I've had this Janay head for years, but her original hair and paint just weren't my aesthetic at all. I finally figured out what would be the easiest things to change to make her more my style.

Placing a picture under the cut of how she looked stock, plus a list of what I changed

Stock on the left, and the hair cut I quickly gave her (years ago) on the right. The straight brown hair and earth tone face paint made it very hard to find much of anything in my doll clothes stash that worked with her.

I sat down yesterday and used a heavy needle to pick the glitter off of her lips, which I then painted over with sheer pink paint (so the original lip liner is still visible) with contrast blue shimmer. I also painted over her irises and eyebrows.

The new hair is made of the yarns from unraveled black rib knit fabric, glued to her head and coated with semi-gloss sealant.

She is now so much easier to dress with the clothes I have!

INSULT TO INSULT!!!

I messed up a stitch on Scott's blanket (caught only the tinsel again) and was winding up the yarn again and it flew off the winder and smacked me in the mouth making me go pllffeefff.

I was so pissed off because I was mad I'd made that mistake and had to frog back so much and then I was laughing because of the yarn hitting me, and that made me mad again because I was laughing my ass off while I was mad.

Funny enough, all the spoilers and stuff I’ve seen only touch about the first half of the whole story, and that’s interesting to me because I myself lost interest about half-way through reading it.

There’s been one or two spoilers from closer to the end but it’s almost all early content.

I wanted to read/watch dungeon meshi but the sheer amount of untagged spoilers I've been hit with and still get hit with have really killed any desire to do that like... god damn I think only one person I follow has ever bothered to tag them

I loaded up insta for like two seconds at the doctor’s office and that fucked up my feed entirely.

Still thinking about photo spot set up stuff and I think the background might be looking crooked because I push the camera down a bit to push the shutter button. It's actually kind of hard to push. You'd think they'd make it really easy, especially considering there's no film to waste.

So either I need to hunt down a remote clicker for it or adjust the backdrop to be deliberately wrong in a way that pushing the shutter button makes it line up right or close to it.

Either way I think I might be ok with that new setup. The NEX isn't really much different than the iPhone in photo quality, but it is very different in how it uses light.

Not that it's really noticeable on a PC screen, let alone a phone screen.

NEX is less saturated I guess.

I've been watching these guys work on this for a while. It's a stand to hold doll heads while you make wigs for them.

It actually looks like a cheap camera tripod with some special attachments, but it also looks really handy.

I discovered a part in her hair and was able to sorta get it back into place.

But her hair is way longer on our right 😅 I'll try to cut it if I can summon some bravery. I'm not skilled at cutting any semblance of straight, myself ...

I thought maybe the scalp was rotated and the part was supposed to be in the middle? But I couldn't budge it. I don't know much about Blythes. YET.

I did learn today that Popmart did a new Blythe size recently sorta in between Middie and Petite, that has real functioning eyes and I think they're adorable. Good thing they're too tiny for me. Yes. Too small, that's the ticket.

I'm reading Dungeon Meshi and admittedly, I lost interest about halfway through.

Being someone that absolutely despises cooking, the focus being mostly on food is kind of lost on me.

Might as well finish it, though. There are only 10 chapters left.

Another cut, same photo blather. I fully gutted and changed the photo taking spot. Still need to better secure the background.

I actually took the foam board out of the back and put it on the floor so I could poster-tac the cake stand into one place, again. It was only back there because I had tried using the plastic "velvet" sheet as a background at one point and that's so transparent that I needed something behind it. It still looked bad, though, because anywhere they weren't right up against each other there was a shadow.

The size of the foam board, it sticks out the front of the softbox and that kind of helps me be sure the camera and ring light are at a specific distance every time if I have to move them.

Took these as though they were sales pics or before pics.

Purple rectangle were dupe pics. Picasa does that.

I wanted to see how this background looked with different colors and sizes of pony and how the camera handled my arm in the way to take feet pics.

Def going to have to either start wearing a glove for that or find some other way to brace up ponies to show their feet. Maybe I should just lay them down. No one needs to have to look at my sad fingers.

Paper is crooked. Or the camera is. Or the cake stand. Probably easiest to adjust the paper.

This is certainly busier than my old background.

But it also feels happier? Feels more My Little Ponier?

I might stick with this after some adjustments to the paper.

Might need to consider trying to find a remote shutter button for the NEX5.

All the lights are still on down there.... I should go turn them off. Thought I'd be hopping right back down again to keep trying stuff but this is taking more thought than expected.
