#bjd sized chair

So I made an over-sized 1/3 scale chair out of cardboard... I didn't bother taking step-by-step photos like normal since the size was a bit difficult to figure out. I had to take it apart twice because I messed up the arm rest size. (They are not even. lol) But it looks cute and it's stable so it'll hold up well.

So idk if anyone will have an interest in this but before I designed my own bjd chair I printed this one
It’s a really nice design but I made a mistake (don’t slice files at 3am) so it’s actually MSD size not SD and won’t really work for my dolls.
I feel weird selling something that’s not my design but it would be nice to get some cost back so I’d just ask $25 so I can get a new roll of filament XD

hi :3 im rly having monster/shadow/rainbow high (etc) brain lately, but im not sure how to engage it! its a big goal to collect dolls, altho not realistic for awhile yet. how do u like to enage with The Interest? (plus im not always a video person but i was thinking abt checking out customization videos; wld u have any recs?)
*leans back in my chair* Well!
The way we engage with doll collecting as a hobby--Rainbow High, Nendoroid dolls, and MSD-sized BJDs, which are the ones we collect--is Instagram. We search various hashtags to see what kinds of dolls people have, see what other hashtags they used for their posts, and then just go from there down an image-looking-at rabbit hole. It gets us to know what's out there.
I'd also recommend looking up like, collector's guide lists and whatnot, to show what dolls exist, so you can set goals for what you're interested in.
We check out this Youtube channel on occasions, mostly because it's fun and charming and well-presented. We haven't watched in awhile though.
As for customization: I have no idea. I don't have the hands for it. I'm sure tutorials exist? But we never looked into them.

@temperatelogic, about this post.
Hello! So unfortunately, the store I originally purchased all the little detailed accessories on Etsy from in that post appears to no longer be in business. However, there are other types of accessories you can find that are cute and affordable. The following markets are your friend for beast accessories:
Dollar stores (for new/affordable items like socks to make sweaters, and clips, hats, bows, etc., and they have seasonable/holiday items)
Etsy/Mercari (for handmade accessories like crocheted hats/outfits, as well as others like lawn chairs, miniature food items, scarves/shawls, etc.)
Ebay (for new/affordable items such as sunglasses, backpacks, etc.)
Below are some examples of what I have and where you could find similar items:
Miss Ashleaf's trademark pink bow is just a little hair clip I got from a dollar store. Her diva sunglasses I found on Ebay. They're American Girl Doll glasses. AGD accessories tend to almost perfectly beast sized. You may need to tweak a bit, but otherwise that's a good brand to buy.
Tumblr media
This adorable little mushroom hat which Bricken is being so kind to model for us is a hand-crocheted item I found on Mercari, meant to fit a mid-sized Squishmallow. Depending on the size of your beast, clothes and accessories for Squishmallows or for BJDs (ball-jointed dolls) are sometimes a great fit.
Tumblr media
Speaking of AGD accessories, the backpacks are amazingly cute and not very expensive. Often, sellers will sell in packs of 3-6, too, so you can get a bunch of different styles that won't break the bank. This is also true for various types of sunglasses, like Ashleaf's up there. Isn't Kizzle's ladybug backpack just adorable?
Tumblr media
And Strawberry Gem's wee strawberry bag that has been getting so many compliments lately was also a handmade crocheted find on Mercari!
Tumblr media
I hope this helps! Happy accessorizing! =)

This is just an approximation. Now this doll wouldn’t fit in those little chairs but there is a dearth of clothes for dolls this size.
I already collect BJDs but finding one that looks like Adam Devine has proved…difficult. But I’ll keep looking. I was envisioning 1/4 or 1/3 scale versions but chibis might be easier to pull off (more stylization).
Tumblr media
This is the closest I’ve found so far.

Chair MK2 is going good! So much better than my first attempt. Chair is made of foam board I got at the dollar store and fabric left over from a coat I made.. I'm 3d printing the legs with a file I got off SketchUp.. They should be done tomorrow and then I'll post some final pics.
Furniture is 1/4 size for my msd bjd.

I want to help a beginner
Hi!
My daughter is in the first phase of buying her stock to create BJd dolls.. She wants to start with a larger one as it will give her a bigger canvas to work on. I wanted to know, what would she need as tools and accessories to start this wonderful hobby?
I know she needs to purchase clothes - wigs - eyes - shoes. Could you help us with size wise for a 60cm and also, tools (makeup? - brushes? Etc)
What size eyes and wig your daughter's doll would need, depends on the doll. The company will list the measurements or wig / eye size that is recommended for said doll. This will also help with clothes.
Other things that are handy to have (eventually):
Restringing: extra elastic, spare s-hooks, string puller, head puller, hemostat.
Face-up: acrylic paint and mediums, art brushes, Mr. Superclear or other safe sealant, respirator, soft pastels, lanoline free dish soap, lanoline and acetone free nail polish remover.
Eyes: eye putty, eyelash glue, doll eyelashes.
Wigs: wig cap, wig brush.
Travel: face protector with elastic, carrier case (or wrap them in a scarf and be careful), wig net for wig storage. Usually a doll will come with pillows / carry case and a face protector. Wigs are often send in a net, so that saves some money.
Display: doll stand, chair, safe display place.
Heavy modifying: dremel, ceramic knife, sand paper in different grids, epoxy putty. Not recommended for beginners though.
Good luck to you and your daughter with finding and costumizing her first doll. Take your time. You don't need everything at once. You can also pay others to provide services your daughter isn't willing or capable to do.

Some tips that i didn't know about until now:
1. Unless you are from the us, europe, russia, china, japan etc don't even think about getting your money back after you spend it on a bjd. I can't even sell mine for 1/3 of it's original price bc international shipping is expensive. Even with legit dolls, some stay up for months just to get sold and some never get sold at all. Even with sculpts that have never been recasted
2.if you don't know what size to choose go for a msd or 1/4. They're easier to handle and play with, their outfits are cheaper than SDs, if you want to go for smaller just know that the price plateu's pretty much after 1/4 and the price of extras (i.e wigs) will be $$$ for their size.
3. don't go after another doll than the one you originally wanted. It just not the same. You can buy with layaway, buy the head you want with a cheaper body (matching will cost too but still cheaper), etc.
4. Buy a good wig and faceup and outfit/s, you'll thank me later. Don't buy other bjds until you're finished with the one you have + i honestly would rather have a single bjd with the style i wanted + some props like chairs or even a little bjd room than multiple dolls plus it's hard to appreciate 10 dolls.
5. If you want a cheaper bjd, try secondhand. If you want a recast, also secondhand. Some ppl are quitting, not everyone are spending their money on more dolls/recasts + go to FB bjd group
6. Most importantly, i'd advise to never get in the hobby in the first place. It never gets cheaper. Whether are you buying the dolls, their clothes, their wigs OR you are making them, it's expensive either way. The price is deff justifiable, but still expensive + It's time consuming. they're also worth it if you love them. These dolls are just something else/otherworld-ly. They, however, remain valueless outside the hobby and are pretty much an $$$ piece of plastic. Just like my unsold dolls. it really does feel like i've burnt money tbh. At least the expensive tech i've got still have some use to them, even if their expense isn't worth the work they do and there are other alternatives. But bjds ? They do nothing at all, you won't be playing with em most of the time, so theyre pretty much a sculpture that moves. That's why i'd stick with 1 doll
7. The un-necessary anatomical correctness is annoying. You'd need a 20$ worth of doll under wear just to cover it ._. Yikes
Last part: artists -this is impossible realisticly lol- for the love of god learn from the recasters and build a factory or something. No more preorders, no more "but the cost of having a work space, tools etc", no more "but this color isn't available". A lot of buying a recast is more than "its cheap!". And the last thing that i wanna say is: if you wanna buy a recast: you'll probably reach the stage where you know why it's better to buy a legit. So i'll spare you the pain and say buy a legit

hey, just wanna jot down something. can't believe October has run halfway already. Been weathering and, bothered by real-life things to sort of put it aside here. I planned to take a break from SW after Visions came out, did I miscalculated and somehow pulled into Thrawn-verse. I want to finish Chaos Rising and Greater Good before Lesser Evil comes out, but it's not a real deadline. I will persist to opt print over audio so I can voice Ziara on my own. I've also listened to Outbound Flight and slowly making my way through Heir to the Empire. Borrowed Survivor's Quest from the library since I heard the audiobook is abridged.
Spent sometime confined to a chair and the physical Chaos Rising last Sunday and found I really like/miss that feeling being absorbed in that world. But I can't read somewhere too quiet (i.e. too little distractions) or I fall asleep quickly. Reading on my phone en commute is very convenient and facilitates it, getting to highlight the book, but I do forget to blink. But all in all, I like that my reading is recovering.
Onto merchs. I took Captain Rex home two weeks ago but I'm the same indifference towards it. I don't know, I only ordered him as an accessory to Ahsoka and I just don't really have an idea what to do with him. I do love the character of course but spending money is not how I express it for him lol. It isn't even sitting on my shelf beause I haven't even cleared the space for them. I'm a bad collector I know haha.
And, ordered bunch of things. should've the rest of October's day so had a couple of craft projects in mind. stomping on the brakes is HARD. Well, 4 to 6 outfits. plus finally baby lekku. dyeing, painting, makeup, and film the whole thing. and a bit of baking, sculpting, props-making. Gonna try some new materials. Quite ambitious process really. I hope I can pull it off.
Fine, let's jinx it.
ordered three cheap dolls to try my first customizing. making... human characters first :) Zero confidence in actually drawing a face but I'll wing it. Then, restarting the baby ahsoka project because I found the right body now. lol had a fit thought I ordered a size too small. It was slimmer than I remembered but oh well.
Thinking of re-bodying FOD Ahsoka but not sure I can actually bear to do so. I do hold out for acquiring a mint-in-box for display in the future though. Either way, looking for a back-up body for HT Ahsoka becuase I'm preparing for - none of her costume is removable. (saw the recent Harley Quinn release, nightmare if it's a fashion doll lol). I think I will check out the FOD Endor Leia first since it has agreeable articulation and hopefully similar body build. But that's not assured since except her all the girls have molded on tops or pants thus individual sculpts. Other bodies on the market are less muscular and I'm afraid that'd make Ahsoka's head look even bigger and disproportionate. First, I need to decide between a doll body or a figure body. BJDs doesn't really apply since it's mostly quarter scale or up. It's not my cup of tea anyway. The doll bodies I'm looking at are inexpensive, but I don't mind slightly better grade plastic. The major concern is still most of them being too thin. The good thing will be a wider option of shoes for small feet. For figures, the results I'm seeing isn't very, well, kid-friendly. On the opposite side of the spectrum, stuff I see are usually too busty or anatomically accurate. Kind of want to avoid seamless joints with stories about them cracking, and that filter out some more choices. Right now, the runner-up is Obitsu 27. The price is reasonable, bonus extra hands, while on the small side. But I can't find much user information about it, and I prefer to see/touch the real thing before purchasing it. I... I don't really like soft busts, I find it a very strange idea.
I have some really vague pieces of idea about a Halloween outfit because last year's sketch ended up staying on paper. But the actual process might depend on whether I will go through with the mid-autumn season dress first. HT Ahsoka has been in the pot more than two months now and she could release any time. I'd probably break down crying then.
CWArchives is not dead I'm just lazy to restock.

Unusual 1:6 scale dolls -- make ‘em leave!
Before I trash this stuff, I thought that it was just odd enough that someone around here might be interested. Make me an offer...and be aware that you'll at the very least be covering shipping. Please get this shit out of my house!
Tumblr media
12" doll with soft fabric wired body, wired limbs, handpainted porcelain head/neck, lower arms/hands, and calves/feet. Technically too large for a 1:6 scale kid, but still fkin adorable. Comes with hardcap mohair wig that I made.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A 1:6 scale sparkly grey kid BJD: a zombie koi mermaid with tail felted into a sitting position. She is the upper half of the limited edition Leekeworld mermaid BJD from a while back. Her original tail was so stupid that I got rid of it. Current tail is lightweight, so she's top-heavy. But she's also mischievous, double-jointed, and cute as hell. Comes with shitty faceup, pupilless orange sparkly eyes, orange mohair wig, and tank top. Chair NOT included.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1:6 scale elf BJD, the second effort of former VTDL member DragonGems. Made in 2013. Everything about her is handmade: her body, her wig, her eyes, her faceup. Full of personality, but also kind of fragile, with imperfect joints and a tendency to flop. Has been wired, however. Good candidate for head to move to another body.
Tumblr media
Mezco Living Dead Doll Fashion Victim Kitty. I gave her ball-jointed wrists for better poseability and mangled one of her wrists in the process.
Tumblr media
1:6 scale meditating skeleton. Deaditating? [Credit to @natalunasans for that pun.]
Tumblr media
Early drafts of my attempt to digitally sculpt and print a 1:6 scale action figure head of Sacha Dhawan as the latest version of the Doctor Who antagonist the Master. Brown version on far left is not available, but just there for scale, as it's the same size as an average 1:6 scale male action figure head. The next one is of a rough grainier plastic, which is fine for his beard, but might need smoothing elsewhere. The clear one was an earlier version of the sculpt with more chin. The last one was...uh...too large. No, you can't have my Aves Apoxie Sculpt.
I need this shit gone. Make me an offer. Don’t think you’re lowballing me. I’m just gonna throw it away otherwise.

The first SD-sized BJD wheelchairs are finally finished and orders are OPEN!
Due to the adjustable foot rest & back handles they should fit any normally proportioned Ball Jointed Doll between 55-70 cm. The human dolls shown in the pictures are both roughly 60 cm (23.6 inch), the fox is about 53 cm (20.9), and due to her anthro proportions she appears a tad small for the chair.
Custom colours of both frame & tires are possible, as well as any special additions, decorations or adjustments, such as safety harnesses, prints, or silicone instead of latex tires- just shoot me a message!
Facebook is quickest (I'm not on tumblr under this account that much), Deviantart & e-mail ([email protected]) are also an option! As of 7 june 2019 we're still working on a proper website.
Available in:
JUNK CAST VERSION   € 270 The budget option for those with more time & skill than money. You will receive the rough casts fresh out of the mould and the un-sanded, un-drilled metal pipes along with bolts, nuts & magnets, instructions for assembly and patterns for the fabric pieces. You will have to trim, sand, paint & assemble the parts yourself, as well as find suitable fabric & foam. Tires are not included in this version. Want tires? Add €15 for standard grey, white or black ones or €25 for custom colours.
DIY VERSION   €320 For the model builders who like to do their own painting thankyouverymuch. You will receive the finished, smooth casts along with the finished metal pipes, bolts, nuts & magnets. Instructions & patterns are included, as well as fabric (black), foam & standard colour tires (grey, white or black). Want custom coloured tires? Add €15.
STANDARD VERSION   €480 The no-fuss, no-nonsense edition. All black, fully assembled. Tires are included: you can still pick white, black or grey. Want custom coloured tires? Add €15.
CUSTOM   €500 and up The sky is the limit! Fully assembled chair in whatever colour scheme you want, including the tires & fabric (provided I can find the right kind). Want that thing in steampunk style? Neon with LEDs? Transparent? Hit me up and we'll see what's possible.
Want any other combination, for instance a JUNK version but with fabric included? Or maybe patterns & buckles for a harness/seatbelt? Talk to me, I'm sure we can work something out.
COMMISSION SLOTS ARE LIMITED!
I can only make so much per year, so assuming everybody wants their thing by Christmas, I'm only opening this much for 2019:

Well that passed a whole half an hour.
This is the first thing you see when you go down the stairs.
Tumblr media
Needs work.
Anyway, I did some rearranging. Apologies in advance, because the rest of the photos are blown out. It’s dark down there and I forgot to turn on the lamp.
This one porcelain doll  (the one strapped to a chair so she doesn’t fall and break.....) being far away from all the others was bothering me.
Tumblr media
So I decided to swap those dolls with these, because Haley is more like a BJD than she isn’t, so she was also in the wrong spot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I kind of like the big dolls here instead of where they were. Now the porcelain dolls are all at least close to each other. I do not have a stand large enough for the big one.
Tumblr media
And the medium sized dolls work fine on the newer shelf, but they need different stands. Some of those are rusted and one has been crushed, so it’s a weird shape. But it’s better than nothing.
Tumblr media
Got the Jems and Darcy on stands, and found seats for the four in the upper right shelf. They need something different, though. And the cabinet that was in the Jems is on top to fill empty space. I don’t know what to do with that area, right now.
Tumblr media
ALL of the Monster High are together, now, though I really don’t like having dolls on the floor.
Tumblr media
It seems dolls on the floor is going to be a thing, now. Unless I find somewhere else for them.
Pardon the mess, I’m still working on renovating the book shelves.

Midnight Queen <3
Welcome back! A little change of plans again as you can see, I didn’t finish all the stuff to upload the She-ra Part 2 entry today so I had to switch with the entry already planned for Tuesday (luckly I have already finish that) (Also I put the English on top because almost all the italians can read English but a few can read Italian so... XD)
The set I present you today is the Midnight Queen! (That you can find in my  Etsy shop as usual)
I really like this set, I hope to do it again in other colors too, I didn’t have the goth wig and the boots when I did it unfortunately so she’s barefoot XD
Tumblr media
As almost every bjd’s dress, this one also is born after some scraps from previous projects, this time the starting point was a “almost-circle skirt” (asymettric as it’s shorter in the front) in light purple satin. (coming from I do not know what circle skirt for human XD)
This set is not born after a project but I made it as I went on, it gave life to a new pattern for the bodice and I used it a lot for other collections... You can find this pattern in my Etsy Shop as well as the whole set. I drafted the pattern directly on my 54 cm doll shown in the pictures, that’s why it suits only this doll and not the other two as they have bigger breast (but the pattern is available in any size)
First of all I made a tiny tiny rolled hem on the purple skirt making it very wavy, then I started to think how to coordinate this fabric. I decidet to match purple and black, one of my favourite combinations, so I made another circle skirt from heavy black satin (even this one is a scap from somthing else, that’s why it is shorter than the doll and has the center front seam)
I want to add some movement in the top part of the bodice that’s why I made the new pattern: starting from the sheath dress base I separated the top part of the bodice creating two “cups”. On the front I dediced to add some volume to make a gathered cup, I left the back as it was because it will be covered with hair for the most part. I still had some purple satin to do the lower part of the bodice so I made the cups in black and the bodice in purple, I am “almost” happy with the results, as i should have make the bodice shorter, I am not really satisfied with the lenght actually...
Tumblr media
The dress was completed but it still was missing something...decorations! I went through my decorations stash and find a cute trim made with pleated organdy, the color was perfect! I use it on the underbust and low-waist seams, as well as to make some cute accessories with black satin ribbon: a chocker and two cuffs!
Tumblr media
(I don’t know why I didn’t use elastic bands intead of three tiny tiny snaps buttons!)
The skirt needed some decorations too! So I came back to my stash and find a medium-high black polyester lace I bought from Aliexpress some time ago (I never use it because looks to cheap to me, but I bought 5 meters for 1€...so it was ok!) I gathered it with the gathering foot of my sewing machine (since I discovered it I can’t live without!) and sewn it on the hem of the black skirt.
Tumblr media
I really like this “improvised” project, I have to say that even without all my planning in advance it turns out very balanced and cohesive!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will leave you with some of the (disastrous) shoots I made for this set before I realize that I really needed a stand to take good pictures!
Attempt nr 1: Couch (I needed to cut away almost half of the background every time, also I didn’t like how the doll sits...so, nope!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Attempt nr. 2: Chair (Almost acceptable, best for smaller dolls/clothes or else tons of background editing again...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the end I decided to shoot helding the doll against a plain wall and I used this method for almost all the pictures. I will definitely need my boyfriend to hold the doll for me (because I cannot shot with one hand XD) so I just need to photoshop his arm out of the picture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hope you like her! See you on Tuesday with She-ra Part 2 (I still need to finish accessories!!) and then again Thursday with the entry about a new collection (well, this time is more about some “accessories”)
Chiara (StregaCorvina)
Bentornati!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Modern, metal frame chairs for MSD size (!!) and up. Choose from white, black or gold frames, and a variety of cushion colours.
This seller makes lovely BJD furniture, but not usually in a size that fits MSD! Maybe it's time to replace my two wooden chairs I bought in England, with something more contemporary~

Review: $2.75 egg chair aka Cradle chair for Keri
So I’m one of the lucky people who managed to get a Bratz hanging egg chair (photo of full set by MiggleMuggle here) thanks to a friend back when they were going for reasonable prices. It’s yellowed over the years but remains one of my favourite doll furniture items ever. No dollar store item is ever going to compare to a sturdy, beautifully designed and engineered set piece but for the sake of the review I got it out anyway to show the differences in size and ease of sitting.
Let’s go:
The dimensions of the cradle chair are marked as 30cm high and 14cm long, those are actually the dimensions of the purple stand. The chair itself offers about 16cm high, 12cm wide, 5cm deep of sitting space at the base of the basket.
It comes in three pieces in bubble wrap and bent slightly (but without any worry of snapping or anything) under the weight of Curvy MTM who is a solid chunk of plastic compared to a lighter fashionistas articulated body.
The bottom of the chair would make it ideal for Monster high except that the curvature of their body means that they fall out if they have hair. Getting bald Batsy to sit without falling involved moving her legs sideways to change her center of gravity.
Bratz legs stick out straight so they fall out.
Hobbit/HSM sized Barbie fairy Lumina fit ok if not exactly comfy looking like in the luxurious egg chair.

It just about fits articulated Barbie as you can put sit the doll at a right angle and pull the lower legs back to keep her sat on the chair but standard Barbie can’t look up and falls out.

Unfortunately I don’t have any under 11″ articulated dolls to showcase this chair, I think it would fit small articulated Liccas, Juku Couture, Pure Neemos and under 25cm Obitsu nicely. It could be fitted with a small cushion and given to a tiny BJD.

Teddy is 10cm tall. He sits very solidly.
Ok, wait, so I had an idea... can’t let this go to waste!

I cut out the top part of the egg basket with wire cutters then scraped off the plastic mess.
Now everybody fits and sits!
