On a quest to draw better old men.
Handler Walter is here for no particular reason. (I love him)
Hummel is 60-something. He is a very fit old man, on account he can manhandle Finn who is like at least 120lbs.
I am not sure how old Bonesteel is. How old sounds like he can be trusted with a foreign soil base? No Improbably Young Anime Generals here!!!!!
Washburn is younger than the other 3.

no offence (full offence) but if you genuinely rank tmnt 2014 above the next mutation you have bad taste and hate women and have no joy in your heart

Nut job “great white hunter” who names his weapons and acts like they’re real women.
Seem to be a trend, but I gotta say, Bonesteel from Next Mutation was way more fun. I attribute that to Scott McNeil being a wicked cool guy willing to be playful and not afraid to make fun of himself or his roles.❤️

Rise! Simon Bonesteel

I know, I know, I change fandoms like other people change their underwear!
In case you thought Bonesteel is pointing a huge lego at you - this is an ancient japanese multi barrel rifle he calls Miyumi.
Also why would anyone bring back characters from the least liked tmnt itteration ever? Because the stakes are so low! If I would write a beloved well known character from the comics or the other shows into my fanfiction, I might not meet people's expectations. But when it comes to Long Wang (the Dragon Lord) or Bonesteel I can only win, since they are so easy to improve. But not everything that scratches the bottom of the barrel is easy to improve ... In fact, Dr. Queeze (that whitewashed Dollar store edition of Stockman) and Wick are hopeless. So they didn't return for my fanfic.

Do April, Sunita, Irma, and Raph have girls night? Is Mikey included? What would they do?
Do they all have a distinct smell, or just a group smell? <- weird question but my siblings and I kind of pair off with smells, it's odd
Did the teetlez have any big hyper fixations growing up? If so, what where they? Do any of them collect stuff? (rocks, pins, stickers) stuff like that, small and easy to hide
Are any of them a helpless romantic?
Will other villains (besides Shredder) be introduced? Is there a leader once missions become a thing? Who is the medic?
You mentioned the farmhouse, will Leo be in a coma?
Who is the most in touch with their feelings? Does Raph get better about opening up?
When the turtles are 'sick', would splinter ever take their clothes or bedsheets?
girls night out!!
they do have girls night (smtimes w/ mikey) where they chill, talk abt their problems, catch up, watch disney shows, cook, bake, ect.
smells!!
raph smells like mustard (most of the time) but after a jog or going out he usually smells like wet concrete
leo smells like their laundry cleaner (or just clean clothes in general) but after dancing in the subway for money he smells like carboard and greasy fast food
don usually smells like frebreeze unless he just came back from his work shop, in which he would smell like pennies
mikey smells like burnt marshmellows, but after his usual hobbies of going places (the movie theaters) he smells like buttered popcorn
splinter smells like almonds
april smells like paper
casey smells like spray paint usually but after a hockey game (every other day) he smells like sweat and adrenaline
barry smells like his lab, full of crystals, metals, and mystic energies
hyperfixations!!
they all love avatar (the movie w/blue cat alien ppl) and had a poster abt it in leo’s room (it was blue and leo has always had dibs on blue things period) until he ‘got sick’
donnie has a hobbit sticker he has stuck on the back of his laptop bc he loves the book/movies
mikey has a pin of the jeepers creepers movie of (that rosé tattoo that one guy had) he cherishes with his life (he also has a southpark hoodie but we don’t talk abt that)
raph has a supernatural (yes the tv show w/ 15 seasons) mini poster that he has hid behind his drawers and a gravity falls t-shirt he wear smtimes when he goes to sleep
leo has a sonic the hedgehog hoodie he wears smtimes when splinter isn’t around. he also has a camp halfblood sweatpants he wears to bed on most nights.
splinter makes fun of them for their fandoms/hyperfixations (sad sad frfr)
raph and leo are defo helpless romantics
lore stuff?? maybe
yes including: bebop and rocksteady, baxter stockman, big mama, slash (not rlly a bad guy more like morally grey vigilante), karai, and simon bonesteel
donnie is medic, no arguments
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: no one is leader in this au, they all have their own roles:
mikey - the combatant + scout
raph - the tank/brawn + protector
donnie - medic + engineer
leo - strategist + scout
no leo does not get into a coma, but raph does
mikey is the most intuned w/ his emotions (why he got his powers first) but raph has to do a LOT of healing before he can express his emotions correctly
no he does not take clothing or bedsheets or furniture, only possessions, things that make them happy and display their personality. things he knows they will miss dearly.
thx for the ask i love talking abt my au :3

i remember some months ago you talking about brainstorming a possible venus miniseries, i really hope it actually becomes real someday bc as a venus fan, a venus miniseries written by you would be a dream come true. also i know it wouldnt be possible bc of copyright issues, but i think a idw version of bonestell from next mutation would be a great villain for a venus story. anyways, i really love how you write venus and i hope to see more of your version of her even after 150
Thank you! I would love to do a Venus mini-series at some point, yes! Fingers crossed. I'd also love to do Bonesteel but yeah he's off-limits as far as I know, but it would be easy to do a new big game hunter type character with a different name that homages the original character.

@triviallytrue we are debating the formation of a divided Korea (mutual vs unilateral), here is Dean Rusk, the member of the State-War-Navy Coordinating Committee (SWINK) who determined the border:
We finally reached a compromise that would keep at least some US forces on the mainland, a sort of toehold on the Korean peninsula for symbolic purposes. During a SWINK meeting on August 14, 1945, the same day of the Japanese surrender, Colonel Charles Bonesteel and I retired to an adjacent room late at night and studied intently a map of the Korean peninsula. Working in haste and under great pressure, we had a formidable task: to pick a zone for the American occupation. Neither Tic nor I was a Korea expert, but it seemed to us that Seoul, the capital, should be in the American sector. We also knew that the US Army opposed an extensive area of occupation. Using a National Geographic map, we looked just north of Seoul for a convenient dividing line but could not find a natural geographical line. We saw instead the thirty-eighth parallel and decided to recommend that.
SWINK accepted it without too much haggling, and surprisingly, so did the Soviets. I had thought they might insist on a line farther south in view of our respective military positions. No one present at our meeting, including, two young American colonels, was aware that at the turn of the century the Russians and Japanese had discussed spheres of influence in Korea, divided along the thirty-eighth parallel. Had we known that, we almost surely would have chosen another line of demarcation. Remembering those earlier discussions, the Russians might have interpreted our action as acknowledgment of their sphere of influence in Korea north of the thirty-eighth parallel. Any future talk about the agreed-upon reunification of Korea would be seen as mere show. But we were ignorant of all this, and SWINK’s choice of the thirty-eighth parallel, recommended by two tired colonels working late at night, proved fateful.
Source is Jongsoo Lee's The Partition of Korea After WW2, which this isn't 100% my area but I think Lee is a pretty-go person on this one. Later on they remark that we have no internal records of a Soviet discussion of the acceptance, but what we do have suggested that they were pleased with the agreement as it gave them 50% of Korea, far larger than the 25% they got of Germany, and for a war they did much less in.
And the quote also is good I think in showing that there was no show of force - the US was actually surprised at what they got, knowing that 'the respective military position' meant the Russian army could simply have kept going, no US forces were imminent.
Obviously the later cementing of a divided Korea is extremely complicated, but the initial division was done by mutual agreement between all parties who were gonna be involved (Sorry Korean people, you very much alas were not gonna be).

Working on today's prompt, I was reminded of one of my favorite scenes in TNM.
So Donnie and Leo have just coordinated a very neat move on the dance floor, and this gal in a sheep-themed outfit (it's actually a pretty cute costume) sashays right up to Donnie.
Sheep Gal: Great moves~. Where'd you guys learn how to dance?
Donnie: Uhhhhh, Splinter High! The Kicking Foot Institute of Modern Ninja Dance.
Sheep Gal: Cool. I think my cousin went there!
Donnie: Really?
At this point, Donnie is somehow totally enamored of Sheep Gal and, therefore, unaware of Leo, who is fully in his face. Initially, for no apparent reason, but then Leo catches sight of Bonesteel.
Leo: Yo, Donnie! Big bird with weapons at 4 o'clock.
Donnie: Well, call me at 4 o'clock.

do you know any fiction witchy books that shows witchcraft in a more down to earth way?
There is so much witchcraft fiction out there these days and most of it I haven't read.
Terry Pratchett's Granny Weatherwax (his Disc World novels) is the most down-to-earth while living up in the mountains witch you'll ever find. It's rumored Terry studied with the British witches and there are some subtle (or not so subtle) digs on modern witchcraft in his books. Particularly the Tiffany Aching novels.
While not specifically witchcraft - Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea novels would be high on my list.
And for really down to earth, Sharyn McCrumbs Appalachian Ballad novels come to mind. They aren't witchcraft novels (and may possibly make you cry) but the character you're looking for is Nora Bonesteel. The character is based on a real person and is a strong example of the down to earth while living up in the mountains traditions.

Favorite TV show (ignoring Worst Mutation) VAs for each turtle? -Clarke, Sinterniklaas, Green and Schwartz for Leo -Paulsen, Abbey, Astin or Miller for Raph -Gordon, Riegel, Paulsen or Brener for Donnie -Coleman, Grayson, Cipes or Smith for Mikey
(I know Rise is going to be weighted probably higher because of preferences, but I'd still be curious. Also, I keep coming to your blog right after/while you're dealing with the Worst People Possible, so I figured you could use some levity.)
I AM A NEXT MUTATION FAN DONT CALL IT THAT!

Did this for lunisolar - year of the dragon. This is JingYi - another OC from my Rise fanfic in a Thai Saree with lots of metallic colors and crystal gems 😚. Though... she's not in the top 3 of my best written OCs for this story. That would be
No #1 Rise! Bonesteel
No #2 Kaeo
No #3 Lord Apsu
But she's so much fun to draw and paint! 😄She's a shapeshifting yokai based on Shuimu and Chimei Wangliang - water demons from Chinese mythology. Okay - why's she Chinese and wears traditional Thai clothing? Because she was transportet to Thailand in animal form and fell into Eddaneid's hands.
By the way, this is the fanfic:

Description: Fresh out of West Point, John Howard arrived for his first tour in Vietnam in 1965, the first full year of escalation when U.S. troop levels increased to 184,000 from 23,000 the year before. When he returned for a second tour in 1972, troop strength stood at 24,000 and would dwindle to a mere 50 the following year. He thus participated in the very early and very late stages of American military involvement in the Vietnam War. His two tours—one as a platoon commander and member of an elite counterguerrilla force, the second as a senior advisor to the South Vietnamese—provide a fascinating lens through which to view not only one soldier’s experience in Vietnam, but also the country’s. **
Review:   Let me first say that I did enjoy this book - to a degree. That's why it gets 4 stars. But it's important to know that this is not a great book, which with the authors experiences, it really could have been. One of the biggest deficiencies is that he spends more time telling than showing. Good books of this genre give you a first hand view of what happened and what someone experienced. This book is very light on that, especially during his 1965 tour. It gets better with his Korean and Advisor experiences later on, but only just. Instead you get a lot of history of Vietnam, a lot of history of what happened, who went where, what they did. It's all very strategic and 1000 foot level when what this book is supposed to be is very in the weeds at the 1 foot personal experience level. This is a man who participated in a lot of intense operations, worked with incredible people like Foley and Hackworth, and was both a part of ABU and Tiger Recon with the 101st. But you never really get a feel for what it was like to be a member of either. You never get to experience a recon mission, though he was a part of many. You just know that x unit moved to y place, and then this is what happened / this was the outcome.
You get a good overview of the battles, the war, and even a few of the people, but very little else from his time with the 101st.
His time in Korea is a bit better and gives you a good understanding of what happened and some incidents and the people. Also his time as an Advisor is also more personal as well. So maybe it's just a memory thing and things from 72 are easily recalled vs 65.
One thing you'll notice is a lot of ring knocking and naming of generals... so many generals. So just... be prepared for that.
Overall though, a decent book... he needs to work on the tell vs show more than anything. Up next, going to read Foley's Special Men. I always loved Foley's fictional writing, so I have high hopes for his book about his time with Tiger Recon and other units. I have a feeling it's going to be a good compliment to this book.

After a while of working on it, I would like to share my own tmnt universe called
Tumblr media
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles : The Hamato Destiny
Or TMNTTHD for short.
I would like to share the ages of the turtles for each of them there personallys there friends and villains. Let's go with their ages first.
Donnatello is 17 years old. The oldest of the brothers.
Raphael and Leonardo are 15 the murder twins I like to call them.
Michaelangelo 14, the youngest of the four turtles.
In my version, Donnie starts out as leader because of him being the oldest he views it as his responsibility to protect his siblings at all cost. Even if it means sacrificing his own well-being. He is still the tech guy in this version, and he likes his siblings to utilize his tech a lot in missions, and he gets very upset if they don't use them like he intended. He also has a werid obsession with dragons (I wonder why). He's also a great cook.
Raphael is the silent type who likes to smash heads on and break bones, but he also likes the feeling of water on his skin, and most of the time, his siblings will gind him just Submerged in water. He also likes stuffed animals, and his room is full of it, and his twin brother likes to make fun of him for it. And yes, this guy does have a bit of anger issues, but it's most of the time controlled and only let loose in very stressful situations. He also likes to exercise a lot, especially in his free time.
Leonardo likes to play pranks and make puns most of the time. But he is also a big animal lover and likes to spend most of his time at the zoo when it's closed and no one's around. He is also like his twin likes to smash heads in and break bones he's just less violent about it as Raph. He also can camouflage with his surroundings, which (most of the time) helps him pull off most of his pranks. He also looks up to his big brother Donnie (tho he'll never admit it out loud).
Michaelangelo, the little sister of the group she is the youngest and uses that power to the fullest. Like having Donnie not put her on top of the fridge. (She doesn't like the fridge punishment). She is also a great singer and cook (she asked Donnie one day to teach her how to cook and he agreed). She is also a little artist and likes to paint and draw all over the lair. She is also very close with april sense thereb oth the only females of the group. She also sometimes helps Leo out on his pranks.
Speaking of April, she's the first human who they make friends with. April and the Turtles met when they we're all kids and theu all been inseparable sense then. She is very close with both Mikey and Donnie, thanks to Mikey being the only other female of the group and Donnie and her being the oldest of the group.
I would like to mention splinter, but I don't have a lot to say about him right now other than he starts out as an emotionally absent father and didn't teach them anything about Ninjasue (at least at first). But he does get better over time.
Now on to the villains. I can't really say much about them yet sense it would be spoiling a lot of the plot, but I will name each big bad
1 Rat King
2 Drako
3 Baxter stockman/Superfly
4 Jigoku
5 Kurōn
6 Karai and Bonesteel
7 The Krang
8 Savanti Romero
That's all for now. I'll probably explain more of this au in another post. But here are some sneak peaks of their designs for now!

SHINOBI????
along with the last post: SHINOBI!!
so, in 1 episode of Next Mutation, the turtles save a 'baby hawks bill sea turtle' (read as 'red-eared slider', cus that 100% was not a sea turtle) and I thought it'd be fun to throw it into my TMNT AU as Venus adopted 'daughter' (bonesteel however is still 'related')
yes her name is a reference
