Aster: And that was the start of it. I still don't know what brought her out to the island that day; I never asked her to talk about her past, and I think she was appreciative of that.
Hibiscus: So you really have no idea where she came from?
Aster: I wondered, of course, but in the end it didn't really matter. She never once spoke about her family and I had none to speak of. We started dating not long after that first meeting and, being an orphan, it felt like I had common ground with her in a way not many others could understand.
Hibiscus: So you guys moved fast, huh?
Aster: Maybe, but we shared a connection and saw a future together. Jasmine especially; she was a big believer in fate. She truly believed that we were supposed to happen.
Hibiscus: *shook* Did you... Ever have dreams-

Late July - balmy nights, languid light, warm skin and cool cotton. We press our feet to wet grass, down on the banks where dragonflies shimmer. you humming, the old river thrumming elderflower in my hair. we pick clover, jasmin, aster and wade knee deep in the water; bird songs drifting, willows hushing, dusk falling fig-blue overhead. Around us the smell of damp earth, lilac. The river murmuring a secret; quietly we murmur ours back.

Flower Day
Flower Day is celebrated annually on May 20. It makes a toast to the beauty of flowers and the ways they are useful to us. On the holiday, environmentalists and conservationists create awareness about flower conservation and what can be done to save endangered flower species.
History of Flower Day
We love flowers because of their awe-inspiring beauty and fragrance. They also play a significant role in romance, medicine, rituals, and religion. You can spot them at christenings, funerals, weddings, and parties, as corsages and boutonnieres at special occasions, and as home decorations and thoughtful gifts. They are also used at places of worship, especially by Hindus. It’s not uncommon to see religious shrines adorned with flowers.
There are also some flowers that regularly feature in our meals! Nutritious vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, and artichoke are actually flowers. Similarly, some flowers are used as spices, such as crocus (or saffron), cloves, and capers. Hops are used in beer, and dandelion and elderflowers are used in wines and cocktails. Moreover, some flowers are used to make herbal teas, while others are used as metaphors. For example, red roses symbolize love, poppies of death, iris and lilies of burial, and daisies of innocence. Artists and poets have also sought flowers as muses.
However, caring for flowers is no mean feat! Flowers have their own unique requirements in terms of growth and health. Some flowers prefer to be in the shade, while others need sunlight. Still, others thrive in damp soil, while some require the soil to be on the drier side. Flowers are divas, but they’re divas that have held our hearts for centuries.

hi! i wanted to know if you know any flowers specifically meaning empathy? this blog has been super helpful in helping me find new meanings to flowers i didn't know of btw!
Hi there,
Unfortunately, there are no flowers which specifically mean empathy. Compassion and sympathy, however, do exist. I'm glad we've been able to help with so much else though.
allspice – compassion
aster (china, double) – I partake in your sentiments
balm – sympathy
daisy (garden) – I share/partake your sentiments
elderflower – compassion, zealousness
sea-thrift – sympathy
sea lavender – sympathy
thrift – sympathy

correspondences for achillea millefolium “common yarrow”
magical properties
Yarrow is a clear Venus herb and is associated especially with healing and divination. Yarrow (achillea) is named after the Greek warrior, Achilles, and was used to heal his soldiers wounds during the Trojan war as he was taught by Chiron. [1] Yarrow also has a connection with divination. The I Ching are traditionally consulted with yarrow rods, while in Europe yarrow has been used for divining the name of one’s future lover, coming back to its Venus qualities. Also in Europe, yarrow has been used as a protectant, strewn across thresholds and worn as an amulet.  [2]

[A. millefolium ‘Moonshine’ growing in my garden]
Practically, yarrow is a great idea for glamour (a Gaelic women’s incantation can be found here), for divinatory teas/sachets/incenses, and any kind of working for love. Roth notes its ability to “potentiate other herbs when added to incense or when incorporated into love magick” so consider making it a standard addition to any Venus working. Due to its association with staunching blood (see below), many have remarked on its ability to strengthen ones energy body when suffering from stress, burn out, or psychic attack. [3] Yarrow regulates the creative flow, teaches intentional restraint, and protects the vulnerable. [4]
Cultivating yarrow acts as ward for the property it is on and wearing yarrow flowers help avert the evil eye. Yarrow has a very light, airy quality and its scent is very uplifting which contributes to its use as a divinatory herb. As one of the few divinatory Venus herbs, this one has a unique strength for divination regarding love, money, or healing. Yarrow has taught me itself that it is a great herb for warding and strengthening ones own energy body, especially for divination and for those of us who are educators or caregivers. Along with this, yarrow offers courage, a particular kind of compassionate courage, which makes it an excellent magical ally for activists. Yarrow is the mom friend. Yarrow is the mom friend’s mom friend.

[A yarrow in Slovenia by Petar Milošević]
physical and medicinal properties
Yarrow is a small herb that easily spreads in recently disturbed areas. You’ll see it spring up on roadsides amidst the weeds in temperate climates, along ditches, and after wildfires. Yarrow is a member of the Asteraceae, the aster/sunflower/daisy family. Characteristic of this species, yarrow has composite flowers which means that each of the small “flowers” that make up a yarrow inflorescence is actually made of several small flowers. The ones towards the center are called “disk flowers” and the ones that look like petals are called “ray flowers.” [5] (Seriously, click through the link for a series of close-up views of yarrow flowers blooming!)
In general, yarrow is noted for its uses for skin health. From ancient times its fresh leaves have been used as a poltice to aid wound healing, while its hydrosol makes a wonderful skincare ingredient and its dried flowers are useful for ointments. On the other hand, its dried leaves (and flowers) are used to make a tea that many use to recover from colds as well as bring on fever (especially when combined with peppermint and elderflower).
