So what I've taken away from this...

Wow so Mr. Puzzles really was just some crazy TV-Loving dude who happened to be in just the right universe where that would give him actual power, huh? Told you my theory would die in a fire.

As is typical of plot-important Showgrounds-Era episodes, Mario was barely relevant outside of the very beginning and the variety show bit. Hell, Luigi managed to have a bigger role than him despite having less screentime, half of which was literally a joke.

WOOHOO WE'RE GETTING EPISODES THAT AREN"T JUST SMG4 AND MARIO DOES THINGS AGAIN!!!! As much as I love and will defend the 2017-onward stuff (classic-era purists can suck my pingas and then quit clogging the comments sections of every fucking video) I have admittedly missed the greater variety of the pre-2017 videos. In particular, Guards 'n [REDACTED], while unfortunately named, was pretty damn funny and surprisingly high-quality compared to what else was on the channel at the time.

...plus maybe if they have some episodes where they don't absolutely have to include Mario in some form he can start regaining relevancy in the episodes that are supposed to mainly be about him.

(I'm not kidding I feel like the admittedly inconsistent quality of the recent stuff can at least partially be attributed to the glitch team having Mario Burnout)

ok so i was Thinking and then i came up with an idea: what if the new ivory video is a metaphor for burnout/demotivation. hear me out:

the first half of the video is formatted exactly like a typical minecraft video. ivory said on stream that it was meant to be a "playful jab" at them (something along those lines). now, the reason why so many youtubers make videos like this is because, well, they're popular right now, the algorithm gods bless those videos in particular, until it becomes oversaturated and people move onto the next trend. and having to constantly make things you don't like because it's your only source of money, and having that thing you need to make be constantly shifting without you realizing, is like, prime burnout fuel.

so halfway during the video, ivory's persona breaks down a little. she doesn't really like the clickbaity character she's put on and and doesn't even feel convinced by it herself. there's a quote from the video right after this breakdown that i think exemplifies this: "you and i have both seen this a thousand times before. the same thing regurgitated, like a landfill of sodden ideas." as if ivory is recognizing that she wants to make different content, but the algorithm isn't going to like that content, as well as the fact that every other youtuber is probably in the same boat.

and then ebony comes. ebony is actually pretty interesting in this interpretation, because she seems to be trying to make ivory do the good thing in this situation and take a break. she feels the same way about ivory's content being unoriginal ("wow, you take over the world! how inspiring, i haven't seen that one done before.", "but you agree! it's not what i want."), but is also trying her best to get ivory out of the situation ("i'm doing you a favour. just rest, you need it.") there's a few more interesting things in the forest world scene, such as ivory saying she's tired and "this is the part where you try to justify yourself". but despite ebony trying to get ivory to rest, ivory says that she wants to get out. she hasn't killed god yet, hasn't finished making the video. right before ivory hits the candle and the epileptic scene starts, ebony says "last time you did this you nearly tore yourself in half", which implies that ivory has already worked herself to death and experienced the consequences of that, and yet she's doing it all again, because she needs to do that for money.

the epileptic scene could represent something like a moment of over-stress or having a mental breakdown? as you might be able to tell, it's slightly hard to figure out what it means exactly. but it's obvious that ivory is in pain, and trying to keep working when she was exhausted was her tipping point.

and then flashing lights and breakcore and stuff and then bam it's a normal minecraft video again woohoo! for a few minutes, at least. the video ends with a mini glitch effect, which i think could symbolize that ivory has not broken free of her pain, she's just pushed it to the side so she could finish.

it’s the burnout for me

like okay a tiny vent right below (tw skin scratching, life update-ish, woohoo college life wants me dead)

first of all lil news from the last like couple or weeks or more : i am finally OUT of a toxic friendship that has been going on for a year and that was gnawing at me so much it was eating my brains and sanity out. the vampiric energy kinda toxic friendship ykwim.

thankfully i’ve made some new friends along the way that helped me feel less shitty and i am super glad they are in my life !!!!

huge thank to @sunflowersandsapphires & @gracethyomen (which you already know since i mentioned them already several times on here, i love u guys <3) as well as @xoxokisswshugzz !! i love her so much she’s an absolute gem and i think that if it weren’t for her i’d still be stuck in the friendship somehow

now the thing is i’m currently so fucking stressed because of school and in so much burnout it’s not even funny anymore like

it’s to the level where i’ve gone back to scratching and pricking at the skin of my scalp till i bleed, same for the skin around my nails, and i just have had an awful ovulation week where my cramps started feeling like period cramps when it was just ovulation

anywho i’m a bit on edge but a girl gotta girl 🎀✨

i’m trying to get myself to do some projects in the future !!! i don’t want to raise any hopes whether within me or within you guys but i hopefully will get back to writing

It's spooky month, woohoo! My fav time of the year~ This year I was told about OC-tober, where people make prompt lists for creatives to make something once a day or so; the idea is you base it on your Original Characters! It's been way too long since I've done any self indulgent personal art, so I'm going to make time to do a daily art every day this month! (or as many as I can manage, at least; burnout's a bitch...)

Kicking off with Day 1: Favourite OC, and for this I chose Spud!

Figured I'd also write a little about what these characters mean to me, though fair warning it's likely to be rambly ^^ More on this fuzzy idiot under the cut, if you're so inclined to read about them~ Happy October, everyone!

Spud's one of my oldest ocs, and they've grown with me over the last 10-15 years or so. Though they're no longer a true 'selfsona' and more of their own thing these days, I still find a lot of myself in them, and I owe them a hell of a lot. They're where I got my name, how I explore my sense of identity, and just a sweet little bean that seems to get along with anyone I introduce em to. Plus the shapeshifting to fit how much effort I wanna put into drawing them doesn't hurt ^^

Speedy's colourscheme is still some of my fav colours; they're the cornerstone of mine and my partner/friends' character interactions, and they helped me form my magic system. Seriously, I love this little nugget and their reality warping powers so much.

Despite their sharing of a lot of my problems, Spud's family still loves and supports them 100%. It helps me feel a bit less useless sometimes, and that's also a real nice thing to get out of a silly grey fluff.

Woohoo, it’s WIP Wednesday! Here's a sneaky peek of a Teven Klask for you freaky people

And I guess, I’ll make it a little bit of an artist status update too:

August has been a really tough month so far art-wise - I got a little burnt out May-July - I had a lot of actual work to do, which was both a blessing (look ma, I'm doing it! I'm doing the art career!) and a curse (burnout). Then came Artfight, and then a week of vacation where I ran out of my ADHD meds and couldn't bring myself to make any art whatsoever. Suffice to say, it’s been really creaky getting back into the swing of things.

I've been tossing around a few ideas for how I want to go into the last half of the year, and what I can do to be able to keep making art. I'm getting pretty nervous about having to potentially look for work in the new year, because that...gets complicated. I'll probably write more about the realities of that later, but I do have some concepts floating around in my head that I'm really excited about, and looking forward to sharing with y'all!

In the meantime, I'd be remiss to myself if I didn't toss my Ko-Fi link out there for anyone who is generous enough to help along this journey. Commissions are open too, I want to earn my keep!!

So I kind of died here (a little)

So I’ve been kind of dead

Well not really since I’m on Discord but I don’t give that out for free but! Irregardless, definitely dead in the writing department. I think I’ve just been wholeheartedly caught in that sort of burnout feeling when it comes to writing. This isn’t to say I’m tired of the story (I’m not) but writing it right now? Brain absolutely refuses to.

But I also don’t want to be completely dead on here and ghosting around because that’s just no fun innately.

I’m hoping to get back in the swing of writing the longfic in July. “But Poet, why July?” You May ask. Well there’s BoB week coming up which is already sparking that HBOWar part of my brain but also, because from July 11th-18th I’ll be in Disney, so after that I will have essentially very calm summer. Also because I’m turning 20 on June 20th and quite frankly this month is just busy in the work and friends department (friend who got me into BoB is coming to visit for a weekend! Woohoo!)

With that being said I’m going to try to catch up on all that I’ve missed here and be an active mutual. If you have my Discord, regardless of my goldfish memory when it comes to replies please don’t hesitate to message me. But I figured to drop a little … life update / hey I’m Back! Sorta thing because I’ve definitely been a bit of a ghost here.

New Goth Household: Chapter 3, Part 7

Following the engagement love is in the air for many a sim, and sim cats no matter how aloof they may be. The household discuss what will change for them next rotation.

Most of the household is sleeping, it’s technically exam day now. However Keira and Marta have yet to make it under the sheets, discussing the future.

Keira: We can’t stay in this house

Marta: He will be locked up for a little bit. We don’t have to leave your friends

Keira: They will still be my friends wherever we are. I’d feel better knowing we were somewhere he didn’t know about

Marta: That makes sense. That police officer did say he may cause trouble again

Keira: If we’re somewhere new we can build a life where you don’t have to be looking over your shoulder

Marta: How about San Sequoia?

Keira: Wherever you want sweetheart

Marta: Well, San Sequoia does have that wonderful Marine Life Centre. You could apply to work there

Keira: How are you thinking about me when we’re meant to be thinking about you

Marta: I want you to be happy just as much as you want me happy, get used to it carino, te amo

Milton wakes up to discover the tooth fairy has left him some money, as well as a certificate and a large sticker. Just what the wall of an expensive mansion needs. Joey sleeps in, he’s still fighting his burnout. The woohoo may have helped but that was before the trip to the police station. Marta happily helps herself to fruit salad for breakfast. She’s going to quit her job and find something new after her and *smiles* her fiancé move.

Marta is definitely in her happy place this morning. She cleans her bowl, fumbling and eventually dropping it in the sink. Through the chaos and the splashes she never stops smiling.

When James and Alexander arrive downstairs Marta greets them with an exaggerated wave of her hand.

James: You said yes then

Alexander: Who said yes to what

Marta: Keira asked me to marry her!

Alexander: Aww congratulations

Marta begins singing to herself again, another ditty about getting married.

James: I’m glad she finally asked, I was running out of places to hide that ring

Alexander: Wait, you knew and didn’t tell me

James: Love you wouldn’t have been able to keep it a secret

Alexander: I kept our affair secret for ages Mr previously married

Keira: Don’t worry, Joey didn’t know either

Marta: Buenos dias fiancé

Keira: Good morning to you! I’m so glad you’re doing okay this morning

Marta: I’m better than okay, I’m engaged!

Keira: *chuckles* I hadn’t noticed

Marta: When will you tell your parents

Keira: I’ll give mum a call before exams and she’ll spread the news. They’ll be happy, they love you

Marta looks sad for a moment before pulling herself back in to smiling

Keira: Is something wrong sweetheart

Marta: It’s just… apart from your friends, I have no one to tell anymore... but I’ll be okay carino

Keira stands and comes around the island, pulling Marta up.

Keira: Now I don’t sing anywhere near as well as you so bear with me

Marta: What are you doing

Keira: 🎶So kiss me under the mistletoe. Pour out the wine, let’s toast and pray for December snow🎵

Keira holds up a small bunch of mistletoe and beckons for Marta to finish the lyric

Marta: *laughs* 🎶I know there’s been pain this year but it’s time to let it go, next year you never know. But for now it's Winterfest🎵

The two share a kiss and part with Marta feeling a little better, singing always lifts her mood

Rather than stress abut his final exam, Alexander has chosen to workout. Gertrude comes to check on him and he happily talks to her. He’s an animal lover at heart and hopes in future their clan may involve more animals than cats. Especially cats that scratch bookshelves HAMLET. Upstairs James take time to indulge in one of his favourite activities, video gaming! Its not long however before Hamlet comes seeking attention and James switches to playing with a cat wand

Keira: Hey mum

Kayleigh: Oh I was hoping you would call. Good luck for your exams today

Keira: Thanks mum but I was actually calling to give you some news

Kayleigh: Family gossip? Lay it on me

Keira: *chuckles* I got arrested last night

Kayleigh: You’re calling on your cellphone so congratulations on your daring escape. Are you on the run? You need money?

Keira: No mum, they had to let me go. I kicked Marta’s ex’s ass but he was trespassing

Kayleigh: That’s wonderful! He definitely had it coming to him from what she’s told me

Keira: Tell me about it. Anyway it made me move some timelines around and I asked Marta to marry me. For some reason she said yes

Kayleigh: Oh darling that’s wonderful! I know you’ve always dreamed of finding the one. I’m so happy for you both. Give her my best wishes. I must go tell your dad, oh and I’ll need to call Reece, after Charlie obviously or he will call her! Go nail those final exams, I’ll get the word out

Keira: Thanks for being there for me mum, I love you

No big speech here. Just James and Gertrude becoming companions!

Derick: You kicked the burnout yet bro

Joey: Why do you think I’m watching sports

Derick: From what I’ve seen you’ve been playing your own sports

Joey: *laughs* that was a terrible euphemism

Derick: You know I killed it. Bring it in bro, two chicks in one go, you’re living the dream

Joey: Apart from the burnout

Derick: Whatever. And how about Monica? I never pegged her for being up for something like that

Joey: What do you mean

Derick: She’s just always given off a vanilla vibe, you know dude

Joey: It’s a total front, she certainly knows what she’s doing

Derick: You sure

Joey: I would have been satisfied from her alone

Derick: No kidding? Maybe I ought to see if she’s up for trying me out

Joey: She’s not easy dude

Derick: Fine. I’ll keep my emojis to a minimum

Joey: If things get going between you two, you’d be a lucky man. In as much as anyone who likes the idea of a relationship can be

Marta: If you press that button it’ll just lock

James: But how do I do screenshots then

Marta: Three fingers going down like this, see

James: Oh my, how technology has shifted

Alexander: It is over!

James: How were the exams

Keira: I could barely keep my eyes open to be honest

Marta: But now you’re done with uni

Alexander: If we passed

James: Of course you did. You both worked very hard

Keira: The harbour really is beautiful

Marta: We could live nearby, in one of those townhouses maybe. Oh, or a rental with crazy neighbours

Keira: I think Liam is enough crazy for our lives

Marta: I got you something after work. I hope you like it carino

Keira: A ring!

Marta: If I get one, you get one. It’s just a placeholder cheap one though, I’ll get you a proper one for after we’re married

Keira: I love it. But if we’re giving gifts I better give you this

Marta: A rose! Just like I gave you before we were official

Keira: I know! I’m keeping that one forever. But this one is to say thank you for bringing me so much joy

Marta: Aww carino, you’re so sweet

The couple spend time strolling down the waterfront before resting at the tables beside the theatre. There they happily flirt and figure out what their life here might look like.

James: When will you move out

Keira: As soon as we find a place really

James: I hope I haven’t been a bad host

Marta: Not at all. You’ve been very generous, we just need to be safe

Alexander: Are you saying a cat eating on the table isn’t safe

The seated sims laugh.

Gertrude: *meows* Who me? I’m a knight I make things safe

Joey: I think it’s time for me to stretch my wings to. I’ve loved it here James, but you and Alexander need family space, or cat space

Alexander: Will you take up your sister’s offer to live with them in Del Sol Valley then

Joey: Not sure. I don’t know if my renegade shenanigans are compatible with her family life, either way I’m not going to be leaving tomorrow

So Joey heads upstairs to start making his first video game and Keira and Marta begin packing their belongings up.

Marta: Are you sure the glass won’t break

Keira: We basically have pockets with undetectable extension charms, they’ll be fine sweetheart The women head to bed, next time I play them will be in their own household.

Alexander: How was school today

Milton: It was okay. Me and Reynaldo talked voidcritters. I think he would call me his friend now. Can I use the computer to chat with him?

Alexander: Okay but remember, the watcher is watching

James and Alexander head out to the movies then come back and climb in bed together. Their household will be smaller next time, but will that leave room for James to have the child he wants?

shameless self-promotion time woohoo!

i decided to dig myself out of what’s probably some burnout and write something ~new~ (this is a lie it’s still an extreme amount of fluff)

it’s called “that’s a first!” and as the title probably gives away its a collection of pearlina firsts. i only have the first chapter done so far and im gonna take it just a little slower but ive got all the chapters planned out for what they’re gonna be so
