Pink and that time I refused to let my Bodyline tea parties die, part 6
My poor bodyline tea parties.
Bought in nov 2011 for $39, sole fell off. Glued on the sole. Other shoe's toe blew out, repaired the toe, lasted for about two years until the toe blew out again and the sole cracked in half, fixed with a leather repair kit and a chunk I cut out of a couch I found on the side of the road, painted them gold. I've had these shoes longer than I've had my bipolar diagnosis.
I give you
one of the stupidest things I've ever made:

Tea party quad skates.

♡ My 2023 retrospective: egl version ♡ PART 7/9
Continues from the previous post.
After that, we went to eat lunch at a café, but before that, there was this beautiful place that looked perfect for taking pictures of my coord, but we were in a hurry, so I only took like 2 photos and this is the one that came out better even though it's funny because it's the typical bad windy photos with hair covering my face lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm sharing it because we need to remember that people online are real and ugly like us too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look how cute our old school babylitas @idonthaveaname0000 and @puredeathwish are! I love them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, the quality of the pictures started getting better. That's because I didn't take them, a community member sent them to us after the meet. So get ready for more paintings spam!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our meet ended with this chonky rainbow cake that didn't taste like anything.

November was also the month when this Axes Femme collection came out and I will absolutely have my indie brand seamstress friend make me a velveteen headbow that I can tie to my head instead of having to wear a headband. Even though I'm one of the few people that I know that doesn't actually have sensory issues, headbands are often uncomfortable, especially if you wear glasses and a ton of other hair accessories (which a lot of lolitas do), so I'm looking forward to having this little item in my wardrobe this 2024 (it's gonna match the velveteen dress that she will make me too)! Also, watching Misako's and brand lives with other people is a lot better than watching them by yourself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another thing that happened is that I sent my friend @saturnia-pyri a Moomin birthday gift that contained a book bag that she used for a fancy lolita tea party with her local comm. Even though she's italian, she lives in Ireland and is part of the irish comm, so we can't meet often. I wish I could see all my friends more easily and wear cute outfits together or just hang out casually, but it is what it is. I'm glad we can enjoy our friendship anyway even if we're apart and that she liked my present and used it in her lovely coord!

December
Aaaand we finally got to the last month of this long year in review. December started with masala chai and celebration for finally becoming a licensed psychologist. I invited many friends and acquaintances, but only a few showed up. Among them were some people from my comm. I was genuinely really glad that they came, and some even brought me gifts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we actually had two different Christmas/winter lolita meet-ups!
This is what I wore for the first one. The theme of the meet was "Christmas books/movies/media". I tried to use this Tomoyo's Atelier JSK for my first real punk coord, with my Black Peace Now jacket and actual punk bag from when I was young. My coord was also inspired by A nightmare before christmas. I'm standin with @puredeathwish here.

I love all the photos @puririna took of us! More to follow on the next post!

idk man it's crazy to think that i own 2 of my dream dresses already.........once cream soda mermaid op in sax shows up second hand i'm not even gonna hesitate
after 5 years in this fashion, finally owning my first brand piece is just insane to me, especially because it's been one of my dream prints ever since i entered the fashion. ik i'm a bit of a babylita and eeeeeveryone likes sugary carnival but i never imagined i'd make it to this point.
and sure it's a bit goofy when one of your dream dresses is a bodyline jsk that you managed to buy on sale directly from the site for 8 dollars, but even getting my hands on a dress i fell in love with on mercari but never bought because it wasn't my size feels like an accomplishment.
my lolita collection may be small at only 5 dresses, but all of those dresses mean the absolute world to me and so does this fashion.
i'm so grateful to be where i am.
(p.s.: i now have matching shoes for both dresses woooo!)

I'm a 6'3" tall trans woman looking to get into gothic lolita fashion. Do you have any tips on locating clothes that'd be able to fit me well? Most of the information I've looked through so far seems to indicate that I'd need to sew my own stuff to have it fit nice, but locating patterns I like the look of has proven quite daunting for me, and it's been rather... stressful? for me since I'm not 100% certain what to look for.
Sorry for taking over a month to get back to you on this one! I wanted to make sure that I have good input.
If money isn't your primary concern, the first brands I'd suggest you look into are Atelier Pierot and Metamorphose. Meta is a little bit less gothic, but they do offer a lot of their clothing in plus sizes. Atelier Pierot is definitely gothic and offers quite a few taller/larger sizes.
Ellie Vrya, the only youtube channel I know of that talks both about wrestling and lolita fashion, also does a lot of reviews of clothing she wears, and she's quite tall.
Otherwise, for sewing, I personally learned a lot by just making mockups of EVERYTHIGN that I made for like my first year of sewing. I used this tutorial, made it out of cheap fabric, and when I was done just used the fabric as modified pattern pieces. This also had the advantage of everything that I sewed in nice fabric, I'd already followed the pattern once in muslin, so I had a lot more confidence. I haven't talked about that process before on this blog, but I'd been thinking about what really helped me as babylita, and that was one of those things.
Also, Anon: please keep checking back on the notes in this post. The community here is amazing and often provides a lot of help and resources that I can't provide on my own.

13 and 18 for the lolita asks🥧
Thank you so much!! 💖
13: first ever purchase?
Gosh, I think my first "genuine" lolita pieces were a BxW headbow, bloomers, and a very, very sad petticoat from Anna House. It was in 2008, I believe. The rest of said coord was put together entirely with off brand items btw. Babylita moment.
18: what's the best feature a dress could have?
A contrasting white collar and/or yoke, and a square neckline.
Tumblr media
Baby's Genoise OP is a perfect example of all 3 and oh, my heart!! (I was in fact very tempted to get it, but had to back out due to budget)
Also: A very full, swooshy skirt!

Cheap coord challenge pt 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Coord total: $146 | Cumulative coord total: $146 Other entires will be posted on the "20dollarlolita coord challenge" tag.
Okay, cheap coord challenge, first entry. There will be several, but I don't want to wait and make one master post.
So, the rules I'm following for the least expensive coord challenge: 1) Each coordinate's value must include all items being worn except for petticoat and medical devices. If we're including glasses and hearing aids and shoe orthodics then these are going to get expensive really fast. 2) the challenge of "how many coords can I make for the cost of a really expensive coord" only has to count an item one time. If I wear the same shoes for seven coords, the cumulative total only has to add the shoes one time.
This wasn't the first one I wanted to do, but it's the first one that I ended up wearing, so here we are. This is $146, with 41% of that total being the cost of the shoes.
Blouse: Bodyline, $30 Skirt: $6, one of the first lolita things I made Overskirt and headbow: $20? Both of them were small items from lucky packs from Souffle Song, so I'm not sure how to count that Tights: $10 Wrist cuffs: $4, diy'd while I was at work specifically for this Jewelry: $16 from thrift stores, handmade, or the 14 years of my life that I had to go to Sunday school plus the year in confirmation class that I went through to be given the cross as a reminder of the pledge that they allowed a literal child to take to vow to spread the word of the Lord which became a vow that I never really honored, so this cost me disappointing Jesus, but didn't cost any money Shoes: $60
If we don't count the shoes, we're down to $86, and I'm not sure if it's fair to count the shoes since I wear them literally everywhere (they're the shoes that have the fancy ankle orthodics so they're my saily shoes). But including these is in the rules, so we're counting them. The whole reason I decided to sort of take a punk route with this coord was because I was going to wear those boots anyway. I started this look out by going to get breakfast with my grandma, and that original iteration is the look on the right of the collage with the flowered tights.
The thing that I really like about this look is how flexible all the pieces are. I have a lot of ideas planned out for this challenge and almost all of these pieces except the skirt are getting reused somehow. I also really like doing pink and black together, because that's what tiny me wanted lolita to be all the time. I also have a lot of nostalgia for that skirt just because I was so proud of it when I made it. The bow has a little book charm on it that says Holy Bible on one side and has a Chi Rho on the other side. I usually just hope that no one notices that, but today I went fuck it and wore a cross. I usually don't do that (religion is my sister's thing, not mine) but it made my grandma happy.
Things I'm not happy about: Boy is that skirt boring and way too long. It's so hard to work with but I'm so fond of it because babylita me made it. I wish I had something that reads a bit more punk than the blouse for this? I'd really like a graphic cutsew instead of a button-up blouse. These wrist cuffs are the reason I now understand exactly how long of a wrist cuff is too long, and they also need some adornment. I'm so incredibly tired of wearing those boots all the time, and I'd love to use some shoes that really take the look over the top a bit more. I also used to be able to tease my hair up pretty big and get this cool look, but since I've cut it shorter I've needed to re-learn the art of alternative hair teasing and instead it just looks like a 1960's flip hairstyle.
I wasn't planning on starting the challenge with an experimental coord, but I didn't decide what day my grandma's birthday was, did I?
Y'all know the rules, concrete is good and you can submit it anonymously if you want.
