Hey Cin! Since this is the anniversary of TFA, I was wondering - as a long time storyteller how did you handle losing people who use to actively read with your story? Especially when you were new, with fewer notes. What kept you moving forward? How many of your readers are relatively new? I was thinking about this because on tumblr people come and go. -and it may be encouraging to other storytellers LOL-

Oh this is a good question!! And it got long as hell so follow me under the cut please lol.

I recognize the OGs on sight!! Those who have been around since the beginning! And then there are people who have been around since the start and they may even say that they have been but they've changed URLs and so I have no clue.

The reason that matters is because in the early days of my story I had a solid group of maybe 8 friends who replied, sent asks, etc on almost every post so I recognized their usernames. As time went on that number grew but, maybe some left, came back and jumped back in with a new name so I don't know that they've been around as long as they have (there's a few of yall that I wonder if you had another name 9 years ago or even 5 lmfao i'm laughing but I high key be feeling gaslit weird tho I can't lie)

Also I'd say that I was mostly playing for me in the very early days and the notes those first few chapters have now are because folks have since gone back and started from the top. Those weren't the notes I had originally. When I say I was playing for me, I really was! The game was only a year old, I missed the entire sims 3 era so I was tip toeing back into the game. It wasn't about notes I just wanted to share my gameplay like everyone else.

There are readers who have left because themes in the story got too personal, too. I've gotten into arguments, etc. Looking back I could have handled things better, but when you're writing about some of things I've written about its hard for emotions not to get involved from the reader AND the writer.

Finally I'd say that a good chunk of my readers are new as in like just jumped in maybe around the time Hope graduated/went to prom so like early last year. There's a nice chunk who jumped in and went back to the start, too. And then there are the brand new folks and recently I've gotten a lot of them (I encourage them to read from the start tho because some of the questions I get asked wouldn't be questions if they started earlier) I wouldn't say they are the majority though but I welcome y'all with open arms!! ANDDDD hope you start reading from the start at some point!

cant tell you how bad it feels to constantly tell other artists to come to tumblr, because its the last good website that isn't fucked up by spoonfeeding algorithms and AI bullshit and isn't based around meaningless likes

How NaNoWriMo is going:

The first day I took an old project that I hadn't worked on in awhile and decided to retry from the beginning. I wrote a full outline, and on the first day I wrote 1,696 words. I then never wrote again until today, when I decided to scrap my outline and start again from the beginning, but from a completely different point in time and a different main POV and everything except the fucking setting is different. But I'm feeling this way a lot more, so it's fine. It's all fine. Everything is fine. I'm now at 2,300 words. Over halfway through the month.

#im not really putting pressure on myself because then ill lose my love for it #clearly there was no pressure lol #but i think i was having trouble writing because how it was just didnt feel right #it feels a lot more right now #im enjoying it a lot more #its too much to explain. especially at 3am when im exhausted #but its good shit #wish me luck #good ouck to everyone else attempting NaNoWriMo
