Modern ZoLu AU where Zoro and Sanji are initially closer friends with Ace & Sabo cos they are closer in age and don’t have much to do with their younger sister Luffy except that Sanji one called her cute for which Zoro called him a creep bc of age difference (Luffy still a minor).

Now Zoro was gone for two years to train sword fighting with Mihawk and reconnects with old friends when he’s back. He goes to a party at Ace’s place and meets a cute boy with messy hair and an energetic personality. Zoro’s automatically flirting with him. At first Zoro had no idea who he was but he had known Zoro and dragged him into conversations and around the party.

Sanji comes in later. Within the last two years he had a lot of realisations about himself and isn’t as straight as he used to be. (How much he changed is up to you)

Anyway, now he greets Zoro by calling him a creep in return. Zoro doesn’t understand why and Sanji has to explain to him that the boy he’s chatting up is Ace & Sabo’s now little brother Luffy who went from girl to boy by cutting his hair short, getting top surgery and somehow gain a scar under his left eye.

Zoro instantly panics about what Ace and Sabo are gonna do to him. But can’t find the self control not to flirt with Luffy. He’s irresistible. At least Luffy isn’t a minor anymore.

Help 😭 What do you mean age difference? It's only two years- But yeah, Zoro would use any opportunity to call Sanji a creep so I believe that would happen somehow.

No matter the universe, Zoro is down bad for Luffy. But I honestly think Luffy would be the one to approach him first because he finds Zoro interesting and he remembers him from when he used to come over two years ago. So they start talking but Luffy doesn't mention that they know each other already, and Zoro is instantly captivated by this guy's stupidity because that's what happens in every AU with these two. They're just equally dumb and in love. Soulmate type of thing. They're flirting or, you know, doing their version of flirting. In which 'Do you want to see my swords?' isn't a sexual innuendo but like, genuinely, Zoro is talking about swords the whole time and Luffy loves it.

Zoro doesn't find out that's Sabo and Ace's brother until Sanji tells him. Sanji won't stop laughing and saying he's completely fucked because his older brothers go feral whenever somebody tries to touch Luffy, but Zoro doesn't pay much attention to it. I think he wouldn't care, tbh. Luffy is independent and he can make his own decisions.

I personally think it'd be hilarious if Luffy and Zoro started dating or having something romantic going on and the only reason why Ace and Sabo don't like it is not because they're overprotective (they are not, actually, those are just rumors and actually the only one who acts kind of protective is Sabo) but because Zoro? Really? Zoro? He's such a gym-bro in every universe and he won't shut up about swords. The only thing he's good at is maths and he won't stop falling asleep everywhere. The guys love their friend, but Zoro???? Besides, Sabo is just worried this relationship might distract Luffy from studying (<- Older brother who raised Luffy like he was his own really doesn't want Luffy to stop studying like Ace did. There's a whole drama about it because Luffy doesn't want to study either but it's different with Ace and-- Yeah. You can tell where this is going).

I think Zoro wouldn't be scared at first, and when he is a bit concerned for his safety is only because Sabo has that "Hello :) What were you two doing so late at night together? :)" type of mom creepy energy.

Marcosabo thoughts where Marco holds Sabo down with that crazy beast zoan strength and heals the wounds he’s come home with

Sabo hates it, spits that he’s never gonna be able to do his work right if he doesn’t suffer if he doesnt heal naturally, the healing via phoenix proxy method still hurts but it never lasts for long

Marco remains calm, keeps him in a hold Sabo has never to his dismay learnt to break out of and asks him why does he want to hurt? When he can fix it, hasnt he had enough?

Sabo always thinking of others before himself snaps a retort that viciously asks Marco if he will play healer for the entire army and Marco scoffs and presses his fingers into the edge of a laceration just to see him flinch

“I don’t have any personal commitments to them.”

Sabo looks stricken for a moment, hes always so expressive during these healing sessions, twists in Marco’s grip his mouth tilted in a tight unhappy line

“You’re a selfish bastard.” Sabo hisses, his good eye glitters with something more than anger, shining between the strands of sweaty blonde hair sticking to his face.

“So we’ve found out.” Marco agrees and tugs Sabo back, who comes unwillingly, but, with a burn of satisfaction that Marco had to transform his hand into talons just to keep him close.

“I’m going to do the fractured rib now. If you think you’re going to pass out—“ Marco nods at his burning breast, phoenix flames wreathing his clavicles and torso in a soft invitation.

Sabo glowers at him, “Ace hates it when you get like this.”

“I dont really care what Ace likes and doesn’t like me doing to you.” Marco slowly lets go of Sabo to move his hand down to where the bloody bruise mottles across Sabo’s flank and radiates in a throbbing swell to his hip.

“You—“ Sabo almost bites off his own tongue, teeth snapping shut over an agonised groan, blue flame burns against his skin, penetrates deep and invasive and unnatural as he feels his insides, his wounds react to the phoenix.

“Lucky.” Marco murmurs, eyes glowing a faint violet, clearly fixated on Sabo’s trembling whitened lips, “I would’ve healed that too.”

Sabo doesnt doubt that, he’d rather choke on his own blood than allow the phoenix into his mouth.

He refuses to moan in the wash of relief that comes with his fractured ribs being reset, refuses to give Marco that satisfaction.

But he cant stop the tears spilling down his cheeks and loathes that Marco obviously enjoys to see it.

Hi friend! Thanks for the advice earlier and now this submission. I’m so happy that you turned in my first request. I don’t know if this is that good but, I hope it is. I love Ace and Sabo so much! They are in my top five favorite anime characters of all time!

Ace and Sabo Boyfriend Headcanons:

Sabo:

Would 100% put his top hat on you when you were upset or worried about him.  He’d think you were the cutest.

Lots of head pats if you are shorter than him.

And lots of hugs all the time

Lots of kisses too but usually not in public

He’s just one big softy for you.

I feel like he would be that boyfriend who would never get jealous.  Boys got confidence for days.

He would be so clueless at the start.  And probably go to Koala or Hack for advice.

After about maybe 6-7 times asking for advice, he’d try to do something romantic on his own.

It’d be a success and he’d come up with ideas on his own.

Then, he’s literally an expert on romance.  He would write a book on it!

Like with Luffy, EVERYONE would hear about you all the time.

They’d get sick of hearing about you but happy that Sabo is happy.

Rarely fight, but if you do, he will apologize first

Even if it’s not his fault

Even though he’s busy, he’d make time for you.  Especially for cuddling.

He’d be very protective.  If something seemed shady or dangerous, he’d keep you behind him so you know he will protect you no matter what

But he would let you have some time to yourself.  You know if you needed him he’d be there but he would let you hang out with friends or go places without him.

Probably keeps a picture of you with him for when he goes on missions.

It calms him down and helps him to remember why he is doing what he is doing.  It’s all to make a better world for you and everyone else.

Ace:

I love Ace so much.  My sister says if he was real he would most definitely be my soulmate.

He’s 100% a golden retriever boyfriend.  You can’t convince me otherwise.

He’d be your biggest fan! Like always there for you cheering you on and being there to talk whenever you need it.

Would talk to Whitebeard about you all the time, maybe even more than Luffy.

He would be protective even more than Sabo.  He knows what people like Blackbeard (if I said what I wanted to say about this one I’d be banned from tumblr) are capable of and feels like his whole world would fall apart if he lost you.

Would be with you 98% of the time

He would be the most jealous boy ever. 

Literally, you could be talking to a female friend and he would get all pouty and insecure.

He’d think he’s not good enough and you’ll leave him

Poor Ace 😔

But you assure him that you only love him and would never leave him.

He would literally engulf you in a bear hug or kiss you all over your face.

Marco would make fun of him so much.

Lots of hugs and kisses

Has a least one arm around you at all times

He’s not the best with romantic stuff like Sabo but he tries without getting advice.

Then Marco and Thatch have to clean up his messes.

After a while, they plan it and he just has to pretend he came up with the idea.

You know he is playing along, but you are happy that he’s trying to be the perfect boyfriend.

He would probably get a tattoo for you (this was actually Ace’s ideas and not Marco’s or Thatch’s).  Something you picked out for him probably.

He would most definitely be your personal human space heater.  You’d never be cold when he’s around.

We all know he’s a little stubborn, so if you got into a fight, he’d wouldn’t apologize if it was your fault at first.

Then he’d panic and think you were going to leave him and apologize.

Marco and Thatch would again make fun of him.

They will not let this boy live any of this down. They will forever make fun of him.

When he dies (I’m definitely crying now and so are you!  Unless your Blackbeard, then you can leave), he mentions you and thanks you for loving him.

Well his visuals, and humor is more likely Law yet his intelligence is a mix of them..

He rarely smile around people and a little introverted as heck yet when we are both alone he smiles around my corny and dark humor things and was keeping up with my energy LMAO i often ask him sometimes "are you tired of taking care of a girlfriend with ADHD?" and he's like "No" with a freaking straight face.

And when I tell you his intelligence for me is kinda a plot twist cause that man knows advance math and was helping my friends from their math assignments and even mine even though I told him not to 😭.

Even some girls are lowkey falling for him due to his brains and some for visuals but he rejects them immediately and sometimes he reject them bluntly 😭, yet his kindness is like sabo with pure intentions and just like I said he rarely smiles, it's like he smiles i the said person deserves it which is funny to me.

Also the way he thinks about me is kinda like law on those LawLu fanfics where he cares too much for luffy and YES HE REALLY IS 😭 plus he was understanding since I'm a mentally unstable person so he's very careful of things he wanted to seriously say and do.

Sometimes I always ask him "What did you found in me that you didn't found in others?" and he said "You're kindness and the big energy you have despite of being down, like I just wanna take care of you and give all the love you deserve" AND I WAS TOO CLOSE TO CRY AT THAT MOMENT 😭 HE WAS LIKE A BIG BROTHER LIKE SABO WHO CARES TOO MUCH but it feels good that he cares yet its funny he doesn't care to others even to his family since he has a little problem when handling his family.

And to his humor...well let's just say I am more concerning than him and when I told you I always got surprised whenever he cracks a chuckle or laugh whenever I dropped the more dark and concerning jokes out there.

killer doesn't know how to react at any affection you show towards him. "do you want me to brush your hair, my love?", his baby blue eyes go wide and he almost starts choking on his own spit. 'l-love?' he reached out and held your hand, in a way that almost seemed like he was afraid to break you, 'pet names... do you like them too?'

bartolomeo starts dramatically crying when the words leave your lips. "have you seen luffy's new bounty, my love?", that phrase was like a bomb that you simply dropped on his lap and acted like it was nothing. his cheeks turned red and he started crying, trying to act like your words did not affect him. as he did a little dance, he watched you place the new bounty poster on the wall and he felt himself fall a little harder for you.

you smile at the way luffy’s eyebrows furrow and his lips pull into a pout as he ponders your question for a moment. you find your smile widening as luffy stands up, stretches his arms to the sky and shouts with so much joy you can feel it radiate from his body, “you’re you! that’s what i like. no wait- that’s what i love!”

sanji looks slightly taken aback by your question, “if you’re asking me that, it seems i have failed as a boyfriend! im so sorry, my love.” to immediately right his wrong, sanji takes your hand in his own, kneels before you and begins listing off each and every thing he likes (loves) about you, punctuating each one with a kiss to your hand.

“your ass,” shanks instantly replies with a chuckle, but when he notices you’re unimpressed by his answer he pulls you into his lap and says reassuringly, “you are the love of my life. i love every single thing about you.” and when you playfully retort ”much better” he can’t help but tease, “and for real i reaaaaally love your ass.”

“well, there’s nothing i ‘like’ about y-“ sabo begins before quickly correcting himself, “no wait, what i mean is… im so in love with you that there’s nothing i only ‘like’ about you.” he pauses before continuing, “does that make sense? there’s nothing to like - only things to love!” he finishes his sentiment with a firm kiss to your lips.

law mistakes your genuine curiosity as questioning his love for you, so he immediately stops what he is doing, turns to face you and apologize, “im so sorry i don’t tell you enough. i’ll do better.” and ever a man of his word, you wake up the next morning to hand written list of all the things he likes about you (and the next day, and the next).

zoro pauses for a moment, practically malfunctioning as his mind blanks while he struggles to come up with an answer, because he doesn’t even know where to begin, “i-i uh- i don’t know…” but then you’re turning away from him with a pout and glossy eyes and he surprises himself when he blurts, “there’s just too much to choose from.” then you’re asking him to repeat himself and zoro complies, saying (much more confidently this time around), “i wouldn’t even know where to start because there’s too many things i like about you.”
