KAYN 

Ever since joining Heartsteel, Kayn's 'Rhaast' outbursts have lessened in frequency and severity. Of course, his alter-ego makes regular appearances, but being with a group that encourages and accepts him rather than holds him back and tries to get him under control has made it so that Kayn feels less need to express his feelings in such an explosive, reckless way. Of course, he'll never admit that his newfound friends are the reason for his recent (very, VERY slight) stability.

Kayn is extremely choosy with his jewelry. He fronts like he doesn't want to wear "cheap, lame shit"—but actually, he just reacts to most metals. If he doesn't check to make sure his earrings are hypoallergenic, he ends up with a massive rash. Why the excuse? He is NOT about to admit he has sensitive skin.

Probably not a surprise, but Kayn breaks his phone CONSTANTLY. With all his reckless antics, it's rare for a new phone to last him more than a few months. The silver lining is that he at least has his emergency contacts (the Heartsteel members, of course) memorized from entering them into his contacts list so often.

Kayn also has a burner phone he uses for Rhaast.

Maybe you'd expect Kayn to have an enormous rager for his birthday, but the truth is, he doesn't actually like that many people. Instead he invites a handful of his actual friends to the shared Heartsteel apartment for a joint Halloween/birthday party. Costumes mandatory, noise complaints expected. Kayn will tell you to your face if he thinks your costume is stupid.

Kayn's got a lucky guitar pick. Somehow, he’s never lost it.

Wherever Kayn goes, property damage often follows. For Heartsteel's sake, he's cleaned up his act a tiny bit, mostly because he's scared of respects Yone, who gets pissed whenever Kayn breaks too much shit. But come on, you can't deny a man all of life's simple pleasures—you gotta let him graffiti the side of a water tower every once in awhile, or blow up the occasional car.

Notorious for social media rampages, Kayn's been banned from using the Heartsteel twitter. (The last straw was him using the account to threaten a member of his old band. Apparently, Alune didn't think "I'LL FUKKIN DOXX U LOL" an appropriate use of the official twitter account.) He's still semi-active on his personal accounts, but only in sporadic bursts.

Kayn knows how to tie a knot in a cherry stem with his tongue.

Like most rockstars, Kayn dabbles in cocaine. His drug use is pretty limited, though, mostly because he doesn't really need drugs to be high-energy and unhinged. When clips of his erratic behavior surface or Kayn goes on a twitter rampage, newer fans often speculate about Kayn being on drugs. Veteran Heartbeats know that he’s just Like That, though. 

Kayn says he doesn't have a favorite bandmate. (He does. It's Ezreal.)

A lot of the time, Kayn has to be reminded to eat. When he's busy writing songs or hanging out with the band, stopping for a bite never crosses his mind. Thankfully, Sett's on top of his meal schedule (gotta hit those macros!) so he'll remind Kayn that lunch is a Thing That Exists.

Kayn spends a ridiculous amount of time on his nails. Cuticles? Trimmed. Polish? Immaculate, and always black or burgundy. Topcoat? Applied and glass-smooth. Of course he'll deny that his nail routine is so precise because it doesn't fit his devil-may-care image, but come on. Chipped OPI and hangnails? Couldn't be him.

Kayn hates nothing more than the passenger seat. Let him drive! Yes, he knows that he's gotten two speeding tickets in the past three months. Yes, he's completely aware that K'sante got violently carsick the last time Kayn drove everyone to Taco Bell. He does not care. He will NEVER care. Driving is fun and driving recklessly is really fun.

You won't catch Kayn in a salon. He dyes and cuts his own hair in his bathroom. (How is it still so perfect?!)

Kayn is way too eager to help Aphelios pull pranks on people. Unfortunately, he can dish it out, but he can't take it. A prank on Kayn has a 50/50 chance of putting him in a sour, bitchy mood for the next hour.

Of all the band members, Kayn's the one that spends the most time alone. He doesn't have many friends outside Heartsteel. And, even though he knows his band has his back and he appreciates them, he needs frequent social breaks.

Kayn's the ultimate night owl. It's rare for him to go to bed before 4 AM. Despite this, he's always up before ten. Maybe it's Yone's rigorous recording schedule that gets him up. Maybe he's so high-energy, his body can't stand staying still for more than six hours. Maybe, though, it's just all the Monster energy drinks.

Consider it a sign that he likes you if Kayn spam-texts you. If he doesn't, he won't even bother responding. (But, if he suddenly stops texting you out of the blue? Don't worry. He probably broke his phone. Again.)

Yone is the only one with a real headphone case. Aphelios has his around his neck 24/7, but his wireless earbuds have a case. Sett's just shoving his in there with twenty pounds of dumbbells and hoping for the best.

Yone's got so many little gadgets and I don't even know what they all are. He has his laptop and (probably) his phone, plus a smartwatch, and maybe a portable charger? He's that prepared.

I've started re-watching the Venom movies recently

It got me thinking about Kayn and Rhaast's relationship in canon, and how for some odd reason Kayn is the only darkin host that wasn't corrupted immediately upon holding the weapon for the first time, and is still fighting against the corruption. Is it true that Kayn is just THAT powerful and Rhaast is the current weakest darkin? Or perhaps there's more to them than we realize?

What I think might be the case is a combination of factors mentioned previously and something else, which I'll talk about in this post so pls stay with me 🙏

Okok so, in Venom (2018) we see how Venom and Eddie meet, how at first they're really just parasite and host, but then after seeing how much they're alike Venom gives everything up. Venom was a nobody amongst the others, just like Eddie, who has lost everything previously. They achieved symbiosis because they are the same, pretty much, and they are so goddamn special that not even Riot (ha) could take them down (with some help of course, love my girl Anne).

THAT got me thinking about Hwei's voice line, the one in which he says "If you just allowed yourselves to BLEND". It's a very interesting line, we can think about some possibilities but first we discuss exactly why Kayn hasn't been corrupted yet (I know I'm rambling a bit, sorry lol)

So, it could be that he really is that powerful, he has been training since childhood (he had a pretty rough one, too). At some point Zed took him in and Kayn became a powerful weapon/tool (parallels!! Kayn being used as a weapon and Rhaast being one, literally) and with his tragic backstory and some other voice lines (this time from Swain, I believe) we know that Kayn, after all he's been through, mistakes hatred for affection, since all he knows is negative, bad things.

So Kayn is traumatized, who isn't? Well, I know for sure the darkin have a very sad past too so let's talk about them (and Rhaast, of course) next

The darkin, once ascended, fought against The Void and each other for some time. The things they've seen and been through cost them their minds, with the years they became less of who they once were, some corrupted beyond redemption and the only way to stop this war was with imprisonment, so that's what happened. Many died, with the remaining ones being sealed away in weapons. Inside their prison they cannot breathe (that's why they sound very out of breath, I was happier before knowing about that) or scream, or do anything really, it's another void, much like the first they fought.

So imagine, after years of being trapped inside a tiny space, some guy finds you and, unlike the others, there's a barrier blocking your way inside their mind. This one is different, that's for sure, but Rhaast is a darkin, he will break this host one day...

But this day seems further and further away, the barrier still strong. Could it be that Rhaast is weaker than the others, or perhaps their tactic of corrupting minds away just doesn't work on Kayn? Well, like I previously talked about, both Kayn and Rhaast have a tragic backstory. my guess is that Rhaast and the other darkin use negative emotions/memories in order to break the host's mind, the pain unbearable to them. But Kayn? Negative emotions/memories is ALL he has, all he ever had, so this method couldn't possibly be the most effective to use, right?

Kayn is stronger than most, sure, but he wasn't immediately corrupted because he is barely affected by Rhaaat's tactics, which consist of breaking the mind with bad memories and emotions, which unfortunately for him is all Kayn knows. It DOES affect him a bit, for all we know, but we can't exactly expect him to be 100% immune, he's still human 🤷‍♀️

We don't know how things are going for them currently, if anyone's winning yet. I actually don't think that's ever happening, because 1. They would break the fucking champion; 2. Is it truly a win if they're just gonna miss each other's company after? (Rhaast presumably doesn't care but that can change, I mean just look at Varus). Im gonna start with a thought that's banging its way out of my head: when the 3 of you are cuddling, Zed and Shen take turns being the little spoon (the one in the middle)!!! And they fight about it!!!

Which is incredibly funny because Shen will be getting ready to be in the middle, stop and say he doesn't want to be cuddled by Zed, who'll sigh and say he knows he's lying but then he also doesn't want to cuddle Shen, because he's too stubborn, and you'll have to remind them that you can just be the little spoon

And they'd be quiet because... they wanted to be the ones in the middle... cuddled by both his lovers...

Nights with them would be a game of musical chairs with everyone changing places round and about

They would call themselves and each other old to you ALL the time, doesn't matter if you're the same age as them or younger. Anything that Zed does, Shen goes "that's because he is an old man Y/N" to which Zed would reply " my hair isn't the one turning white"

They'd have very different ways to celebrate special occasions and show affection, but would join forces to prepare surprises or things for you, though Zed would try not to be in Shen's way and let him do things mostly how he wants it

Shen is an overthinker, so at times he would be very hard on himself and your relationship. That's when the time comes for you and Zed to make his head shut up, grab him his favorite food and say lots of reassuring words

(Due to everything that happened, Zed isn't confident on reassuring Shen with words, so he'd do the physical touch and let most of the talk to you)

When you wanna be a little shit, you call Zed Usan. Shen can't really do it because it brings some painful memories to the surface, but every time you want to tease him and make Zed just a little bit annoyed, "Usan" it is

You would be seen as a ROYALTY to both kinkou and Order of Shadow members. Like, it's wild, even when both orders don't know about the nature of your relationship with the enemie's leader, they know your importance to their respective leader

Kayn would stop in his tracks when you pass, genuinely worried he'd offend you somehow and anger Zed, and Akali (before she left the kinkou) would stare at you with respect

(Shen is a little terrified at the idea of the Kinkou finding out about your relationship, but Zed thinks it would be just a little funny, though way too messy, which is why the 3 of you agreed on keeping things partially a secret)

If you're from one specific order, the other one wouldn't interfere on your training, but if you're not... damn, those 2 would FIGHT to train you, wanting to teach you what they know! And how they do things!

On that note, you would often have to tell them to shut the fuck up and stop bickering, because they will bicker a lot

Remember I said you'd just have to call Zed Usan to tease him?... well it 100% applies in the sexual scenario too, and then Shen does it too... you too can be little shits when it comes to teasing Zed

You and Shen absolutely team up against him, and provoke him until he loses his cool, and damn when he does... the two of you are in for a ride

In fact, Zed tends to get a more controlling role in the sexual part of the relationship, but Shen likes to push back just because he doesn't like to admit que enjoys Zed being in control

BUT... they'd absolutely love if YOU dominated them. Like, very literal domination, not only a little controlling. Sometimes they'd bicker with each other just to get try and push you to see if you'd let it out on them

When Shen feels like taking the reins, he likes to make Zed watch. He'd fuck you doggy style, facing Zed, tell you to moan his name, whisper how you're just his right now, only his to fuck, and the Shadow assassin would sit silently in the dark, barely visible as he touches himself

Zed really loves to watch, and no amount of pride or bickering or anything would stop him from making it very clear

Which Shen would try to convince you to do, out of spite (his whole detached thing is always tested when it comes to you and Zed) and the thrill of it, knowing you two are doing something "wrong"

On the other hand Shen wouldn't really mind to not be included, he has a significantly lower sex drive than Zed, so it doesn't matter to him if you and Zed have sex more than you and him, or him and Zed

Sometimes, when they both have time, because they are busy men, they would take the day or night to worship you. You wouldn't be allowed to move a muscle, just lay there and take whatever they give you

Despite them having different ways to show love and appreciation, that moment is one in which they are in perfect sync and make you feel like the most loved and desired person in all of Runeterra

Shen is pretty much an oral kind of guy, so their favorite position with you would be you on all 4 and Zed taking you from the back while Shen uses your mouth

That's an absolute killer for both of them and they crawl up the walls with the view

As I said Shen isn't usually dominating but one of the things that would really tickle him and you and Zed would know just how to use, is mentions of his fairly bigger size when it comes to both of you (guy has a size Kink deal with it)

Get ready for a long answer!

So recently I've been hyperfixated on Leqgue of Legends, as silly as that sounds. Specifically, I've been reading into the lore of the characters and the world and got hooked on that! Funnily enough, both answers are in this picture.

My blorbo (Overall favorite) is Kayn, his full name actually being Shieda Kayn. He was born in Noxus, an extremely violent nation focused on war and conquest. When he was just a little kid, he was abandoned by his parents and conscripted to the army. After a disasterous battle in Ionia (a nation across the sea from Noxus that they are constantly attempting to invade) where he was basically used as a meatshield, he was abandoned again and left for dead. After being taken in by another champion in the game, Zed, he was trained in the art of shadow magic and killing.

Even though he was born in Noxus, he absolutely despises his homeland. He went through so much hell and trauma over there that he basically sees red whenever he even glimpses at the Noxian insigna. He is devoted to Ionia ans has sworn loyalty to the cause of driving the Noxians out.

As for personality, he's snarky and sarcastic, slightly overconfident and smug, but also highly disciplined and genuinely a good person deep down. His body, mainly the right side (his red arm and weird mask looking thing over his right eye) is corrupted, specifically by the second answer to the ask.

My poor little meow meow (problematic fave) is Rhaast, who is actually the weird scythe he's holding in the picture! Rhaast is a Darkin, a being from the faraway land of Shurima. The Darkin were once Ascended, basically godlike beings, but long story short, they became corrupted and twisted. They waged war on the heavens and the world itself, and as punishment, they were each sealed in a weapon. However, if they can corrupt someone through the weapon, they can get that someone to be their host... Unfortunately for Rhaast, however, he happened to pick Kayn as his host. Kayn's extremely stubborn when it comes to losing and is proving much more difficult to corrupt than anticipated...

They met when Kayn was sent off for a mission on Noxian soil. Basically, him and a fellow acolyte were to intercept a Noxian transport that had gotten hold of a powerful weapon. After they fpund the weapon, they were to destroy it, as it had power no one should ever wield. Rhaast then pulled a One Ring maneuver and coaxed Kayn into picking him up instead... Now they're in a constant struggle against each other.

Rhaast's personality is Violence. Just violence. He's very bloodthirsty, and if he had any say-so, I'm pretty sure he'd kill anyone he sees. He's a murderous entity who just wants to kill and destroy. He's probably rabid. In his current state, he can't do much other than commune with his possible host and attempt to corrupt him, but let it be known that he and Kayn do not like each other. They bicker like two people who would probably kill one another as soon as they have the chance... which is literally their dynamic haha

Overall, I'm rooting for Kayn to win the struggle because he's just so babygirl tbh??? But there's something about Rhaast's line ingame that I always find fun. He's a monster and he knows it, and I like that.

Thing on my mind:

I can't help but think of the character of Nakuri or rather the potential this character has.

Like i've read a lot of fic with Kayn (mainly with ships but eh) and i can' help but think that Nakuri is character that can have an real impact in Kayn's life in SOOOO many way.

Because i think he should be part of the package, like you include Zed and/or Akali in some type way in Kayn's life, you should add Nakuri too.

I mean he is present in both Kayn's short stories: in the first one in the canon universe, Nakuri is also an apprentice and get in the way in the mission to retrieve Rhaast, he is like a rival. Meanwhile in the second short story, set in the odyssey universe, he is not only a commander under Kayn but is also AN OLD FRIEND. THAT is an important and very interesting point.

Because in the canon universe, Nakuri is dead (at least that we can assume that) so he's not revelent but in alternative universe? Damn the possibilites are insane! (i think he died in the odyssey too not sure)

You can give different role to him and depending on how close you make them, he has a more or less important impact on Kayn's life.

Nakuri can be a rival, a childhood friend, past lover etc and in the heartsteel au he can be part of Kayn's pevious band (i've seen that quickly) and you just had to add his death or betrayal in the mix and you get ✨traumatised Kayn✨. And you have like no information about him that he is almost like a blank sheet that you just have to fill

I also like the idea that in canon Kayn probably didn't feel an ounce of guilt when he killed Nakuri while in any alternative universe you can make him feel different level of griefs and probably guilt if he played any role in his death

i'm not a writer lol but like here are a few exemples (and i know some writers like to make the characters suffer)

modern au :

-they were close friends in highschool 🏫

option 1 : nakuri + betrayal = kayn got trust issues

option 2 : nakuri + death by accident +more or less play a part in it kayn= broken and guilty kayn

-they were lovers ❤️

you can applied the previous options

option 3: nakuri + toxicity= broken/traumatised kayn

-enemies to friend to lovers to dead💀

-He was Kayn's crush💔

option 1: he rejected Kayn like an asshole

option 2: he played with Kayn's feelings

I dont think a lot of people have read Kayn's short stories OR people don't think Nakuri is that useful as a character and maybe thats why Nakuri barely appear anywhere (i think its more the second lol or they just forget about him). Anyway i just really needed to get this all out, its not a big deal but the idea have been taking all the space in my head dancing and twirling
