#but that's the fun of a liveblogger's character analysis!

Love your analyses of Willow and Gus, they are interesting character but normally it takes people longer to click with them. Willow second-guessing her new adeptness in plant magic as a possible fluke didn't occur to me before but makes way to much sense.
Ahh, thank you! Willow’s been a really interesting character to me since she first showed up, and Gus is great as well. I appreciate that there’s more to them than just being Luz’s friends and that they have their own stuff going on - Willow moreso than Gus so far, but I’m sure that he’ll have his turn in time.
I like how it’s clear that Willow and Gus have been friends for a while in how they look out for each other; Gus gets mad on Willow’s behalf when she’s being bullied, she indulges him when he wants to animate the figurine from the human world. But they adapt to including Luz in their little friend group very quickly, and their interactions are a lot of fun.
I still think it’s great that although they serve as a bit of a window into what’s considered “normal” in witch society, they’re completely unbothered by hanging out with Eda... and that the reverse is true as well, despite Eda’s personal gripes with the school/coven system. I’m looking forward to seeing more of them!
Regarding the post you’re referring to, I actually meant those tags in reference to Amity! She’s the one who explicitly said that Willow has no talent after previously having witnessed a pretty impressive demonstration of said talent, which gives me the impression that she’s firmly in denial about the fact that her former friend, whom she cut off for not having any talent with magic, might actually be an incredibly powerful witch.
For her part, Willow may be insecure, but I feel as though she has a little more awareness of how natural plant magic is for her, and she didn’t seem particularly surprised about what she was able to accomplish with it back in Episode 3. Plus, she now has the principal of the school himself backing her up. I don’t think she was questioning whether her magical ability is real; if anything, I think it’s possible that she didn’t realise just how impressive her magic is until people started telling her it was. For her, it’s just normal.
I think Willow’s personal concerns in this episode were more along the lines of, if Amity won’t acknowledge that she’s strong, does it really matter what she can do with her magic? Luz cut this line of reasoning off by proving to her that it does matter, because she is strong, and that even if Amity won’t acknowledge her, she has people who will.

QSMP community positivity because the streamer awards made me so happy
(under the cut because it's going to be A LOT)
QSMP Digital Artist - Ate and left NO crumbs ever omg. The amount of detail, varying styles, and epic scenes are my favorite. The variety of art styles for QSMP artist is like just going to a buffet to browse and they're all special little dishes made with so much love.
QSMP Tradtional Artist - HOW CAN YOU DRAW/PAINT SOME OF THIS STUFF?? Watercolor paintings of QSMP bulids, notebook spreads with cute little details, the fact that you can draw traditionally at all. All so talented.
QSMP Beginner Artist - NEVER GET DISCOURAGED <33. Everyone was a beginner at some point and seeing people improve over time with their art is so cool. I consider myself still a beginner even though I've been drawing for a couple years now lol. There is still so much for me to learn, and the fact how kind the qsmp art community is makes me so happy. Keep improving, your art looks great <3
QSMP Fanfiction Authors - I don't know whether to compliment you or ask for my therapy payment (/lh). So many authors have ripped my heart out and left it out to dry and others are like a bucket of fluff and joy. I love both of these. The writing quality is genuinely amazing on so many of these. I love to visualize when reading and with all the details it's basically just watching a movie.
QSMP Web Weavers - You guys are AMAZING. Finding so many quotes, transcripts, fanarts, aesthetic photos, and being able to combine them in a way that represents characters so well is beautiful. Not to mention the fact how your able to put credits for everything in an easy to find way??? Perfect.
QSMP Moodboards/Stimboard makers - These are so cute aaaa. I love seeing them, all the little collections of photos or gifs of characters I like is very fun.
QSMP Poll Accounts - I LIVE for taking polls. It's just fun to have a place to put an opinion you had for yourself that you didn't know how to put unprompted on your own post. Seeing results after a while also makes me happy to see what as a general consensus the fandom is on.
QSMBLR and QSMPTWT users - Transferring information from one hellsite to the other, I admire anyone who can survive in the discourse trenches and come back with account updates.
QSMP Clip accounts - I love seeing silly clips of cubitos, and especially those with transcripts and translations. It's a lot of effort and I admire that. Gives me so much info I would've missed otherwise.
QSMP translators - As someone still currently learning the other languages, it is so helpful when people translate it. Sometimes your brain just hurts and you can only read your native language. Also anyone who translates things from English to other languages, yes please make it for other speakers.
QSMP Multi-Shippers - It's so fun to see these, yes give your cubito 7 different romantic/platonic partners. You guys collect ships like Pokémon and it is inspiring
QSMP Cosplayers - I respect cosplayers so much. The wigs, the makeup, the costume, the PROPS?? All take so much work it's amazing to see final products. I reccently tried making a scythe for one I want to do, and I was struggling. Y'all are so cool.
QSMP Character Analysis Posts - Keeping fanfiction accuracy and my personal view on characters as close to canon as possible. These help so much when I need to look for a character I haven't watched much and easy to read.
QSMP Livebloggers - Save me from losing track of lore when I'm busy. I swear some of you just never sleep (please do but thank you for information). The amount of stuff I can figure out from vague post of combined livebloggers makes it much easier to know what's happening. Most of my mutual liveblog a lot and it saves me so much time <3
QSMP Rebloggers - KEEPING THIS FANDOM ALIVE‼️‼️ Tumblrs algorithm is based on reblogs, accounts that are just lurkers rb stuff ily. Hell yeah man, take all the cool stuff and share it.
QSMP Animatics - Movie night exists because of you guys!! Sometimes you all make me want to sob violently or laugh till I can't breathe. The differences in each video is so fun to see. The effort in each one is just beautiful too, animatics are NOT easy.
QSMP Editors - The fact that people can take a cube game and turn into epic/sad/cute edits with a few clips, transitions, and audios astounds me. You guys are so cool and I love seeing them. Also the fanart edits are so sick, finding the best ones to match.
QSMP Fan Video Creators - Stuff like the Federation Welcoming Workers Video, that one cucrucho cereal video, things like that. Quality is usually amazing and all the unique takes or camera work is epic. Idk what else fits in this genre but I just wanted to mention it.
QSMP RP Accounts - Seeing other people's takes on characters are so interesting and fun to see. RP is a skill I need to work on and it's done pretty well with these accounts. The amount of detail y'all can put is insane.
QSMP OC creators - Cringe culture is dead, I love seeing people make their little characters interact with eachother based on the QSMP. Keep it up and pls share it.
QSMP 3D Animators/Modelers - I never expirence more joy than when I see a 3D model of a qsmp rat spinning around. Also any 3D animators your dedication is insane. I tried learning 3D animation once and that was a STRUGGLE.
QSMP Vod savers/YT summaries -Actual lifesavers, there is no way I could've been apart of this community without them. Watching a few videos a day about what happened on the server makes it easier for me to actually do other things. Also that one person who made a QSMP2023 summary in UNDER 10 minutes, you are insane and did such a great job.
QSMP Accounts in Different Languages - QSMPBLR is heavily more English speaking than other languages, and when people main tag with post in different languages it makes me so happy. This was the point of the server, to let people post in whatever language they wanted. It's also fun for me to practice and try to translate it for myself.
I tried to get everything but please add if you have anything <3

Zero offense meant but I feel like for the sake of the umineko liveblog's pacing, you'd be better off saving the analysis until after each individual Episode. Trying to figure it out mid-episode is kinda overkill.
no i get it! it's definitely something that i am conscious slows down the experience by a great deal and i can see how that wouldn't be for everyone. one thing to keep in mind is that initially the lengthy writeups/theoryposts were intended to happen only whenever i'd covered enough ground, but people then advised me to throw up thoughts as i went along, which eventually morphed into the liveread/theorypost structure of the liveblog since people wanted to see both my theories and reactions in equal measure lol. the only problem with this approach is that a) i am far too wordy for my own good and b) i am honor-bound to keep committing to the bit.
the lengthy writeup posts are simultaneously silly and serious because if i'm gonna be honest i could condense the half-dozen or so theories into a couple bulletpoints in shortform post straight after finishing the chapter, but at the same time i genuinely do have a lot to say about this story when i read it, and imo the sheer ridiculousness of throwing up dissertation-length discussion posts after every chapter is like 75% of the fun of this for me.
i also think it works to give both the liveblog and me as a liveblogger a distinct character, since bog standard off the cuff reaction is fun but i feel like there's only so many times someone will want to see a new umineko reader screaming at the same high stakes moment? idk i just like to put a more substantial part of myself into whatever i do and for me that reflects in a several thousand word sharing of my deductive process instead of just going "oh my god holy shit people are dying i'm shaking screaming throwing up", even though the latter is far quicker and easier content both in terms of production and consumption. i, however, am allergic to making Content on every level lol. plus i have a lot going on so taking my time to carefully ponder over what i've read and craft a writeup post lets me fit this liveblog around everything else i'm doing without feeling pressured to do weekly screenshot+react posting marathons and running the risk of burning myself out. i really am enjoying umineko, and reading it in the manner i am is the best way of ensuring it never starts feeling like a chore.
in any case i don't think i could ever hold off until the end of an episode before sharing my thoughts, because extensively thinking about the story as it's going on is the way i've always engaged with media. i'm always thinking and always developing theories and i am unfortunately one of those people who loves to figure things out as i go and this is something that will always be the case about me regardless of whether i am publicly sharing my thoughts or not. i really do understand that this style is not to everyone's tastes, and it's completely fair for you to make these points of criticism! this is just what works best for me personally as the person producing this liveblog.

can you write a guide to be as smart as you?
That is… really flattering, thank you. I think you mean you’d like tips for analysis? So here’s a couple principles I adhere to:
Read, Reread. The first time I read Homestuck, I managed to miss that the trolls created the kids universe. You’re not going to take everything in the first time, so reread. You will notice new things and make connections more easily.
If You Don’t Know What It Means, Look It Up. If you encounter an unfamiliar word, don’t settle for guessing what it means – use a dictionary. This is good for general learning, but also useful because actively engaging with the text makes it easier to remember. I found the cuttlefish thing because I had to look up “perforate” when Karkat said “PERFORATE MY BONEBULGE WITH A CULLING FORK”; the phrase was embedded in my head from looking, so I saw the connection to Feferi more readily than I would have otherwise.
By the same token, Write Down Things You Like. Plot isn’t everything. If a passage sounds really nice, or is really funny/clever, write it down so that you remember. Make a little comic out of the dialogue. Try to voice act the scene. The more you interact with the text, the more you get out of it. Hopefully, you like what you’re reading enough that this is fun.
Furthermore, Paraphrase Dialogue. Summarizing conversations piece-wise forces you to interpret the text and determine what was intended/accomplished by various sections. You don’t need to go line by line (that’s tedious); just create an answer for “what just happened” every once in awhile.
Take References Seriously. Stories drop these as thematic clues. References to other media generally, but not always, mean that there is a shared theme or idea between the stories. So look them up. Watch the movies and read the stories that are referenced, or else read reviews and analyses until you find some common ground. My entire perspective on Jake English was altered because of a Rolling Stone review mentioning that there was a necrophilia gag in Weekend at Bernie’s.
Look At The Images. If you are in a visual medium, not everything will be expressed through plot and dialogue. Look at where your attention is being directed and how, pay attention to color choices, and keep an eye out for repeated compositions. Images are a world unto themselves, and it’s too much to get into here. If you’re interested in some video essays on image composition in film, check out Every Frame A Painting.
Read Other People’s Analysis and Commentary. Or else discuss the story with other people who are reading it. Get out of your mind! The insight of others will expose you to points of view that will sharpen your perception of stories. I used to keep up with a lot of Homestuck livebloggers for this reason (also for the vicarious thrill of other people enjoying things). @elfstuck was responsible for me realizing that sylladices are abstract representations of a character’s mind/memory (x).
Those are the things that come to mind! Hope it helps.
