I read a fanfic the other day and it had me thinking.
I whole heartedly believe that whenever Suki is trying to justify some kind of gratuitous violence she looks at aang and says something like
“Kyoshi would agree”
Or, “Right, Kyoshi?”
Because she knows full well he has connections to his past life and knows even better that Kyoshi would 100% approve of said gratuitous violence. And she definitely found ways to show Suki her approval.
Plus we know Suki and Kyoshi are buddies bc of the comic, “Suki, Alone”

for the fandom ask game I shall ask ATLA (because even though you're not as active in ATLA right now, I feel like I already know your answers for Stranger Things and I want something with a bigger cast than TOG)
This is such a hard one! I totally get why you did it, but I started thinking about these and I was like "...but they're all my favorites!!!!"
I tried my best, though.
• Favourite Female: This might have been the hardest? I love Katara so much, but I had to go with my childhood fave, Toph
• Favourite Male: Iroh. Because I loved Zuko as a kid, but as an adult, Iroh is just the actual best.
• 3 Other Favourite Characters: Zuko, Katara, Sokka. No shade to Aang, but you and I have a whole Thing about main characters being just less interesting.
• 3 OTPs: Sokka/Yue, Sokka/Suki, ...uhhhhh it turns out I'm mostly ambivalent about ships in this show. Can I reach into the future for Korrasami? Or choose Sokka/Suki/Yue? Momo/Miuyki? Zuko/therapy? That combines to 3, right?
• Notp: Zutara. I rewatched the series recently and I DO get it. The Dynamic is there. But I also found myself on that rewatch going "oh the last thing these two need is each other."
• Funniest character: Zuko is fucking hilarious. He's not TRYING, but that makes it funnier.
• Prettiest character: Azula. She would hate that answer so much.
• Most Annoying Character: SOKKA WAS RIGHT! AUNTIE WU IS THE WORST!!
• Most badass character: Katara. There were so many options here. Iroh is a BAMF. Toph is our Earth Rumble champ. Azula could kick my ass. But Katara is very powerful and very angry in a way that terrifies me.
• Character I’d like as my BFF: I feel like all of the younger characters would have some trait that would get really annoying after a while. I love them as characters. But Katara mom-friending me would eventually get old. That being said, my dad is one of my best friends, so I’m going with Iroh. I want to drink tea and talk shit. Or, for practical reasons, Appa.
• Female Character I’d Marry: Suki. Not to be a lesbian, but oh my god, etc.
• Male Character I’d Marry: hmmmm…. Uhhh… I recognize that there are technically a lot of men in this show. I like a lot of them as characters. But I can’t think of any I’d want to marry. Iroh's great, but solidly too old for me. The Earth King seems like a good person to marry if I want power and/or to travel and not actually have to do much as a spouse. Maybe Master Piandao? He seems cool.
• Character I hate/dislike/least like: I had a hard time thinking of this, since the main characters are all pretty great, even the villains for doing their villany thing. But I went through the list of episodes and would like to nominate everyone from the episode "The Great Divide." Selfish bastards.

Monopoly
“Katara. This is it. We’re over, done.”
She rolls her eyes. Toph stifles a laugh from her place on the couch.
The Gaang had gathered after two weeks since their last meeting for a movie and game night, and all of them were having a great time. (Some more than others.) They has been playing a particularly intense game of Monopoly, and Katara had won through sly cheating. Aang had been thoroughly offended, and Sokka, Suki, Toph and Zuko were having the time of their lives.
“Our relationship is over,” Aang proclaims dramatically. Toph snickers as Aang drapes himself over Suki. “I’m going to date Suki now.”
Suki makes a noise of disgust. “Eugh. Even if I wasn’t gay as fuck I wouldn’t date you.”
“Ooh,” Sokka and Toph say in unison. Sokka high fives her.
“Damn, Suki, you can’t even pretend?” He asks pitifully as he sits up. Zuko smacks him across the back of the head.
“Ow, what was that for?”
“You’re not allowed to swear until you’re 18.”
Aang pouts, and collapses on the floor. “Nobody in this family loves me,” he mumbles.
“Yeah, that sounds about right,” Toph affirms.
Zuko hugs Aang.
“Zuko loves me,” Aang says petulantly..
“No, I just don’t want to hear you whine.” Zuko replies.
Aang pulls away, grasping at his heart in mock pain.
“Nobody loves you, and nobody loves me,” Sokka says, going along with Aang’s dramatics.
“My own boyfriend won’t kiss me until,” he says, pausing for dramatic effect. Sokka clears his throat to imitate Zuko’s voice, “You brush your teeth, because I’m a vegetarian who can’t eat chicken.”
Aang gives him a fist bump and the two mope on the ground. Katara looks away from them, unimpressed.
“Now that the losers are gone, who wants to play another round?”

Suki runs a woman's kickboxing gym
Writing prompt ATLA #1
Suki is an instructor at a women’s gym, she runs a beginners self defence class once a week and Sokka comes to help acting as the “aggressor” and happily gets beat up by Suki and a bunch of girls every week.
Maybe the background for his willingness to help could come from Katara being attacked (something more mild, but still scary) on her way home from campus and signing up for Suki's class. Maybe that’s how Sokka and Suki met?
Anyways after that Sokka learns more about being a helpful feminist ally and that’s why he still helps out in the gym even though Katara stoped taking classes and Suki and him broke up to be friends.

ATLA Characters as Things My Nuna (a BAMF) Has Done
Aang: got friendship tattoos with her bff in the back of a stranger's van
Sokka: cut her arm with a knife and got stitches from a cute doctor which she later went on a couple dates with
Katara: was arrested after slashing her abusive ex's tires and I had to bail her out :/
Toph: brought vodka in a water bottle to church
Suki: said "you know what? I could probably be a kickboxer" AND DID IT
Zuko: went through a slight arson phase

AU where the spirits of the previous avatars are more invovled with the world, where they decide to push the world to finding Aang. They become guides to those they can feel will mean much to Aang
Avatar Roku guides Zuko, taking control of his body only once so that he fights when his father attack - that he shouts his resolve against Ozais war plan. He still loses, is still branded and banished for his fighting. But his plight quickly spreads amoung the people. The nobles may despise Zuko, but he is the peoples prince. That is more important, Roku claims even as Zuko refuses to listen.
Avatar Kyoshi is Toph's guide. Its her that calls the badger moles to this blind girl with a will of steel, its her that teaches Toph every swear word possible and encourages her to get up and try harder. It's her that pushes Toph to follow Aang, to take that last step and finally run away forever.
(After Suki joins, occasionally Kyoshi leaves Tophs shoulder. Toph is a capable young girl whose meet the Avatar, Kyoshis job is technically done unlike someone, Roku. Its only fair that she checks on her people)
As for Katara and Sokka I'm not sure yet.
Does Katara have no one, because the Avatars know she will be a hurdle on Aang's path to the Avatar State even if shes the one to free him. Does she have a quiet guide, one who refuses to be attached and refuses she teach her anything. Does her guide led her to Aang and then try to guide her away.
As for Sokka, well Sokka isnt like the others. I'm thinking either his guide is Gyatso, whose mostly there for fun.
Or Sokka is literally a god in human form, having given up hia memories and powers in hopes of righting the world. Is he La? Is he the first Avatar, whose servered his ties to the elements to exist seperately from the Avatar. You decide.
