Thelreads, MHA 282, Replies Part 2

1) “DAMMIT GUYS, SHOCKWAVE IS REALLY AN OP SKILL, WE NEED TO NERF IT NEXT PATCH”- Tomura wanted to be nothing less than an unstoppable force of destruction. OP skills are his standard attacks now.

2) “HOLY FCUK IS THAT TODOROKI HERE TO SAVE THE FUCKING DAY”- I mean…. yes, but how saved we actually are is debatable.

(MHA ch 277) 3) ““For now” you should add midoriya, because although he’s far away, the fact that you’re facing certain death will certainly lead him here

Shoto right now is going“My midoriya senses are tingling, I bet that fucker is getting himself killed by a villain right now, and he didn’t even invited me!””- Izuku didn’t even have his phone on him for Shoto to track this time, he just followed the Tingling in the back of his skull to where the most danger was. 4) “THERE’S MY BOY, RIGHT ON TIME BEFORE AIZAWA GOT CASTED FOR A NICHOLAS CAGE MOVIE

WAY TO FUCKING CLOSE

I WAS ABOUT TO THINK THE TITLE OF THE CHAPTER SHOULD BE THE FACEFALL OF DESTRUCTION”- Too close even. Shoto may have arrived just in time to stop Aizawa’s Face/Off moment, but even that couldn’t fully thwart Tomura’s success. Our odds have not improved, even with Izuku using Black Whip as an impromptu shock absorber to try and blunt the blowback of 100% smash attacks on him, that doesn’t mean much when he can fully heal from those same blows – and they weren’t enough to actually stop him before even!

5) “THERE WE GO MIDORIYA, GIVE HIM ONE OF THE GOOD ‘OL RELIABLE”- We’re gonna need a bigger gun in the armoury than that to take on Tomura now…

6) “FUCK FUCK FUCK IS AIZAWA OUT OF THE FIGHT

OH GOD OH NO

THIS IS GONNA BE REALLY BAD”- Out of the fight and possibly de-quirked in the same vein as Overhaul. Even if we survive this, we’re gonna need a new tactic going forward.

7) “THE END IS INEVITABLE THE END COMES FOR ALL

YOU CANNOT ESCAPE THE END

THE END IS HERE”- Tomura started this fight being dead. It’s hard for the heroes to top that in terms of the damage they can put on him, especially now he’s tougher than even a High-End. 8) “AND WE CUT AWAY FROM THE FIGHT APPARENTLY

Alright, fear not guys, he’s just helping his bf, no biggie, he always does that”- “And now, back to the other impending disaster heading our way!” 9) “Oh ABSOLUTELY NOT Uraraka, you have no idea what is going on there, and trust me, it’s far safer that y'all stay the hell away from it”- While that’s true, it doesn’t mean much when the walking disaster – Both of them – is heading to their location anyway. Nowhere’s safe, and no hero alone can stop this chaos. 10) “Oh hey, isn’t that the Fires Georg anchor? Is he gonna tell something about our favorite road-smashing hero?”- Well, Machia’s certainly smashing roads…and Mountains, Cities, Heroes, innocent civilians…. 11) “Oh yeah, Machia. I suppose this is during the whole shebang that was happening a few chapters ago. Don’t worry, the kids are gonna take him down. Hopefully.”- ….Cough. The ship has sailed, the payload launched, the tsunami inbound, Pandora's Box unleashed. Only All Might or All For One at their prime could likely severely impact a serious Machia. Horikoshi didn’t show us the ‘fight’ because it was an utter foregone conclusion. 12)“Yeah uraraka, but a lot of them are already at the site confronting him. They just need to hold him back until the poison takes effect.”- ….Nope. They tried, they failed, and now, there’s no heroes in the cities who can be on site to save these people. There’s gonna be a lot of death occurring, and nobody can protect anybody from it.

(MHA ch 267) 13) “Now for the truly concerning elephant in the room. Gigantomachia is gonna fuck things up for everyone, won`t he?”- Yes indeed. Despite everything they’ve put into preparation, Machia’s sheer might and single-mindedness, alongside the fact that the only person with the potential to maybe one day stop him – Izuku – is at the other end of his goal, means there’s really nothing that can be done to avert his rampage. The only thing the heroes can do is try and save what lives they can from the devastation, because stopping Machia is like standing in front of a moving train and just as messy. (MHA ch 267) 14) “Uhhhhh… I don`t like where this is going… They wouldn`t remind us that he`s here and can rampage at any moment if he wasn`t, you know, about to get started.

Now I`m scared for those kids upstairs.”- It’s not just them in the firing line, but all those people in-between the villa and the hospital who are endangered by Machia. You don’t fight an act of god, you pray it doesn’t hurt you as it passes by. (MHA ch 276) 15) “oh a small battle map, I see…. Now tell me, which direction is Gigantomachia coming from? Something tells me it`s exactly the direction the evacuation is going, right?”-Them…and all the other cities that weren’t evacuated too. (MHA ch 288) 16)“Yeah see, even Midnight told you that

this is now an emergency operation, if Machia gets there, everything everywhere is boned forever, and since your trees apparently can’t stop him, it rests on Midnight’s shoulders to save the day.”- There’s also the logistical issue that there are other cities between the lodge and Jaku…and Machia isn’t the kind of guy who’ll take a detour to go around stuff when he can go through it. (MHA ch 279)

17) “You guys shouldn’t have built your houses out of straw”- He Huffed, he Puffed, and now, Machia’s gonna blow all the houses down….

(MHA ch 263) 18) “Alright, Captain Furry gave the all clear, the battle is about to take place. Meanwhile, Jiro hears the sounds of death and the drums of war echoing through the earth itself.

The end is upon us, most of those kids won`t see the setting of the sun on the horizon.”- At least some of these kids we’ve seen likely didn’t. Hard to tell how many have passed on until somebody can take a proper count in the aftermath, and the situation doesn’t seem to be settling down anytime soon… (MHA ch 273) 19) “Yeah it was.

Thank god, now at least I know Fatgum won`t be anywhere near that place when shit gets fucked

At least one person might survive this.”- I wouldn’t put good odds on that anymore…. 20) “WAITWAIT NO W

NONONONONONONO”- I don’t know if this was intentional, but the contrast between the peaceful ordinariness of the city streets on the left vs the chaotic disaster approaching from the right gave me the impression of that split second when an atom bomb detonates, that photoshop moment where the world freezes before the destruction comes in like a wave and tears it all apart 21) “OH GOD NO

SO THE KIDS AND THE HEROES FAILED TO STOP HIM UNTIL HE FELL ASLEEP. HE’S STILL ON THE MOVE

BnHA Episode 122, a.k.a. NOBUHIKO YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN

THEY CAN'T KEEP LETTING HIM GET AWAY WITH IT!

oh my god.

so first off, let's just get the one big major criticism out of the way: this episode was definitely not up to the same high quality standards as the first third of this season. and hey, I get it! you're doing 24 episodes in all, you're on a time crunch, and you've only got so many animators to go around. and the quality of some of these earlier season 6 eps (118 and 119 especially) was seriously some of the best this series has ever had. by contrast, chapters 284 and 285, while still easily ranking among my favorite chapters of all time, definitely do not go as hard with the visuals as some of the other War arc chapters (that very last 285 page being the one standout exception).

anyway so yeah, it was still a slight disappointment, but I'm fine with it. it does mean Deku vs Kacchan 2 will still retain its crown as my all time fave, but the real meat of this episode was never going to be about the flashy visuals -- it's all about that sweet, sweet character development.

two more very minor criticisms before I get to the OMG nonstop gushing part of this post! one, they did cut out this scene from ch 282 where Tomura originally had TWO quirk-be-gone bullets in his possession and Kacchan actually destroyed the second one.

YOU THOUGHT WE WOULDN'T REMEMBER, BONES. BUT WE DID. so for everyone who is giving Kacchan his well-earned love, praise, and admiration today, don't forget to also give him props for saving Aizawa's other leg, or whichever other appendage this doubtless would have hit. my boy out here lowkey saving his sensei from being ReDestro'd.

and then one final nitpicky little quibble, which is that the anime subtitlers declined to use the "Catch-A-Kacchan" translation, despite it being the single cleverest translation of all time, and by far Caleb Cook's biggest and most important contribution to the BnHA canon. alas, twas not meant to be. BUT ANYWAY NOW ON TO THE GUSHING.

okay so first off, we all know that Aizawa is an absolute badass and the most metal motherfucker in this entire series, and that Shouto has by this point all but perfected the art of swooping in to save the day at pivotal moments, and that the U.A. kids all need ALL OF THE THERAPY GODDAMMIT, and that Deku is a COMPLETE LUNATIC who thinks that HAVING FUNCTIONAL ARMS IS OVERRATED ANYWAYS. yes and yes and yes and yes. and if you wish, you can read all about my thoughts on these things and more, here and here and here and here.

but you already know what I actually came here to talk about today.

first of all, YOU GUYS. the music. THIS FUCKING MUSIC, THOUGH. they used the exact same OST track that was used for the "why was I the one who ended All Might?" speech all the way back in DvK2. THIS IS OFFICIALLY THE "TIME FOR NOBUHIKO TO FLEX HIS VOICE ACTING CHOPS" MUSIC. A TRADITION HAS BEEN BORN.

anyway so if anyone needs me I'll just be sitting here playing this scene on repeat until the end of time. no big deal though. I can quit at any time. not like I'm obsessed with it or anything. I definitely love this scene and this character a perfectly normal amount.

All Might talking about how Katsuki understood from the get-go about how OFA was a secret that could put other people at great risk really hits hard in hindsight. especially when you realize that Katsuki really did know right from the start, and he willingly accepted that risk with no hesitation, and he absolutely did suffer consequences for it (it was his knowledge of OFA that led to him following Deku and subsequently getting involved in this battle). and I don't doubt that he has absolutely zero regrets.

okay but can we seriously just talk for a sec about the way Kacchan's anxiety is practically boiling over when he starts to ask All Might about the Fourth's cause of death?? I feel like this is one thing that kind of got overlooked at the time in the manga because we were so completely distracted by EVERY SINGLE OTHER DAMN THING IN THAT CHAPTER lol. but hearing it again here, you feel how worried he actually is about Deku, and idk why but it all of a sudden just hit me so damn hard.

"I'm worried about him. you are, too." because that truly is what this whole conversation is really about. or at least that's the driving force behind it. behind this whole episode, in fact. it's simple, when you get right down to it: Kacchan is afraid that Deku is going to die. it's literally been the biggest fear on his mind ever since Deku unlocked SIXQUIRKS. right from the start, his mind was immediately going to the worst case scenarios. he immediately deduced that OFA might have a deeper connection to AFO than any of them realized (shoutout to Kacchan for being the original "Deku is a horcrux" truther lol. ONE DAY HORIKOSHI WILL FINALLY REVEAL THE TRUTH AND PROVE US RIGHT). he instantly zeroed in on the sobering fact that all of the previous OFA users died young. and as he reveals here, he took particular notice of the fact that All Might seems to be hiding something about OFA IV's death, and he is goddamn PRESSED about it.

and I absolutely LOVE the way that Nobu voiced this part of the conversation. when he starts to question All Might, his breathing starts to pick up a little, and his voice starts to get louder, and the words start to spill out faster and faster almost like he's in a rush to get it all out, and his voice starts to crack just a little, and he goes from not looking at All Might to hesitantly, almost fearfully glancing at him from the side, and then finally turning to face him head on with his eyes all wary and his teeth gritted like he's bracing himself for the very worst (because he is).

and then he finally just asks him, "was it because you realized something?" and then he takes in this achingly hesitant little breath before finishing with, "...about One for All?" and just. the whole scene is just SO well done. like, he's seriously so fucking scared about this, though. but at the same time he just needs to know, and just. oh my god. and Nobuhiko manages to emote all of this so clearly, and that is such a difficult line to walk when you're dealing with a character like Katsuki who's always so hesitant to show his vulnerability. he has to portray these two separate layers of Bakugou at the same time -- the part of him that is trying his hardest to be nonchalant and matter-of-fact in order to hide his fears and emotions; while at the same time also portraying said emotions which are clearly seeping through anyway, regardless of his efforts.

anyway so yeah. I could talk about this for eighty years and never get sick of it honestly but let's move on.

let me tell you guys, I've been bracing myself for this scene for two full years, and it still kicked my ass. THIS SCENE HAD NO REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE. literally RIGHT IN the feels. direct hit.

"he's always been that way." no, but guys. the regret when he says that. the way he states it with such simplicity and clarity. almost profound. this is just a truth of the world. this is just how Deku is. this is something that took him so long to understand, but now that he does, he can't fathom how he was never able to see it before. and then that ever-so-slight bitterness that creeps into his voice as he goes on to describe how he fucked it all up. ;_;

and then last but not least!!

"ijimeta." one word, in Japanese. it all comes down to that. and his voice gets so quiet. this whole last part of his speech is so quiet and so soft. but when he says this very last part, his voice wavers perfectly on that last word, and it just. sounds so resigned, somehow, but also just... almost faltering, for just a moment. you can hear the regret as clear as day, but you also hear the fear once again as he finally reveals this fact -- literally his biggest shame; the worst thing that he's ever done -- to All Might. his hero. just, damn.

anyway. so needless to say, despite my expectations being SKY HIGH, this scene absolutely met all of them and blew me away. as expected from the best fucking voice actor in Japan, according to me, a single lone person, whose subjective opinion is absolutely definitely not biased in any possible way.

back to the action! and Nobu getting to do his very best Deku impression lol.

can you believe this kid. one single nerdy analysis speech was all it took for him to start emitting such powerful Main Character Energy that even Endeavor got taken in and was just automatically following orders lol.

awesome choice of music here while Deku and Tomura continued to battle and Bakugou laid out his plan. you know it's good when they still manage to make you feel the tension even though this is basically just a generic action scene, and you additionally already know exactly what's going to happen.

I have no idea why, but that part with Deku's "Kacchan... my 'Deku' means 'you can do it!'" speech juxtaposed against the image of him going all out against Tomura with such fierce determination hit me like 100x harder than it did in the manga. I was NOT expecting that to be as powerful as it was. damn near gave me chills.

literally the only time I've ever been on board with the whole "FUCK YEAH, I'LL JUST BREAK ALL MY BONES AT YOU!!" deal lol. it literally makes no goddamn sense but this scene is just so raw.

THEN WE YEET THE ENDEAVOR!!!!

SO ON-BRAND. NO DEKU-INSPIRED PLAN IS EVER TRULY COMPLETE WITHOUT A GOOD YEETING.

and then the next few moments are some of the most legitimately unsettling of the entire series, as we have Tomura screaming at the top of his lungs while being burnt to cinders (and I mean, I love Tomura dearly, but I get it; he literally just Thanos'd tens of thousands of innocent people), followed by AFO's creepy fucking ghost hand reaching out all "LEND ME YOUR BODY~~~" which is a scene that absolutely NO ONE ASKED FOR but okay.

but then right afterwards though! when AFO finally did take over, and you hear that "TV shutting down" sound effect all of a sudden? and then the next few scenes with all the BKDK flashbacks are also weirdly TV-themed? I could not for the life of me figure this out at first, but now I'm actually thinking it could be a reference to the chapter 306 color page?

OR MAYBE NOT? I actually have no idea. anyway though it may have been random af but it worked for me, what can I say.

AND THEN THE MOMENT OF TRUTH AT LONG LAST.

THIS ACTUALLY IS SO PRETTY THOUGH?? LIKE I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT COLOR COMBINATION AT ALL?

AND IT HAPPENS SO QUICKLY!!!!??? YOU BARELY EVEN HAVE TIME TO BLINK?!?!!

oh. my. god.

THE WAY THE MUSIC SUDDENLY GOT QUIET. THE WAY HIS NARRATING VOICE CAME ON AND, PRAISE EVERYTHING, IT REALLY WAS DEEPER. THAT REALLY WAS THE ADULT HIM. SAME AS DEKU. MY FEELINGS ABOUT THIS ARE SO FUCKING MUCH RIGHT NOW.

AND THEN THE FLASHBACKS!! THE SCENES OF THEM IN MIDDLE SCHOOL!! AND GROUND ZERO!! AND THEN CUTTING TO THE TWO OF THEM AS LITTLE BABIES, AND THE TV SCREEN ALL OF A SUDDEN SWITCHING TO COLOR??? AND THE HANDS??? THE REACHING?!?!

AND THEN?!?!?!

"HEY MAKESTE, IF WE GO AHEAD AND ACTUALLY MAKE THE VOLUME 29 COVER CANON, WILL YOU FINALLY FORGIVE US FOR ALL OF THE HALF-BAKED PAINFULLY OOC FILLER EPISODES AND OVAS?" WELL, STUDIO BONES, YOU DRIVE A HARD BARGAIN, BUT HOW CAN I POSSIBLY REFUSE.

AND THEN THEY FULL ON MURDERED ME!!!!!

that's right bitches. DREAD IT. RUN FROM IT. THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ARRIVES ALL THE SAME.

holy shit. and then THE END CREDITS oh my freaking heart. words can't even describe.

Studio Bones out here not resting until they've succeeded in making EVERY SINGLE PERSON feel the MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF SADNESS THAT A HUMAN BEING CAN SUSTAIN. their callousness truly knows no bounds.

anyway so there we have it! part one of the spectacular season 6 Bakugou Katsuki Redemption Saga. I laughed, I cried, I cried, I cried, I cried a little bit more, and then I cried a little bit more after that. final verdict: yeah, it was pretty good.

⇢ spoilers for bnha chapter 282

Trauma, you think, is not only applicable to injury or assault. To survival or war. The disembodiment that follows a sudden change, the lack of control that comes with loss in your life of which you hadn’t expected, is a trauma in and of itself.

You are forced to confront your own helplessness.

The first step is to accept that there is now a before and after, a fork in the road that you will never again retrace. Seated on the bedroom floor with your spine pressed uncomfortably against the bed frame, you aren’t sure if it’s possible.

Something inside you fractures at the sound of Eri’s muffled sobs. She is curled into herself beneath the comforter like a pill bug, the small bump trembling where she remains hidden from you. To a heart as bruised as her own, it is not safe to cry here without Shouta.

Medical jargon filters through your memory. Definite loss of his right eye due to contact with Shigaraki’s quirk and self amputation below the right knee. High risk of infection. Currently being kept in a medically induced coma. You aren’t allowed to see him yet.

Neither of you are.

Even though you aren’t her legal guardian, you are her guardian’s partner. With most of the remaining heroes either recovering in the ICU or out in the field, the already short list of candidates to take care of her was much shorter.

But a young child with her history only saw people with many faces, and feared the ways their intentions could change. She did not know know who you were without her foster father present. Instinct guided her under the blankets again and again, away from any possible harm— away from you.

There’s guilt leaden in your stomach that you wish would dissolve. It was unjustifiably cruel that Eri’s stability be ripped from beneath her feet so soon, and in part you feel like a liar for making promises you could not keep. Pointless as it is, you wonder if you could’ve done more to prevent this. You should have been there with him. But if you’d have been there, you might not be here.

“Eri,” her breathing hitches, wet and meek as she expects punishment, still trying so hard to be quiet. “Could you come out from there, sweetheart? It’s important that you eat to stay healthy and strong”.

How is Eri? the others would ask. Your answer does not change: struggling. Struggling to eat. Struggling to sleep. Struggling to speak. The word has become so integrated into your daily vocabulary that it starts to sound foreign in your mouth. You her routine and replicate it well, yet it still isn’t right, because you’re not her father. The texture of your food is too odd, the way you braid her hair is too loose, the way you detangle her knots is too rough. You try to tuck her in, to coax her into resting with a pleasant story, but to her it’s a betrayal. Bedtime stories are his and hers and Shouta is irreplaceable.

The lump doesn’t budge. “I’d love it if you shared some of these jelly packets with me,” you try again, grimacing through the break in your voice. Plastic crinkles in your hand. It was a risky shot but you’re running out of options. “There’s lots to choose from”.

You watch the gradual shifting of her body, lured by the promise of a sweet treat. Timid, Eri meets your gaze over the edge of her blankets with red rimmed eyes. Atleast there is no fear there, only caution — maybe even a kindling of hope in them as they flicker to the colourful packets in your hand. “Is... is it really okay?” she finally asks, filling the drawn out silence, “those are Mr. Aizawa’s favourites”.

“They are. I know he would want us both to enjoy them together,” you give her your best attempt at a reassuring smile. She deliberates before shuffling to the end of her bed and lingering there for a moment, deliberating. You had not expected that she would climb down, nor that she would slowly crawl into your lap, but you welcome her weight with a swell in your chest.

You’re reminded then of a conversation between you and Shouta before he left for the raid. Before he got hurt. Be careful, love. She needs you, you’d told him. You’re practically her father. Being assigned the role of a reluctant parental figure was joked about in good faith, especially with his newest class —and taking custody of Eri without question or complaint had only fuelled it further— but in this instance you were being sincere. She would be, and is, undoubtedly distraught by his absence.

Eri receives the flavoured jelly packet with a quiet thank you, sinking into your chest as she brings it to her lips. You tuck your nose against her crown and try not to cry.

If she’s my daughter, he had replied, a soft kiss left in your hair, then she’s yours too.

Now that's out of the way... BNHA! The second to last liveblog before the dreadful month of november begins... The moment approaches to put my fingers to work, the writing shall take place. And what else needs to take place is Aizawa fucking losing his quirk apparently. Jesus fuck no. I can't wait, and so can't you, for Chapter 282: The Footfall of destruction.

Welp good fucking luck with that Midoriya, I'm not sure he can even be stopped anymore. The End is here to stay.

And look at that, someone realized what the plan is, get ready Aizawa, I want to see that agility be put to good use.

Thelreads, MHA 282, Replies Part 1

1) “And what else needs to take place is Aizawa fucking losing his quirk apparently. Jesus fuck no. I can’t wait, and so can’t you, for Chapter 282: The Footfall of destruction.”-

“Footfall”. Despite being the singular usage, it could likely refer to Aizawa’s free-flying limb, but it could just as easily apply to Tomura getting his secnd wind back along with his Quirks and rising to his feet once more, ready to mess up the heroes’ day…or, it could also refer to Gigantomachia’s Godzilla-esque thundering feet approaching the cities (Plural usage) of innocent and unaware civillains. Either way, shit’s gone beyond the point of recovery for everybody by this point, only thing left to do is start tallying up the body count and pray that the damage doesn’t get much worse…but if the villains continue to have their say, it will. 2) “And look at that, someone realized what the plan is, get ready Aizawa, I want to see that agility be put to good use.”- Unfortunately, Aizawa’s agility stat took a massive debuff, what with one of his legs being busted before he even used Erasure on Tomura. He’s been working with a major handicap this whole fight, and now he’ll be stuck with for the rest of his life…however long that is. 3) “OH SHIT A 100% POWER SMASH? WITHOUT DESTROYING HIS WHOLE ARM?

MY BOY HAS GROWN SO MUCH, SHAME IT WILL BE ALL FOR NAUGHT, THAT BULLET IS ALREADY ON IT’S WAY I BELIEVE.”- Actually, he hadn’t yet launched it, because he wasn’t certain of his aim being correct yet, so if that blow had taken effect properly, then Izuku could have very well stopped the shot from landing… but unfortunately, Tomura won’t let himself be stopped. More angst for Izuku I-should-have-done-better Midoria in the aftermath, I guess. And it bares repeating, but that was a 100% smash straight on his cranium. Izuku, that sweet cinnamon roll, was genuinely trying to kill Tomura at that point…because in his current state, nothing less will suffice. You take the kill shot and hope it sticks, because otherwise, lethal force is the bare minimum needed to make this guy flinch anymore. Overkill is now the go-to standard when it comes to fighting Tomura, no limits in place for him, and his opponents can’t play by the hero’s rules either. 4) “Yeah, no effect, right? He barely batted an eye to a fucking 100% power smash, jesus fuck”- Well, it at least slowed his shot down enough for Bakugou to catch up and fry his reserve bullet, preventing him from launching a second round straight into Aizawa’s chest, but unfortunately, Bakugou couldn’t see the actual bullet Ryukyu was referring to on the other side of her hand, so that reserve acted as a decoy. If he planned all that out, it shows how eerily calm and strategic Tomura’s mind is underneath his animistic ferocity on the field. 5) “OH JESUS FUCK WHAT IN THE WHAT OH GOD HE BIT HIM TO STOP HIM FROM MOVING WHAT THE FUCKSHIGARAKI”- He twisted his neck to catch the smash straight on his jaw and then started biting Izuku to hold the arm in place long enough to launch his round at Aizawa without him throwing his aim off. Brutal, feral and downright savage, but it highlights both his focus on winning and commitment to using everything he’s got to hurt the heroes. If they take his arms out, he’ll resort to his legs, if they take his legs out, then comes the teeth, if they take those out, then he’ll somehow will himself to keep fighting them. Obliterating Tomura down to the cellular level seems about the only safe bet left for stopping him from fighting back, and even then, they’d better make certain they got every piece… 6) “So, do I start screaming now or do I wait a bit until the reality of it all starts to sink?”- You can start screaming when you realise that Aizawa’s not the kind of guy to go down without a fight either. Tomura wants to mutilate himself to win? Well, two can play at that game… 7) “is that- IS THAT A KNIF-

OGH MY GOD AIZAWA ARE YOU

NO”- Aizawa: See, I saw this film called 128 days, and you know, it’s amazing the things you can learn on TV… 8) “OH JESUS FUCKNO TIHS IS GONNA BE HORRIFYING TO WATCH”- The amputation, or the fighting? Cause, lemmie tell ya, it don’t get any prettier from here on in…

9) “WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR FEET OH MY GOD YOUR WHOLE LEG IS FUCKED UP MY GOD WE NEED A DOCTOR HERE PLEASE”- It’s even more fucked up now, if you can believe it. I’d almost put this down as foreshadowing, given Aizawa twice got maimed in combat by a villain way out of his league that his power was nevertheless integral to combating. (MHA ch 269) 10) “Those guys still haven`t come to the conclusion of what is causing it, but soon they`ll be at that point. Still, even that sheer strength can become a problem if they are caught out of position, Aizawa is so focused that even if he got shot he wouldn`t break eye contact with you monsters.”- Sadly, there’s a difference between getting shot, and self-amputating your twisted flopping limb of a leg with a knife. That’s a level of pain that’d make anybody blink, even for a brief second. (MHA ch 272) 11) “OH THANK GOD SOMEONE SAVED HIM

WITHOUT NEEDING TO CUT HIS LEG AT LEAST”- Sadly, it only delayed the limb’s fate at best. Getting all mangled and broken like that though certainly made it easier for Aizawa to slice through in one go. (MHA ch 281) 12) “I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD IF HE HIT AIZAWA IM GOING TO FUCKING SCREAM DON’T DO THIS TO ME”- Well, bad news: he hit Aizawa. Good news, Aizawa won’t need to spend as much money on socks anymore! 13) “HORIKOSHI

STOP

FUCKING HURTING ME”- He risks it all to see his kids again, or he dies here and now. Simple choice, simple solution, difficult execution. 14) “OH I SEE

FOOTFALL

HA FUCKING HA HORIKOSHI”- We gotta get the laughs in where we can. The funny times be over, just memories of yesteryear… 15) “OH FUCK DID HE JUST BLINK”- More like ‘flinched’ and one of his eyes involuntarily closed, thus weakening the suppression of Tomura’s Quirks and giving him a boost of strength right when he needed it to make a leap of faith…straight into Aizawa’s face.

16) “SHIGARAKI CAN YOU FUCKING DROP THE TWINK ARM YOU’RE NOT A DOG I’M GOING TO SPRAY YOU WITH A WATER BOTTLE”- Oh, Shigaraki Tomura is a dog alright. A beaten, abused dog by his own family, twisted and conditioned by his new master and abandoned by society when he needed real support and loving care, and now he’s big and strong enough to unleash all that feral pain and suffering on everybody. He’s going Cujo on all our asses. 17) “HEY WAIT, HE JUST BLINK ONE OF HIS EYES, THE OTHER WAS STILL OPEN, WAS THIS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN? OR IS STILL NORMAL SHIGARAKI STRENGTH IN ACTION AGAIN?”- I think Tomura still can’t use any activation-type Quirks, but the secondary ones that enhanced his natural strength got stronger for just a second, allowing him to tear his way free of their suppression and reach Aizawa in a single leap.

18) “GODDAMMIT SO AIZAWA NEEDS BOTH EYES OPEN? OH GOD IF HE LOSES ONE OF THEM WE’RE ABSOLUTELY FUCKED”- Judging by the gouging across his face and the position of Tomura’s fingers, he could very well have lost both, or at minimum at least one from that attack. No more debuffs against The End.
