hi i ride motorcycle year round and wanted to chime in. for vasco's small around-town trips he'd probably be fine with his ears free, but for longer trips at higher speeds or when its cold out he'd want them protected. probably by tucking them under his chin into the collar of a jacket and then putting a scarf or bandana on. also goggles would be helpful if a full helmet wasn't wanted. since they're in europe and around italy specifically he could have a nice ducati (fast rockety sport bikes) or a cafe racer (much more like a motorized bicycle but they can still have a lot of power) a cafe racer would offer a lot of seat space for machete to be thoroughly uncomfortable in lol

I've never riden a motorcycle so I wouldn't even know where to begin #the ears tucked under the jacket collar is a smart way to go about it #having hard time choosing a bike for him there's too many options #it looks like lots of ducatis have a very sleek and sporty vibe to them #loving the bright colors and the shapely design #cafe racers on the other hand come across as iconic looking to me and could potentially have a sort of vintage aura which I personally like #and the flat topline (I'm sorry I don't possess the right vocabulary for these things) that some of them have is visually pleasing #they'd be a nightmare to draw though since the frame is a lot less covered and there's a ton of complex mechanical detail in the midsection #bike viscera if you will #I don't know but it's fun to think about #thank you for chiming in! this was genuinely helpful #answered #anonymous #modern au

And she's complete! I just came back from my test ride, to the supermarket and back. She's a lot of fun and that front rack can carry a lot of stuff. The small bag is for the elastic straps. Brakes work nicely, especially after I repurposed the old derailleur hanger as dropout stop and centered the rear wheel again. The gearing is almost too low and i spin a lot over like, 15 km/h, but since it's single speed and around here is a bit hilly, i think it will be fine.

Looking forward to using it around town! New daily driver!

Also, she's going to get proper mudguards soon, and possibly wide tires, but for now it's more than usable!

Btw if you’re weird about cyclists I will block with abandon unless it’s funny enough. In places with the infrastructure to support cycling and places with decent public transport there need to be less cars on the road. I’m not even saying no cars but dramatically less. For the climate and for air quality and for safety. It’s cars that make roads dangerous for everyone not cyclists.

#people are soo weird about cyclists and as someone who cycles everywhere(and is safe about it. i make jokes that I’m not but I am) #it’s really scary to see the amount of vitriol towards cyclists #in most cities there are not enough safe cycle paths and if there’s no cycle path we have as much right to the road as you. #anyway! #some of the jokes are funny but if you’re in my activities page typing in all caps about hating and wanting to kill cyclists I will block. #like my city is supposedly really good for cyclists but the cycle paths will stop in the middle of busy roads so cars can park there #which means I then get spat out into busy traffic with people who think I’m a public nuisance. for just getting around the city. #i wear a helmet because if I do come off my bike I don’t want to fucking die and yet studies show that drivers care less about #keeping safe distances from cyclists wearing helmets because they don’t see them as human. like I’m sorry but that is deranged and dangerou #you are in a fucking death box and i am on a little frame with two wheels take the fucking responsibility that that warrants. sorry.

bruhh the world really hates me this week

#let's see what happened? what hell did I go through? #we were down 12 people this week on the team- so we had two 12-hour work days #my body hurts and my feet are blistered- and I was assigned to help my supervisor wrap up in equipment for the week #which I barely got training on #yesterday I accidentally tripped the emergency fire exit alarm in walmart cause my dumbass didn't watch where I was going #which caused me to have a meltdown which I was trying VERY hard to hold back and not sob my eyes out in front of my boss #My belt buckle broke while I was working today so I had to stop and shop for a new one #I tripped and ate shit while packing the equipment cases into my supervisor's hotel room last night #my leg gave out from under me when I tried to stand up after counting a shelf in grocery and I rolled my ankle #I got lost when my supervisor told me to take the equipment to the back room #I had to stop and ask two walmart employees where it was located- neither of them knew #I've been overstimulated since first break this morning #I got so many scratches on my arrms from counting pegs in apparel and those bitches are so sharp they'd make my therapist concerned #aaaand while wrapping up equipment there was a bike hung up on a shelf and I ran face-first into the handlebar and I bent my glasses frames #so now I gotta get those fixed #I'm quickly making my way to the top in competing for 'most directionally challenged' as my supervisor jokingly put it #I'M GONNA GO DOWN TO THE LOBBY TOMORROW MORNING AND MAKE MYSELF A WAFFLE FOR BREAKFAST #I DESERVE A TREAT
