Arya's wolf hairgrip in graphic novel is so cute
Also, I can't help but mention that Arya, who looks a lot like Lyanna, said she will look for Rhaegar's rubies.

The Wings of War
Summary:
Fifteen years have passed since the battle with Drago Bludvist. Since then, Berk and its allies have lived in relative peace, banding together to fend off whatever trouble finds its way to the Archipelago. But as The Gathering of the Chieftains arrives, rumours abound of an encroaching dragon-riding army, tinging the ceremonies with dread rather than joy. Hiccup and the other dragon riders will be faced once again with an old foe; their children will try to find their way in childhoods interrupted by violent conflict; and Toothless will rediscover parts of his past thought to be forever lost. In a tale of love, grief, and revenge, none can escape the shadow cast by the wings of war.

Someone is still mad about this post:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What happens with certain shippers (Jon/aunty & Jon/fave sister) and Justin Sweet's asoiaf artworks???
First they claimed that Justin Sweet's renditions of Joshua York & Jon Snow hanging next to each other in GRRM's home office confirms that Jon/aunty are true everlasting love; and now, apparently, Justin Sweet's renditions of "black haired" Stark women in the 2024 Asoiaf Calendar confirms that The Rose of Winterfell has nothing to do with Sansa Stark and her mother Catelyn. All because they are still mad that the The Rose of Winterfell is depicted as a redhead, very similar to Sansa and Catelyn in the A Clash of Kings Graphic Novel.
Fave sister stans now sound like cujo stans with the "l would like to remind you that these drawings were selected by GRRM." They all like too much to make up narratives to support their ships . . . .
Meanwhile GRRM & the artists involved in Asoiaf artwork:

"That's cover art, not an actual Targaryen banner"

"I’m perfectly willing to let the artist do different interpretations"
Q: You have a very distinct idea of what the characters look like in your own head, because readers will always take their own? GRRM: I do have ideas of what the characters look like in my own head but I’m perfectly willing to let the artist do different interpretations… You know, let different artists present their different interpretations of it, I’m fine with that. It’s not photography, so I love the idea of, you know, letting people use their own creativity within limits of course, but I love some of the works, many of the works I’ve bought original is hanging on, you know, on my own walls so…   —In conversation: George R. R. Martin with John Hodgman FULL EVENT

"The creative team behind it showed remarkable trust and creative freedom with me"
I’m hugely grateful for the opportunity. The creative team behind it showed remarkable trust and creative freedom with me, something that’s rarer than I’d like to admit in this industry. It’s been a huge level up amongst a year of extreme personal stresses. —Sam Hogg, 2021 ASoIF Calendar illustrator [Source]

So much for "l would like to remind you that these drawings were selected by GRRM"
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You can reed more about Asoiaf Artworks and Creative Freedom here:

And now you may argue that if the Book Covers, Book Illustrations and Calendar Illustrations are not canon, then the illustrations in the Graphic Novels are not canon either. Well, I covered that subject in this post:
Thanks for reading :)
UPDATE:
GRRM talking about Graphic Novels illustrations:
"I just carefully reviewed all the dialogues and drawings to make sure that no mistake or inaccuracy crept in anywhere."
A series of comics based on your story "The Hedge Knight" has recently been released. Are you satisfied with its implementation? Are there any plans to make comics based on your other works? The proposal to create a comic book based on The Hedge Knight did not come from me, but from the publisher. I was contacted, showed some preliminary sketches, which didn't impress me. But the guys were persistent and did not give up: they continued to search for a suitable artist until they settled on Michael S. Miller. In the end, he did his job just perfectly. Michael was very cool, in my opinion, was able to convey the inner essence of the characters through their appearance - that's exactly how I imagined them when I wrote the story. My participation in the project was minimal: I just carefully reviewed all the dialogues and drawings to make sure that no mistake or inaccuracy crept in anywhere. Now we are discussing the creation of a sequel based on the second part of the adventures of Dunk, published in the collection "Legends 2". It will most likely be made in the same six-comic series format as Knight of the Hedge. We also discussed the possibility of creating comics based on the Canto novels themselves. But given the size of my books, this would require a really massive series. I'm not sure that we are ready for such a grandiose project. —Mir Fantastiki - 2006 - Google translation from the source in Russian:

INTRODUCTION.
Welcome to my blog, my name is Moe (she/her) and I'm twenty-four years old (Black and Cherokee Indian). Minors and personals will be blocked.
This blog highly encourages multi-shipping and welcomes pre-established and platonic relationships.

my sideblogs: hwadam-stories (fic blog) jeungwha (rp blog), hwanghae (rp blog)
This blog may become an "canon character x reader" since I'm the only EOTS roleplayer here on Tumblr. I'll definitely write most of the main cast and will make a proper list in the future.
This blog contains dark and triggering themes revolving around sexual violence (mentioned for canon only), death, murder, politics, misogyny, starvation, child abuse, harassment, fire, miscarriages, pregnancy, child birth, kidnapping, cannibalism, poverty, etc. Please do not follow this blog if these themes are a trigger for you as they will be a talking piece on this blog.
"ELIXIR OF THE SUN" is a Korean manwha written by Solddam. The Manwha is a light novel adaptation with a total of seven books that can be purchased on ridibooks.com (you'll have to translate them on your own) and I've already bought them for fifteen dollars.

Common and respectful roleplay etiquette.
Reblog memes from the source, please and thanks. Also please ask before turning a meme into a thread.
Regarding fanfiction requests, I have a right to refuse any that I don't like / are on my blacklist (pedophilia, beastiality, incest, non-con, etc) I don't mind writing darker and mature themes but I also appreciate the lighthearted stuff just as much. Smut is a 50/50 for me, depending on my mood.

It’s always very odd to me when I read criticism of A Song Of Ice And Fire online (by which I mainly mean: on Tumblr) which takes for granted that this is some sort of obsessively dark and edgy and mean-spirited fantasy, because ... that's not what the series is actually like at all?
I mean, yes, some awful (and graphically described) stuff happens in these books, but this is at heart a deeply optimistic and almost embarrassingly romantic story, full of a very obvious sympathy and tenderness for the unhappy and the hurt and the powerless.  The weird gritty-for-the-sake-of-it books that the series's detractors describe wouldn't have recurring POV characters like Sansa Stark or Tyrion Lannister or Davos Seaworth or Samwell Tarly or Brienne of Tarth.  They certainly wouldn't obviously empathize with and respect these characters to the extent the actual books do.  They wouldn't be so obsessive about the importance of hope and kindness and understanding in an otherwise uncaring world.  Whenever the text suggests the world isn't fair or kind there's always an unspoken "but it should be,and I wish it was". You are clearly not meant to think that characters like Roose Bolton or Twyin Lannister are being held up as role models to emulate!
I mean, maybe the TV show is more like that -- I gave up on the show after only a couple of seasons, it was a terrible adaptation of the source material, even before the final season that everyone apparently hated -- but so much of the open disdain for ASOIAF I come across on here reads like the people writing the posts haven't even read a single one of the books. Yes, the popularity of ASOIAF inspired a lot of "dark" fantasy novels that actually are bleakly nihilistic and seem to revel in their characters meeting pointlessly sad and violent ends, but Martin's books are just not like that.
Yes, lots of the world-building for ASOIAF is patently ridiculous, and yes, key parts of the plot are just cribbed from the War of the Roses (or, rather, from historical novels like Sharon Penman's The Sunne in Splendour)  and yes, Martin has said some very stupid things in interviews while busy not writing the series.  And no, I'm not sure I could actually bring myself to recommend the books to anyone who's not read them before (especially when it's so unlikely that the series will ever be finished, let alone in a satisfying way).  I haven’t reread them myself in years.
But honestly, back when I was a quietly miserable teenager these books really meant a lot to me, in part because they are the opposite of the caricature often discussed online.  Yes, they acknowledged that sometimes the world was awful and unbearable.  It is!  But they also suggested that it was still important to try to be fair and kind and to appreciate the moments when things were better.  They are books about trying to do the right thing even when it’s so hard as to seem impossible and nobody else will even know that you tried, written in a way that takes for granted that “the right thing” is also the just and the optimistic and the quietly heroic thing; that doing the right thing when you afraid is more praiseworthy than never being afraid at all. And it is baffling to me how often I see people talking about them now who don't actually seem to have ever even skimmed them but are still vocally passionate in their hatred of something that, as they describe it, simply doesn't exist.

alright here is my rec list for everything george rr martin:
Tumblr media
(link will be in reblog). in it you will find:
the list of all the asoiaf books and related supplemental books and graphic novels (just to like, cover all my bases here)
books and authors across all genres that george has name dropped as having an influence on the series, from historical books written in the late 1800s about random scottish castles to the beginnings of the sword-and-sorcery genre written in serials in magazines.
books about the history he's taken inspiration from besides the ones he's name dropped - basically i found non fiction books that seemed well reviewed on an academic level but also sounded like narrative non fiction bc i can’t do anything too dry or technical. however,,,, i included notes in this section on what part of the story is inspired by each book. i kept it to the stuff that he’s name dropped - like dorne being a mash up of wales, moorish spain, and palestine, or hadrian’s wall or the anarchy - so if you think something sounds interesting but the book i picked was ass, basically every subject had a bunch of books on it!
(caveat i mean, i picked stuff that was readily available to me through my library system as someone in the greater chicagoland area lol so ymmv as to whether there's a lot of info available to you. if you want to know about how to use libby, hoopla, or kanopy tho, hit me up!!)
books i think it's very likely he took inspiration - this is the smallest section, i’m not about to project onto this man, its at the very bottom of the sheet & it’s just like, lolita, some fairy tale stuff, and other books george has written, so it’s also about further understanding his ~style~ + i am simply interested in these titles.
if anything is kind of unclear or if you noticed i missed something george has said, feel free to let me know!

me personally i think asoiaf should be adapted again and again. if we lived in a world where works entered public domain sooner we could all see tv shows and books and plays and graphic novels of people, all trying their hand to adapt the stories, just like how they do for the iliad and shakespeare. most of them would be shite, many of them cashgrabs, but the ones that manage to pull off a good adaptation would make it all worth it.

My name is Res or Reston (they/them). I'm a queer, nonbinary 30+ year old writer, artist, and crafter. While professionally, I write educational and reference materials, I also write short stories, and I am attempting my first novel in 2024!
I also do art, mostly OC portraits. I am currently in multiple drawing courses, hoping to improve my work, especially as it pertains to character design.
My degrees are in graphic design, art history, English literature, and education. I was a teacher for many years, until I was injured by a student. I went to Lipscomb and Vanderbilt Universities. I'm an avid reader and believer in continuing education and my goal this year is to take multiple free and cheap continuing education course.
I am autistic, ADHD, and have had a traumatic brain injury. I also have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, with nerve damage and osteoarthritis in my hands.
I am a cult survivor. I've been married for eleven years this year to my fantastic husband, and we have four cats!
𝖆𝖇𝖔𝖚𝖙 𝖒𝖞 𝖜𝖗𝖎𝖙𝖎𝖓𝖌
My fiction is horror, science fiction, and fantasy. I write adult fiction only, with adult themes involved. While there is usually no sexual content in my work, there are very dark themes, violence, and otherwise upsetting content. I completely respect if this isn't for you!
𝖜𝖔𝖗𝖐𝖘 𝖎𝖓 𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖌𝖗𝖊𝖘𝖘
I'm currently working on a science fiction novel inspired heavily by my love of Star Trek and Star Gate, with fantasy elements more inspired by contemporary low fantasy such as ASOIAF. It has a South Asian sapphic lead, a lesbian deuterogonist, a gray asexual deuterogonist, and an overwhelmingly queer and otherwise diverse cast of alien and human characters.
I am also working on a Lovecraftian horror story involving the FBI and an investigative journalist diving into a series of disappearances in a small town secretly controlled by a cult to dark god from the Mythos. Also very diverse, very queer, very adult in content, including murder, gore, religious abuse and trauma, etc. Thinking about making this an audio drama, but unsure.

Note
There is difference between creative license for graphic novels and just random artworks. Its common sense. Secondly, starks canonically have dark hair so drawing them as such is not strange, however, drawing them with red hair is out of blue.
Maybe it seems out of the blue, but among the people in charge of the 'A Clash of Kings' Graphic Novel are GRRM's own editor Anne Groell, and his friend, minion, and collaborator Raya Golden, who often updates GRRM's Not a Blog.
Tumblr media
And there's also the fact that GRRM's editor Anne Groell, and the adaptor of 'A Game of Thrones' Graphic Novel, Daniel Abraham, know some parts of the series's ending.
So, there are many important people involved to believe that this is just a mistake.
~~~
About the curious case of the Redhead Rose of Winterfell from A Clash of Kings Graphic Novel that looks too close to Sansa Stark and her mother Catelyn, and how this fact makes fave sister stans cry . . .
~~~
