It's probably the best English language book about the disaster out there. As I've mentioned in my previous post, it does a great job showing the people involved as, well, people, which a lot of other books fail to do. It does repeat certain myths and misinformation, though, mainly when the source is Medvedev, so I guess that's on him. Everything is on him. We (me) hate Medvedev in this household.

Drama is what makes things interesting and it's easier to say "oh, well, the operators did not agree to XYZ, actually" when you don't want to blame them, I suppose. But you might as well be perfect obedient and be innocent and the same time - after all, it's not like any of them were exactly planning making the reactor go boom that night...

Other than that, it's really really good! It includes some relevant pictures, which is always nice (I'm looking at you, Kate Brown's book), it covers a great time duration - from before Prypiat to after Chernobyl. And the author interviewed a ton of people, we have to give him that.

All in all, I absolutely need to reread this book again because my memory of it is a little foggy and I'll report back to you in case something of importance will come up!

I will strengthen and steel-man your concerns/argument, though it will always baffle me that y'all have these ridiculous spelling errors. For some fucking reason I feel like I have to make this a thing. I should not, really. These accusations are baseless, I'm not the thing he wants to frame me as, so on and so on, but because I think you are genuinely kinda worried what I meant, I'll explain it to you.

You cannot possibly reach that conclusion. Seriously, go look at literally every fic I ever wrote. Age of the idols? Ranging from 30 something down to 18, the absolute hard legal and (I guess) moral minimum, the line I don't cross.

If you go to my page or just open this weird ass tab from Tumblr (fuck Tumblr), you see stuff like "18+ Girl Group fic writer" or "No minors" or (from my Biaslists & Writelist & Requests tab) "Remember that I said most and 18+. This automatically excluded all 18- idols... I won't write those." This is easily understandable, obvious context to the message from above.

Or did you think I would just write about literal new jeans, like an review or something? No, of course not.

Like how superstitious farmers and shepherds putting bells on their flock of sheep so they would be able to find them, and people putting bells on graves so their deceased loved would be able to find their way home, heck the story itself could be a use for parents for their children to not stray away from them. Okay enough story building and on to the actual ask- ghuizhong meeting a reincarnated reader as a shepherd using the bell for his flock (reader is a teenager in this) how they met is because traveler and zhongli was trying to convince reader to give them the bell for a discount. (since I also wanted to add that bells are really only sold by farmers/blacksmiths since other than for spiritual reasons aren't really sought out for) oh yeah- the stuff that zhongli needs are different in the game it's now like- a toy, the bell, and jade

Hi R! Sure, let's get into INSAG-7! And don't you worry about flooding my inbox - it gives me a purpose :D and I get to look more into things (because I'd rather chop off my left hand than half-ass a reply, in case it's incorrect)! And I can finally be like all those popular people when I'm on the bus. Except they're texting their many friends and I'm typing up Chernobyl related posts... hmm...

Obviously, it is the "updated" version of the report made by IAEA - INSAG-1 (the newer one is called INSAG-7 because it was released 7 years later. Or at least that's why I think it's called that). It certainly got a WHOLE LOT better, lacking the needlessly harsh and untrue criticisms of the operators as well as most of the official government narrative the first one was mainly based on. That said, it's certainly not without its faults.

The thing is, some of these faults are faults because we just don't quite know everything. It's pretty odd, you'd think stuff like this could be possible to figure out and then... and then you don't know. And quite possibly will never know. There are certain assumptions made by the authors of INSAG-7, same as in any other scientific writing about the disaster.

There is an article written back in 1995 by A.S. Dyatlov himself (am I starting a Dyatlov cult? Why do I ALWAYS mention him?) this report available here. Now, you can think whatever you want about him but he was an expert in the field and he stood firm with his defence of the workers when so many others failed to do so. All in all, I'd consider him a credible source.

If you'd like to see a bit more of INSAG-7 "in practice", then I'd recommend the more technical videos from That Chernobyl Guy, such as this one about the control rods and this one about the coefficients. He references certain parts of INSAG-7 in both (and in many other videos), either as a source to back up a certain claim or to say that this or that may actually be wrong.

Like I said, basically what I do to answer anon questions (because I have turned anon off for this blog for a multitude of reasons, but mainly so I do not truly get anon hate like I have seen far too many other people get) is if the asker wants their ask to be anonymous, I copy it and resend it from my main (winndycakes). The asker remains anonymous to everyone else, but I am given the security of seeing WHO sends in asks, so it is win/win I think.

This is a reply to the CNC anon asker. It may seem illogical and 'contradictory in itself', as CNC is an oxymoron -like silent scream, cruel kindness, deafening silence. Two contradictory words are used create an emphasis and a new meaning. The emphasis here is on consensual. The new meaning is to do with multifaceted aspect of sexuality that has become increasingly common in recent years.  Even if you disagree with established terminology or the exact naming of kinks, is it really worth it arguing about semantics in this way?

At its core, CNC involves consenting to role-playing scenarios in which one partner relinquishes control while the other takes charge. This can manifest in many different ways, however, CNC is always based on trust, communication and, yes, consent.

So where does the 'non-consensual' element come from? The person gives their consent *prior* to the partner(s) performing s*xual acts on them, usually *without their explicit- in-the-moment consent*. This can take different forms- surprise elements (within limits) for increased excitement, unexpected timing or place of initiation, during sleeping or even under influence in some cases. Nevertheless type, limits and boundaries are *always agreed in advance* (some people only like sleep cnc with their partner, while others are into detailed  kidn@pping role-play scenarios or some pain infliction, etc).

But CNC and the so-called r@pe kinks have nothing to do with trauma or real r@pe.

CNC is a way to explore s*xuality, own desires, and role-play in a safe manner.  Or be fully submissive in a way different than, or outside of, traditional BDSM play. People also find it appealing because it gives opportunity for a complete shift in power dynamics. In many relationships, one partner may be more dominant or assertive than the other, but CNC allows both parties to explore different roles and play with power. For others, it is an escape from everyday life or routine in long-term relationships, giving full immersion and a heightened sense of pleasure.

It allows for a level of trust and vulnerability that can deepen the connection between partners or add new, exciting elements to their s*x life. With that said, it’s important for everyone to do their own research and educate themselves on the risks and safety measures involved in CNC play before engaging in it.
