Megumi... I wonder if he keeps a file with his pics? XD The first time I read it, I thought: “How mean, wait a moment, does he always do this?” and “ For how long does he keep the pics?” Also, Megumi looks so angry but resigned at the same time or he is probably too injured to stop it.

Despite what he says here, I HC that Gojou is overprotective of Megumi. Since he was the only first year during that time, I suppose he usually went on solo missions?

Megumi automatically assuming that they are souvenirs speaks how used he is to that tendency from his sensei. Also, Gojou being able to mind read what Megumi was thinking XD

I got confused for a bit on my first time reading it, because it’s a “thought” bubble, while Gojou’s is a “speech” bubble and it made me wonder how did he know Fushiguro was thinking that? Either they are very close or reading his face is really easy.

Still, the word souvenir is used here. Which is a much more accurate guess for what is going on in their thinking process (in a: could've been a snack).

Or: “I hope you don’t mind that I’m using you to look cool in front of my student.” That’s one interesting sensei we have. Although I think he just likes to show off in general lolol

Protecting Megumi ;-; the seemingly simple panel that made me think more than what I intended.

Why take the effort in drawing Megumi there? Moreover, why fight that close to Megumi? Gojou is keeping a certain distance between him and Megumi so that Sukuna doesn’t hurt his student... For a story telling technique, it makes Gojou look like a more thoughtful character.

Personal opinion --> Personal... feelings?

Megumi being selfish with his requests @_@ and asking something like that to Gojou because he knows he can be trusted with the issue. Gojou calls Megumi a kawaii student, which makes this scene even cuter lolol.

Also, saying: "Leave it to me!". When dealing with Megumi's Zen'in deal, Yuuji's execution and Okkotsu’s execution. Aaah. Because he is the strongest, he knows that he can fulfill such requests, plus he is helping people who can become his allies, so it’s a win-win situation.

I think... from my first time reading this, I felt like they had a closer relationship already and was suspicious about them. I mean, who goes taking pics of someone bruised saying he will show it to others (does he always do this?), is able to read their mind regarding souvenirs, wants to show off, and then helps with personal requests? smh gofushi already strong by ch2 for my past non shipper self

Chapter 3

How does he know he know that? Gojou might have been told about it (because he asked?) or actually went to see him @_@

He really likes to tease Megumi, huh? XD He would probably take more photos to add to his folder of Megumi pics. Why didn’t they add Gojou saying “True” in the anime tho.

Edit: After rewatching the anime, he did :D it was just a fast line.

Enjoy your youth, Megumi! He wants Megumi to have more friends? :D

Although it’s kinda sad... Megumi who is usually distanced from people, but I wonder if he feels lonely, if Gojou feels that Megumi is lonely. And hopes that Megumi makes more friends ;-; It worked out in the end, during the Death Painting arc.

Even though Megumi may not like/agree with what Gojou does, he still goes along with it... it’s just-- this form of acceptance? or resignation lol After all the time they have known each other? Maybe he thinks he may end up liking it in a: it’s not so bad after all.

Also, in the anime they went out the same day which cuts the time that the three could have known each other :(

Edit: Yes, from the rewatch, the line was the same as in the manga.

Chapter 4

I wonder if Gojou ever pranked Megumi with a custom uniform order- and that’s why Megumi warns Yuuji.

Gojou and Megumi's matching uniforms cough cough with the high neck style. Megumi warning Yuuji about this side of him. That side being: how he does uncalled things? Megumi learnt to put up with that lolol

...and my heart just goes aaaaaaaahhh since the 9 years made him used to it and reflects a bit of domesticity? Even though it can be interpreted as resignation, it still makes this a beautiful relationship?? ;-;

I just like to see his reaction whenever there are such anthics haha. In a: “Oh, here we go again, and my classmates are too easily excited”. Then he already knows how it's going to play out, and Megumi is not even angry about it, just disappointed? Because he only has a sweat drop and not a vein popping.

Gojou choosing to sit on the floor rather than on the other... stool? or seat? in the bottom left corner, to be closer to Megumi.

Also reminds me of their first encounter, where the way he squatted made him be near Megumi's height.

Maybe an inconsistency from the drawing, or not enough space in the panel, but Gojou shifted closer to Megumi lolol

I like how it's more obvious in the anime, they had an extra scene animated where they showed Megumi and Gojou escorting the kid to his home :D Still, Megumi is shown trailing behind in the panel, so it can be inferred.

Why have two people do that and not just one? Megumi could have done that on his own? So that Gojou can have more time to get to know his two new students? He is a busy person after all. Alternatively, Megumi could have stayed back. Or... what if Gojou is being protective so he went with Megumi too?

hii,, hope you two are doing well uwu. ok so far, ive only been requesting stuff n i figured might as well just ask for a matchup too lol,,,for knb, haikyuu, free, and fire force (i know ur rules said only 3 so it can be any three from those 4 lol)

my name’s lily and uh basic stuff..i’m a female high school student around 156cm maybe 157 on a good day;3 im bi but with more of a preference for guys (who are tall, like as long as ur a tall guy/girl whatever, i will prolly automatically start simping akdhfj)

i have long black hair that’s usually straight but on a slightly wavy side. my skin’s like a light-ish brown and my eyes are chocolate brown,, or so i’m told. i’m on the more busty side and would say i’m fairly curvy(?) but my grandma keeps saying i’m skinny and need to eat more:))speaking of eating, its like absolutely one of my favorite things ever lolol (so yeah kinda contradictory lol)

according to a test i did i’m ESTP-A altho i don’t rlly know much about personality types so i can’t say for sure if that’s accurate. even tho i’m usually extroverted i can be pretty introverted a times to so(?) ambivert(?) i guess. pisces (but i wouldn’t say i’m a perfect example of a pisces) im somewhat emotional and yeah kinda artistic i guess, just not in drawing lol. i can do other stuff well just not drawing akjdj,,,school-wise i do pretty well despite being lazy and procrastinating a lot (i guess you could say i’m the aomine of academics🤪) oh yeah im also on the school volleyball team and a few other “academic” clubs (MUN, etc.) i can also play the piano altho i don’t rlly play classics,,mainly anime songs akjdjd. yes, i’m a major weeb. my room’s full of posters and manga and my wallet’s full of emptiness;-;

ok some more random things about me…i’m apparently rlly impulsive, i am a pretty confident person but like i still panic a lot before competitions or anything like that ajhdjd also when i panic, i ramble…a lot. actually i think i ramble a lot on a daily basis regardless of whether or not i’m panicking oop— uh back to the confidence thing, if it’s in terms of a crush or someone i like, i don’t hesitate to confess or anything like that unless the situation is kinda complicated and it’d be hard to be together or like i’m not 100% sure of my feelings stuff like that,, basically i don’t rlly have much of a fear of rejection(?) but maybe that more cuz i haven’t rlly liked liked anyone THAT much yet. oh ohh i lovee baking esp. cookies altho i get lazy a lot so i haven’t been baking as much. ah yes another thing about me my brother will never stop teasing me about…my fear of fish:) they creep me out ok. i love snakes and crocs tho so uh ?? idk i’m weird like that lolol. oh yeah i have a little brother and sister so a lot of people see me as the “responsible older sister”. is that true? i’d say yes, my bro n sis would say no🤡. one last thing, i love elephants more than anything in this world🥺🥺💗

Precious iron heart~! Despite his persona on the court, he’s actually a very sweet, protective, and kind spirit~! He is definitely your stable and solid rock in any situation / scenario you might find yourself in~! In terms of being emotional, he’s rather in touch with his emotions and will definitely be able to help ground you or at least bring you back to sensible ground if your emotions get the better of you and make you more stressed out than need be.

Other then that, he’s super curious and interested about your hobbies~! He likes to support you and honestly will keep you in line if you happen to stray too far from what needs to be done. He won’t really lecture you, but he’ll remind you that to get out of the hell that’s called school you gotta at least finish with passing. He wants to see you succeed and will feel bad if you happen to fall into a slump or a mood where you end up upset at yourself.

He will definitely be out to support you at any an all of your games~! He’ll always be in the stands with the other Seirin members to support~! (Really he drags them against their will, but they end up coming on their own to support you after seeing how cool it was)

Teppei will definitely be a big help on your impulsive moments. He loves and worries over you and will definitely evaluate a situation quick enough so he can decide whether or not what you’re doing is good or not. He thinks it’s absolutely adorable when you ramble and before games he’ll be the one to gently cup your face before pressing a sweet kiss to your forehead for luck in hopes of calming you down. He knows you’re gonna kick ass anyway.

In terms of PDA, he’s not super handsy, but he does love to let others know that you’re definitely taken. He’ll hand you one of his shirts on a whim if you are in need of one. He let’s you borrow his jackets and hoodies. He’ll always have an arm around you too~!

One thing that he will really like about you is that fact that you can be super open and inviting with everyone you meet, but then be amazed at how when you are by yourself you are quiet and just overall a soft. The contrast will be intriguing to him!

You say that you are impulsive, and he can help you with that no problem! Help you stay out of your head and keep you in a calm state of mind, so you don’t do anything impulsive and start panicking about something! He understand the feel of anxiety so he will do anything he can to make sure you don’t always feel that when you are around him!

He will think it is absolutely hilarious that you have a fear of fish, like I mean he won’t outright say it, but in his mind he will think it is funny, but adorable. Another thing that made him like you, only because it was so charming to him.

Physical features and PDA: He won’t necessarily care for PDA, as in if you were to want to engage in pda he will, but he won’t ever actively want to do excessive pda if that makes sense lolol. He won’t care if you are skinny, but it will be easier for when he wasn’t to pick you up and throw you in a fun way! And with your hair I feel like he will love just to put his hands through absently whenever you guys cuddle!

One word, chaotic. But in a good way! See you and Kageyama would like two puzzle pieces, and the reason being is because he is emotionally stupid, that you can definitely help him with that! I mean, seriously, he needs some help. Help him. Anyways, you and Kageyama will have a blast with each other; he will be the type of person where your mental battery doesn’t get drained because he is just a quiet as you can be and just as soft. The cuddles would be endless and amazing because of this.

He will like how confident you are, from confessing to someone to being confident in competitions and such. And if he were to see you that you are panicking, he will do his best to calm you down. Key phrase here is do his best. He might not be that good at it, but you love the spirit. He is more of an introvert so him trying to make you feel better is gonna take a toll on him, but he will do it to make you feel better! Because he loves you!

This boi will love that you eat so much. He will have literal eating contest with you and then pass out when you win and he ate too much food. He’ll like how you aren’t afraid to show your “boyish” for lack of a better word. He’ll also love that you play volleyball and will want to play with you all the time. I mean it. All the time. Literally will push a volleyball in your face until you say yes to him, and then he’ll stop when he is satisfied.

Kageyama, when he finds out that you bake will definitely want to eat some of your baking! You’ll mention it in a passing way, and he’ll stop you in your conversation and immediately want you to bake for him, which you obviously can’t, but you think it’s either way and tell him you will the next day! Next day comes around and he scarfs down the cookies like he depends on it, and when done will give you kiss as thanks. It’s kind of gross though because his mouth is still full lololol.

Physical features and pda; Like Sousuke, he isn’t one to actively look for pda, but if you were to hold his hand or cuddle with him in public, he will unconciously respond to you, he will really not think about and it’s the most adorable thing ever! He will just lean into and play with your curly hair and not really think anything of it. He will get laughed at by his friends, and he will be embarrassed but he won’t stop once he gets started! You are also just very huggable to him!

Aot and AAC matchup!!!? Basic info: straight female, 5'4, Scorpio! If it matters my mbdi is debater, which I think is accurate. I'm a bit curvy/soft and I have really long wavy hair and glasses. Now for fun stuff!! I'm a 50-50 split between being very hyperactive (almost like a puppy lmao) or very quiet (not shy, but more like indifferent. I've been told I'm intimidating) I'm into polyships so the more boys the merrier. I love exercise but hate doing it alone lol. 1/3!!

I collect manga and knives and I usually dress in black (and hardly ever wear shorts/anything revealing). I'm usually the "leader" of friendgroups, or the meme Lord.... Or the flirty one. Those are my three usual placements. I've never been in a relationship but that doesn't stop me from being a giant flirt 90% of the time. I like to draw and read but ADHD keeps me from focusing long on the latter. I'm constantly listening to music because it helps my anxiety. I'm terrified of spiders n bugs.2/3

I'm also fairly good at math? I play piano and I love video games but I'm real bad at them. I love horror and scary things but I scare very easily so I pay for it later on lol. I also like rollercoasters!!. I curse a lot and think I come off strongly because of how all over the place I can be, but i try to think more logically than emotionally when it comes to actual problems.
