heeeey! yeah ofc (': i haven't ever really written much for randy and bob, so i hope i do them justice. i also decided to add cherry and marcia too! sorry that it took me ages to get around to writing and posting this, it was a bit tough for me to figure out but i tried my best. - mae

The Soc's Ideal Types (Personality Wise) Preferences:

Bob Sheldon:

° I think Bob would work well with someone who is more assertive and strong willed – who knows what they want and aren’t afraid of voicing their opinions. We learn in The Outsiders from Randy that Bob just wanted somebody to tell him, “no”. Especially his parents.

° Someone who’s unafraid of pointing out when he’s not being his best self and standing up to him. He may feel uncomfortable, but I think it would help him realise that he can’t get away with everything – and I believe that’s what Bob wanted.

° We also know that he was a leader and people took a shining to him. There was a sweeter side to him when he wasn’t all boozed up. So I believe he would fit with someone who is patient but also nurturing in their assertiveness. He needs someone that can cut through that thick outer shell and tough guy persona – a person that makes him feel safe.

° He also seemed to have a really big circle of friends, so it’s clear that Bob is very social. I think that he’d need someone to be able to keep up with him – someone that he can have fun with at beer blasts, rodeos, parties and the like! He wants to show off his special someone on his arm, but he also likes to press some buttons.

Marcia:

° Not much is really known about Marcia, but I definitely think she would work well with somebody who can match her scatterbrained sense of humour and ability to bounce back from stressful situations. She seems to be very present, albeit her awareness isn’t as in tune as her friend Marcia. She seems to enjoy banter and mingling with others as a social butterfly.

° She’s also someone that probably says what she thinks, as noted when she spoke about Dally like he wasn’t there and honestly answered both Johnny’s and Pony’s ages. So I think she’d need to be with someone who has a thicker skin and is able to take on her lack of filter at times. But that isn’t to say she’ll always say something without tact that will hurt you – a lot of the time she’ll shower you with truths of how wonderful you are. So compliments need to be accepted, because Marcia means them.

° Marcia loves to be spoiled by her special person. Not because she’s selfish, but maybe because she just enjoys it. Some may think this is being spoiled, but she knows her worth – and if someone offers her something then she won’t say no to it. I think as well that Marcia is also good at spoiling, so would love someone who genuinely doesn’t feel thrown off by the kindness she showers them in. She tends to go overboard.

° Having someone with a positive mindset helps put Marcia at ease – especially if they’re able to keep up with her sunny personality. I also think she likes to feel wanted, so likes to spend quality time with her partner.

Randy Anderson:

° Randy seems to be quite aware of his surroundings and understands the bigger things in life. He seems to feel lost in the crowd where he goes out of his way to fit in. He’s also more emotionally aware and mentally aware than he lets on, as he shows when he realises there’s no reason for Soc’s and Greasers to fight in the rumble, because it won’t make a difference. I think he needs someone a little bit more sensitive to bring out those parts of him.

° He also seems to be very protective and easily roused to jealousy as seen with Marcia having Two-bit’s jacket on her shoulders. I think he would pair well with somebody that is more calm and faithful – someone that he can trust and be reassured by when he does get overcome with jealousy and protectiveness.

° He’s also very loyal, so I think someone who’s just as loyal is important to him. To know that you’ve got someone who’s got your back no matter what is someone everyone needs, but especially Randy.

° Much like Bob, Randy is someone who’s adventurous and would much prefer to have someone that can keep up with him. He can get a little wild and is pretty spontaneous.

Sherri (Cherry) Valance:

° Cherry is a girl who knows what she does and doesn’t want, and she’s undeterred by much to acquire it. So I think she’d pair well with someone who’s equally as driven to accomplish their goals and dreams, but also knows when to dial it back and relax.

° She shows and proves that she’s always willing to speak the truth and is quite courageous when she is faced with adversities. Cherry will always do what’s right even if it’s painful for her, which she demonstrates a lot during The Outsiders. I think even if she was with someone who wasn’t as confident as her, as long as they’re doing their best to be a good person and do what’s right then she feels like she’s with the right person.

° Cherry also has a habit of feeling less or hiding how she truly feels, or even bored because of her friendships seeming superficial at times. I think someone that can shake her up a little and help her dream/have fun is someone she needs. She’s attracted to big personalities or people who are memorable in some way – someone that makes her feel alive.

° Someone who listens and respects her boundaries. Cherry seems to always be justifying herself to the people around her, especially when drinking and rough endeavours come into the mix. She likes what she likes, even if it does sound expensive, and honestly it probably feels very exhausting for her to always justify. I think having someone who respects her boundaries would help her feel less defensive and she’d be willing to compromise/also respect your boundaries.

- Cis and gay lol

- His type is uhh. Mean ppl. He hates to admit it though and makes excuses for his partner/crush

- Bisexual but leans towards girl, cis

- Canon that he likes blondes, so I bet he’s made out with dally at a party at least once.

- Marcia is an obvious exception to this and he doesn’t understand it. He jokes about her dying her hair blonde but he really does like her as is

- Lots of experience I’m sure. He’s funny and charming, I’d be surprised if he didn’t

Dally

- Bisexual but leans toward guys, cis

- Likes people that kick his ass (tim, Sylvia) honestly his type is just people that see him for who he is

- Tim and Sylvia are his toxic exes that he keeps going back to. He hates it but they really are some of the only people that he feels understand him

- He’s Dallas, im pretty sure Ponyboy mentioned him having tons of flings so he’s got experience.

Steve

- Gay, and I read a really good fic where he was ftm and it rearranged my brain so he’s trans now

- His type is pretty boys (soda) he’s mostly only ever had a crush on soda so it’s not like he’s explored his type lol

- He dated evie because she was friends with Sandy and he wanted to double date with soda and Sandy so he could watch them the entire time (jealous mf)

- Zero experience, he refused to even kiss evie and he never had the guts to even look at other guys

Johnny

- Hm. Gay and cis, but he seriously questioned his gender for a bit because he didn’t have much of a self concept and he couldn’t imagine himself at all. He decided to stop thinking about it because it stressed him out

- His type is people that he thinks are better than him (Dallas, for being tuffer, pony, for being smarter) he thinks that being around cool people will make him feel better about himself

- It doesn’t work, but he still likes to do it. Anyway, pony and dally still make him feel better in other ways because they think he’s so cool

- No experience, nobody ever flirts with him (or even notices him) except for Sylvia that one time. He thinks he’s ugly but honestly he just needs to put himself out there

Tim

- Gay and ftm (projecting lolll) very few people know because he was really young when he transed. Like when he was like 4 and his parents were like “hm okay whatever we don’t care anyway.” Also itty bitty titty committee so he doesn’t even have to bind (jealous)

- His type is literally just tough guys. That’s why he dated dallas and why he likes darry. They’re both tough and good at fighting.

- also dated Sylvia but only to make dally mad (and he regretted it because he realized immediately afterwards that he was definitely gay. Sylvia thought it was funny)

- Lots of experience but only with select people (people he can trust)

Angela

- Bisexual but doesn’t realize it lol, cis

- She likes traditionally masculine guys and traditionally feminine girls. Idk why but she likes it. Tbf it’s the sixties she wouldn’t be exposed to many fem guys and masc girls. Maybe she had a crush on Sylvia

- Dated bryon and actually really liked him for a bit. She broke up with him for pb but regretted it lmao.

- Bryon was her first bf so no real experience. Also tim chases any possible beaus away so she’s real unlucky

Curly

- Gay and cis, but too stupid to realize that he’s gay

- His type is any man ever. (Saw tuffponyboy’s post about how curly likes dally, bryon, and Sodapop and I committed it to my belief system)

- But he also likes pony. Maybe he even realizes and is like “omg I’m a homosexual 😧” and he doesn’t realize that everyone around him is also gay and wouldn’t judge him.

- Zero experience, gets no bitches, loser. Also he’s fifteen and he cares more about fighting than smooching

Mark

- Aromantic, asexual and ftm. Idk I feel like it fits him.

- Honestly he cares more about his friends and family than anything else. He literally sold drugs ti support his family (look where that got him)

- Has dated girls before but he hated it so much. Even tried kissing a guy at a party but decided that everyone else was crazy for enjoying this stuff

- A little bit of experience from before he decided that it all just wasn’t for him

Bryon

- Bisexual and cis

- His type is shorter than him (he likes to be tall and feel strong)

- He dated angela and Cathy, but he kissed curly at a party once (claimed it was because he was drunk and curly looks like angela but it’s not true he just thought curly was a cutie (even he’s super annoying))

- He mentioned being a ladies man so yeah he’s got experience.

Cathy

- Straight and cis, but a mega ally !!

- Her type is thoughtful and also big muscles

- She really thought bryon was perfect until he had his, err, mental breakdown and flipped out. It really hurt and she was so worried about him but he shut her out for months so she ended up moving on.

- Pretty sure bryon was her first bf? But she got with pb so she’s got a little bit of experience now

M&M

- I think gay and nb, and he doesn’t care about pronouns at all. He’s nonchalant like that

- Had a crush on mark lol. And Randy. He doesn’t date anyone because the only person he’s come out to is Cathy

- He thinks curly jumps him because he’s gay. Doesn’t realize its because he’s a hippie (curly is stupid but not homophobic)

- No experience, he’s like 13 and has never ever dated. Maybe he’s danced with someone at a school dance but he has no charm

Cherry

- Cishet ally

- Her type is canonly jerks. Very funny miss cherry.

- She dated bob, liked dally, in the series she liked Tim too. Why is she like this 💔

- A bit of experience, she dated bob after all.

Bob

- Bisexual in a homophobic way, cis

- Type is attractive rich people. He would never be attracted to a greaser, he’d rather jump off a cliff

- Dated cherry, likes Randy. He wants a very traditional future with a spouse and two children and he doesn’t think he can get that with a poor person for whatever reason. He also wants to be the “man” in the relationship.

- Lots of experience because he’s a whore I think. Flirts with most any rich person.

Marcia

- Cishet, doesn’t know that gay people are actually real. (When cherry told her she thought it was a joke)

- Type is funny lol. That’s why she likes twobit. I guess that means Randy is somewhat funny

- She actually isn’t that funny herself, she just likes to laugh.

Where should I start... Oh! I'm Robert — Bob — Sheldon. I'm pretty well known 'round here. I'm most likely the richest soc in Tulsa. Although, sometimes I wish I didn't have all the money I did. Maybe then someone would say no to me, the way store clerks say no to greasers. That's, honestly, all I want. The only person who's told me no is my girlfriend, Sherri Valance. We call her Cherry though,  because of her red hair.

Cherry doesn't like it when I drink, but I drink to feel something. My folks aren't around much but when they are, they spoil me rotten.

Earlier this year, a few friends and I jumped a greaser. I've seen him around, he now has a scar on his cheek. Most like from the rings on my hand. Combine that with the strike of my fist and I coulda probably killed the kid. I regret jumping him, though. Cherry gave me an earful the next day. After she was done, I got up and left. I was hungover and hated getting lectured. Looking back, I deserved it.

I went to the Twin Admiral Drive-In with my buddy Randy and our girls. We decided to bring some booze, I can't remember why. Cherry and Marcia, Randy's girlfriend, freaked out on us. Cherry did tell me once that she wasn't ever going out with me if I was drinking, and of course,  I didn't listen. I never do. I found her walking with three greasers. It pissed me off at the time. We got out and forced Cherry and Marcia to go with us. One greaser, with rust-colored sideburns, was ready to fight us. He gave a kid a busted soda bottle and flicked out his blade. Randy said there were more of us in the back seat, he was only bluffin'. Cherry hollered at us, saying fighting was useless.

Me and Randy dropped our girls off and picked up some friends. We were going to find the greasers that picked up our girls. At the time, I wanted revenge. They were ours. Not theirs. We found them walking to the park. And! There was a fountain. I'd drown the kid that was with Cherry and Randy would get the kid with Marcia.

Once we got out of the car, we cornered the kids.

"Well well well, look what we have here." I spoke with a grin. My flask, filled with alcohol, was near my mouth.

"A couple of greasers, Sheldon." One of my pals chuckled.

"Y'know what greasers are? White trash with long, greasy hair." I said in an overly cocky voice. Randy snickered.

The kid that was talking with Cherry spoke up. "And you know what socs are? White trash with mustangs and madras." He spit at me.

"Get him!" I yelled.

I heard a "run!" come from him. He and the other kid took off. I had him down and in the fountain in a few minutes. Two guys were on the thin kid, Randy was helping me with the Curtis kid.

After a few seconds, the two beating up on the scrawny kid came and help. I felt something in my back. Then everything froze. I looked around. My friends were staring at me. I looked behind me to see the kid with a blade. It was covered in blood. My blood.

Why had I done what I did? Why didn't I listen to Cherry when she said she didn't like me drinking? If I had listened, would I still be in this situation? I didn't wanna die, I was too young. I was only 18. I'd be off to college next year. I had a whole life ahead of me.

How would people remember me? Would I always be the stupid, drunk soc who went around jumping greasers? What would Cherry do when she found out? I knew I was running out of time. I always wondered what my death would be like. What it’d look like.

This is how my story ends. If only I had listened to Cherry and Marcia when they said not to drink. Maybe then I’d still be alive. I regret everything.

As my time seemed to unfreeze, I felt the pain of the blade enter my body. My friends all ran off. Cowards, I thought. I felt my body hit the pavement beside the fountain. I couldn’t see. I heard the coughing of the kid I had tried drowning. Boy, did I feel sorry now.

As I felt everything slip away, the last thing I heard was; “I killed him.”

Then everything stopped.
