Jeffbritta — I really like them they compel me quite a bit! I thought about putting them higher but because part of their whole thing is that they’re the normie toxic hets who are so basic in concept that they work all the way around to be subversive and fun I thought this ranking made sense for them. Also it’s true that the first time I was watching Comm it took me awhile to warm to them but eventually did and then on my second watch through I got real attached. Hand in unloveable hand core. Trobed — they’re great they compel me Geothermal Escapism makes me cry so much. I don’t think I have anything really insightful to add they’re the moment. Abedison — in a lot of ways this is my favorite community dynamic… they are my two favorite characters so that’s part of it. I love them romantically or platonically or queer-platonically, they’re two bisexuals in love they’re lesbian bi solidarity they’re a yuri couple nonbinary Abed rights they’re in a qpr with Troy they’re in a polyamorous relationship with Troy they’re in a fake relationship to cover up identity fraud one if them (could be either) committee and/or a murder one of them (Annie) committed, they’re neurotic freaks who understand each other best and they’re worsties. I did write multiple romantic Annie/Abed fics during quarantine with an account that’s now orphaned. My feelings on them as a ship are less cut and dry than on Trobed and Jeffbritta though hence placements.

Jabed — I also go back and forth on platonic/romantic with them but either way am compelled, a fascinating dynamic and foil ship, the most important relationship of the show in some ways. Critical Film Studies is usually the episode that puts me in a shippy mood where they’re concerned because there are Vibes present in that one.

Brittannie — the thing with them is I find them compelling but mostly from an Annie perspective because I very much read her as having feelings for Britta at points in the show and am interested in what it means for her, I’m less interested in seeing them together romantically in most scenarios except for the Brittannie Carmilla au I wrote one time, that was compelling to Me. Also I do flip flop on how I feel about them if you’d asked me when I first got into community I would have been more enthusiastic and maybe I’ll change my mind again next rewatch.

Frankie x Britta — I remember being into them but I don’t remember the justification much but.. it’s a good dynamic cute first date idea surprise a girl in her car and bond over nihilism in a round about way. There is a balancing effect there.

Summary: "Britta puts her hand on Frankie’s thigh and frowns. “Come on, Franks; you won’t let me help organize Leonard’s funeral, you won’t let me give you my special brownies, and you won’t let me therapize you. What can I do? I want to help.” She gives Frankie sad googly eyes and starts stroking her thigh. “Administration is hard. You’re swamped in paperwork. And I...I know how much the...revolution”—she almost whispers that part—“has been stressing you out. Let me help you.”

As much as Frankie’s trying to stay cognizant, she’s barely hearing Britta’s words, too focused on the logistics of removing the 100 pizza slices stuck to the ceiling of Study Room F. She sucks in some snot that’s dripped down her nose.

Britta’s face scrunches up and she takes her hand off of Frankie’s thigh. “Ew.”

Frankie gives her a tired glare.

"I mean, um, your bodily functions are completely normal and are nothing to be ashamed of and I love you?” Britta nervously smiles, looking like a cat that was just scolded for sinking her claws into her human’s legs.

Frankie briefly looks at Britta, back down and sighs. “A hot chocolate would be nice."

(While a revolution at Greendale majorly stresses out Frankie, Britta makes her a hot chocolate in an attempt at cheering her up. You can guess how well all that goes.)'

Ok I know that Community has been over for a long time, and the movie might not be out for quite a while longer, but I still have Thoughts. So.

Troy had better come back, we all know good and well that he was the heart of the group, it never worked quite as well without him. I could deal with the weird characterization, but not with the lack of such a central character

Shirley doesn't have a super logical path back, since she now lives with family

So I think that there is going to be some sort of disastrous event. Not bad enough to kill any of our main characters, but enough to bring back together the ones who are now very far apart

Maybe... Greendale needs to be saved. And in all honesty, I"m guessing the dean will be the instigator of this event

Honest opinion: best, worst, and most "I don't get it" Community ships

Ooooh fun! I like throwing other media in on this blog sometimes.

Best: Full disclosure I did love Jeff/Annie when watching live back in the day. It seemed more ok when I was Annie's age than it does now I'm almost Jeff's. I still like the story though and don't agree with the criticism - it's quite obvious in retrospect that we were never meant to actually want them to get together.

As for now, I think my heart really belongs to Trobedison - Annie/Abed/Troy as a triad. They're such a fun dynamic as a trio, and it fits with the arc of Abed and Troy having a life outside of *only* each other.

Worst: I don't think Community really has a "bad" ship. They're all pretty entertaining or serve their narrative purpose. I'm gonna go with "the way Troy/Britta was written in S4".

I Don't Get It: Frankie/Britta, in that I don't get why they're not way more popular than they are. They're the perfect odd couple: dysfunctionally competent x functionally incompetent. Not to overstate it but they're literally soulmates.
