TaiYama Week 2017, Day 4: Fan corner. Talk/share about fan created content you enjoy!

I went a little (okay a lot) crazy with this :S I just sorta linked to all the stuff I’ve found related to Taiyama made by fans that I really like... it’s kind of just a ton of links with a few comments from me as to why I like them... uhhh hope that’s okay. I go through Fanfiction, then AMVs and then Artwork

I’m not big into Fanfiction, but I have found a few works so far that I’ve loved so I’ll start by sharing those

This fic is amazing. It’s by cyclone5000 who I know a lot of Taiyama fans recommend and I totally see why. She is a really great writer but this story specifically struck a chord with me because the boys are written exactly the way I personally headcanon them to act and their conversation is really beautiful and intimate. I love Fics that drag out the confession, or center around confessions. I think Yamato’s response to Taichi’s confession in this story is super interesting and their conversation just feels really real. It’s not necessarily a conversation I can see them having (mainly cause it doesn’t fit with my headcanons), but to me it’s a very realistic conversation that could happen between two people just trying to figure out what they want and how to handle their feelings.��

For me, I’ve always preferred to watch AMVs over reading fanfiction and those are what I look for first after I’ve fallen in love with a ship. When I’m really in the mood for a pairing I’ll watch an AMV to get the feels going. So here are a few (actually a lot... probably too many) AMVs that make me really happy

This one is by far my favourite Taichi x Yamato amv. I really love when AMVs include dialogue from the show. This one uses the Dub Audio but that makes me like it more because the Dub has a special place in my heart and I love Joshua Seth as Taichi and Michael Reisz as Yamato. It’s also one of the few AMVs on my list that does not include any shots from Tri as it was made many years before Tri’s announcement and all of the shots are very well edited together. Side note but this is also the first Taiyama amv I ever saw and I actually stumbled on it back in the day before I even liked Taiyama

After falling in love with Taiyama, this amv was the first amv I ever saw so it’s special to me, and I also think it’s really well done and conveys the emotions from Reunion well.

it’s a truth universally acknowledged that if a tri movie is coming out, tumblr user dianaagron (clara for friends) won’t know about it until the day after, when she’ll wake up and check twitter after 84 years of not logging in and realize that yesterday was the day. actually, this time i remembered the episodes were out the same day they were released, but still it was because of good ol’ twitter, because with all the mess that’s going on with me (part of the reason why i’m never here) even if i happened to check at the beginning of the week when soushitsu was coming out, i still managed to completely forget about it in the span of a fucking day. also, i’m fucking pissed because i’ve always watched the thing after downloading the various episodes because that way i have all my stuff and i can go back and easily find caps and other stuff like that but nope not this time because i can’t fucking find a single torrent and i’m refusing to download subbed episodes because a) it’s gonna take so long to direct download something and b) what use are subbed episodes when i know i’d be replacing them with unsubbed ones as soon as i can find working dls (this is a cry of help: tell me where i can download the episodes, im dying, thank you)

one thing to take into account: i was extra pissed for various reasons yesterday night when i watched the first two episodes, so i’m not really sure if that’s why, compared to the shit that i had to deal with in real life, the episodes (in the contrary to all expectations) weren’t bad at all. truth is i actually liked this installment? INCREDIBLE, I KNOW. of course it had its nonsense moments and parts that made me roll my eyes (im buying pizza for everyone who can guess which were those moments) and other negative parts, but i really preferred movie 4 to movie 3. i’m guessing this is an unpopular opinion because i remember everyone was so happy with kokuhaku back in the day and i was the only soul going like lmao i didnt even cry but idk, i liked this one, it wasn’t bad. btw, i said i’m guessing mine could be an unpopular opinion because i’m writing this sorry excuse of a review before reading anything else cause i don’t want to be influenced :)))))

(save me ive written 500 words on nothing) (meanwhile i finally found torrent links) (and i had to pause the review because i ended up going out yesterday night so this is me talking one day later from what you’ve read before)

once again, i feel like nothing happened in the course of these four new episodes. now, i know i’m extremely slow when it comes to get plot points and all that (not because i’m that stupid, thank you very much, but because of my attention span varies from 1 second to 2 and a half so it’s hard for me to recall what happened in the previous installments unless i go and rewatch all of them - thing i won’t ever do because this girl right here is lazy as fuuuck) but if you sit down and think about what was revealed, you get close to nothing lmao.

winning points of the movie (for me):

not too many extreme closeups like in the previous installment. it flowed better, the animation quality wasn’t as terrible as it was in the previous four episodes (im saying this just by quickly looking at the caps i took - while in the other i had so many ugly caps here they all look presentable and usable) (i say this from the point of you of someone who makes edits of course, i dont have the knowledge of an animator lmao), the majority of the shots with mimi, which are the ones that i pay the most attention to, are super pretty, but also those with taichi’s!!! his design was super on point, i have many caps im probably gonna insert later of just him looking hella attractive, and sora!!! omg sora was so fucking beautiful in these episodes i was so :)))) yay for nice designs, they make me happy.

the lack of you know who for basically two episodes. it was so good, so nice, so calming. i was loving life and life was loving me.

HOW THEY HANDLED THE TAIORATO!!!! if you know me or if you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know this already, but i’m saying this in case i have new readers (HI) or, y’know, to swipe some dust off: i’m not the biggest fan of the main three. that comes from the fact that michi is my otp and i love taishiro probably too much for my own sanity, so i tend to be on the taichi/koushiro/mimi & yamato/sora/jyou side of things (which is like, super unpopular because if it’s not taiorato then it’s yamichi, so you get why my life is a constant struggle). anyway, thing is that i actually loved the interactions between the three? it was light and it felt super real, it could easily be relatable. it was also clear to me that taichi’s and yamato’s roles in sora’s life were blatantly different and i also loved to see how the two of them while being in the same situation reacted differently, but i’m gonna touch this topic later. overall tho, good job on the dynamic between those three. im clapping my hands, i wasn’t excited about it when the movie poster came out five months ago but i’m so happy that they made me love the parts with taichi, yamato and sora.

it wasn’t heavy on fight scenes. i know. I KNOW. but as i’ve said, i’m not the average digimon fan so i’m happy with my bonds developing and less fights and all that stuff :))))

meiko exceeding all expectations and NOT CRYING for all four episodes. such sorcery.

OKAY LISTEN, that fucking egg with the circular thing under it made me highkey hope for some sort of magic shit happening and bringing the 02 kids back because it looks like a digimental egg or however those things were called. like my hope was so highkey that i fucking ended up dreaming the night between me watching the first two episodes and the latter two that miyako was back. unfair. i hated it. i want my kids back.

and i also FINALLY appreciated a koumi scene!!!! it happened!!!!! honestly, as i’ve said, i’m not entirely sure if it was because i was facing so much rl shit right before i watched the thing or what, but this time i was just enjoying what tri had to offer me without caring too much about other stuff like “ugh they’re pushing the fanservice with ship baits” and such. this was just plain cute, mimi was terribly in character, koushiro as well, and it was just the kind of interaction that i love. i love my kids pt. 2974521248 like, of course i would’ve loved for mimi to feed one to taichi, but i’m still somehow sane and i know they’ll never show something like that in canon? but still, it’s nice cause i know how differently from koushiro taichi would’ve reacted in a setting like this and i just can use it in my fanon world. goodbye.

a word on the so called triangle that of a triangle it has nothing but whatever: it was clear to me that yamato and taichi hold two very different spots in sora’s life, while both being important to her. there are multiple times when we see yamato trying to make taichi break the ice and talk to sora, and that’s because he is her best friend, so he should be the one who is supposed to know how to make her feel better at all times. another thing i noticed was how it was yamato to be the most sensitive to sora (unsurprisingly so): you see it especially when taichi is busy with agumon and he’s still monitoring sora, worried

and the episodes weren’t bad, come on. they went a little further with the plot by showing that the chick whose name i don’t remember had a partner that died and so that was the reason for the reboot, so they did give some answers, and at least the pacing of this movie was faster than in the previous one.

also, as i’ve said, idk what’s the popular opinion but i loved sora’s arc, it was nicely done and i don’t have anything to bitch about (except for meiko’s unnecessary presence). i felt for her and i wanted to wrap a blanket around her and just give her all the love.

and that’s it i think?

the ending sequence was so cute <3333 especially sora and piyomon, they were my faves closely followed by taichi and agumon

The newest recruits from the academy where finally trickling in. Ikkaku wasn’t entirely pay attention to the new ones, since there wasn’t likely to be a large amount of new seated officers. He was really only here because the brawl was fun, the entire group of people going nearly all out. That was something that he never wanted to miss.

Squad Four was prepared for the influx already. This was not a new thing.

His eyes darted across the new recruits, the loud brash bunch that was going to be the next group of Squad Eleven reapers. He didn’t know why he still did this song and dance. It had been a few years since she had disappeared, and it was so unlikely he was going to see her again, even more unlikely she would even know what squad he was in.

Yumichika knocked his elbow into Ikkaku’s and he sent a small smile towards the other, before focusing back into the group.

He couldn’t see everyone from his position, but that was fine enough. He’d work his way through everyone who thought they could take his seat from him, easily enough.

The same spiel that the Captain had said for years now, always the same nonsense, and Ikkaku yawned, leaning back against the wall and letting his eyes drift across the group once more-

Purple

He paused, zeroing in on that color, something he so rarely saw now-a-days, standing up straighter. Yumichika sent him a look, following his eye line, then leaned over to him.

“What’s up?”

“I think it’s her.”

Yumichika blinked, tilting his head in confusion for a moment, before it clicked, his eyes going wide. “You sure?”

“Not until I see who that is.” Ikkaku kept his eyes locked onto the top of that person’s head. He couldn’t see them past the group that had formed, couldn’t see their face, but he had a feeling. It was almost akin to hope, but he hadn’t let himself hope she’d show up in ages.

And then the battles started. The unseated fighting for low seats, and, eventually, they would be allowed to fight for the upper seats. Until then, however, they would stand to the side, watch.

“Baldy!” Yachiru bounced down from Kenpachi’s shoulder, landing onto Ikkaku’s, and, for once, he didn’t let the nickname get to him. “Who are you staring at?”

That drew Kenpachi’s attention as well, from the battle down to his third seat, whose eyes hadn’t moved from the color. Ikkaku didn’t answer at first, ignoring Yachiru’s questions, until she tried to bite the top of his head, and he huffed, looking away from who he hoped it was for the first time since the brawl had started.

“I’m just getting my hopes up, is all.”

“I don’t think it’s getting your hopes up.” Yumichika leaned over a bit. “This is the first time you’ve even seen a hint of her for years now.”

“That’s why it is getting my hopes up.”

“Who?” Yachiru bounced around to hang off of Ikkaku’s neck, and he sighed heavily, holding up her weight easily.

“Her name’s Yamichi...” His eyes tracked across the fight, frowning now that he had lost sight of her. “She’s my sister.”

Yachiru went silent, eyes going wide, before beginning to swing herself off of Ikkaku’s neck. “You have a sister?!”

He sighed, lifting her up carefully and handing her back off to Kenpachi, who shifted her back up onto his shoulder. “Mhm. Lost track of her a good few years back. When I stopped taking those random days off out to the Rukongai.” His eyes scanned the battle, but still didn’t see her, and he let his shoulders slump a bit, leaning back against the wall.

“What’s she look like?” Yachiru called from Kenpachi’s shoulder, and he looked up, realizing she would have a better chance of seeing her.

“Purple.”

Yachiru nodded, a girl on a mission as she stood on top of Kenpachi’s shoulder, balancing herself with a hand on his head. Kenpachi didn’t react much, but did have his other arm up around his chest to catch her if she pitched forwards. Her eyes scanned the group, before she lit up and pointed. “There!”

Ikkaku followed where she pointed, and caught sight of her just as the shinigami she was facing released his blade. She hadn’t done the same, it seemed, but he still couldn’t see her face. Couldn’t tell if it was her. Still, he couldn’t stop the hope of it.

“If it is her.” He sent a grin up at Kenpachi, knowing Yachiru was staring down the purple haired girl in the battle now, just in case. “She’s gonna want forth seat.”

Kenpachi raised an eyebrow, and Ikkaku shrugged. “Yumichika likes the kanji for five too much to move up to fourth seat. Wouldn’t really matter if our ranking up here is out of order, even if she isn’t stronger than him.”

“I think it would be nice to find out.” Yumichika hummed, then blinked in surprise. “How in the world-”

He turned, recatching the purple and then grinned. “That’s gotta be her.”

The battle had progressed, the Shinigami’s released blade having gotten longer, for one, and he had used that to jab at her. She had dodged, but it must have caught her hair tie, releasing the bun that her hair had been in moments before. Ikkaku’s grin only grew, watching as her demeanor shifted, as if she was taking this battle seriously now. The shinigami was down in seconds, and she slipped off to the side, pulling a spare hair tie off her wrist, sinking into the shadows to put her hair back up.

“By her hair?” Yumichika sent a look to him, and Ikkaku sent one back.

“How many people have you see with that much hair, let alone that color? No, that’s gotta be my Yamichi.”

Yamichi’s hair was back up, at least out of the way, and she was back in, eyes darting around. They slid right past the four of them against the wall, and Ikkaku grinned.

“Can I jump in now? Think it’d be funny.”

There was a moment’s pause, before Kenpachi nodded, and Ikkaku and Yumichika pushed off the wall, disappearing into the fray. Kenpachi was sure to follow in a minute or so, but for now, Ikkaku was on a mission.

He didn’t go for her immediately, but danced around where she was, releasing his zanpakuto into it’s spear form before he got to her.

The strike came from behind, but not aiming to even cut her, flying past her cheek. Yamichi spun around, eyes narrowed and focused, the hollow mask necklace untucked from it’s spot, and she was already blocking a second blow before Ikkaku registered.

He knew the moment that she realized who she was fighting, watching the recognition fly past her eyes, before her grin grew and she threw herself into the fight all the more.

Kenpachi came in moments later, and even then, not many seemed to give him a good fight, as it always had been. It didn’t matter. He and Yamichi hadn’t sparred in years, and Ikkaku realized all at once how much he missed it.

“C’mon, you’re holding out on me, Yami!” Ikkaku almost pouted, as he drove her further and further back, away from where the collected injured unseated officers were scatted, so they could really spar. Yamichi grinned, all sharp teeth and bright eyes.

“My Shikai is a ranged weapon, Kaku. Heard Squad Eleven prefers when you don’t.” She dodged under the spear, kicking a foot out into his stomach. “Besides, I can beat you without it.”

Ikkaku laughed. “There you fuckin’ are!”

She didn’t, but Ikkaku would be the first to admit she got close, even as he stood above her with his spear hovering over her throat. Yamichi grinned up at him, blood closing one of her eyes, and took his hand to pull her up, the two of them leaning against each other.

“Wow.” Yumichika clapped, pushing away from the wall that he had settled himself against, where he had been watching both the fight, and the Squad Four recruits gather up the Squad Eleven recruits. “That was fun. Looks like she could beat you if she had been in Shikai.”

Yamichi grinned, leaning herself against her zanpakuto, holding out a hand towards Yumichika. “Probably would have, but even with the close range abilities of my shikai, it’s still mostly a ranged weapon. Thought it more fun to go at it close range.” Yumichika shook her hand carefully, and she grinned. “Also I’m not wearing the gloves.”

“So.” The group’s eyes shifted distinctly upwards as Kenpachi finally spoke up, Yachiru hanging off his shoulder, hiding her grin, though her bright eyes shone above it. “Heard you’d want fourth seat.”

Yamichi shrugged a shoulder. “I mean, I didn’t fight the current fourth-”

“There is no current fourth.” Yumichika interrupted. “Currently it’s me technically, but I wouldn’t want the forth seat anyways. It’s either three or five for me.”

Yamichi stared at him quietly, before she nodded carefully.

“You can have fourth.” Kenpachi grunted. “Got close enough to winning.”

She nodded, then wavered, closing her eyes for a moment. “Woo. Blood loss. Forgot about that one.”

Ikkaku popped open the back of his zanpakuto, taking some of the paste from it, before carefully applying it to the cut above Yamichi’s eye. She stood still enough for it, closing both her eyes.

“You two might want to get down to the forth squad.”

“I wanna go!” Yachiru finally burst out. “I wanna talk to Baldy’s sister!”

Yamichi peeked open her eye, amused. “Baldy?”

“Shut up, Yamichi.”

What do the people in your character's life think of them and why? Is your character concerned with how other people view them?

I’m gonna do like, the top six people Yamichi interacts with, just cause I think that’d be fun? So this might get long.

Kenpachi: His first impression was her almost winning a fight against Ikkaku, someone who Kenpachi’s had fun in fights with before, while Yamichi wasn’t in shikai, and Ikkaku was. Kenpachi was smart enough to know that if she had been using a bit more power, she would have won that fight, and that excited him. She was powerful, related to someone who already was in his squad and could probably handle herself in a fight with him for a bit, so he was already a bit excited. Then, he ended up getting ~Feelings~ so that was a thing. Now, he really does love her, he just. Doesn’t say that all that often, since Squad Eleven is filled with people that have SUCH emotional constipation, it’s so bad. But, he loves her, and really wants her to be safe. He’s also freaking PUMPED when he finds out she’s a queen? Cause usually they’re super powerful and she was already powerful and a good fight, and now? Oh hell yeah, they’re going out into the middle of that forest and beating the hell out of each other. In love.

Ikkaku: Ikkaku saw her for the first time and went ‘oh shit is that a dead body?’. Now? He loves her, wants her to be safe, and they take care of each other. They’ve got a pretty good sibling relationship going on. Ikkaku sees her as someone he would have killed and died for without a heart beat, the first person that he would have done that, and it’s a huge deal for him back then. She’s his sister, and now she’s a Queen, and that’s amazing, he watched her grow back into this person, and Ikkaku is so incredibly proud of her. Even if she keeps making the joke that now she’s the older sister.

Yachiru: She’s always been a bit enchanted by Yamichi. At first, because she was Ikkaku’s sister, and she hadn’t known that Ikkaku even had a family before Yumichika and him showed up together. Yamichi also was the only other female in the upper ranks of Squad Eleven but her, so it was another moment of !!! Hello !!! Friend !!. Later, she still cared a lot about her, but also because Kenpachi seemed to care about her, and if Ken-chan cared about her, that meant she had to be powerful. Yachiru also was super excited when Kenpachi and Yamichi got together, because it was the only sort of mother type figure Yachiru had until now, and Yamichi seemed to care about her just as much Yachiru cared about Yamichi, so it was great for her.

Yumichika: He first learned about Yamichi from a guilt ridden Ikkaku, a couple years after they had met and had been wandering around together, when Ikkaku told him about leaving her behind, talking about how he couldn’t stay anymore, and how Yamichi couldn’t leave, and how there was really no choice in the matter, but how he always wondered how she was, and if she was still okay, so Yumichika had at first seen her as a young child, since Ikkaku never... said her age, just said ‘younger sister’ and then Yamichi showed up as a fully grown woman, and Yumichika went ‘oh’ so lamsnfasjirgk. They had a bit of a strained thing at first, since Yamichi wanted to do the whole ‘protective sibling’ thing, but they warmed up very quickly, especially when Yamichi started letting Yumichika at her hair, since it was soft and pretty, and Yumichika always has things about things that are beautiful. Yumichika will be the first to admit that he had, at first, only cared about her as an extension of Ikkaku, but now they’re pretty good friends and have days they set aside for full beauty routines that Yumichika wants to try out, and other days that they don’t set aside, for those days where the paperwork piles up and they’re the only two that can do it.

Ichigo: Their first interaction together, Ichigo thought she was weird. Considering what the interaction was (which isn’t getting revealed since that’s gonna be part of Blocked and Broken) it’s completely understandable and valid, but still funny, that he meets this person whose dating someone he beat the shit out of in the Soul Society, and just sees her as kinda weird and sad. Completely understandable assessment though. She turned into a bit of a mentor in essence to him, coming into the World of the Living out of nowhere, just to show him something neat that she thinks might help him. Yamichi started teaching him kido, despite... being really bad a kido herself. So it’s not going well. Lately, he feels comforted by her presence more, especially during battle. Ichigo feels a bit indebted to her, though not saying why as it’s Another Spoiler, but she’s said multiple times that she Literally Doesn’t See It That Way, Ichigo Please It’s Fine, so he tries to make it up to her in the tiny ways, like she doesn’t know that’s what he’s doing. Just as she’s relearning everything about herself, he’s learning all the fun stuff about being a Soul Reaper and a Hollow, so there’s a bit of kinship there as well.

Uryu: Another person who was originally a bit like ‘what in the fuck’ towards her, but that’s because he is super intuned to spiritual energy, and Yamichi’s was Fucking Weird when he first met, something he had never felt before. It wasn’t like a Soul Reapers, and it wasn’t like a hollow’s and nothing like a Quincy’s so Uryu had no clue what to make of her. She’s grown on him, a lot, lately, in the fact that she too had no clue what the hell she was (for awhile) and Uryu felt a bit comforted in the fact that she wasn’t secretly malicious and prepared to do Evil And Bad Things. They have a bit of fun training sessions together, both being archers, and they like to talk about the differences between what Uryu does as a Quincy, and what she does with a long bow as her shikai. They’ve formed a bit of a strange friendship together, and Uryu cares about her a good amount.

And Yamichi... doesn’t really care too much about how she’s perceived. She’s who she is, and if they don’t like that, then sucks. She’s not gonna change herself constantly to be palatable to people who don’t care about her. It did take awhile to get to that point, but she’s there now.
