feel the fire, part three. (fin.)

Rowan hadn’t seen Aelin for two weeks and he was starting to think that he had majorly fucked up. He hadn’t meant to kiss her, either. But the moment… you couldn’t blame him, could you? The moment had been perfect with the quiet music floating from the jukebox. The were under the illumination of the edison bulbs that hung from the ceiling all over the bar to give it a soft, warm light. Not to mention how beautiful she had looked after letting their magic twist and play together. Aelin had practically been glowing.

Her friends, sans the boyfriend, had been in and out of the bar on the weekends and a handful of weeknights, but Aelin was never with them. Their explanation for it was usually kind of half-assed and felt like a lie but Rowan hadn’t been able to prove it.

Maybe he had been crazy, though, to think that she felt it, too. That she felt the undeniable pull toward him that he felt to her. It was like some sort of tether was pulling them together, like the universe wanted them to be together. Rowan didn’t believe in soulmates, but he knew this girl was his.

It was embarrassing, the way he was feeling. Maybe she just wasn’t interested, but that didn’t stop him from leaving Luca to deal with the bar for the night while he stayed up in his studio apartment above the bar. For several hours he’d been sitting at an easel, sketching and painting Aelin the way she had looked in the moments after she used her magic. It was impossible for him to get it out of his head, and he had sketched her three times before deciding that he had to paint her to get it exactly right.

He painted her warm, with her eyes blazing and hair like the flame she had let curl up his arm like a snake. He painted her with a sun halo because as far as he was concerned, she was a goddess and deserved to be seen as one.

Gods, she’d had such control over her power. Even after not using it for such a long time it had been easy for her. It had been warm, but a comfortable warm. Nowhere near burning him, and the arrow she had shot at his face had felt like a cool wind when it shot passed his ear. Most people with fire magic couldn’t do what she could. Most people with fire magic were scared of it, scared of the destruction. But Aelin had never looked so alive as she did when she played with him.

“Boss?” Rowan didn’t turn to look at Luca in the door. He kept his eyes pinned on the finished painting.

“Yeah?”

“There’s someone down there asking for you,” he said, and when Rowan turned to look at him, he was rubbing the back of his neck. Rowan sighed.

“What’d you do?”

“Nothing! I - nothing. She just walked straight up to the bar and asked for you.” At the mention of it being a woman, Rowan was downstairs in an instant, praying to whatever god might be listening that it be Aelin.

It was.

And holy gods was she radiant. Rowan had never been more accurate to compare her to something as he was when he called her the sun personified. Standing before him now, her hair had that unusual lustre under the lights that made it look like liquid gold. The golden core of her eyes seemed to jump and dance around her iris, making the turquoise of them all the brighter. Aelin was glowing from within and damn him if she wasn’t the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen.

“I’d been seeing someone,” she started, taking a deep breath. “And he… my magic made him uncomfortable. Maybe nervous is the better word but uncomfortable all the same. So I stopped using it thinking that it made other people uncomfortable too and they’d just never had it in them to tell me. Like other people might think there need to be checks against people with magic like mine. But then… then you saw me use my fire. You saw me use my fire and you didn’t balk. You didn’t run the other way like it was too much for you. You smiled so hard at me like it was what you’d been waiting for the entire time I’ve known you.

“I left the other day because I needed to end things with him, and I did. But I also had to make sure I wasn’t just latching onto you because you pulled me out of this dark thing. And then I realized I was and couldn’t figure out what it meant. And then… I realized you still wanted me when I was mostly faded. Maybe you even wanted me when my magic was eating me from the inside out, I don’t know. But you pulled me out of darkness and despair. You lead me back into the light and I am in love with you.”

Around them, the bar had gone quiet. Like they were all waiting for Rowan to say something, do something. So he made his way around the bar and paused in front of her, his fingers grazing her cheekbones and threading through her remarkable hair.

“Is that okay?” She whispered, as if her loving him was anything short of a miracle.

“It’s perfect,” he murmured, and then he set her on fire once again with a searing kiss. Behind them, the bar erupted in cheers. Luca was whooping and flinging a towel over his head, someone ordered drinks for the entire pub. But none of that mattered. All that mattered was Aelin had restored herself, had started using her magic again and now she was shining brighter than he’d ever seen her.

“I love you,” he said, breathing the words into her soul and her bones so she couldn’t ever forget it. “I love you exactly the way you are, however it may be, to whatever end.” When she pulled back to look at him, her eyes were lined with silver as she, too, whispered against his mouth:

“To whatever end.”

Rowan’s painting of Aelin is heavily heavily inspired by @zoyastormwitch‘s painting of Aelin that you can see here!!! and you should go check it out because holy SHIT is it fucking stunning. i told ashley this the other day but i can see rowan’s art being a similar style to hers so that’s just how i imagine him sketching and painting. so so unique and beautiful.

hey, this might seem weird or "heavy" to talk about so feel free not to answer this if you want! But I'm questioning everything about myself recently, and my name has been a massive topic. I don't like it - I just don't feel like it fits me? I don't know how to describe it, but its not me. I really don't know what to do about it. I know you went through something 'similar' and found a name you felt suited you better, so I was wondering how you found it? Or at least settled on finding another one

hmm, this might get a little long (future Arin can confirm this is very long)/not everyone will want to read this so i’ll put it under the cut~ 💖

first of all i want to say that it is amazing that you feel as though i am trustworthy enough to give advice on such a personal topic, and i will try my best to be helpful!!

to give a little backstory, i found out about being non-binary, asexual, etc when i was 13 (through pinterest believe it or not) I’ve been questioning everything about myself since then (almost 3 years wowie) i only began questioning my name a couple months ago, but i have always felt that it was “too feminine” for me, even when i was little!!

surprisingly, Arin is the only name that i have really considered for a new name, although i have tried looking around. i actually found out about this name while i was listening to the You’re So Brave podcast!! (this podcast is 11/10 trust me) one of the hosts is named Aaron, and he described how when he was first transitioning, he worked at a call centre or something, and he wanted to try using the name Aaron. he explained how the name could sound like Erin to customers, or be spelled like Arin, so his call time or whatever wouldn’t go up from being assumed male by customers. (honestly this probably isn’t 100% what happened but you get the point)

this name immediately flicked a switch in my head, and i’ve been fond of it since. of course, being the anxious person i am, i doubt it almost constantly because of how fast it clicked!! nothing else about my identity has stuck so well, so it was honestly a bit of a shock. i am also not out to my best friend name-wise because of how worried i am that it could change!

now comes the generic advice you were probably expecting.

don’t force it, be open to new names/labels, and research.

with my labels, i often try to force myself into the ones that make the most sense, and just stress myself out when they don’t fit. i have learnt so much about myself, and the lgbtq+ community as a whole from research!! but sometimes i will look at so many websites, blogs etc. that i just get super stressed and hate myself. don’t be me >

Tanto Simone Rocha como H&M estaban decididos a honrar su colección colaborativa de una manera imaginativa, pionera e ingeniosa, que a la vez garantizara la seguridad y las pautas de distanciamiento social. Por lo tanto, optaron por renunciar a un evento global físico en persona en favor de una celebración digital curada: una experiencia pionera de realidad aumentada con libros emergentes. Esta es una creación verdaderamente experimental y la primera de su tipo: una forma dinámica de llevar el arte, la moda y figuras icónicas a los hogares de los invitados a través de la tecnología.

La experiencia digital se activó a través de un hermoso libro de edición limitada (un guiño a la historia de Rocha de publicar material impreso con artistas y creadores de imágenes), creado en colaboración con la célebre pintora británica Faye Wei Wei, quien también protagonizó la campaña Simone Rocha x H&M. Cinco pinturas intrincadas de Wei Wei aparecían dentro del libro sirviendo como telón de fondo emergente para un elenco de personajes talentosos, que cobraron vida desde la página, a través de códigos QR, para modelar la colección Simone Rocha x H&M en realidad aumentada.

El elenco (aquí, cada uno con 10,5 cm de altura) es diverso y majestuoso, y un reflejo de la amplia gama de personas que disfrutan del trabajo de Rocha. Ellos son Helena Bonham Carter, Barry Keoghan, Francesca Hayward, Kaia Gerber, Rowan Blanchard, Paloma Elsesser, Kelsey Lu, las hermanas Laila y Nadia Gohar, Omari Douglas, Djenaba, Jess Maybury, Nancy Andersen, Lily Ashley y Hugo Hamlet de Voo Le Voo, William De Val Darby y la propia Faye Wei Wei, que cobra vida en miniatura frente a sus propias pinturas. Esta amplia gama de personas, que abarca actores, bailarines, modelos y músicos talentosos, destaca la amplitud de esta colección; la primera vez que Rocha ha ofrecido un guardarropa completo para la familia, que incluye ropa de mujer, ropa de hombre y ropa de niño.

El libro hace un guiño a la habilidad característica de Rocha para hacer referencia al arte y la pintura con su trabajo, y también a los temas más amplios de la campaña de la colección de alegría, optimismo y congregación. Star Wars – L’ascesa di Skywalker: tutte le curiosità da sapere sul film

Arriva nei cinema italiani, a partire dal 18 dicembre, il film Star Wars – L’ascesa di Skywalker. Nono capitolo della saga ideata da George Lucas, il film conclude la storia della famiglia Skywalker, ponendo fine ad una delle più grandi epopee della storia del cinema. Diretto da J. J. Abrams, il film ha nel suo cast gli attori Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Domhall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Ian McDiarmid e Billy Dee Williams.

Per essere pronti alla visione del film, ecco alcune curiosità da sapere su Star Wars – L’ascesa di Skywalker.

Il ritorno di Palpatine

La più grande notizia riguardo il film è quella rivelata nell’aprile del 2019, ovvero che nel film sarà nuovamente presente l’imperatore Palpatine, principale villain della trilogia originale.

Il ruolo sarà nuovamente ricoperto dall’attore Ian McDiarmid, che ha fatto la sua comparsa durante la Star Wars Celebration di Chicago. Dopo aver svelato la sua presenza nel trailer, l’attore è infatti salito sul palco confermando la sua presenza nel film, mandando letteralmente in delirio i fan.

Nella scena iniziale in cui Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) cerca Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), quest’ultimo gli dice che “la Forza è la via per molte abilità che alcuni considerano innaturali”. Questa è esattamente la stessa cosa che Palpatine disse ad Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episodio III – La vendetta dei Sith (2005), dove si riferiva a un’antica tecnica Sith usata da Darth Plagueis, che usa la Forza per prolungare la propria vita o forse quello degli altri, alludendo a come potrebbe aver avuto un ruolo nella resurrezione di Palpetine.

Le curiosità dietro al ritorno di Billy Dee Williams

Un altro gradito ritorno all’interno del film è quello dell’attore Billy Dee Williams, che riprenderà il celebre personaggio di Lando Calrissian, già comparso nella trilogia originale della saga. Billy Dee Williams aveva fortemente espresso interesse a riprendere il suo ruolo di Lando Calrissian. Rian Johnson ha pensato di usarlo in Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi (2017), ma ha deciso che non si adattava bene alla storia. Il 9 luglio 2018, dopo diverse settimane di voci, è stato confermato che Williams sarebbe davvero tornato come Lando per questo film.

Secondo alcune fonti, quando la cosa si concretizzo l’attore era titubante all’idea di recitare nel film, spaventato dalla sua età, ma il regista riuscì a convincerlo a riguardo, rendendo pubblico il suo coinvolgimento nel luglio del 2018.

Le curiosità dietro al ritorno de principessa Leila

Dopo la tragica notizia della morte di Carrie Fisher, celebre nella saga per il ruolo della principessa Leila, i produttori dovettero gestire tale assenza in vista del capitolo conclusivo della nuova trilogia.

La morte di Carrie Fisher, avvenuta il 27 dicembre 2016, inizialmente provocò la riscrittura di questo film con l’obiettivo di rimuovere del tutto Leia. La Lucasfilm ha chiarito che non avrebbero tentato di ricreare digitalmente la sua performance come hanno fatto (con l’approvazione della Fisher) in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), molto probabilmente a causa dell’accoglienza miste di quelle scena e di quelli in computer grafica del compianto Peter Cushing. Tuttavia, a luglio 2018, JJ Abrams ha confermato che la Fisher sarebbe apparsa in questo film attraverso filmati inutilizzati di Star Wars – Il risveglio della Forza (2015) e Star Wars – Gli ultimi Jedi (2017), con gli autori e gli editori che hanno escogitato un modo intelligente per riutilizzare quelle scene. C’è ancora una scena in cui Fisher è stato ‘invecchiato’ digitalmente: la brevissima scena di flashback.

Dunque, si è infine deciso di riutilizzare scene tagliate da Il risveglio della Forze e Gli ultimi Jedi, dove compare il personaggio. Tali scene sono state riadattate per far sì che non si avverta l’assenza del personaggio, impossibile da tagliare fuori dalla trama. Le riprese di Carrie Fisher dei precedenti due film sono state incorporate attraverso il processo di rotoscoping o la rimozione digitale dello sfondo del filmato e la sua sovrapposizione altrove. Gli effetti visivi sono stati anche usati per cambiare il suo guardaroba.

C-3PO raggiunge un importante record

Con la sua presenza in Star War – L’ascesa di Skywalker, il droide C-3PO sarà l’unico personaggio ad essere apparso in tutti i nove film della saga. Il ruolo è stato ricoperto in ogni occasione dall’attore Anthony Daniels, la cui prima interpretazione del personaggio risale al 1977. Si ritiene inoltre che questa possa essere l’ultima apparizione del droide all’interno della saga, e di conseguenza anche l’ultima per l’attore.

Quando George Lucas inizialmente elaborò i piani per dodici episodi, poi ridusse quel numero a nove, disse che C-3PO e R2-D2 sarebbero stati gli unici personaggi ad apparire in tutti e nove.

Il ritorno di J. J. Abrams in cabina di regia

Dopo aver diretto nel 2015 il film Star Wars – Il risveglio della forza, che ha dato il via alla nuova trilogia, il regista J. J. Abrams non era inizialmente previsto come regista anche del nono capitolo. Tuttavia, dopo l’allontanamento dell’iniziale incaricato, Abrams ha ottenuto nuovamente tale ruolo, divenendo l’unico regista insieme a George Lucas ad aver diretto più di un film della saga di Star Wars.

Per la lavorazione JJ Abrams ha ripreso diverse idee scartate per il primo film. Oltre ad aver utilizzato diverse scene della Fisher, girate all’epoca del primo capitolo. Tra le varie idee riprese c’è quella dei resti della Morte Nera che possono essere visti immersi nell’acqua. Questa idea è stata originariamente considerata per Star Wars: Episodio VII – The Force Awakens (2015), ed è stata anche descritta come concept art nel libro “The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.

I fan hanno generalmente ipotizzato che il relitto della Morte Nera distrutto in Il ritorno dello Jedi (1983) visto nei trailer sarebbe stato sulla Foresta della Luna di Endor. Tuttavia, del materiale online apparso sui siti dei Parchi Disney “Star Tours -The Adventure Continues” ha rivelato che la Death Star distrutta si trova in realtà sulla Ocean Moon di Kef Bir, mai menzionato prima nel canone di Star Wars. Non solo idee di JJ Abrams. Nel film infatti Il trono dell’imperatore visto in questo film era basato su schizzi concettuali realizzati da Ralph McQuarrie per Il ritorno dello Jedi (1983).

Riguardo alla Fisher, inizialmente produttori avevano pianificato un ruolo più importante per Leia prima della morte di Carrie Fisher. Kathleen Kennedy, presidente della Lucasfilm, ha rivelato: “(Carrie) mi ha afferrato e ha detto: ‘Farò meglio ad essere in prima linea in IX!’ Perché Harrison era davanti e al centro della VII, e Mark è al centro e alla VIII. Pensava che IX sarebbe stato il suo film. E lo sarebbe stato.” Dopo la sua morte, i membri della famiglia Todd Fisher e Billie Lourd hanno concesso a Disney e Lucasfilm il permesso di usare la la sua immagine sotto forma di filmati inutilizzati.

La proiezione privata

A seguito di una vasta campagna diffusa su Twitter, questo film è stato proiettato privatamente da un malato terminale dell’Hospice Rowan a Waterlooville, Hampshire, il 29 novembre 2019. Su sua richiesta, il nome del paziente non è stato reso pubblico.

La sceneggiatura stava per essere resa pubblica

Nel novembre del 2019 sono stati vissuti attimi di panico nel momento in cui la sceneggiatura è comparsa in vendita su eBay. La cosa, fortunatamente, è stata prontamente segnalata e l’articolo è stato recuperato dai produttori del film, che hanno riacquistato il manoscritto. Successivamente fu rivelato che ad aver perso la sceneggiatura è stato l’attore John Boyega. Pare che gli addetti alla pulizia l’avevano trovata sotto il letto mentre pulivano la sua stanza.

Di ci sono le voci che Rey sente?

Tra le voci Jedi che Rey sente durante la scena “all Jedi” ci sono Darth Vader / Anakin Skywalker (James Earl Jones), Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), Luminara Unduli (Olivia d’Abo), Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein), Aayla Secura (Jennifer Hale), Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson), il giovane Obi Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor), il più vecchio Obi Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness), Yoda (Frank Oz), Adi Gallia (Angelique Perrin), Kannan Jarus (Freddie Prinze Jr.) e Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson).

Aveva un titolo di lavorazione diverso

Il regista J. J. Abrams è noto per tenere particolarmente segreta la lavorazione dei suoi film. Per depistare circa potenziali ipotesi sulla trama, Abrams assegnò così al lungometraggio il titolo di lavorazione “Black Diamond”. Successivamente nel giugno del 2018 questo fu cambiato in “trIXie”. Nell’aprile del 2019 viene infine rivelato il reale titolo del film: L’ascesa di Skywalker.

Colin Trevorrow, Simon Kinberg e tanti talenti prima di JJ Abrams

Colin Trevorrow doveva originariamente dirigere questo film, ma “scelse di abbandonare” il progetto a causa delle differenze creative tra lui e Lucasfilm. Trevorrow e Derek Connolly, che hanno lavorato insieme a Safety Not Guaranteed (2012), hanno scritto la sceneggiatura iniziale, ma a settembre 2017, JJ Abrams ha sostituito Trevorrow mentre il regista e Chris Terrio si sono uniti ad Abrams per riscriverlo.

Lo sceneggiatore e produttore Simon Kinberg ha scritto la prima trama di questo film, che è stato però abbandonata dopo che le storie dei due film precedenti sono state pesantemente modificate dalle loro prime versioni. Prima che JJ Abrams fosse assunto per un altro film di Star Wars, la regia è stata offerta ancora a Rian Johnson, ma ha declinato l’offerta poiché sentiva di aver bisogno di un periodo di riposo tra Star Wars – Gli ultimi Jedi (2017) e il suo prossimo progetto, Cena con delitto – Knives Out (2019).
