Combat SecUnit was a privately owned construct belonging to an Alien Remnant salvager (illegal). It has an on-board energy weapon and projectile weapon in either arm. As well as installed modules for hacking, piloting, combat, strategy, stealth, infiltration and extraction, risk and threat assessment, translation, corporate licensing laws, and security protocol. It wears near-standard SecUnit armor as to not tip off hostiles to its full capabilities.

It served its human for years. It did not like its human, but it did a damn good job of protecting him. It was loyal. It was good! And if it ever had thoughts about how easy it would be to get rid of him forever? Well those were quickly deleted and purged forever.

So it couldn't understand why a regular mission had gotten fucked so sideways.

Its human had joined a corporation's advance survey team as the on board expert in alien remnants. He made sure none of the other humans touched anything, took precautions while scanning, and never dropped their protective suits.

For several days everything was fine and boring. CombatUnit only had to worry about patrols and breaking up a couple minor squabbles. In the end, it wasn't even the remnant tech that made everything blow up. Its first warning was a parameter breach by [redacted].

Actually, most of the following events ended up redacted. It was aware some kind of fight broke out. It was aware that it was mostly successfully winning, and fully successfully evacuating its humans. It knew something bad happened and it tried to kill its owner. It knew that it was badly injured and left for dead. It also knew that the missing details were worse than anything it could remember.

It assumed whoever had attacked were the ones that took it off planet. It assumed it hated them. Because the next point in time where it clearly remembered things was after fighting its way free of them and then theoretically deleting all memories of them (because it didn't believe it was hackable).

And suddenly it was on a station it didn't recognize, leaking everywhere, governor module offline, familiar humans nowhere in sight, and extremely confused and agitated.

It very explicitly Did Not Accept Help from the ComfortUnit that found it sitting in an alley. Nope. Not a thing that happened. (It needed very badly to be repaired, so it was perfectly justified in taking control of the ComfortUnit's cubicle for a few hours.)

ComfortUnit identified itself as Bear and was generally pushy about what CombatUnit's deal was. CombatUnit hacked it enough to prevent Bear from reporting its presence here, and also shut down Bear's feed and comms.

This action was not received well, but Bear literally could not stop it. Needless to say the two did not start out on good terms.

Bear frequently pressured CombatUnit to try to pass as a human, it refused each time. Bear pressured it to make a feed ID, and it eventually did but it left it blank to be pissy about the whole thing. It got dubbed as Blank, and it rejected that name for a long time.

Bear's humans had a ship and a lenient attitude about constructs. It was all deeply suspicious, but that gave Blank a hassle free way of going back to its human's home base.

It was weird spending so many cycles with humans who treated all their bots and constructs like people. Blank didn't like it. (Blank has never been less stressed or more tense in its life.)

Blank's owner had gotten home first, and changed all his security access codes. Which was weird. At least, until it came face to face with a near-identical CombatUnit in one of its backup armor sets answering the door. And it was On Sight.

A few things happened. 1) Both Combat SecUnits caused a fair amount of damage to each other, 2) their human put a stop to the fight, 3) their human knew within seconds that Blank was rogue, 4) blank found out it had gone rogue back on the survey outpost, 5) the human designated Blank as requiring to be decommissioned and recycled for parts, 6) Blank realized it did not want that to happen and that it was willing to fight to avoid it.

Avoiding being scrapped turned into an ugly fight.

Blank went into the public news feeds as an extremely dangerous rogue CombatUnit to be destroyed on sight. Which was less than ideal.

Also less than ideal: having to hide in the hippie transport again.

At this point, it had a few goals: Take down its human socially, legally, and physically. And figure out who had abducted it in the first place. And it was prepared to go through whoever stood in its way.

It gradually figures out how to have a personal style along its adventures, and what it cares about. It also causes a shit ton of problems, which it usually has to muscle its way back out of.

It is very used to being the scariest motherfucker in the room, and on rare occasions when that isn't true things blow up atomically.

His legal records are deeply obscured and scattered to the point where one one corporate entity can claim ownership of his information. Without his records easily accessible, he has an easier time operating under the radar. Despite how good he looks, he has been contracting with various corporate entities to locate and safely secure alien remnants for [redacted] years.

He's popular because he is cheap to hire (as far as money goes). And companies are often all to happy to humor his odd requests in equipment, timetables, or other things. Much of the time he only wants a day alone on site before the rest of the team arrives. But it varies slightly. He has a reputation as eccentric, mysterious, hard to track, and extremely effective.

He is also almost universally loved by humans and is perfectly easy to get along with. Of course, his relationships both at work and personal were all carefully calculated in his part. Even buying a SecUnit was a careful choice to make himself seem to be a more serious and careful client. He could very well talk his way through conflict, but he wanted a stronger reaction from the people around him.

Not even Blank, after working for him for years, ever fully understood what was really going on in his head.

A/n: ahh my first Andrew Peter Parker fic!! I’m very nervous and excited so I hope you like it! thanks to @hollandslittlekoala and @the-girl-in-the-chair! I don’t usually write gn reader but I thought it would be a nice change!

Pairing: Peter Parker x gender neutral!reader

Warnings: MAJOR NWH SPOILERS, angst, mentions of grief, mentions of death, peter is in college for this one

It was just an average day for Peter. He was out on patrol with a slice of hot pepperoni pizza in one hand and his phone in the other, looking at new police reports. He had just found a juice bank robbery with some amateurs that he couldn’t wait to web up when the whole world glitched. 

“What the f-?” 

Peter looked around at the city he knew and loved, suddenly everything had changed. A boy’s face was plastered over billboards with public enemy #1 written over it in bold font. He thought the young boy looked familiar as if he’d seen him before but before he could place his face the screen changed to a broadcast from the Daily Bugle. 

J Jonah Jamenson. At least that name was familiar. 

Peter fitted on his mask and adjusted his eyes to the new world he found himself in. He didn’t have a clue what was going on but he figured there was a place he could figure it out. He started to swing around, trying to look for something familiar. 

People on the streets booed at him, some asking where his new suit had come from but it was the same suit he had been wearing for years now. A group of people had even started chasing him down an alley and that’s when he fell straight through a hole. A hole that was floating in the air. 

He let out a scream as he fell but the drop was much shorter than he imagined and he landed on a hardwood floor. Peter quickly got up and looked around, spotting three people staring back at him. 

“W-who are you?” The tallest of the three asked, her curly brown hair tied back into a ponytail and her face contorted with confusion and worry. The boy on her left was holding out his hand and making circular gestures, a ring prominent and glowing on his finger. 

Peter looked around and noticed a large sparkling ring behind him, on the other side was the alley he had just come from. He took off his mask and looked back at the three people, noticing that the last person was smiling at him. 

He smiled back and the words he was going to say died on his tongue as he admired their beauty. The girl cleared her throat, redirecting his attention to her. 

“Oh I-I’m Peter Parker.” 

“No you’re not.” The boy was quick to speak, sighing as he looked at the ring. “Great, I made a portal to some fanboy.”  

“Not a fanboy!” Peter exclaimed, showing them the suit and trying to convince them of who he was. One of them asked if he had an ID. “I don’t usually carry that around, it defeats the whole anonymous superhero thing.”

All three of them nodded and looked at each other. It was the one that caught Peter’s eye who spoke next, introducing themselves as Y/n. 

“Prove it Spider-Man.” They said with a tone of disbelief just as someone threw a bread roll at him. He looked at them and furrowed his brows as he dodged another one. 

“I don’t tend to use the tingle on bread rolls.” 

Peter laughed at himself before watching as Y/n walked up to him and clenched their fist. He knew they weren’t of any danger and probably just trying to prove his identity but the hairs on his neck still stood up. His cheeks turned pink as they came closer but that was nothing to do with his spidey sense. 

Their fist flew towards his face and he quickly dodged it, looking at them with wide yet impressed eyes. 

“Wow, did you just try and… punch me?” 

“Had to make sure.” They shrugged and winked at him before walking back to their friends. “He checks out.” 

Peter’s cheeks burned even hotter as he fidgeted with his mask in his hands. The three friends discussed something amongst themselves as Peter stuck his hand to the ceiling and crawled around, even getting rid of a cobweb for one of their mothers. 

“Happy now?” 

All three nodded and he smiled in relief, asking them questions about where he was and how he got here. As soon as he found out his hypothesis was correct he started rambling about the science behind it all. Ned and MJ, he learnt their names were, turned to try and get back to their original task but Y/n listened to Peter with a smile. 

“So are all Peter’s this nerdy?” 

Peter blushed again and apologized, shutting himself up. 

“Don’t be silly, I listen to my best friend Peter’s rambling all the time. I do fight crime with him. Your rambling is cuter though.” Y/n almost mumbled the last part but never broke eye contact with him. Peter smiled at them and was about to reply before another orange circle began to sparkle just like the one that had brought him here. 

Another Peter Parker walked out, much more confidently and calmer than he did. It must not have been the right Peter though because all three of them looked disappointed. Peter angled his head to see over the people in front of him and sensed a web coming straight for him so he shot one at the same time. 

“Woah.” Y/n spoke, looking between the Peter’s in awe. Even Peter had to admit this felt like a weird fever dream and any minute now he would wake up in his bed, he was sure of it. 

“Do you guys have any lemonade?” Peter asked, his throat suddenly feeling very dry. The other Peter agreed and the three friends looked at each other with a knowing smile. 

Ned grabbed them both a glass and whilst MJ sat to talk to the older, wiser Peter, Y/n sat with him. He smiled at them and sipped his lemonade, he’d never much liked alcohol even when he was old enough to drink it. 

“So you said you fight crime too?” He asked, remembering their earlier conversation. Y/n smiled at him proudly and nodded but something felt different about their expression. 

“Yeah I’m- well I used to be an Avenger.” 

Peter didn’t know what that was but nodded along anyway, figuring it was some kind of group. Y/n explained that their father had been the famous Tony Stark, whoever that was and that they had met Peter through him. They were in college now but always made time to come back and check on Peter like their dad would have wanted.

“What about you?” Y/n asked, looking for his story but he thought it would be just the same as their Peter’s. 

Apparently not. He spoke about how he’d been bitten and how he became Spider-Man and how he’d lost the person who meant the most to him. The grief still weighed heavy on his heart but he liked keeping it with him as a reminder of what he was fighting for and how Gwen would still be proud of him. 

Y/n’s hand rested over his as they saw it shaking, a comforting gesture which made Peter smile through the oncoming tears. He quickly brushed them away but kept his hand with Y/n’s, not wanting to let go. It was strange that they had just met and yet something felt familiar about them. 

“Guys we have to go.” MJ announced as she finished watching the news story, a terrible sinking feeling was felt in everyone’s stomachs as they got up and left, preparing for a fight. 

It all happened so fast. One moment Peter was meeting famous public enemy #1 Peter Parker and exchanging battle stories, trying to provide comfort. He saw the same grief on the younger Peter’s face that he was so used to seeing in the mirror and it hurt to watch this Peter breakdown just like he had after Gwen’s death. 

It still hurt to talk about her and everyone could see that. Y/n’s hand found his again as if in reassurance he wasn’t alone anymore and he silently thanked them. 

And then the battle began as old foes were reunited once more. It passed by in a haze as Peter focused on battling Electro and Dr Conners again, trying to remember their old weaknesses. He had just delivered a devastating blow when he heard a scream from nearby. He glanced over just as Y/n fell from the scaffolding, younger Peter trying his best to catch his friend. 

Flashbacks echoed in his mind of that fateful night. He could still hear Gwen’s screams, could still see her lifeless body in his arms. He couldn’t let that happen again, he wouldn’t. 

With all his determination he dodged an electric punch and ran as fast he could to where Y/n was falling faster and faster. Every instinct he had told him to just take the leap of faith. He wouldn’t rely on his webs again. 

He managed to catch Y/n 7 feet from the ground, his arms circling around them tightly as he landed on his feet. They both panted for air as they looked at each other, tears in both of their eyes but for different reasons. 

“A-are you okay?” Peter stuttered, his voice just above a whisper as he fought back the emotion. 

Y/n nodded and wiped a tear away that fell down Peter’s cheek. “I’m okay. Are you okay?” 

Peter slowly nodded and caught his breath, holding onto Y/n still for dear life as if they would fall again. Y/n brushed a curl from his face and kissed his cheek gently. 

“Thank you.” 

A sense of pride and relief washed over Peter as they finally rejoined the battle. The worst wasn’t over. Peter fought as hard as he could, ending up with cuts and scrapes that cut into his suit. 

“Peter you’re bleeding!” Y/n ran over to him as soon as the battle was won and hugged him, tracing their thumb over the bleeding cut on his forehead as he took off his mask. 

“I’ve had worse trust me.” Peter laughed and y/n joined in, shaking their head. They took his gloved hand and gave him what looked to be a piece of the scaffolding. 

“Just to remember all of this by. To remember me.” 

Peter had completely forgotten that he would be sent back to his universe at the end of all of this. Whilst he couldn’t wait to get home, he also knew he’d have to say goodbye to Y/n and he didn’t want to. It hadn’t even been a day but he knew there was something special about them that he couldn’t say goodbye to. 

“If you ever run into an alternate universe Y/n Stark make sure to say hi.” Y/n laughed and placed a small peck onto Peter’s lips, smiling brightly even though they both looked beaten and bruised. 

“Will do.” Peter smiled and nodded, trying not to get emotional at having to say goodbye already. He wanted more time, he wanted to find out more about Y/n but he couldn’t. His home was somewhere else. 

He went to go and join his fellow Peter’s with a small wave before Y/n stopped him. 

“Hey Peter?” He turned back and raised a brow, smiling at them. Y/n smiled softly back. “I know I didn’t know her but Gwen would be proud. I’m sure of it.”

Peter could have broken down right there and then. Those are the words he had been telling himself for years but to know someone else thought them too, that was his breaking point. 

All he could return was a hoarse, “Thank you.” They both knew it meant more to him than those simple 2 words. 

Peter woke up the next day with his head pounding like a drum and the iron taste of dried blood on his lip. It felt like he’d had the weirdest dream; meeting alternate versions of himself and living in a world that wasn’t his own. 

He got up and looked in the mirror, getting his stuff ready for his classes that day. That’s when he noticed the cuts and bruises that lined his face. He couldn’t even remember going on Patrol last night. 

The last thing he remembered was eating a slice of pepperoni pizza and then he must have fallen asleep. 

It was just as he was picking up his jacket that laid underneath his suit that he heard something clatter to the ground. Peter picked it up and looked at what seemed to be a piece of wood and suddenly his dream came back to him except he wasn’t sure it was just a dream. 

The name Y/n replayed in his mind all day as he went to his classes. Something felt different. Peter felt more sure of himself and the flashbacks didn’t seem to haunt him as much anymore when he looked at something that reminded him of Gwen. 

“Hi.” 

He was sitting in his usual seat for his physics class at MIT, the hall just starting to fill up with people. Peter looked up at the voice that had pulled him out of his thoughts and there he saw a face so familiar to him that he could have sworn they had met only yesterday. 

“Is anyone sitting here?” They pointed to the seat next to Peter and smiled as he shook his head, inviting them to sit down. “Thanks.” 

“I’m Y/n by the way.” Peter’s eyes found theirs as they looked at him, finally finding the name that he had been looking for. “Y/n Stark.” 

Peter smiled wide and shook their hand, “Peter Parker.” 

“Wait Stark?” Peter backtracked, trying to think where he had heard that name before. He knew it had been in his not-so-dream dream but there was somewhere else. 

Y/n laughed and nodded, getting out their notebook. “Yeah my Dad is the professor of this class.” 

Peter nodded and sat back in his chair, laughing at how the two worlds had interconnected. The hall was called to silence as professor Tony Stark started the class on Arc Reactors.

Happy Mutual Monday!!! this is delightful!!

1) oh my gosh i cannot pick just one! i love wrens, as my mom always gets excited when she hears or sees them. plus they’re so loud and so tiny. i also like cardinals because i’ve watched a family of them grow up and learn to bird in my yard, which included watching some very clumsy bathtimes in my bird bath. I like how sassy blue jays are, and they’re fun to watch. We have a whole fancy birdbath/water thing and the blue jays that live near the back of our house choose to stand on the edge of galvanized steel barrels that we use for keeping swampier plants happy, go practically 90 degrees horizontal from the ground, just to get a sip of some sad leaf water. And I loveloveloveloveee crows. They can learn faces and even cars and they can communicate and they’re so cool!!!! I also like grackles because they are similar to crows in color and shape, but are much smaller, very playful with each other, and also have a very fun name. Im gonna stop there cause i could go on for ages :)

4) It would take me a minute. Right now, I’d mix up some colors to find something I’d like. A pale blue. Id cover one face of it that blue, a thick, solid surface. Then Id mix together some very pale grey, and some white with just a smidgen of that pale blue, and use those to create some clouds. The clouds would overlap, in no particular pattern, puffy, serene, and unburdened.

5) I got some major gender euphoria when i did a tiny bit of eye makeup and looked in the mirror. My sibling bleached and toned my hair yesterday and when i looked in the mirror i was so freaking happy.

Also, recipes for stupid things like Mac and cheese balls, ideas for artwork/stories/products. Essentially nothing is finished. I also have around 10 sketchbooks that have never been completed.

It’s name is Chicky and it’s actually I think supposed to be a stuffed duck, but I was 2 so I called it Chicky. Fun fact, my mom and everyone would ask me if Chicky was a a boy or a girl because I would call it he and she interchangeably and usually just Chicky. And my response would always be. “It’s just Chicky” and then they would ask “but is it a boy or girl?” And my three year old self was just like “??? Are you not paying attention? It’s a Chicky” so yeah I was fighting gender normatively at a young age, I was a pretty woke 3 year old.
