Luo Binghe is not given much time to inspect the area before him when a flash of white lands down in the clearing. The cultivator stomps over to him.

They look remarkably similar to Liu Mingyan without her veil. This must be her brother, Liu Qingge. Her brother crosses his arms when he stomps in front of him.

“Are you moping?”

“No.” He can’t help the amused curl to his lips.

Liu Mingyan’s brother is blunt and inelegant. Despite their shared look, they are quite different from each other.

Liu Qingge snorts. “Just because your Shizun isn’t spending time with you, doesn’t mean you should just fall apart. Your Shizun would worry if he saw you like this.”

“He would?”

“Of course, he loves you.”

Liu Qingge pulls his sword out and steps on it. He turns around and offers his hand. “Well?”

Luo Binghe hesitates. Liu Qingge then grabs his wrist, drags him onto the sword behind him and takes him somewhere. He goes along with it. He doesn’t want any suspicion raised.

He wonders what the relationship between his shishu and the crybaby version of him is. Only his most favored wives can manhandle him like this and even then, he allows it rarely. Most aren’t even permitted to do so. But then again, the crybaby is a pushover.

Liu Qingge brings him to an inn and orders a room and bath.

The crybaby better not be cheating on Shizun. If it were him, Shizun would be enough.

A bath is brought up and Liu Qingge slaps a warming talisman on it. “Strip.”

He turns away. Luo Binghe furrows his brow. It is a strange concession to modesty if they are together.

He slips into the tub and sighs. The warmth seeps into his bones. His head is dunked in the water. He rose and sputters. He resists the urge towards violence. He is trying to go without notice. If he kills the War God, people would know. He settles for splashing the man.

Luo Binghe glares. “What is that for?”

“Wash your hair.” He takes a bucket and pours water over his hair. He scrubs soap into his hair. It is a bit much for a Peak Lord to do for their shizhi. It is servant’s work. A part of him whispers that it is lover’s work.

He is getting mixed messages.

“Here.” Luo Binghe is given a towel and robes. An extra set of his own robes based on the size and colors. He raises a brow at that.

“Why do you have these?”

Liu Qingge rolls his eyes. “I learned after the first hundred times from the night hunts with you and your husband to always bring an extra set.”

“It took you a hundred times?”

He gets a tug on his ear for that. “Get dressed.” He is poked in the chest. “I’ll grab food.”

Luo Binghe puts on the clothes. Knowing the situations he gets into with his wives and Liu Qingge’s familiarity with the crybaby and Shizun, he begins to think it isn’t cheating. He wonders if Liu Qingge ever gets… involved.

Smoothing out the robes to his satisfaction, the door opens. Liu Qingge drops the tray of food onto the table. They rattle a bit. Several of the dishes are ones he prefers. He and the crybaby have the same taste it appears.

Liu Qingge ushers him to a chair. “Eat.”

If it were normal circumstances, he would not follow the orders he has been giving. Nobody has commanded him since he fell into the Endless Abyss. He feels strangely open to it from his shishu. The demands seem to be his form of caring.

Liu Qingge stands behind him and begins to comb his hair. Luo Binghe carefully sits straight as he eats. He feels Liu Qingge braid his hair. The action is gentle and incongruous to the previous rough treatment.

Spending time with his shishu reminds him of his first encounter with the Shizun of this world.

It makes him uneasy.

Shen Qingqiu, wanting Luo Binghe to come comfort him after the Systems punishment. ❤️🥺

This chapter here is another development for Shen Yuan. I said in one of my previous posts, after the Abyss arc is when he finally realized this isn’t a game, and these aren’t just characters in a book anymore.

This chapter, it seems to finally click in his head that the OG Luo Binghe and the one he met in this world are 2 different people. He’s being torn apart by Bingge, and his thoughts go to his own Binghe, knowing he would never hurt him this way. And he thinks “don’t do this, not with that face”, the face he’s come to adore.

Moments like this are why I’ll never understand the people who come to the conclusion at the end that Shen Qingqiu felt forced to stay with Luo Binghe in the end.

He points out differences in Bingmei and Bingge, admits to himself that half of this was his own fault, for assuming his Binghe would be the same as Bingge. He says that he’ll give Luo Binghe the benefit of the doubt from now on, and trust him. And he does.

Why YOU should watch Legend of Lin Ye

If you're a SVSSS fan, here's a run-down:

Is Xian Zun Whitewashed Today? / Legend of Lin Ye is basically a Scum Villain's Self Saving System drama adaptation. A guy reads a webnovel, hates the ending and gets transported into the story to "fix" said ending. He becomes the story's "villain", aka an immortal master, who is also the main character's teacher. Oh, the main character is also a demon-thing. The guy gets points each time the MC falls more in love with him. LoLY (both seasons) is around 2.5 hours long in total.

Now that you've seen the summary, here are VISUALS where you can see the similarities:

and MANY more! Yes, even the System is there, and she talks a lot more! Original A-Ye and Bingge both torture and kill their original teachers. A very weird attempt harem is also there, and, just like Binghe, A-Ye doesn't want it, either. The 5 (actually 2) year gap between Binghe falling into the abyss and meeting SQQ again is actually 10 YEARS! in Legend of Lin Ye (yes, A-Ye also falls into the abyss). A-Ye doesn't give Xian Zun his blood, but he does give him a BUNNY! S.A. is not a topic in LoLY. A-Ye is just as jealous as Binghe. Xian Zun is allowed to be a lot more OOC (there's also like a points shop). Xian Zun is not scared of A-Ye (A-Ye wishes he was, bc he annoys him lol). XZ & A-Ye don't get stuffed in a coffin, but they do get stuffed in a human-sized bird cage. XZ does, at one point, have a nightmare about original Wu Ye killing him. Xian Zun is pretty good at not self-destructing. Xian Zun and SQQ both have fans, yes.

Hello! I just Like a Moth to Flame and all I can say is that I am INVESTED. I have so many questions and so excited for whatever you bring us! I have loved your writing style, it's so solid and smooth, it's like I forget I am reading words, which is the best feeling.

Not gonna lie, I want to grab Shen Yuan and wrapped him in a burrito. Literally, fate decided they wanted to have a kick at him and it breaks my heart. It specially leaves me awake at night knowing he has a good chunk of his memories missing. I know for a fact that of all the things that he has gone through, I think that would freak me out more than anything; yes, even more than the pregnancy, the pregnancy is something physical, there's a certain control, whether it's there at the end or not, but the possibility is there, while a memory is intangible, it shouldn't be touched, yet it's gone and it's never coming back. I would scream myself hoarst, thank you for givine me nightmares! but speaking about the missing memories, I was wondering, are they the reason why SY feels so different? It's clearly him, but it doesn't have that raging, spitful fire that I am certain SQQ!SY has, this SY feels very...mellow, like something was taken and it was what allowed them to process things in the first place (hence, why I question the memories)

I'm really happy that you like the story so far and hope that the next parts will also be enjoyable! (Got a really persistent case of flu, so I've had to limit my screen time somewhat unfortunately, but ch2 should be out in the next few days hopefully.)

And yep, this wasn't quite explained in detail in IWNBH and it probably won't be explained in detail in this either because it's not really an option with the setting as it is. Shen Yuan being a lot more mellow (and the other wives too) is because of Xin Mo. In this verse, while Xin Mo is not a sentient sword yet it is getting stronger by each wife it "tastes" (and another funky background detail would be that I sort of think of it as getting stronger by each new victim the various versions of "Xin Mo" find across the universes/dimensions too).

And Xin Mo usually goes for the happier memories first, to sorta break its victims a bit? You know, less likely to get away if they can't remember their happier memories, also some behavior gets amplified if they can't remember important lessons/etc.

Shen Yuan (and everyone else who have been fed on by Xin Mo including Luo Bingge and his wives) will never quite put it together that their happiest memories are missing even when they recognize that they are missing memories.

Hello, I wanted to ask you about your latest fic as it has the Bingjiu tag and I don't read that ship. How much is it focused on it? Thanks, I just want to know whether I should read or not

Hi anon! Thank you for your interest!

You might note that the tag is actually Bingmei/Shen Jiu. Bingge/Shen Jiu is not tagged at all and this is intentional. I don't personally subscribe to the belief that Bingge's feelings for Shen Jiu in PIDW were ever romantic or sexual in nature.

Binghe/SJ is tagged because the second half of the fic will focus heavily on Binghe's complicated feelings toward a Shen Jiu that he has not yet figured out is an entirely different person rather than an AU version of his husband. I believe the attention given to Binghe's feelings about Shen Jiu, confusing as they are to him, is significant enough that it might interest someone searching this ship (assuming the other tags aren't dealbreakers) and so warrants a tag. However, like Bingge/Shen Yuan, the feelings are unrequited and not endgame. This is absolutely a Bingqiu fic (as in Bingmei/SY) and I'm very clear about that from the beginning.

I've been tossing up adding the "no infidenity" tag in addition to Bingqiu Endgame, but I feel like it does a disservice to how confusing Binghe and SQQ's feelings are throughout the fic, and the fact that SQQ in particular feels like he's being unfaithful (even though he's absolutely not).

I don't think the Bingjiu elements will be an issue if that's your main concern, but as for whether you personally should read the fic, that's of course entirely up to you ❤️

feel free to let me know if you have any other questions! There are a few plot points I'd rather not give away just yet, but I know the feeling of getting 50k words deep into a longfic only to find it's going in a direction I don't like. Hello, is this a chance to talk about The Crane Wives and The Oh Hellos?

Hi, okay, yes, this is the previous anon and yes, those are The Crane Wives and The Oh Hellos. I only recently learned about them myself, like a few months ago, so my knowledge is still lacking compared to my friend's, but they are SO GOOD. so good, so good, so goooooood.

The Moon Will Sing was the one that did it for me. I heard it on a ship reel on instagram and was so entranced, that I looked it up. Before long, I was down the rabbithole. The lyrics, ah, they really subvert the whole sun and moon themes? about recognizing how toxic their love was? Ugh, yes please. I am obsessed with that song, and the rest of them??? I haven't heard them all but a good couple of ones stay on repeat on my head.

I WILL GIVE SOME RECS NOW WITH MY VISIONS:

There Beneath (The Oh Hellos): The vibes of the song make me think this is more or less Shen Yuan's state of mind. Of his journey of accepting his new reality, now or maybe later. A kind of static, peaceful moment, as they breath in.

Never Love An Anchor (The Crane Wives): Your Tianlang-Jun feels different than canon, and I'd like to think that this is how he felt about learning of Luo Binghe (even if I am delulu). Maybe this is how Su Xiyan felt when she had Luo Binghe. Heck, I feel like even Shen Yuan could theoretically fit in this category with their kid (if they weren't so darm determined in keeping the kid, which I love that for them, but still, the songs potential, it's THERE!)

Tongues & Teeth (The Cranes Wives): Bingge, just Bingge.

I was commuting today and I was listening to these songs and they were nice, I liked Tongues&Teeth a lot. And then Never Love an Anchor started and I got to the parts with the fever/shoes and that made me almost cry in the middle of a crowded bus so I had to switch to Powerwolf to stop wanting to bawl my eyes out... 😂

That was an experience, ngl. I'll probably listen to it again when I'm home alone and I have the bandwidth to deal with things a bit more. 😅
