23 & Loving It!
Part 1
Adrien's hand rested on his cheek, as he watched Marinette yawn and rub her eyes. He smiled and couldn't help, but look lovingly at his wife, as she prepared their morning coffee.
"Why are you so happy in the morning?" Marinette questioned, with a yawn, "Is it because it's your birthday?"
"I was actually thinking about my eighteenth birthday." Adrien smiled, "The day I got the most amazing girlfriend, after she called me Her Dork."
Marinette blushed, "You still are My Dork, five year later."
Adrien got up from the bar stool and placed a quick peck on her lips.
"Do you remember that night?" he asked, making her giggle, "I still can't believe we had crushes on each other for so long and we were both scared about taking the next step to confessing."
"I still can't believe you called me by you last name that day." Mari smiled, cuddling into his chest.
"Had to make sure everyone knew you were off limits. Best birthday ever." Adrien stated as he pressed a kiss to her hand.
Marinette smiled, "I wouldn't be to sure about that."
"Oh?" he questioned.
Marinette handed him a gift with an envelope. He opened the card to read 'Happy 21st birthday from your loving wife'. Adrien pulled her close and kissed her.
"I love that." he smiled.
"What?" she questioned.
"That this card is signed by my wife." he answered.
Marinette rolled her eyes at him as he began to tear at the wrapping paper. Inside were two small black booties with green paw prints on the bottom. Adrien turned to her in shock.
"Happy Birthday." Marinette mumbled.
"Really?" he asked.
Marinette nodded and was quickly pulled into a searing kiss by her husband.
"You gotta stop surprising me on my birthdays like this! How am I suppose to top that? Does anyone know?" Adrien questioned.
"Nope." Mari replied, "I wanted to tell you first."
"We can tell your parents at dinner!" he announced, "Oh, I have an idea!"
He knew his friends would like to spend time with him, but that usually happened the day after. Adrien happily sat at the Dupain-Cheng dinner table, where he had spent all his birthdays, since he was eighteen. His birthdays were to be celebrated with his new family, who helped him leave behind the Agreste name: the Dupain-Cheng's. Sabine had gone out of her way to make some of his favorite dishes and Tom had made some extra chocolate croissants. After they had all eaten a slice of cake, Adrien began to open the presents. He turned to Marinette. She knew that smile. He was eager to tell them the news.
"Adrien, already opened a present from me at home." Marinette admitted.
"Oh?" Tom asked, curiously, "What was it?"
"I actually brought it with me." Adrien smiled, as he pulled out the tiny baby booties.
Sabine and Tom looked at them in shock.
"Are you sure?" Sabine questioned.
Marinette nodded her head. They were quickly engulfed by hugs and congradulations.
"Can I do it now?" he smirked.
"Sure, Kitty." Marinette smiled.
"Do what?" Tom asked.
Adrien pulled out his phone and quickly posted the prepared announcement to Instagram. There was a picture of Marinette holding the little booties by her stomach and he was kissing her. It was titled 'Best birthday present ever!' #soontobedad #birthdaydad
Around the world their friends were blowing up the comment and their phones, about the surprise announcement. Many people had switched to Marinette's side once Adrien revealed he had feelings for her. It had taken them awhile for them to earn her forgiveness and for her to call them friends. They knew they were nowhere near as close as they use to be.
Some people weren't as happy. Lila scowled at the announcement before she unfriend and blocked him. She hadn't gotten anywhere close to him since he announced he left behind the Agreste name. He no longer fit into her plans. She had kept an eye on his social media accounts, in hopes to see everything crumble, and to become that shoulder to lean on, in his time of need. When she found out he had married Marinette, she knew all he needed was time, but a baby told him there was no longer a reason to keep a watch on him.
Chloe sighed and sent congratulations message. She knew she had lost touch with him, after his eighteenth birthday. She blamed herself since they were no longer in the same circles; she hadn't even tried to reach out. So much could have been said, but ultimately, it was if their years of friendship vanished into thin air.
Gabriel stared at the photo. He could see how much his son cared for his young wife. He could see how happy he was to have a child along the way. His son, his child, was about to become a father and he wasn't around for it. Gabriel rubbed the bridge of his nose, the realization sinking in. He had lost his son five years ago over a spat. A spat about him growing up and deserving space. He wasn't sure if Adrien wanted him around him or his family. He quickly wrote down a note for Natalie to send them a congratulations basket, with a note asking to meet for dinner.
