in case some of you don’t know what’s going on in the wild west of stranger things twitter, please expect a mass migration over here after tonight because THE most mind bogglingly revolting shit is going down. it’s absolutely NOT a safe place for LGBT people and people of color right now, especially black fans.

after joe quinn made comments vaguely supporting steddie/stonathan at a german con on 11/6 lot of hell/cheer shippers on twitter have been exposed for being explicitly and gleefully homophobic and racist. my friends have been targeted specifically and publicly quoted, mocked, and harassed. and man shippers have now taken to gleefully calling steddie fans “STDs”. you know. like AIDS. which was actively wiping out members of our community in 1986 and still continues to disproportionally effect our lives here in the states, especially among mlm and people of color. several accounts have also been exposed for BLATANT antiblackness and use of slurs.

these are just a few of the lovely tweets i’ve seen on my TL in the last hour. that last tweet was targeting a 17 year old trans kid, by the way. this is the general attitude that many chrissy & hell/cheer fans have been subjecting gay fans to online in the last few days. im not gonna generalize because i know it’s not everyone, but this is the majority of what we’re seeing. it’s a hostile and unsafe environment so when people being flocking to stranger things tumblr, please be patient and welcoming because it’s quite literally a war zone over there right now.

no one deserves to be treated like this for being lgbt or for having a gay ship. it’s nowhere near deep enough for people to be acting this way.
