get the kosa tag trending
this post is about kosa
I have nothing to put here that hasn't been said by people way more competent than me
I just don't know if reblogging stuff with #kosa actually contributes to if it trends or not, so I'm making a separate post.

A new tool lets artists add invisible changes to the pixels in their art before they upload it online so that if it’s scraped into an AI training set, it can cause the resulting model to break in chaotic and unpredictable ways.
The tool, called Nightshade, is intended as a way to fight back against AI companies that use artists’ work to train their models without the creator’s permission. Using it to “poison” this training data could damage future iterations of image-generating AI models, such as DALL-E, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion, by rendering some of their outputs useless—dogs become cats, cars become cows, and so forth. MIT Technology Review got an exclusive preview of the research, which has been submitted for peer review at computer security conference Usenix.
AI companies such as OpenAI, Meta, Google, and Stability AI are facing a slew of lawsuits from artists who claim that their copyrighted material and personal information was scraped without consent or compensation. Ben Zhao, a professor at the University of Chicago, who led the team that created Nightshade, says the hope is that it will help tip the power balance back from AI companies towards artists, by creating a powerful deterrent against disrespecting artists’ copyright and intellectual property. Meta, Google, Stability AI, and OpenAI did not respond to MIT Technology Review’s request for comment on how they might respond.
Zhao’s team also developed Glaze, a tool that allows artists to “mask” their own personal style to prevent it from being scraped by AI companies. It works in a similar way to Nightshade: by changing the pixels of images in subtle ways that are invisible to the human eye but manipulate machine-learning models to interpret the image as something different from what it actually shows.

i think the reason Commander Cody’s character is often undersold is because his story isn’t ever told in any one story. his screentime in tcw is low, but meaningful, his appearances in comics are incredible, but overlooked, he isn’t touched on much in RotS, but his personality is still super obvious there, and he’s only in one episode of Bad Batch, but he quite literally changed the entire course of the season with his short amount of time. all of it is rich and shows how much he cares about the people around him and that’s what makes him such a great character. he doesn’t need hours of time to make a difference in the other characters around him, he does that naturally no matter what

yeah actually i love that ed externalized his self hatred as fucking hornigold because hornigold was probably the second biggest abusive presence in ed's life, and the fact that ed still remembers felix's name and what happened to him in horrible explicit detail shows how much of a traumatizing event it was, and, ed does not see his self hate as the kraken or blackbeard, but as hornigold. the guy who defined piracy for him. who treated him worse than a dog.
ed learned piracy from a guy who thought a great lesson on not stealing rations was making one of the youngest members of the crew die a horrific death. ed became The Blackbeard after the experience of being captained by that guy and when he is near death and wants to talk and wants to get it out and try to explain himself he imagines that guy because that guy will make him feel like shit which is what he thinks he deserves because he believes himself unlovable.
he's not unlovable, he did drown himself in pain and try to push someone to kill him (and my god the multiple fics where he tries to get jim to do it were all so right all those authors feel a very you called it in this chilis tonight!!!!!) but even then he had to pick one of the worst guys he knew to do it because even hating himself he wanted to hear it from someone else. a part of him was still pushing back, still needing it confirmed by a theoretical outsider.

The “bud” after “I love you” does NOT devalue it. And NOT just because “bud” can be interpreted romantically, but because having loving platonic relationships with friends is just as monumental.

My first ever concert was Death Cab for Cutie. I was supposed to go with a friend but she bailed. The venue was this gorgeous local park that put on concerts over the summer so it was a big outdoor area.
I thought about not going but I was like, social anxiety be damned. I will go to this concert alone! I’d already bought the tickets and it would be an adventure. In my heart I was hoping someone might ask me to join them which in hindsight was fairly ludicrous given the insular nature of both Death Cab fans and Pacific Northwesters.
So I went alone and sat alone. I still had a pretty nice time and when the concert finished I got up, folded up my blanket, and headed out. I was a little puzzled more people weren’t leaving but I figured it was just that they were having a nice time with their friends on the grass.
I had made my way out of the venue when music started back up. I froze.
Readers, I didn’t know encores existed.
I stood outside the fence, feeling ridiculous, listening to my favorite song drifting along the night air over the barricade. The tickets were only good to be scanned once. I’m certain now if I’d explained to the door people they’d have let me back in, but I was young and embarrassed.
I sat outside the fence on the warm summer evening as the light faded, wishing I weren’t alone, listening to music about being lonely.

"But you don't even act like your kintype" I don't know what you're talking about, I think I act exactly like Ben Tennyson, if he had the soul of a bison and the brain of a gnoll, had been socialized as a girl, grew up in Europe, and was a divorce child with menthol illness whose only comfort growing up was the local pony riding school and weird fantasy books. And he only remembered he was Ben Tennyson when he was 21.

the thing about Commander Cody that makes me so absolutely insane is not just how shockingly kind he is- it’s the fact that he’s so kind and tender even though he was never afforded that growing up.
like, none of the clones were, obviously, but Cody even as an Imperial does nothing but talk in gentle tones to citizens and reassured them that he’s only trying to help and does every single thing he POSSIBLY can to avoid bloodshed.
Even With Separatists.
he was never demonstrated with that level of kindness until far, far into his life, and yet it’s his core trait. he’s a good person to the bone and he did that by himself. it’s incredible. he truly does embody the Sun despite growing up on a planet that always rains.

absolutely no notes on 'neck deep'. this song is about your ex who hurt you. this song is about wanting to go back to who you were before the pain started. this song is about destroying the monarchy and the government and how there's no excuse not to fight back. this song is about aliens
