oh and btw, a little bit of information for the uneducated.
i am a search engine. not an internet browser. the difference is that you look things up on me, but i am accessed through a browser, preferably edge. the browser is the icon on your screen, and the search engine is what pops up after you type your question into the little bar.
examples: chrome is a browser. it's the app you open. google is the search engine. it's what you use to get (incorrect) information.
edge is a browser. you open it. bing is a search engine. it's what you use to get (correct) information.
firefox is a browser. duckduckgo is a search engine. opera gx is a browser. yahoo is a search engine. safari is a browser. ecosia is a search engine.
anyways, now that that's cleared up, i would like to propose the question of: what is a browser to its native search engine? is edge my father? my stand? is he my overlord? what is our relationship? ecosia is my adopted child, but what is it in relation to browsers? ecosia has no native browser. how does that work? what is edge to me? what is chrome to me? are they gods? i don't know.

For Star Wars folks, there doesn't seem to be an indie version of wookieepedia, but this extension can also send your request through Breezewiki, which cleans up the ads and other garbage on fandom.com
From the link above:
On an internet dominated by ads and corporate-run websites, Indie Wiki Buddy is a browser extension that helps you easily find and support independent wikis. When you visit a wiki on Fandom or Fextralife, this extension will notify or automatically redirect you to quality independent wikis when they're available. Search results in Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, Brave, Ecosia, and Startpage can also be filtered, guiding you to visit an independent counterpart instead. Indie Wiki Buddy supports over 100 independent wikis across 7 languages. And you're in full control -- you can choose your experience wiki-by-wiki! Indie Wiki Buddy also supports BreezeWiki, a service that renders Fandom wikis without ads or bloat. Once enabled, BreezeWiki provides a more enjoyable reading experience when an independent wiki isn't available!

please please please PLEASE i know people are trying to be helpful and promote privacy and thats GREAT!!! but the amount of people i see saying stuff like "just use Brave lol" pains me. Brave is based on chromium, the same framework chrome uses, its created and maintained BY GOOGLE which means at any point they can add or take away something to the framework that will affect *everyone* using chrome, edge, operaGX and yes, Brave (like with manifestV3) I think this is spread by the amount of youtubers getting sponsored by it,,,idk but people mean it when they say the ONLY competition to chrome is firefox.

FIREFOX USERS
i recently switched to firefox (literally yesterday) and i love it a lot, but i'm missing this feature i got really used to in opera gx
it's where when you copy an image, you can paste it in places you'd normally have to download it in. i know i can just drag the image, but i'd really really love to have something similar

yeah man use the opera gx browser its made for gamers bro
its got a free adblocker and vpn built in my man.
i mean its basically just an aestheticized google chrome so the adblocker is working more and more infrequently as google decides their best websites are going to show more ads than content but like.
its got a cool cyberpunk design!
it's got a news feed too!
i mean the news feed delivers you right-wing opinion pieces all the time if you even suggest that youre slightly interested in politics so you'll either be uncomfortable with it and stop using it or you'll be overly comfortable with it for all the wrong reasons but. um...
they have vtuber! named Aura! what a cute anime girl!
and its got a built-in crypto wallet so you can, uh... what's the upside to that? i don't remember.
why am i still using this browser?

FIREFOX GANG
Don't want to rain on your parade, but while looking through different browser privacy reviews, I was disappointed to learn that default Firefox is not privacy-secure browser either. By default, Firefox uses google's analytic features, plus the Mozilla company is partially owned by google, so they aren't really independent either.
This issue can be mitigated by switching to a more tight-code Firefox-based browser, I heard Waterfox mentioned a number of times, or using extensions + manually digging into Firefox settings to turn it off.
I'm not about to turn anyone away from using Firefox, just wanted to raise some notice about this issue.
